Byung-hun Lee at the “Red 2” Premiere

Posted on July 12, 2013

Summer action movie season! Lots of men on the red carpet! Lots of men of color on the red carpet because summer action movies require terrorists, thugs and super-villains!

Hollywood! Gotta love it!

Byung-hun Lee attends the premiere of “Red 2” in Los Angeles, California.

Well, it’s nice enough, but the fit’s a little tight in the jacket. He’s definitely the build for double-breasted, but the whole look feels a little too sedate and respectable. A brightly colored tie would have been nice. Also: that’s some game show host hair and we know for a fact he’s capable of much hotter styles than that. Come now, Byung-hun. A red carpet is not the time or place to hide your hotness.

Right, he looks like my boss. Nice suit though.

  • TAGinMO

Cute. But I think he and Stephen Moyer may have gotten together on a Saturday night a few weeks ago to color each other’s hair while drinking wine and watching old movies.

    • Irish Rodriguez Reyes

Now that would be a movie I’d watch!

      • Funkykatt

He’s an amazing actor along with another gorgeous Korean actor, Bin Won. I hope TLo feature more of him.

  • flamingoNW

He’d like to talk to you about some worthwhile investments.

  • skitzfiggitous

I’m glad I followed your link, or he might have been permanently relegated to the “Artist’s Rendering of Handsome Asian Man” in my brain. Let your hair down a bit, Lee. You’re WAY better off for it.

    • Leigh Montano

I followed the link. If I weren’t already pantsless, I would have been after that. What happened to his hair?! Bring back the sexy hair.

    • conniemd

Yes! Yes! I’m glad I saw your recommendation to follow the link.

      • Judih1

Glad I followed the link as well. The photos on the link show how hot he is, whereas on the RC he looks boring and generic. Thanks TLO once again for being on top of things

    • mshesterp

Me too–this whole look makes him look about 10 years older (not in a good way) about about 79% less hot. The hair is ruining EVERYTHING.

  • xicacha

Oh…this is…disappointing. But he’s one of my favorite Korean actors (I swooned my way through “Iris”) and I’m so happy that he is getting roles in decent movies (*cough*not GI Joe*cough). Do I detect a hint of red hair dye? Isn’t that carrying things a bit far?

    • NBG

Yeah, the color has got to go.

    • Qitkat

I’m not familiar with him, but after looking at the google images linked to, he certainly seems worth checking out. Good-looking man. And yes, that hair color is not doing him any favors.

      • xicacha

I think at least one of his movies “The Good, The Bad, and The Weird” is still on Netflix. Its…such a strange delight of a western and he is yummy in it.

  • NBG

The hair is is big misstep here, both the color and the style. And edgier style mixed with that suit would have been a lot of fun to see. He truly does look like a game show host. And even though most Asian game shows are friggin fantastic, this is probably not the look he was going for.

  • cowper

I’m seeing “concierge of a fancy hotel.” I think it’s the big buttons. Also: button mipples.

    • Stella Zawistowski

      Oh, dear. Cannot unsee mipples.

  • MilaXX

I’ll ignore the fit of the jacket 1)because he’s cute, and 2)fresh meat!

    • Annarosa

agreed. I can’t see flaws. But if I follow the link… oh wait. Well, close enough.

  • Julie Chase

HOLY…thank you for the link to that Google image search.

  • marlie

SO much potential, but all I get here is “bank CEO”

  • marlie

I just looked at TLo’s link, and DAYUM.

    • majorbedhead

      *fans face* Indeed. Holy shit.

    • annabelle archer

You click the link and its so much hotness, all up in your face. Dear sweet baby jeezus I love Sausage Fridays.

  • lrober03

The way he’s holding his arms is like “I can’t move too fast or I might rip the shoulders”

    • AmeliaEve

Yeah but at least his hands are not in his pockets.

  • appliquer

Whoa – capable of much better!

  • Dan_In_NYC

OK after clicking that link, I believe he would be a great candidate for the granny panties trend that happening lately. And just the granny panties… or, you know, a speedo.

  • oatmealpie

He looks so sweaty and smarmy. I never would have thought him capable of the sexy photos in the link.

  • Jessica Freeman

I clicked the linky. For the love of all things sacred. Just take the damn suit off.

    • formerlyAnon

And let somebody else do your hair.

  • Rand Ortega

Hotness. The suit’s a skosh tight in the waist but it does accentuate it, which is delish. His smile (which he appears to be quite generous w/ btw) is disarming. I’m a smitten kitten.

  • snarkykitten

that google image search. wow. um. what were we talking about?

    • DB Ruberto

Sorry for the capslock but omfg………..

      • formerlyAnon

  • annabelle archer

We took the kids to see the G.I. Joe Retaliation. He is what helped me to get over the (way too) early loss of Channing.
I prefer him edgy. This proper businessman look is not getting it done.

