Channing Tatum in Gucci at the “White House Down” Premiere

Posted on July 02, 2013

We were kind of mean to him the other day. Granted, we had good reason, but still. We feel bad. His wife said she loves us and he’s a new daddy, so let’s all  be kind to poor Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum today, darlings.

Channing Tatum attends the premiere of “White House Down” in New York City in a Gucci suit.

He looks pretty damn good, right? He’s groomed and wearing a properly fitted suit. That’s 95% of the battle won right there.

Goatees. Not really a fan of them on most men, but he’s making it work for him.

That looks like something on the lens rather than the pants. That spot is not in the first picture.

    • Carly

ah, you may be right. I really hope so.

  • Annarosa

I can’t see anything wrong here. Except that I don’t like him.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Co-sign. Great suit, but he looks like an empty suit.

    • ShaoLinKitten

Watch Magic Mike. I didn’t like him before that, but now I have seen the light. LEARN TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE CHAN.

      • Annarosa

I saw Magic Mike, and I like the way he dances. That’s it. He is not my type. I did prefer the damn Matt Bomer (yummy), let me stop it here.

  • Tatiana Luján

I like his shoes a lot.

  • stephbellard

I would hit that like a Jeopardy buzzer. I’ll take Multiple Orgasms for $1000 Alex.

    • Rand Ortega

  • Joanna

He cleans up nice, and has a pretty standard “handsome man” look, but I don’t understand the “sexiest man alive” designation. Also, I feel like the whole suit is just a touch too tight (pants particularly).

    • sweetestsith

He doesn’t have the prettiest face in the world, but I find him incredibly attractive in motion. He moves like a dancer for lack of better description, graceful but always in control of his body. There are other areas of life this could be useful in, and that doesn’t hurt…. I also think he’s doofy-funny, and love it.

      Um, yes. Fangirl here.

    • Have you seen him dance? Also, his interviews are usually pretty terrific.

      • Joanna

Yes, and I have seen a couple of interviews. “Meh” is all I can muster. I’m old and difficult to impress.

        • Fair enough. There are some regularly featured “hotties” here whose appeal I just don’t get. If we all liked the same flavor ice cream, life would be boring.

          • Rand Ortega

Charisma & grace for a guy that big is very unusual. I compare him to Gene Kelly. While not a very tall man, Kelly had that same everyman persona but took it to another level when he moved/danced.

          • Not to mention, his years spent as a model have taught him to appreciate clothes and how to wear them. I recently perused TLo’s past posts on him (what?) and he has always scored highly. He very rarely can be accused of Pitting or forgetting to hem his pants.

          • Rand Ortega

Not to mention Wifey (if we must) who loves TLo, having her own discerning eye for style & probably not letting him out of the house w/out meeting her standard as well.

          • demidaemon

She must have been asleep last week then. Or dead on her feet. Because I cannot belive she cosigned the Letterman atrocity.

          • Rand Ortega

            True ‘dat!

    • eowyn_of_rohan

He’s the sexiest white* heterosexual famous man with a good publicist and a movie in development. That’s how these things work. (*Except for that one year they picked Denzel.)

      • agentilities

Wait, so Idris has never won this award?

        • SpillinTea

We can only hope…maybe if he gets Bond the White Hollywood Publicity Machine will see the light.

        • eowyn_of_rohan

Nope. They probably figure he won’t sell well at the newsstand. It’s pretty awful that in more than 25 years of this “award” it’s only gone to one non-white dude. That’s one reason why I tend to just sort of laugh at the whole thing. It’s “sexiest man alive” within a very specific demographic.

    • marlie

I’m never going to be a fan gurl, but I’ve seen him in enough interviews to know that he’s charmingly self-deprecating, and pretty down to earth, which makes a guy more attractive in my book.

  • flamingoNW

Not a big fan but he looks great here. You couldn’t pay me to see this film and I met the writer and one of the actors in the last few weeks. STILL can’t bring myself to go….

    • gabbilevy

Yeah, I feel like it’s probably terrible, but I’d really love for this movie to be good. Dunno why, really, other than it’d probably be a lot of fun to see my neighborhood gratuitously blown to bits. (Goodness knows, this town could use a little loosening up)

      • sweetestsith

Its not award winning, but as a light action flick it is fun and surprisingly well paced. They were a little bit heavy handed with a “message” (which was also my complaint about Magic Mike), but it wasn’t annoying, just noticeable.

  • msdamselfly

    jacket too small

  • MilaXX

He looks pretty good. I wish he’d shave, but I have no complaints about the suit.

    • mjude

one of the best looks… i think?

  • Miss WKS

That tie is making me carsick…

  • Rand Ortega

    You are too stinkin’ cute!

  • Ramon Figueroa

Channing Tatum has worked very hard at being a movie star, and he doesn’t take for granted. That’s why it was so strange to see him looking less than at hs best in that previous post. This is more like it.

  • Rand Ortega

I like Channing. He’s not remotely my type, but I like his drive, attitude & (mostly) style. This is a great look for him. Perfectly tailored, great for his coloring.

(Saw the movie at a screening last week. 2 hours I’d like back)

  • Coolekat

Don’t mosT men’s suits call for belts?

    • In_Stitches

I like the clean lines of a suit without a belt. As long as the pants are fitted well, they’re largely pointless and just adds needless bulk that can look strange, especially with the fitted suits that have been growing more and more common.

      • sekushinonyanko

A great argument for bringing back suspenders.

