Goodness Elie Saab sure does know how to make things look expensive. I’m surprised how much I like this collection because there is nothing ground breaking here. Just beautiful gowns, cut and constructed to perfection. I imagine we’ll see a lot on the red carpet. One question though: why would anyone want to wear an oatmeal colored gown?
On someone with really dark skin, the contrast could be striking. Just not for white girls.
It certainly would look better on someone with darker skin I grant you that but I guess it’s that I still have an aversion to such a dingy non-color. I am digging the blue and the blood-red though.
I know, it’s annoying that so many of the models are white, or at least pale, because that shade would pop so much better on women with dark skin.
I can never get over how many designers seem to ignore how much better some colors look on a darker skin.
Viola Davis or Gabrielle Union for the pale (and jewel tones). I don’t even hate all the sheer since it would be relatively easy to properly line them. There really isn’t anything earth shattering here but it’s all so pretty!
Nothing new or Earth-shattering, but beautifully well made. That’s ok with me.
My reaction precisely. Nothing startling or unexpected (except maybe the pantsuit), but all beautifully made and luxe looking.
I had to laugh a bit at the dramatic staging of that last Snow Queen outfit. I bet it was really great seen live.
That third gown from the end – the encrusted column, is To. Die!!!!
I’m with you. The jewel tone gowns are pretty, but these smoky looks have more resonance.
It’s all very pretty, soft and romantic. It screams of awards season and the list of ladies we will likely see in some of these looks is long. However, I am a bit disappointed in that it doesn’t feel fresh, new or remotely original.
I’m gonna hang that picture on my wall like a rock poster.
Nope, nothing groundbreaking, that is certain. However, it’s a lovely, graceful grown up collection of timelessly chic clothing.
You are so right! After Halle wore him I couldn’t wait to see his next collection but they just became more and more tame. But very nice and suitable for many stars. Graceful and grown up, very nice terminology!
So gorgeous I can’t even stand it. I love all of them! Well, two make the models look like their boobs are melting, but that is a very small price to pay!
Matching celebrities to each of these looks is kind of a fun game. For me at least, who has a hard time getting excited for gown after gown after gown…ooh, cocktail dress…gown, gown, gown, JUMPSUIT, gown, gown…
Finally. Something pretty. Something divine. Finally. No fucking school bus yellow. Thank you that is all.
In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, ‘Me likey’ Sometimes pretty is enough.
” sometimes pretty is enough ” I love it! Add to that sometimes dominating the red carpet is enough….
Well, Elie is nothing if not consistent. Nothing terrifically modern or new, but always lovely. And there’s always a market for lovely.
It’s true, should I ever have this kind of money to throw around, I’d throw it this way. The gowns are timelessly chic, an investment that will age well.
Greens and blues my favorites and La Novia!!! lovely, imposible to hate
That bride looks like she might hand out poisoned fruit, but everything else is elegant and beautiful.
Yes! And for that very reason my first thought looking at that gown was “if” I were to ever marry again this is how I am walking down the aisle. I wonder if the handmaiden minions are included?
I envision the bridesmaid/minions following behind in the “New Look” -esque cocktail dresses, in all the colors. Like a string of Christmas ornaments.
Passing out red apples to all the guests.
Brilliant! Blood red apples, of course.
They must be, apparently the gown and veil weigh a ton with all the beads and the bride had trouble staying steady on the runway.
CAN QUEEN HELEN WEAR THE FOURTH DRESS DOWN SOMEDAY PLEASE??
And in that color too.
Yes, yes yes! I thought so too.
One of each, please! OK, some of the old undergarment colored ones can stay behind…but I even liked some of those. Lovely
These dresses are very beautiful, especially the red series. However, it feels rather repetitive. It’s classic Elie, but it is also not pushing any new boundaries.
Now THAT’s the dress for an evening wedding in midwinter.
I totally could star in my own movie in these – one of those movies where the star shows up at a different social event in a different dress in every scene. Except for the boudoir scenes.
Nothing startling and skews a bit mature, but god I’d love to see these in person. And that RED.
I think these could have been very interesting, if they were available in non-boring colours.
I’m having a mixed reaction to these. While I can see that they are mostly lovely, they just don’t flip my hair. Red#6 would be elegant for the French medieval court. Green#5 belongs on Amy Adams. The bride looks like Queen of the Evil Fairies. And lord help me, because I detest the expression, several of these are perfect for Mother of the Bride.