  • Tatiana Luján

I like everything from the forehead down, but the dye of his hair is terrible.

  • annabelle archer

IMBD says today is his birthday….this is not his birthday suit…WTF?!?!?!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Well he is “capable of” so much more than this. Makes me wish he’d take that shirt off.

  • Delmekia Flannigan

That hair and the shiniest of his face are not doing him any justice. After following the link, I am so disappointed he did not bring the hotness to the red carpet.

  • mjude

    game show host hair…..LMFAO!

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Loved him in the The Good, The Bad and the Weird and yes, he is capable of MUCH better.

  • Rand Ortega

Lots of men of color on the red carpet because summer action movies require terrorists, thugs and super-villains!
    Hollywood! Gotta love it!

    Gotta love TLo!

Thank you for being the brilliant cultural commentators that you are! If you’re ever on the Left Coast, dinner is on me!

  • Young Sun

His sheen and perma-grin make him look like he was just wheeled in from Madame Tussaud’s.

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Well, if nothing else the ‘capable of’ link confirmed I’ll be seeing this movie. And Byung-hun? Honey, step it up. No banker wear for you, you’re amazing.

  • MartyBellerMask

Hello, my friend. Nice to meet YOU.
    Viva Sausage Friday.

  • another_laura

WHOA – so very capable of so very much better. Let’s encourage this nice young man!

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Saw him in GI Joe. He is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

  • crash1212

Wow. I didn’t even recognize the above as the same guy in the linked pictures. He is capable of hotness – this is just sad. That said, I’m not a fan of the double-breasted suit on anybody, but this is about the best deployment of same seen in these pages of late.

  • ashtangajunkie

I think I might just google images of him when I’m having a bad day. Thanks for that.

  • Diego!

Isn’t he the guy of white ninja of GI Joe?? He has THE BODY! I wish he shared his diet secrets (???) LOL xD

On the other hand… what is that “going red” hair?? WTF?

  • nannypoo

He looks like he’s made of plastic so, yeah, GI Joe.

  • kimmeister

I’m getting “attaché to the ambassador” from him. He should look into blotting papers . . .

  • housefulofboys

Not only does he look like a banker on a hot day, but a really bland banker (wait, is that an oxymoron?). I’m glad I followed your link or I would have instantly forgotten his name.

  • decormaven

That’s one blown red carpet appearance. Thank you for playing; please try again.

  • Synnae

Ok, honey, that is not your look. But kudoos for having such great skin (if in need of some blotting paper) at age 43!

  • formerlyAnon

That is one good-looking man who is not looking entirely comfortable in his slightly too tight suit. But when I followed the link to other photos, I mourned. He can look WAY hotter.

  • dewofthedesert

Holy abs Batman! The man is Fit! Reminds me of a young Bruce Lee

    • julnyes

Except he is doesn’t actually look like Bruce Lee, is Korean not Chinese and is older than Bruce Lee was when he died.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Oh a link to the TLO post where he’s better dressed… OH, DAMN!

  • julnyes

He is way better than this red hair and baby banker’s suit is letting on.

  • Anniebet

Woo hoo, thanks for the link, TLo.

  • JDreesen

holy mother of god i had no idea the potential until i saw the hollywood access blogspot image in the link you provided. yes, the one with the smoke. i can’t help it. me likey, black lung be damned.

  • DilettanteDeconstructed

In the fourth picture down… is he giving the Vulcan sign?

  • prettybigkitty

OK, my initial thought was it’s respectable.. . .but then I clicked on the link. Ho Li Fuk, he’s HO-TRIPLE T HOT! What a major disappointment he did not bring it to the red carpet.

    • cowper

      Extra points for news reference!

  • demidaemon

Actually, for me, the tie is the only respectable part of the outfit. Everything else is yawn-worthy (clothing and shoes) or just outright terrible (the hair).

  • j_anson

I dunno. I think this is pretty cute.

  • quiltrx

He’s really cute, but he looks like he wants to show me all the features of some mansion.

  • ItsDicey

Oh yes, he’s certainly capable of MUCH more.

  • macwell

I gotta say, he looks good – from cut to fit. We need more ‘villians’ like this in movies and on the red carpet….

  • ankali

I was going to say that he looks adorable, and I stand by that. However, having taken a gander at his Google image search, I can see that TLo is right when they say he can do loads better.

  • H2olovngrl

    Loved the link! Yowza!

  • librarygrrl64

Fits him pretty well, but WAY too corporate for the red carpet. And let us not speak about that hair *shudder*.

  • GTrain

I just love that you did a post on him, regardless of the outfit!

  • Stacy Feng

I cannot look at a Korean celebrity without thinking “I wonder how much work he/she had done on his/her face…”

For lady stars, it’s probably ALL OF IT.
