Zosia Mamet in Preen at Glamour Awards

Posted on June 05, 2013

Zosia Mamet, here is some free (unasked-for) advice.

Zosia Mamet attends the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2013 in London in a Preen sleeveless embellished dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.

Preen By Thornton Bregazzi Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Kel Markey

When you put on the pretty, sparkly dress and pretty, pointed, pumps, you might want to rethink the serious hair and hipster makeup. Loosen up a little, hon. Pretty dresses require the right kind of makeup and hair. No one will think less of you if you skip the winged eye and the severe center part just this once. What about some shimmer and a little blowout, hmm? No one will die.

        There’s that.

      • SassieCassy

she deserves an in for that alone

      • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

Pretty much the first thing I said when I saw this post.

      • Heather

Also, she’s not wearing sneakers. Those shoes are super cute.

    • marlie

This isn’t quite so bad – it’s a cute little dress. I could live with the severe eye if she had a *little* color on her lips. And girl, that’s NOT your hairstyle. Also, I think I’m just happy with her for cracking a smile!

    • Beardslee

My 17 year old sometimes does eyeliner wings (thought not that big) and I can’t stand them. Pretty dress, gloomy head.

    • Katerina

      That eyeliner is NOT flattering

      • http://twitter.com/kendallbrunson SassyMcFrench

Agreed! And it looks like the only thing on her face! No blush, no lipstick. She’s so cute and pretty, but this makes her look a Mamet-bot.

    • elleg929

Whoever did her makeup clearly hates her.

      • Heather

        Methinks she did it herself.

    • WendyD

Cat eyes do not go with SEVERE HAIR.

    • random_poster

If they ever do a Ruth Buzzi biopic, she’s it.

      • Mb

        You nailed it. LOL.

      • filmcricket

Oh my God. Comment of the week, right here.

      • Ozski

Ouch! But I have to agree with you there and, as with any Laugh-In reference, I am on-board!

      • NYCGlamourpuss

        Haaaaah! That’s perfect!

      • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

        That is hilarious.

    • AmeliaEve

If you are going to do the eyeliner wings, you need to shape the brows to go with. This look is like putting a necktie on over a T shirt.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Yeah, the dress and shoes are great, the overly severe hair and makeup kill it dead.

      • andreawey

I think it’s the only hair style she knows…….sadly……

    • SassieCassy

i like mod eyeliner but i dont think the look suits her

    • hughman

In Soviet Russia, the eyeliner wear you.

      • titaness25

        ALL the likes.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Damn it, a day away from TLo and I miss comments like this.

    • Nancer

I agree with you on this. It would look so much better with looser hair – which I think would flatter her much more than the severe look she’s working now. Cute dress!

    • AutumnInNY

Would like to see her with softer make-up and looser hair agree with all.
I miss her on MM. Peggy could use a friend right about now.

    • BrooklynBomber

Hard to imagine any circumstance in which that eye liner would “enhance one’s natural beauty.” If you’re gonna do it, though, go the full Liz Taylor, not this noncommittal magic marker squiggle.

    • Mona_Visa

She looks like a passive-aggressive 13 year-old who is being forced to go to her cousin’s birthday party. Her mother bought her a perfectly nice dress, but she will NOT do her hair. The eye-makeup is sure to make Dad angry. Mom & Dad will think twice before they make little Zosia do this again.

      • VeryClaire

This is all the more wonderful because she looks like my cousin’s moody emo teenage daughter. You nailed it!

    • MilaXX

This is such a vast improvement over her past few RC appearances I am willing to forgive the unfortunate winged eye. She looks lovely.

    • RebeccaKW

The winged eyeliner is veering into Cleopatra territory. The dress is cute on her, but everything happening with the head is fighting it.

    • SewingSiren

The dress is great. If she was going to go with the Ronette eyeliner she should have gone with a big ol’ beehive hairdo too. I bet she could pull it off.

      • Snailstsichr

        Wouldn’t that be fun!

    • Rand Ortega

I give her an IN for 2 reasons: She’s smiling. & the hair & makeup makes her resemblance to her amazing mom, Lindsay Crouse really stand out. Cute dress, though.

    • Guidosdaddy

She needs to kickstart that Egyptian eyeliner right off her face.

      • Nonmercisansfacon

I see what you did there!

    • ConnieBV

They style her so much better on Girls. She should take a cue.

    • mmebam

When I was skimming, I thought it said “marmoset.” I was disappointed to find none and will console myself with videos on YouTube. Zosia Marmoset is the coolest name ever.

      Also, no to the eyeliner.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

You are the best gay uncles I girl could ask for. If only we could make her listen.

    • Calinda_L

She should have used the Chanel rule about losing one accessory, except in her case it should be one less hair/face/head element. Between the center part, the darkened brows, the winged liner and the spider lashes, it’s just too much.

    • Spicytomato1

Love the dress. Love that style of eyeliner but it seems wasted here. I wouldn’t have known what to do to fix this, but you are exactly right. Softer, looser hair and makeup would be perfect. That’s why they pay you the big bucks, right?