Two words: Fucking gorgeous.
These are gorgeous. Yes, nothing new, but still. Gorgeous. Although I think the wrong model was paired with the 4th green dress. It’s making her shoulders look like a linebacker’s.
ETA: The bridal look is kind of hilarious. And it’s making me want to re-watch Enchanted.
I predict many of these will make red carpet appearances.
Saab does exquisite beading always…but the shapes are repetitive as hell, season after season. Would love to see what he can do without embroidery!
I feel like every collection he presents is essentially the SAME COLLECTION presented in a different color way. I am beyond bored. It’s not even pretty to my eyes anymore because it’s just so expected.
I want all of it. And I want to be 15 years younger and getting married so I can wear that last one.
Ooohhhh! So pretty!
Though I would have thought it very funny if, after the show being all gowns, the final look was pants.
fiercest bride evaah!
so consistent you can place almost any of these looks in his past collections and it wouldn’t look out of place. even the wedding gown he made recently for that princess of Luxembourg was boring. i never thought I’d say this but I would prefer actually Uncle Karl’s wacky dresses.
Nothing ground-breaking here, but the jewel tones are stunning and that may be the best wedding dress I’ve ever seen. I have a weakness for sparkly.
Hey guys, just a housekeeping question : anyway to number the photos, just for us commenters ?
More of the same, but it’s all very beautiful and will elicit a lot of gaspy “OOOOOH PRETTY” exclamations on the red carpet.
I’m bummed that the photog didn’t get the shot of Tay-Tay leaping on stage and ripping the gown off #2, sort of her ‘Ye revenge moment.
Turns out I like neutral colors even less when they can be directly compared to those beautiful jewel tones.
Even if all of these are very typical and expected for Saab, they are still exquisitely structured and detailed and definitely have their place in couture week. Honestly, who else makes couture as wearable as this? The emeralds are gorgeous. I thought his last few seasons were most interesting than this, but many of these gowns are fantastic.
I thought J Lo in the pants. Annie H in #8, Carey Mulligan in #11, Amy Adams – if her stylist ever loved her – in #34 or any of the emerald styles.
I thought the same thing when I scrolled down to #11! Maybe it’s because we’ve seen her in so much Great Gatsby-themed schwag lately.
Amy Adams would look great in the emerald as would Isla Fisher, who was in the Great Gatsby.
This collection is giving me the pretty I’ve been needing! Nothing earth shattering here, just beautiful gowns.
Gorgeous collection! Looks tailor-made for Keira Knightley, Florence Welsh, and Nicole Richie. Would love to see Anna Kendrick in some of the cocktail lengths, too.
Over it. I can’t even appreciate the pretty anymore. It’s always the same.
That’s what I thought–seemed really repetitive.
Lord amighty – I want a life worthy of these dresses. The blood-red color is just gorgeous.
Wrap up one of each and send them to me. STAT.
Lovely, beautiful, and just a sight to scroll through. Sure it didn’t tax my brain in any way, however, I just woke up and it was just perfect. *Sighs of contentment*
No. More. See-through. Skirts.
Pretty, but a bit repetitive. A few pieces feel like they were simply done in multiple colors. My fave are the black an navy one sleeves, the white pants suit and the all beaded dresses.
Predictable, but gorgeous.
It may not be challenging, but that is one gorgeous collection.
There’s nothing earth-shattering or new but this makes you feel like you can always count on Elie Saab for old-school gorgeousness and beautifully made clothes. Also, YES to those jewel tones!
As a girl that seriously wants a deep/blood red wedding dress, those first several dresses are giving me LIFE.
As soon as I saw the green dresses I thought of Diane Kruger and how she should try one of those on.
I love it all. Classy, elegant, simple shapes and silhouettes with beautiful beading. I’ll take one of each in the reds and the greens.
Tilda for the pants. I zoned out on most of these, even though individually they are probably gorgeous.
Typical Elie Saab Grandeur. Very very gorgeous but I’ve seen almost all these dresses every season.
I love almost everything in that deep red. These dresses are made for people who want to look like stars. Not original by any means, but designed to be super flattering and I’m with that.
I feel like I’ve just watched another 4th of July show.
i love it all.
Gorgeous, gorgeous clothes.
Not terribly exciting, but every one is beautiful, wearable, and RC ready.
One of each, please.
Red and green gowns with pockets – Yes!
Rest – no, no.
um, it’s all bridesmaid dresses. and mother-of-the-bride dresses.
