Wow – someone’s been possessed by Judy Garland. I think she looks really good, but I want her tassel to hang half an inch closer to her hip. But that is really picking the nittiest of nits.

      • Lizzy

        Exactly my first thought!

        • majorbedhead

I had the exact same thought! It’s kind of creepy, actually.

      • Lesley

my second thought, my first thought was what the hell did she do to her face?! such a shame.

        • MauveSF

She was in a car accident and needed reconstructive surgery.

          • foodycatAlicia

Oh T.Lo does love it so much when that gets trotted out.

            • Anathema_Device

Yeah. I was smacked down for that a year or two ago. I think she did have some surgery due to the accident, but then had quite a bit of “while I’m at it” work done.

            • Heather

Yes, the car accident was just a bad cut under her eye, from her glasses.

            • Tom and Lorenzo

Sniff. We’re so proud of you all.

            • kittenwithaquip

Whenever you have a Rose McGowan post I anxiously await the “what happened to her face” smackdown.

            • ailujailuj

I saw some photos – on the internet so it must be true! – after her accident and a couple of reconstructive surgeries and the scar under her eye was barely visible and she was just as lovely as ever. And then she went and did that. She was nearly impossible to watch on Once Upon a Time.

          • Maluca

Oh was that it? Yeah, cause she used to look so much “softer”. Overnight we got the current face and I just didn’t understand it. That said though, this is the best (and classiest) she’s looked in quite a while. She’s come a long way from that Marilyn Manson show-everything dress.

          • Lesley

oh wow i feel terrible. i had no idea.

          • Elizabeth Phillips

She started doing things to her lips long before the car accident. Since the accident, she’s had more things done to her face. I don’t know why – she used to be beautiful.

        • gabbilevy

          Car crash.

        • Rhonda Shore

bizarre lipliner and bad color lipstick.

        • korilian

Personally I still find it jarring to see her look so different, but she does actually look really good here. Her face is became very severe after the surgery, but I suspect it’s a look that will grow to really suit her as she ages.

      • 3boysful

Me, four! And it’s not Judy in a good place.

      • kim bunchalastnames

      • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

My first thought also. Is she supposed to be looking like Judy? Is there some kind of movie in the works or something?

      • paintedfish

yeah, when is the Judy biopic?

      • Sally3000

I was thinking more along the lines of Ashley Judd as Natalie Wood.

      • quiltrx

I always post before reading anyone else’s…loving that so many others saw exactly what I did. Now the question…did she go for the Judy, or did she get all dolled up and someone else noticed what we all see?

        • foodycatAlicia

          Must have been deliberate!

      • ZnSD

I literally thought “Judy, post re-hab, post dug-up, post.” Amazeballs.

    • Virginia McMurdo

Does she not look a lot like Judy Garland here?

      • annabelle archer

        Like a lot.

      • ankali

I was initially getting more Ava Gardner, I think because Rose has always had that sex kitten vibe. Looking at the photos again, though, yeah, total Judy Garland.

    • Kassandra Silas

Is it just me or does that color make her look terrible??

      • Mismarker

I don’t find it the least bit flattering.

      • getouttadodge

As my mother would say: you need more blush for that color.

    • Kiltdntiltd

Awesome dress! I’m not loving that choice of lip color with it. It seems jarring.

      • Heather

It’s the same color Hailee Seinfeld had on in yesterday’s posting. I despise it and it flatters NO ONE.

        • foodycatAlicia

I reckon there are some women of colour who could WERQ it, but I have never seen it suit a white woman… although my mum is convinced she can wear it.

          • Chickadeep

I think it flatters a particular subset of white women: those crazy old octogenarians who wear the super-bright Lily Pulitzer prints, ginormous focus-pulling sunglasses, and crazy big white jewelry and accessories. There’s a certain “screw you, I don’t care if my lipstick glows in the dark!” brio those particular ladies have that lets them get away with it.

Goes without saying that Rose is not yet one of those ladies. But someday she will be and she will be *awesome* at it. The paparazzi shots of her and Old Lady Chloe Sevigny in Boca will be epic.

            • Domo_Konnichiwa

They’ll put a new spin on the commercial jingle for “The Villagessssss. Florida’s friendliest home town.”