      • MilaXX

It doesn’t flatter her eye shape or the hair style. Simple mascara, a ouch of gloss since her lips seem to be a bit pigmented naturally and a little blush would fix the face. The hair needs to be let loose and lightly curled. Even a high pony sans center part would work better than this school marm center part.

    • Anniebet

      Dress, yes. Rest, no.

    • Jeff Warhurst

      She looks awful.

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

      Lip color, please!

    • nannypoo

If she would give up this ridiculous persona and take a chance on looking pretty she just might succeed.

    • ashtangajunkie

She needs a little more Shoshanna girliness in her real-life style.

    • formerlyAnon

When she’s 50 she’ll regret the wasted opportunities to play with other looks, ones coordinated to her frocks, even. Youth being wasted on the young, etc. etc.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I feel like she’s trying to work a SERIOUS FASHION EDITOR thing but the winged eyeliner and center part just aren’t the way to go. That dress is gorgeous, but it needs fun shoes and hair and makeup to match. So close!

    • alyce1213

Ruth Buzzi as Gladys Ormphby on “Laugh In.” All she needs is the hairnet.

      • Donna Tabor

        Exactly!! LOL

        • majorbedhead

That’s EXACTLY who I was thinking of!

      • MoHub

        Would you like a Walnetto?

    • siriuslover

Plus, I’d say, choose either the winged eye or the heavy brow, but not both. Personally, I prefer the heavy (natural) brow.

    • conniemd

Not being an MM watcher, I don’t know the woman, but my immediate thought was girl that’s not your dress, or alternatively dress, that’s not your hair/makeup.

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

the dress is great, the shoes OK, and I never noticed before how shapely her legs are. She’s in desperate need of a reliable hair-makeup person though.

    • Denise Plank

      Very pretty dress.

    • melanie0866

      That dress is really cute.

With her heavy, dark brows, she should NEVER do heavy liner on her top lids, and she needs a bold lip to balance them out.

    • pattycap11

      “no one will die” *snort

    • l_c_ann

The tat on her right foot commemorates her removing that foot from the arse of most of the rest of the world.

    • bertkeeter

She takes frumpy to a whole new level!

    • clairellis

I can’t stand her. She’s frighteningly unattractive. Seriously. Can’t stand to look at her face.

      • MilaXX

I don’t think she’s unattractive, it’s just the hipster styling. If she went the glam route with hair and makeup I think she could be surprisingly pretty.

        • demidaemon

I agree with MilaXX. It’s like she purposely styles herself against her clothing, so as to make herself look unattractive (or alternately, glum and unapproachable). As Carmindy says, you need to highlight your best features, and she has failed at that here.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

From the smile down, everything works.

    • Contralto

The girl appears to be embracing an aggressively and intentionally unattractive look so that people will Take Her Seriously As An Artist.

    • Imasewsure

I actually thought I hated the dress until our dear uncles pointed out that the problems were all North of the neck… the details on the dress are gorgeous… a good blow out and less pretentious makeup would have saved this one for sure.

    • Reality TV Casting

she would have looked better with a paperbag on her head

      • Reality TV Casting

        …and more hipster

    • demidaemon

My advice would have been a little different: Don’t wear hideous dresses with loincloth flaps.

    • ZnSD

      Nope. Can’t do it.

    • ankali

I get the hipsterism, but the eye makeup overshoots ironic and lands in childish. She looks like she drew the wings in with a Crayola.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

zozia, honey, the cat eye is not your friend.

    • lilyvonschtupp

Does she work for Dr. Evil?

    • MoHub

Girl needs a bra. The girls are almost at her waist.

    • blueberrypanckae

I would love to see her for once with her hair down soft and a softer makeup…and a smile! The moody hipster schtick is old!

    • Lizzyisi

      What a beautiful dress.

    • Tuneful54

With a dash of Joel Grey in “Cabaret.” “Willkommen, mesdames et messieurs!”

    • NYCGlamourpuss

“When you put on the pretty, sparkly dress and pretty, pointed, pumps,
you might want to rethink the serious hair and hipster makeup.”

THIS. Nothing more for me to add!

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

she just seems so concerned that shes not “bohemian” enough, its annoying. dear, youre on “mad men” and “girls”, i think your bohemian creds are established.

its actually a cute dress. the cat-eyes are wack.

    • Chuck Barthelme

I’m not usually a huge advocate for hair coloring, but a color that doesn’t match her eyes, so her eyes would stand out better would be good for her.

    • shelley514

Why does she never do anything with her hair? Someone must have lied to her and told her she looks best with her hair pulled back.

    • Pennymac

Poor girl. Named after a type of lawn grass.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

The dress is super cute with a nice fit. I hate the winged eye; I was present for the first run of this makeup fad. I think loose hair would complete the look. I actually like the red shoes on the runway. They’re a bit much in a way, but they make the look kinda hip and youthful.
