A couple of the coats are really pretty.

    • VicD

I will take that burgundy croc-texture trench, STAT!

      • Joan Golann

        no way I call dibs!

  • Annarosa

    Naomi rocks it!

Not bad, Donatella, but you can do better.

My favourite? The Iron Man coat.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

So glad to know that Donatella has stayed with her maxim that good taste is for lesser beings than herself and her clients.
V, stands for Versace, and also for Vulgar.

    • StellaZafella

Pre-fabricated stripper clothes…their already half off.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And they aren’t even flattering in most cases. A total fail, IMHO.

        • omg_dora

I keep trying to zip them up mentally because the size and positioning of the hole and the flap look so unflattering — like the dresses couldn’t possibly be meant to be worn this way. But I guess DV’s not into making people look good any more than she is into tastefulness.

      • Rand Ortega

My 1st thought upon seeing the collection, ‘If you have to work the pole for filthy lucre, insist on being properly outfitted’.

    • Lucía Gavello

I thought “wow, she is really diving head first in the tacky pool now”, but when I got to the last jumpsuit I realised she may have drowned.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Long ago, my dear, long ago.

      • Rand Ortega

        FTW!

    • barbarienne

      (tongue slightly in cheek)

Naw, I think she’s just going with a different inspiration. The last few designer’s collections for women seemed to be drawing on the Game of Thrones/LOTR/high fantasy aesthetic. This collection is going for the Paranormal Fantasy crowd.

The first part of the collection is all “What happens when a dressed-up paranormal investigator gets into a fight (or has sex) with a werewolf?” The second half is all Vampire Queen of the Damned, bow-down-before-me-mortal.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

All very well when one is after high end cosplay gear. But even in the rarified environs of the red carpet, most of this is flat out unwearable.

        • demidaemon

For cosplay gear that is bound to be drenched with sweat and whatever else can be found in a convention center or elsewhere, this seems a mite high end.

        • Airkisses

This collection is going to put so many starlets who attempt to use it on year-end Worst Dressed lists

    • drdarke

That fifth from the bottom look – wasn’t that what JLo wore in THE CELL when Evil Vincent D’Onfrio tried making her into his mental sex slave, @Kiltdntiltd ?

As for the entire collection: Somewhere in The Great Hereafter, STAR TREK’s original Costume Designer William Ware Theiss is looking at these, punching his fist in the air and bellowing, “YES!”

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

        Could be, Dr D.
And Bill Thiess’ work had a hell of a lot more charm and taste than this overwrought stuff.

        • drdarke

Well, I didn’t say it was a good homage to Theiss, @kiltdntiltd:disqus ! Just that he’d be happy somebody picked up the torch – even as badly as this….

Yeah – there are a couple sorta-nice pieces (that burgundy leather coat looks good, f’instance), and a whole hell of a lot of WTF?ery.

    • Levedi

As a giant SFF geek, I love this collection. I want to see it in an overwrought, futuristic Brothers Grimm meets Flash Gordon dystopia movie. The kind that will get justifiably panned by the critics for being all spectacle and no plot and that will become a cult classic. So basically, I’m agreeing with you about the vulgarity, while wanting to see this on the silver screen.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It is frankly, the only possible realm where these clothes could look “right”.

  • Jeremiah Capacillo

    Naomi Campbell, bitches.

    • Anplica Fiore

She’s twice the age of the other models and she is STILL killing it more.

      • stayl

She even looks better in the second photo. Ha!

  • Diego!

Shiny. Bitchy. Slutty. + Naomi Campbell = GREAT COLLECTION! Donatella, this was an amazing collection!

  • veleri

I’m quite disappointed, I would say it is “too elegant” to be versace.

  • nannypoo

Wow. An entire collection without even one attractive piece.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I like the wine colored coat (pic 3) but that’s about it.

    • veleri

and surely Heidi will however find her way to Versace’s closet.

  • TLJezebel

Am I wrong to love this collection? That purple number with the slit up to her hoo-haw is fierce.

    • mmebam

      We will be wrong together.

      Also, Naomi Campbell! *mic drop*

    • Denise Alden

I know! So much of this is wrong, but I don’t want to be right!

  • CommentsByKatie

I like some of the coats and one or two of the dresses, but overall I really don’t like this collection. The hooks and eyes series was a big mistake. And I haaaaaaaaaaaaate that exposed lingerie look. I’m all for experimentation, but that’s just eye-rolling. They needed Tim Gunn there to remind them, “Is this at all aesthetically pleasing?”

    • MoHub

Actually the “aesthetically pleasing” line belongs to Nina Garcia. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had it copyrighted.

      • CommentsByKatie

Ah, I think you’re right. I do remember him having a talk with a designer about a similar concept though…maybe it was ‘Is it pretty?’

        • MoHub

Nina delivered it to Santino Rice in the underwear challenge in season 2, and he reacted so badly Tim blogged that production thought the police would have to be called in.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Atelier Versace: all Vegas, all the time.