            • Chickadeep

They can invite Old Lady Maggie Gyllenhaal over to play Canasta and drink Mai Tais at The Villages. Maggie will have gone in the other direction style-wise, having dressed like a crazy old lady for most of her youth. She’ll be the one in the age-inappropriate short-shorts and sideboob-baring tank top.

            • Domo_Konnichiwa

Will Maggie use boob tape, or just let those puppies roam free?

            • Chickadeep

              What do YOU think?

            • Ginny Ellsworth

Roam FREE, as free as the wind blows….!

      • anyalama

Yes, it is super cool! Love the color, the tasseled sash. I often wonder how these crazy lipstick colors read in person and if they are as jarring as they are under a flash.

      • anotherkate

I came here to say that exact thing. Good thing you’re on the case (as usual)! :)

    • Nice_Shirt

Love the dress but wish she’d gone with an more interesting shoe. The hair and makeup is terribly aging.

      • anyalama

I recently chopped off my hair and am growing it back and it’s about at this stage now. I am totally baffled as to how to style it without looking like either a toddler or an old hausfrau.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

That lipstick is the bastard stepchild of the shade Cat Deeley wore the other day. That’s not a good thing.

      • Annarosa

        Thinking the same.
And I like the look but I don’t like her face, sorry.

    • annabelle archer

      Yeah…I can’t with this one.

    • TAGinMO

She should have picked a side for the cooch-tassle. Otherwise, a good look.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

She looks really really fantastic here – like she’s ready to be the next secretary that shakes things up on Man Men. Go Rose!!

    • In_Stitches

The colors from her hair to her lips to the dress are working like crazy, but there’s something a bit aging about the style of it all. Realtor hair and a basic shift dress with a draped neckline are a bit incongruous on a lady who once wore a dress made entirely of chains.

      • Coolekat

        Oh God, I’m a realtor.

        • calbear97

If it helps, I think her hair looks really cute.

    • DailyDose

do not like the neckline, it makes her neck look short & bold.

    • Jessica Freeman

She looks much older than she is. I don’t like the tassels. The shade of green looks good on her, but not the neon coral lips. No girl.

    • Diego!

Since her car accident (and post plastic surgery) I can’t recognize this girl anymore… She looks as if she were 50 y.o.!

    • rhaazz

Hmmm. I love the IDEA of a sassy retro sheath dress in an unusual color with minimal makeup and a strong red lip, but the execution here makes her look terrible. The color washes her out; the red shiny lip is distracting; and the dress doesn’t fit her well enough. To be sexy instead of matronly, a dress like that has to fit like a glove. And the eye make-up as a little of that “punched by a baby” vibe.

    • Heather

My cat would have a field day with that tassel.

    • AlisonS

All that work done to her face is eradicated by that hairstyle.

    • filmcricket

The get-up’s pretty awesome, but she looks like a well-preserved 50, not a barely-40. That shade of lipstick is soooo aging, and combining that with the Judy Garland hair? Sigh.

    • schadenfreudelicious

Again with the traffic cone orange lipstick, make it stop!

    • majorbedhead

I’m thinking she needs to ship this dress off to Christina Hendricks.

    • Sara Leigh Merrey

I love this dress, the color and shape, everything. Why do I think it should be on someone much older? I think the hair and make-up aren’t doing her any favors. This dress is mine!

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

That is a great silhouette and color for her. I love the tassel!

    • Cameron Turner

      What’s up with her face????!!!!!??

    • mjude

she reminds me of judy garland. love the look.

      • alyce1213

        That’s it! You nailed it.

    • Janet B

She looks fantastic, although I’m not a fan of the bright orange lipstick (on almost anyone).

    • Coleen

She borrowed Cat Deeley’s lipstick. It’s an epidemic!

    • dickylarue

Would’ve loved to see what she looked like aging naturally w/o plastic surgery. Met her one time many years ago and she was stunning in person. Now she looks like a 50-something lady who lunches.

      • destronomics

she was in a pretty bad car accident that required corrective surgery, though.

        • dickylarue

Thanks destronomics. That explains the plastic surgery then. I could never understand why she would mess with that face. Seriously, one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever laid eyes on when I met her for a potential project.

    • lindsmh

Close your mouth, dear. You’ll catch flies.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

I think she looks fab, except for the tassels. Belt yes, tassels no.

      • Rhonda Shore

Amen sister. Tassels NO. Not even on drapery.

