Zoe Saldana in Alexander McQueen

Posted on June 25, 2013

Smile, Miss Zoe. You’re wearing a gorgeous dress.

Zoe Saldana attends the after party for the ‘Palmarina Bodrum’ opening night at the Billionaire Club in Bodrum, Turkey in Alexander McQueen.

Alexander McQueen Printed Wool Knit Dress

Alexander McQueen Wrap Pointy Pumps

Love the shoes.

… and that’s about it. We suppose it would have been more worthy of our attention if she’d somehow managed to get this wrong, since it’s the kind of dress so perfect for her you’d think it was tailor-made to her specifications. But no, it’s just a pretty, stylish gal in a pretty, stylish dress. Sometimes even we can rein in our bitchy, judgmental impulses and just let the pictures speak for themselves.

But not all the time. That belt seems unnecessary.

yup that sizes it up. And kudos that they made a version for her with a longer hem to accommodate her proportions

  • Nothing Bad to say at all. the lady looks marvelous.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Bored face in McQueen at the Billionaire Club in Turkey. Guess I’m not up for 1st world problems today. Maybe she’s not either.

  • Annarosa

Like the shorter version on the model. Nothing to complain about, though.

    • Like pretty much everything about the model version better. That’s rare when assessing a Zoe look.

    • charlotte

See, and I think it looks more like a long shirt than like a dress on the model.

  • Eh, it reads a little Fall to me and I don’t care for the bulky belt.

    • drdarke

I think the belt looks fine with this outfit, @annabelle_archer:disqus – the whole look is fine, though I could do without the same smirk in every shot.

      • But it’s staring at me! The belt gives the eyes, the pattern below the mouth. So now I have smirky pattern and smirky Zoe.

        • drdarke

          Find your State of Clear….

The pattern is not smirking at you, @annabelle_archer:disqus – just because Zoe is….

        • Lisa Utter

I got that too. Kinda thought her lady parts were smiling. Creepy.

  • Introspective

great dress with a fab silhouette. nice shoes too. but her countenance says she’s clearly over these paid appearances at the opening of an envelope.

(bet she still cashed that check though…)

  • ballerinawithagun

    Hate the belt! Great dress.

    • Yep, agree that the belt seems totally unnecessary.

  • Jessica Freeman

She’s usually working the shit out of her clothes, and if she was, this would be a WERQ.

  • Sheneve Butler

Yeah, the dress definitely looks better without the belt. Besides that there are no other complaints. The model’s toes are distracting, I think I focused more on her toes coming out of the shoes than the way the dress looked on her.

    • Poeta Paz

I know! I can’t believe they picked that picture of the model with her toes hanging out!!!

    • Perditax

I didn’t notice so I scrolled back up to check. Now I wish I hadn’t!

  • In_Stitches

The belt and shoes are a bit ‘witch-y’, but that dress is so damn fabulous I want to give it a werq despite the look’s flaws. Hair and makeup are flattering and appropriate.

  • alyce1213

Pretty dress, agree the belt is unnecessary and cuts the line of the pattern.
I’m so glad that shooves and other ridiculous platforms are starting to going away. I love a beautiful, regular pump.

  • Judy_S

I think she’s just delightful in this dress. I guess I have a weakness for pretty girls in pretty dresses.

  • MilaXX

This may sound weird but I think she wore the belt because the dress is too big on her. It’s not fitting nearly as slinky as it is on the model & I suspect without the belt this would look a bit shapeless on her.

    • Sara__B

That’s exactly what I think. There’s too much length through the torso, and it’s bunching up. The belt helps disguise that.

  • marlie

It’s pretty, and she looks nice, but overall it’s rather boring or tame, for her.

  • I agree with your assessment. She looks great. The belt actually gets lost in the dress.

  • Lesley

loose the puss on your face zoe you should be grinning ear to ear in that dress.. freakin’ fabulousss

  • Bree The Vole

Beautiful woman in a beautiful dress. Yet I must point out that her crotch is totally smiling.

  • IAmJ

The model’s toes are crying out for help.

  • Candigirl1968

    Nice and polished.
Also shows that interesting shoes can be light and pretty. They don’t have to be overly complicated gladiator S&M contraptions.

  • Glam Dixie

I wish she’d worn the shorter version like the model’s.

  • mickiemonkey

The model’s toes have escaped and are running down the street somewhere.

  • Judih1

she wanted a belt to show off her tiny her waist is, but we already know that

  • Nonmercisansfacon

Her posing reminds me of the stance we all automatically assumed when we had to face the Mother Superior in primary school. Hands crossed at the back, legs crossed and a vaguely repentant ‘ Surely I have done something wrong but I do not know what it is so please forgive me’ face.

  • TheAmericaness

OMG! The shoes on the model! Ouch!!! Zoe looks FAB!

  • librarygrrl64

Oh, I like the belt. Overall, the dress looks better on her than on the model anyway. 🙂

  • She looks great, and the belt doesn’t bug me at all.

    • murt

Yes I really like the belt – it’s probably my favourite part of the outfit.

  • Aaminah Khan

This is the first time in a while she’s actually looked really, really good. I was getting worried for a moment there.

  • quiltrx

That’s a really pretty dress! I’m with you, I’m doubting the belt choice.

  • ailujailuj

but the model inset… WTF? seriously? as much as those shoes cost they can’t bother to get the right size on her (I know that happens kind of often but still…)? toes creeping out over the platform like they’re trying to get away from the foot… fuck me. can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a most gorgeous girl prancing down the street in the fiercest pair of blahniks – only to catch a glimpse of the toes walking just a bit ahead of her.

  • my thoughts exactly about the belt. unnecessary and out of place. but without it she’d need a little more flash in the shoes.

  • Elleachaudaucul

The belt would be okay for certain occasions, but it doesn’t say ‘after party.’