    • CommentsByKatie

I’m all for Vegas and tacky, usually, but this is just ugly.

  • Shawn EH

Scariest half-dressed girls I’ve ever seen. And lovely Naomi! Versace is going a tiny bit Gaultier, in a good way!

  • Courtenay P

    This was fun. Love it.

  • In_Stitches

What’s this collection called? Exposure? Not in love with the whole idea of embellished seams, seemingly coming apart for the “fabulously sexy reveal!” There are a few bits that are truly fabulous though, as one would expect.

  • shawna

What is the deal with all these bodysuits??? They are not classy nor flattering. Ugh.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Tacky and without a sense of humor about it. I’m not a fan of Versace in general, but this is one of my least favorite of their recent collections.

  • bassfemme

Cohesive, visually stunning, yes. Current? not really. The underwear as outerwear look peaked in 1999 and the ripped shoulder look needs to retire asap! I didn’t even like it in 1993. Fearfully, it looks like Donatella is looking to Stella for inspiration. Gasp!

  • AzulFashion

Half of them look like the girl has been in a “cat fight” and had her clothes ripped half off. This has got to stop. Designers we want the women’s body to be respected.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

There are plenty of ways to make a woman look attractive, interesting and sexy, without resorting to making her look like a pole dancer at a third rate Reno casino.

      • KirFla

I keep picturing Halle Berry in them. While she would look stunning because she IS stunning, she would also look like a pole dancer at a third rate Reno casino. No?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I am the first person in line to love flash, for flash’s sake. However there still has to be taste and thoughtfulness behind it. Sure, Halle Berry could wear some of these things and quite probably elevate them considerably, but it would take someone of her beauty, poise and presence to do so.

That said, yep, she would still look like the aforementioned pole dancer.

      • Nancer

I so agree with you! When I was looking at this collection, I veered between thinking that some of the pieces were sublime to thinking WTF is this? I love clothing that accentuates the female form, but some of this just veers to looking porny. And not in a good way. Very expensive porn, no doubt. But still porn.

  • oatmealpie

Oooooh, that maroon snakeskin coat. *covetcovet*

  • MoHub

Most of these look as if they were rushed to the runway before the construction crew had a chance to finish sewing them together.

  • padma sallah

I am amazed they didnt even think to put Miss Naomi in one of the coats. Not that she isnt killing it, but I think putting her in one of the coats would have amazing. Which brings me to the only thing I like about this collection. The coats.

What is this half-way rip off wear? It looks so tacky.

  • Belvane

    It’s all Cher-wear.

    • kimmeister

Cher from 20-30 years ago. Nowadays she seems to wear knee-length loincloths over pants.

      • Aurumgirl

Except Bob Mackie was/is always far more tasteful. The model in photo #21–with the black slashed across the body dress? Has an expression on her face that screams “What the fuck am I doing with my life in this thing?”

  • Leigh Montano

Is it bad that I can look at the outfits and picture which drag queen would wear it best?

  • Glam Dixie

A few gorgeous pieces mixed in with a whole lotta tacky. Typical Versace.

  • hughman

Grab the pitchforks and torches, bitches. THIS is what a Frankendress is all about.

  • WendyD

aka The What Halle Berry will wear to show off her post-baby body Collection

  • carnush

I love that Naomi is the star here, but why no other models of color?

  • majorbedhead

    Of course.

  • marlie

I’d cut a bitch for the red leather coat in the third picture. I also like the Black/silver coat in the 9th pic. The bra/bustier dresses/gowns/tops are a little too… MUCH. But the royal blue, red, and the structured black evening gowns (7th, 5th, and 3rd from the bottom)are gorgeous.

  • quiltrx

I’m not easily offended at all, but I can imagine the pieces that look like the woman has been attacked aren’t going to be very well-received in some sectors.

I do like some of the pieces–the coatdress (with the big reflection off the buckle) is my favorite. I like the aubergine gown, and gowns 22, 24, 26 if I counted correctly. But I know myself well enough to realize I like those ones I numbered because they’re a bit Balmain-ish.

    • seanasimpson

      “Aubergine”

      So pretentious. It’s fucking Purple.

Sorry, I saw an opportunity to paraphrase the best quote to ever come out of PR and I took it.

  • Ramon Figueroa

    Naomi Campbell is a vampire…

  • YoungSally

Wear a couple of these and the term “wardrobe malfunction” will be forever banished from the language. It’s style, Baby!

  • KikiAvocado

I actually like some of the illusion netting on the dresses….a lot of it looks virtually unwearable by non models

  • PeggyOC

95% of this is going to end up looking ugly on Kristen Stewart. But that Oxblood leather coat is the best thing ever. It needs to come and be my friend.

    • conniemd

totally, totally agree. But the bordello bras are definitely too much.