        • Fordzo

          Tassels are for pasties.

      • Molly

I want to pull on the tassel and see if Mr. Carson appears with tea.

    • shelley514

I can’t get past her plastic face!

    • Anathema_Device

I really love the dress. Hate the lipstick.

    • bertkeeter

Interesting to see the tassel detail? I’m doing tassel tie belts (w/crystal fringe) on a few evening Spring 2014′. I’d like this better in this look if the fringe was dyed to match dress. This green looks great on her!

    • kat89

      OMG! It’s Judy Garland!

      • housefulofboys

I was just getting ready to say the same thing! A cross between Judy Garland and that princess in Monaco with the frozen face.

    • ailujailuj

I LOVE this look – from the neck down. a stunning color, a beautiful cut, nicely presented by her poses (agree about the tasseling). but girl gone insane. she went from an incredible beauty (even after her accident) to pumped joker-face. there are so many beauties-turned-mishaps out there now it’s really sad… Joan Allen – she broke my heart with her ‘work’, Mary-Louise Parker, Heather Locklear, Meg Ryan, Kathryn Morris, Catherine Zeta Jones, Olivia Newton John and others… and Miss Nicole Kidman is skidding closer and closer to that disaster – her face has relaxed a bit since a couple years ago – boy…

    • ConnieBV

      Aonther 80s bang sighting! Nooooo

    • Silly Grrl

I like it except for the lipstick and the pussy tassel.

    • yethica

She looks like 60 year old after a bad facelift. Shame… she used to be so pretty.

    • sweetestsith

She looks like the prettiest lampshade in Peir1. And I mean that in the nicest way! She looks very [retty, but the tassels are taking me to a weird place.

    • librarygrrl64

She looks like a 40-year-old Ava Gardner.

    • Nonmercisansfacon

That tassel thing ruins what is a pretty great dress.

    • nycfan

Judy Garland in her 50s …

    • MilaXX

Not a bad look. At least she has the coloring for orange lips. My only quibble is my OCD wishes the tassels were either black or not there at all.

    • marlie

Close your damn mouth! The dress is fine, but the whole look ages her. And I still hate that color lipstick.

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Love the dress, but that lipstick could not be more wrong if it tried.

    • Jonquil

It’s a very ageing look, is it not? The colors, the hair and makeup… She looks like my crazy, Liz Taylor-inspired, glamorpuss grandmother. But not in the ’60s when her look was in. She looks like my grandmother did in the ’90s–after 30 years of hard drinking in a look that’s 30 years out of date.
Rose McGowan isn’t even 40 yet, is she?

    • Sarah Thomas

Just FYI to all the ‘bad facelift’ commenters – Rose McGowan was in a pretty horrific car accident a few years ago that messed up her face.

      • sekushinonyanko

There was, from all reports, minor damage to her face. Most of the work is not re-constructive in nature.

    • iheartbuffy

omg. THROW BACK. to the worst outfit on Charmed ever. Which Rosie wore and was also this color. and equally as bad…

      • Brent Wolgamott

IHBuffy — I’m a Charmed mega-fan — do you know what eppy that was? I can picture it but can’t remember. :-)

    • Jacqueline Wessel

That shade of green is fabulous. I want something in that color. Lip color is a little too intense imo.

    • ewes_urn_aim

      She looks fantastic.

    • demidaemon

That dress is cute, especially on her, but all I can see is lipstick and her sucking her lips. Not cute.

    • quiltrx

      Judy Garland realness!

    • akprincess72

Escape From LA flashback, especially in the awkward leg shot (last one). I like the dress on her, but Girl, that is NOT your color…

    • PeaceBang

And she’s even *posing* like Judy. This is wee-ahd.

    • MaggieMae

The lip color is painful. I’m pretty sure there is a picture around here, somewhere, of my mom in a very similar dress and hair style. Must have been the 60s.

    • lalahartma

      I love it.

    • sekushinonyanko

This is very much so a hot mess. Something odd is going on around the mouth. Filler? Weird lip liner? A combination of both things? The bright and glossy color is not helping, nor is the crazy facial expression. And the hair is incredibly aging and unflattering. At least the dress is a pretty color.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Susan Hayward as I live and breathe.

    • PrunellaV

When did Dixie Carter rise from the dead?!?

    • yepi

      she is very beautiful girl.
