The shape is atrocious. Maybe without the kick pleat? It just doesn’t seem to sit right – on her or the model. Very odd. The styling is making me weep.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

It’s too obvious where the neckline is pinned for modesty. Throws the lines off.

  • decormaven

That’s some child-like hair and some serious shoes. Complete disconnect. Don’t wear those shoes without polish on the toes, dear.

  • MoHub

This looks like part of a three-piece set, but she forgot the other two pieces. And the shoes are multiple sizes too big.

    • leahpapa

What is the deal with celebs having ill-fitting shoes? Seems to happen a lot.

      • marlie

They wear loaners/whatever the stylist/designer has on hand. Often, that means that the shoes are way too big.

        • MoHub

Sometimes they just look too big because the heels are so high their feet slide forward. But in this case, there’s a huge gap in the heel, but her toes still don’t reach the front of the sole.

Some podiatrists are going to be laughing all the way to the bank.

  • mjude

i kinda like it but i wish the back wasnt a cut out.

    • kirkyo

This. I didn’t notice the cutout at first but now that its been pointed out, I agree.

  • Virginia McMurdo

    Yikes.

  • Diego!

OMG… this is a mess! Let’s start from head to toe:
Hair = AWFUL, it makes her head look like a balloon.
Make up / Contact lens (WTF?) = Non existant / WTF (again)
    Jewelry = Missing
Dress = It looks as if she had lost 300 pounds and is wearing one of her old fat days dress. It’s terrible.
Legs = Please take lessons how to pose on the red carpet.
Shoes = Aunt shoes, they make look her feet older.

Girl, please fire all the people who made transform into this. You’re welcome.

    • drdarke

@diegoelunico:disqus – and if you’re One of the Beige People? Makeup Is Your Friend….

      • Diego!

Yeah, but CLEARLY she has NO friends at all!

        • drdarke

          Ohh! @Diego! – you’re a mean and nasty human being ….

          …And it’s a pleasure to know you!

          • Diego!

Ha! I’m not mean, I’m just being honest! And it’s an honor to know you as well! :D

    • Tatiana Luján

But that is the natural color of her eyes, those are not contacts.

  • LaSylphide

Looks better with the scarf. Up close the hair is ok, but from a distance, it look messy.

  • camdiggidy

She needs bangs. And toe polish. And arm/ear jewelry. Jesus H.

  • Miss WKS

You know what pisses me off? Starlets who make Dior look like Dress Barn. Starlets who have NO idea how to wear amazing clothes. Do they KNOW how privileged they are? They stand there like they’re in line at the DMV. in DIOR. I am so sick of seeing this. A little RESPECT ladies. If you can’t handle the label go back to your damn Juicy Couture…SHIT!

    • Rand Ortega

      PREACH!

    • marlie

Honestly, I think that’s what TLo want to write half of the time.

    • decormaven

This. I’m going to fault the stylist, because this dress is clearly a loaner from the design house. If a designer is loaning an outfit, please accord some respect and fit the client properly with accessories, shoes and decent hair/makeup. Whoever served as stylist here is going to have a hard time getting another Dior look with the shabby treatment this received.

    • ankali

She’s not really a Juicy Couture starlet, I don’t think. Her (very fine) work up to this point has generally been as a character actress in lower-profile projects. I think her awkwardness in the clothes probably stems less from a lack of respect for couture and more from the fact that she’s had very little practice with it and with the RC.

    • Charles

Why should she show ‘respect’ for an ill-fitting dress that bared more than she was willing to show? Clothes need to serve the person who wears them, no matter what the label. The stylist needed to find a better choice.

    • PeaceBang

Alison Pill is NOT A STARLET. She’s a brilliant actor who has been toiling in the vineyards of total obscurity for longer than Taylor Swift has been alive. So Shut It.

  • Yulie29

Is she trying to channel Kristen Bell? Because it’s not working all that well.

    • filmcricket

I keep thinking it’s KBell, too. I’d like to think she’d infuse this with a bit more life. That may just be me conflating my regard for Veronica Mars and my disdain for Pill’s character on The Newsroom, though. Not sure I’ve ever encountered a more punchable TV heroine.

      • gracedarling

I kept hoping she’s get hit by the SATC your bus – probably not the intended viewer reaction.

  • Stella Zawistowski

    An accessory…please god, any accessory.

    • Rand Ortega

What in God’s name is that on the back of her collar? A pin? A broach? A Pterodactyl? (sorry, “Airplane” reference. I couldn’t resist)

  • Insidiously

I understand the thought process behind the dress “Cheeky, news inspired! Journalist sexy chic!” but the 90′s teenage drama queen hair has GOT to go, it is HORRIBLE. This needs a belt and some fancy hair with decent jewelry.

  • MilaXX

BLAND yet another case of everything from the neck up not matching the dress. Give this dress to Evan Rachel Wood or Rooney Mara. It needs someone who can make it sing.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    It’s just so…..unfinished.

