Dita Von Teese at the 2013 North America Hairstyling Award

Posted on July 15, 2013

It’s nice to see she can do something so easy-breezy while still remaining more or less true to her point of view.

Dita Von Teese attends the 2013 North America Hairstyling Award during the Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas Convention.

And it’s also nice to see she knows when to pull back on the reins, because the North America Hairstyling Award ceremony is not the time to be high-falutin’ about things. This is summertime chic and simple, but totally dramatic in that totally Dita way. Plus we love that purse. Way to commit to a theme there, Miss Dita. Even your bag is a polka dot.

      She looks demure yet naughty.

    • mmebam

      Lovely!

    • crash1212

Shoulda been a WERQ. Love the bag as polka-dot. Perfection.

    • StellaZafella

This is the dress she’d wear to the book signing for your Seussian Tribute.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And I would die more than just a little bit, if she showed up at all.

        • rougeort

She must! That’s the best press she’s ever RECEIVED.

      • drdarke

Your very kinky Seussian Tribute I hope, @StellaZafella:disqus and @kiltdntiltd:disqus !

    • KikiAvocado

she is classy and unique- rare now a days.

      • NoveltyRocker

At least on the celebrity front. Thankfully there are plenty of normals in certain towns with unique styles and classy carriage to beautify the scenery.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I love how she has matched everything to her beauty mark.

    • kimmeister

I wonder what kind of shoes she was wearing? That type of sleeve/shoulder is hard to wear but it’s working great on her. The fit is just right so we don’t get any of that unsightly underarm bulge that’s so common with funky arm holes.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I love the fact that she is never , ever seen in anything that doesn’t fit to perfection. Whoever does her clothing alterations is a treasure.

        • kimmeister

Well, except for her camel toe Pilates pants from last week, but we’ll give her a pass on those.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

After stretching oneself hither and yon for an hour, one can expect a certain amount of disarrangement.

    • nannypoo

Very sweet. I love the little shoulder treatment.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

And a moon manicure, because she’s that kind of a lady. Swoon.

    • pookiesmom

I think this is a WERQ.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Quiet, ladylike applause.

    • Tatiana Luján

      I want that dress.

      • ashtangajunkie

Me too. I love polka dots.

    • Anniebet

Pretty damn spiffy. But, ya know… she might have taken some tips from those hair stylists… that hairdo, which seems to be her standard one, is making her long face appear longer. Otherwise, pure class.

    • decormaven

Bowing down. That’s perfection, tip to toe.

    • alyce1213

Thoroughly lovely, even the bracelet is just right.

    • MilaXX

Kinda ironic having someone who wears the same hair 385 days a year to a hair show

    • maggiemaybe

She makes it all look so easy…

    • majorbedhead

I have eyebrow envy. She never looks bad. Ever. Even the camel-toe mishap the other day – her face and hair were still perfect. Bitch. *pea green*

    • Chickadeep

Oh come now…surely this is a WERQ? The bag is perfection.

    • formerlyAnon

She’s always thought her look through and then put in the work to make it happen and to make sure the clothes fit as if a phalanx of photographers and harsh lights were waiting.

    • conniemd

I put her on the opposite pole from the Kardashians. She has no claim to fame other than used to be married to … but at least she really is fun to look at because the woman knows how to dress, but really doesn’t belong on the A list. OTOH, the Kardashians have no claim to fame other than being car wrecks, who are looked at because they are wrecks.

Keep the DVT coming, but I’m still not sure why she gets invites to events any more.

      • Heather

She gets invited because she is awesome.

      • venusvelvet

She’s a professional burlesque dancer (and incidentally also a trained costume designer.) I don’t follow her much, but I wouldn’t put her in the same sentence as the Kardashians.

      • Kayceed

She is probably the most famous contemporary burlesque dancer in the world.

    • marlie

She looks stunning. I love this dress, and it’s precisely “her,” but still a little bit young and fresh at the same time.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Her hair looks beautiful. This is one of the few looks on Dita that I don’t care for. I love polka dots, but there’s too much fabric to this dress. Also, many women would be flattered by this dress. It isn’t unique enough for Dita.

    • largishbearishAtlish

Would a baby dalmation (dog) on a leash have been too much? (my screen was severely lagging, so what imagining what was on the end of the cord/rope/purse strap….

    • Rand Ortega

Oh, Dita. Refreshing repast from silly little girl skank sexy attempts that you are. Whatever would fashion do w/out you?

    • Just Me

      Lovely. Really lovely.

    • Wendi126

I adore her and this is awesome…however my very first thought was she appeared to be the love child of Cruella deVille and one of the Dalmatians.

    • Zaftiguana

Where this goes from cute to FABulous is the fact that it’s floor length instead of somewhere from mini to t.

    • imspinningaround

Do we know who made this dress? It’s wonderful.

      • SylviaFowler

        Jenny Packham

    • JP

      Love it!!!!!

    • DamH

I haven’t seen this vibe with her before. Thanks TLo. Totally a WERQ!

    • quiltrx

Very Dita AND looks really comfortable but still dressy. LUV HUH.

    • SylviaFowler

      This is Jenny Packham, yes?

    • BuffaloBarbara

I like this, but I think I’d like it better at a knee-ish length. It just seems a skosh too long in this length (even though I know it isn’t), giving the awkward sense that she’s going to trip over the hem, even though I’m pretty sure she’s not. If that makes any sense outside my head.

    • Diego!

      Flawless indeed!

    • Diego!

      She looks stunning!

    • Adrianna Grężak

I’d love to own a shorter version of that dress.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

      beautiful.
minor quibble: i wish the skirt was a little less of a column and had a bit more of a flare.

    • NBG

One thing I adore about Dita, girlfriend knows the importance of top notch foundation garments. It helps her clothes fit the way they are supposed to, without distractions.

    • holdstillnow

She looks great! However, you guys I beg to differ: I think the NAHAs are the perfecttime to get high-falutin. It seems a shame she went so conservative with that detail. Even a small hat or fascinator would have zhuzed things up.

    • Cathy S

      Love that.

    • PrunellaV

That is a great print. Love the ink spot polka dots.