  • Celeste

    Sweet. Baby. Jesus.

  • Calinda_L

Henry Cavill should be dressing like this all the time. Maybe he and Channing Tatum can get together and talk about how to dress when you’ve got a superhero physique. Maybe they should be in boxers for the get together, which will likely turn into a pillow fight and… um… what was I saying?

    • NBG

      You win the Internet today.

    • demidaemon

      Agreed. 1000 % agreed.

    • sweetestsith

YES!!! And maybe Channing can try to teach Henry how to dance, and, and… yes… I like the way you think. 😀

  • madscntst

Eh, something about the fit of the suit isn’t right. Take it off…take it all off!

  • Kimmu

He’ll always be my fave Charming Potato

  • JauntyJohn

    He looks great.

  • Jessica Freeman

    Redemption is sweet.

  • Agatha Guilluame

From far away he looks a little meat-headish and then you get close up and your legs uncross themselves and your uterus says “he’ll do”.

  • NBG

Points for a neatly trimmed goatee. If you’re going to wear one, put the effort into making it look decent. He looks good.,

  • IAmJ

He looks like Lee DeWyze with this hair and goatee. 🙁

  • barbarienne

I’m sure getting a suit to fit properly on his buff bod is a lot more challenging than fitting a slender-built man. So extra plus bonus points for that. This more than makes up for the wacktastic thing he was wearing the other day.

  • joanna dash

As someone more clever than I said recently, “We already had a perfectly good Josh Hartnett that we were barely using. Do we really need another one”? To which I reply: Why, yes. Yes, we do.

    • Candice Booth

What happened to that lovely little piece called Josh?

  • judybrowni

    Much better, Mr. Charming Potato.

  • ShaoLinKitten

Poor Channing, he looks really tired. Maybe the baby is keeping him up. I think he looks like a banker in this picture. A hot, exhausted banker.

  • ceceliadid

Thank you, Mr. Tatum, for removing your neck beard. Other boystars, please take note.

  • DTLAFamilies

Don’t like the goatee because it’s the exact same width as his beady eyes. Makes it look like all of his features inhabit a narrow path straight down the middle of his face.

    • ShaoLinKitten

Maybe that’s what was bothering me about his eyes? The goatee is making them look smaller? I don’t know. Maybe he has always had beady eyes, but the rest of him is so yummy that I didn’t care? If so, then this suit is doing him no favors, because it is not allowing me to be distracted by his otherwise obvious charms.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I like the pattern of the suit! He’s adorable. I always want to give him a cookie. In a non-dirty sense. Is that weird?

  • somebody blonde

He’s working the goatee better than most anyone, but it’s still one of the worst forms of facial hair and I do not approve. Do you hear me, Mr. Tatum? I DO NOT APPROVE!

  • alyce1213

I’m not the biggest fan — he’s way too wide-necked and muscled for my taste, but this is a personal best for him.
I don’t get what the problem is with the goatee. I think he looks good with it, more interesting.
He seems like a nice guy, he interviews well, loves his wife. So, it’s all good,

    • For shits and giggles, do an images search for his earlier model years. He was much less beefy back then. Cut like a marble statue too. It’s a bunch of pretty.

  • ashtangajunkie

I just really like him – for being a (mostly) well-dressed sweetheart. And the fact that he can cut a serious rug doesn’t hurt him either.

  • Maryanne525

Have. Mercy. I don’t normally find myself physically attracted to him (aside from appreciation of his physique in general) but the suit is MAGICAL.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

My man sports a goatee. Well played Channing, you look even yummier than usual.

  • MartyBellerMask

I don’t mind the goatee on him. It gives his face some shape? I don’t know, something. Normally he does nothing for me. He still doesn’t, but I’m finding him better looking than usual.

  • Imasewsure

All the muscle boys should look to Gucci and run away from Thom Ford… he looks great and doesn’t look like a bouncer

  • quiltrx

I’ve always kind of loved goatees (I’m a Gen X girl after all). I was trying to figure out why I suddenly found him kind of attractive (never really before)–and that’s actually it I think!
This is a great suit. I like a subtle pattern, and it gives you several shirt/tie options.

  • marlie

I love the grey and the tan together. He looks great!

  • Kimberlini

He works hard, he’s smart and I want to kiss him.

  • demidaemon

I have to disagree on the goatee. I don’t think he’s a goatee kind of guy. It takes his great suit and skeeves it up a bit. Unfortunate facial hair choice. Time for a rethink, Channing.

  • RJay

This is the first time I’ve seen him and thought… hmm, yes, kinda handsome.
    Love the shirt and tie.

  • veleri

That outfit is amazing on him. love it. Everything’s perfect. Call me maybe.

  • Danielle L

If he would JUST SHAVE omg.

  • SylviaFowler

    He looks like Chaz Bono.

    I don’t see the appeal.

  • PrunellaV

Damn, he’s starting to out-Brad-Pitt Brad Pitt!

  • forward_slash_PRS

I think the great thing about the goatee is that it softens the “blockiness” of his head (which I think is gorgeous anyway). It’s well-deployed to enhance his features, something that doesn’t always happen with facial hair.

  • largishbearishAtlish

why is he squinting in all his pics??

  • docTL

TLo — I’m surprised at you. Technically he’s not sporting a Goatee. The mustache takes it into Van Dyke territory, don’t you think?

  • mdcoon127

It is a little tight, but it’s Channing Tatum, right?