  • PastryGoddess

    Bad hair
    Face of Meh
    Bad Dress
    Cheap shoes

Go home dear and try again

  • marlie

The dress is too literal. AND it doesn’t fit her well. Add to that the Pinterest hair and non-existent makeup… Honey, go home and start all over again.

    • frumpybiscuits

Agree on the pinterest/youtube hair. Just because you watched a video about how to achieve this “style” doesn’t mean it will work well on you!
Is she growing out her hair? Is that why it’s an awkward length? Growing out hair is hell.

      • marlie

Please take that back; I *just* got 4 inches chopped off this weekend. ;)

Joking aside, her hair is plenty long for a “style.” This just looks lazy and/or amateurish.

        • frumpybiscuits

I have had bobs too!! You are good.
It’s exactly that it looks sad and amateurish – which is a hallmark of “I don’t want this hair length but must endure”; rather than a purposeful style which says “Look at mah cute hair”.
Side note I just got a fringe this weekend. Yay, haircut weekend!

  • bertkeeter

DIOR sure as hell ain’t what it used to be!

  • JauntyJohn

I love her so much in the role — she’s like a young Dianne Weist — that I cannot be too harsh. Let’s just call it “a little too unfinished.” As already noted, I can see the thinking behind the some of the choices.

  • teensmom99

I just want her to be dressed as Zelda Fitzgerald at all times.

  • BrooklynBomber

I thought the only thing I didn’t love about the dress was the length. Then I saw the encrusted collar and the open back.

  • jenno1013

    There’s not enough “there” there.

  • In_Stitches

It’s not perfect, but I love the idea. A coat-dress stripped of it’s formality, just pure business is a very cool idea for a premiere for your show about the news.

    • decormaven

Yes, and that’s why it’s so sad the ball got dropped on this.

  • Katesymae

This looks bad on the model, worse on her, and I want to set that hair and those shoes on fire.

  • ashtangajunkie

I like the “dress,” and I honestly think it could work. This is a HUGE styling fail, from the top of her head to the tip of her toes.

  • Jessica Freeman

Alison here gets the prize today for putting in Zero Effort. Brava.

  • oatmealpie

    Nothing fits!

  • Richard

I’m yawning. I’m literally falling asleep looking at this.
The whole thing is very 1999, no?

  • El Bee

Plus, what about the safety pin keeping it closed at the cleavage? That I simply cannot accept.

  • crash1212

I really love that dress – awkward cleavage pinning aside. I like the hair, don’t mind the shoes. What’s really making me sad about this look is the horribly under-done face. WTF? It’s like they matted her down but then forgot to add – you know – the make-up…leaving her looking completely washed out and wan. It’s a crying shame.

  • kimmeister

She needs to take her hand out of the pocket, it’s ruining the lines even more than the pinned bust!

I’ve never seen her before but she is looking like a cross between Kaley Cuoco and Kate Bosworth.

  • omg_dora

Is it PINNED in the bust?! Really? A Dior dress?

  • conniemd

If you are too modest to wear a dress or top that shows too much cleavage, don’t wear it or put on an interesting something underneath it if it looks like a jacket or coat. But, never, ever pin it. That makes you look like a dork.

  • Random Compliments

    Pinterest hair. Ew.

  • Lauren Schneider

I find her character so obnoxious on Newsroom that I wondered–when I saw this and immediately grimaced–whether I can be objective towards the actress. So I’m glad to see that everybody else hates this look as much as I do.

  • demidaemon

Wow, this was a horrible red carpet. First Olivia Munn, and now this oversized man’s vest masquerading as a dress. Yuck.

  • NBG

I did not get past the hair. I’m out. Someone wake me when this damn Heidi phase is over.

  • Slanted & Enchanted

Oh. I kind of love this. Even though now I can’t unsee the shoddy pinning job, haha.

  • Laylalola

    I love the model’s shoes.

  • wanderlustlive

    No no no…

  • H2olovngrl

Why oh why would you want to match the color of the drab gray back drop?

  • jmorino08

What?! No!! This looks like the losing entry in a PR “turn this menswear into womenswear” challenge. In the words of my 8 year old, WEAK SAUCE!

  • amanda lynn

ooooh, someone’s on the “California Diet”.

  • PeaceBang

Alison Pill is amazing. She is a chameleon, a Bohemian NYC type — not a Hollywood starlet. You’ve seen her in lots of things and wouldn’t recognize her. This is a FABULOUS look for her. No one gets to criticize Alison Pill, man. She did her own hair and she’s more talented than God.

  • altissima

Is it just me, or is there something strange about her pose in the last photo? …It looks as though her legs have been swapped to the wrong sides!

  • MissAmynae

I absolutely LOVE this. Could it use a tweak or two? Sure. But danged if she doesn’t look cute and comfortable in her own skin. Takes cojones to wear a dress like that, and she’s got em.