  • kimmeister

One model looks like she has an Ironman battery in the middle of her belly, embedded her her black coat.

  • d4divine

….somebody is tripping on sequins and zippers…with a side of molly

    • d4divine

      Allegedly…hahaha

  • RuthGo

I feel like I love about as many outfits as I despise.

  • Rand Ortega

This isn’t fashion. It’s a commercial for celebrities shopping for the RC (the Emmys are in less than 2 months). I’m just ticking off ladystars to their appropriate look:

#12: Julianne Moore: Tasteful yet provocative

#14: Sandra Bullock: a longer version would have just the right amount of skin

#17: Halle Berry (post baby): Very Elie Saab

#23: Cate Blanchett because the Swinton wouldn’t be caught dead in Versace

#18 & 25: KStew: perfectly cray for Princess Doodle of Whacka

    Everything else: JLo

    • demidaemon

      Love KStew’s new moniker!

  • another_laura

How does Naomi manage it? What a way to start a show!

  • MilaXX

Not bad considering the source. I’m sure Miley and Riri will be happy

    • Tess Danesi

Let’s not forget Heidi. So of these have her name already sewn into them.

    • seanasimpson

I thought Kylie would wear a couple pieces too.

  • Monabel

    Not at all.

  • Qitkat

Behind the scenes, a busy little elf from Frederick’s of Hollywood has infiltrated the Versace atelier.

  • Donna Tabor

The deconstructed look can also look like spontaneous deconstruction. As in, the seams didn’t quite hold.

    • Lori

I was thinking more “assault victim”, which is even worse.

  • Meg

So many pieces look meant for Kristen Stewart…

  • ConnieBV

Maybe three things there didn’t make me want to kill myself.

  • crash1212

Best part of this collection is Naomi.

  • unbornfawn

Now we know what the tacky starlets will be wearing this season.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Did she lose a bet to Stella McCartney? Also, the combined level of craziness eminating off those supermodels.

  • bertkeeter

High earning ladies of the night?

  • Anniebet

As I scrolled down I kept thinking… Miley, Miley, Miley, etc. NOT a good thing.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

that last blue jumpsuit would look great on carmen carrera.

  • Juan S. Esteves

6th look totally for gwen stefani

  • KayEmWhy

Love the black coat with the round belt buckle.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

Clearly inspired by Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction. At least the colors are rich enough to drink.

  • titaness25

If I wanted to look half-undressed, I’d buy a regular dress and leave it half open.

  • silaria

These are GORGEOUS. I love the colors, the textures, and the shapes outlines by the exaggerated seaming. Not a huge fan of the underwear, but I love the idea of the collection, especially the coats and jackets.

  • PrunellaV

I don’t think I really saw anything after that red crocodile coat. It’s like a super luxe version of one I wore in the late 70s. I want it badly.

  • demidaemon

Well, I love that Naomi opened the show and worked it out. Otherwise, it is very Versace. Take that how you will.

  • seanasimpson

I’m getting straight up late 90′s with this collection. Midriffs, Plastic, cut-outs, pant suits with no shirt.. It’s 1999 by way of 2013.

  • joything

    Deep Space Nine.

  • Jeff Warhurst

    Cougar-wear.

  • DarkWillow

I could see a couple of these on David Bowie.

  • ItsDicey

What collection? Naomi’s bringing it. It’s all kinda’ crazy fab, though.

  • Rebecca Clifford

Really tacky skating outfits. It’s collections like this that make me miss Gianni. Sure, there was vulgarity but he knew how to make it interesting what with the cut, the draping. This is just …..

  • H2olovngrl

Naomi Campbell, you are one fierce bitch!

  • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

There is a plum gown almost half-way down; it’s one piece with a high slit up the left side. I think it’s lovely.

But most of these pieces are too harsh, and the lines are wacky and unflattering, even obnoxious.

  • jangma

I don’t even care, this collection is giving me everything!

  • Aaminah Khan

Surely you should END a show with Naomi.

  • Louise Bryan

A few spectacularly beautiful pieces, and a whole lot of deconstructed, tacky, slutty mess.

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

Go home, Versace, you are drunk.

…Except for that weirdo-necked red number, which is practically begging for Uma Thurman to wear it.

  • spooki C

That red dress is giving me life. Everything else is meh.

  • Kikishua

3 (burgundy croc coat), 9 (black coat with lens flare buckle), 14 (JLo in The Cell) to me please. The rest of you outfits can leave the stage and jump in a dumpster.

  • Roza

Tacky showgirl collection. The trenchcoat with the SHINY medusa belt and radiating beadwork is DIVINE. Otherwise the rest are all JLO stage costumes. All that alligator looks ’70′s to me.

    • Stacy Feng

I bet JLo and the Kluminator are fighting tooth-and-nail for these though!

  • http://www.fatladysings.us/ TFLS

    Really? Hmmm. Not feeling it.

    • Stacy Feng

Me neither. Last season’s was better.