Wow. So much pretty.
I can’t decide which one I like the best. Hell, I can’t even pick which color I like the best.
Fourth red from the top or second green – I would love to see Angelina at the premier of Maleficent in any of them. Sans dirty Pitt
I love the colors, particularly the red. i also really like the strapless gun-metal one–it picks up on that neutral trend in a more interesting way.
Love that red! Each one was a little *gasp*.
The beaded flame-stitch bodices make the models’ breasts look like they’re melting. Especially in the blue!
Love this collection, but Elie Saab is always so beautiful. Those red dresses would have popped so much more if the runway had not been red too, but alas, I am pinning them all right now.
I want to see Fan Bing Bing in #27, because that is too much dress for basically anyone else.
I want to see Fan Bing Bing in any and all of this.
As a cool-toned, pale-skinned brunette, these colors made my heart do a happy dance. Really digging the cranberry.
The 3rd and 7th blue dresses and the 4th, 5th and 6th green ones. ALL MINE.
That last babe is giving me LIFE. Everything about it. The dress without the veil isnt quite as spectacular but DAMN that is one helluva look…
Classic, almost 50s lines in some of these.
I want to get married in the sleeved gowns with the v-necks. I just need them in white!
Christmas wedding. Bridal party of all ages included. No hate.
I think an awful lot of this can be called The Helen Mirren Collection.
Yes. Want. Now. That fifth green dress is to die for.
Some serious beauty here but very accessible. Shall we play the “Which Gown for Which Ladystar” game?
I think Jennifer Lawrence needs to wear one of those red dresses during her “Catching Fire” poledancing.
These designs are somewhat boring. The use of beautiful fabric is extremely impressive.
I love every single one. Please, Jesus, let Tilda Swinton wear the last one.
Beautiful collection. I’m glad to see some Asian models on the runway.
I’m torn between which ones are my favorites: that string of beautiful green ones or the completely beaded dresses at the end. Extraordinary craftmanship and beauty on display here.
Why do I feel like I’ve seen this collection before?
Pretty damn glorious, IMO. The reds are astounding. So are the greens, the blue, the taupe, the silver… in fact all of them are breathtaking. I’m apparently not sophisticated enough to deem them ho hum or bridesmaidish.
I’d love one of those cranberry dresses for the imaginary holiday galas I attend.
Is it just me? These feel a little, um, mature?
Agree. Can’t see it as a bad thing, though.
LOVE Elie Saab, period. I think the very first grey, and of course that last show-stopper, are my very favorites. Lots of gorgeous here!
It’s very pretty, but I feel like I’ve seen this collection before. Namely, approximately 1-2 times a year from Elie Saab.
I am so tired of Elie Saab’s nude and greige. However, I loved the colored dresses, especially the blood red (that first one is so sexy and sophisticated). And even I can admit that that wedding gown at the end is pretty damned amazing. ADORE the veil and would cut all three of those bitches to steal it.
Seems like he’s been sending the same collection down the runway the last 3 years. Time to try something new Elie.
Love the bold colors. Way too many nude dresses in this collection. Afraid that the stylists and ladystars will default to those.
Is it OK to say “Of course” to a couture collection? Having said that, I’m an Elie Saab fan, so I have no complaints.
Dammit! Who took my drapes?
Um I kind of want to be a fabulous spider queen for my wedding after seeing that last one. I will require no less than 4 servants to hold my train.
Give me, give me, give me, give me! I will take them all! Okay, a few of the straight across the shoulder, long-sleeved ones are a little Florence Welch for me, but you know what, I think I can deal.
I was playing ‘dress the film actress’ all the way through this collection. Nothing original but everything high end and lovely.
It’s all gorgeous and very red carpet but I didn’t get excited about any evening dress at all. That all glitter cocktail dress thou…
Opulence! I can see Florence Welsh wearing some of these, especially the first one.
Very pretty and pretty dull. Ok, the wedding dress is pretty fabulous but aside from that it all looks so middle ground and conservative. And I know I’m going to sound like a broken record, but for the love of God, these models look like awkward 12 year-olds at their first formal dance. Christ, could they please hire people to werq these outfits? Attitude, sex appeal, um… maturity?
Beautiful. All of ‘em.
So THAT’S where Laura Bennett’s been hiding!
All the red ones, were extremely beautiful
Could someone please invite me to some fabulous gala so I have an excuse to have one of these amazing gowns?
