I don’t get this woman. Seems like she wants to be Gaga, but she looks like the bride of the Swiffer.

      • TheAmericaness

Yes! I wonder if she could come over and walk around to help clean my hardwood floors?

      • JasmineAM

She wants to be Rihanna, not so much Gaga.

        • demidaemon

Agreed. I don’t think she’s successful on that front either. This looks like something Rihanna would glance at and say, “Not in a million years.”

      • akprincess72

I am just wondering who she is?

        • Lesley

right?! and she’s all over the place. she reminds me of a rihanna wanna-be.

        • Rhonda Shore

          She’s big in England.

    • aeb1986

Oh my that is an ugly dress. When creating a dress who thinks, “lets make it the color of dirty shower curtains…oh and make it look like that’s what the material is as well”…?

      • anyalama

        Marchesa, over. and. over. again.

    • MilaXX

Love that she did a subtle lip but the eyes and nails are all wrong for this look.

    • Rachael

I like her eye makeup, and that’s about it! Her hair looks like a 1980′s beauty queen and I can’t even with that dress. The back is amazing, but the rest of it looks like something my 6-year-old made in art class

    • Sobaika

I love it. This is right up her alley without being batshit or expected.

      Hair is fried and terrible.

    • Ray Ray

      Kabuki, anyone?

    • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

I really don’t know who she is.
But her foundation is a shade too light at least.

    • hughman

LIVING for the runway model’s expression! Serving FASHOON, serving TULLE, serving NO FUCKS WERE GIVEN. Werq.

      • Andrew Schroeder

“Hell yeah I look like a rejected Miss Havisham wannabe. SO WHAT?!?”

        • demidaemon

I had to go back and look. That model is serving it!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

It’s an interesting, but overworked look.

      • homofascist

        Overworked? Marchesa? NEVER! :)

        • BrooklynBomber

Would like to join my non-profit, the DIE, MARCHESA, DIE! Society*?

Miss Havisham before she got jilted at the alter.

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

Way too much makeup, and bad color foundation

    • formerlyAnon

Overall, I am mildly positive, but that’s it. She’s not doing with this what I think she could. Better condition and more regal or dramatic hair, better make-up, and most of all, a slightly more commanding attitude and I think she could *own* this somewhat over-tulled look. As it is, she can’t make us forget that someone got carried away.

    • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

I don’t get Marchesa’s thought process here. Who thinks, “I have a lovely and sexy dress here, but that’s too minimalist. Let’s vomit a big wad of tulle all over it and see who buys it!” ? Marchesa, I guess.

      • Sobaika

I think those are House Marchesa’s official words.

        • homofascist

          <3 you

      • Gwyndall

It DOES look like there’s a lovely dress under all of that, doesn’t it? Pity.

      • BrooklynBomber

“Let’s vomit a big wad of tulle all over it and see who buys it!””

I’ve always thought that was Marchesa’s thought process.

        • demidaemon

It’s more “Let’s vomit a big wad of (whatever fabric/embellishment is not currently on the dress) all over it and see who buys it!”

    • abish

a little like an ice skater who got tangled in a curtain but decided to stick out the performance anyways.

    • JP

The details on the upper back are gorgeous. The rest of the dress looks like one of those dolls you put over extra TP rolls in the bathroom. Except all the TP is showing.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I feel like this would work if the dress came in an actual color, and the back was solid.

    • Maluca

I don’t even know who this woman is (I’m so behind the times apparently). That said, the color looks dingy.

      • GillianHolroyd

“dingy” is an excellent description of this look.

    • KayEmWhy

I actually like the dress, I just don’t think it looks good on her. The dress is for someone a but taller. The color is all wrong for her especially with that hair color and make up. The hair should be wispy and the makeup lighter.

    • Anniebet

Looks like Rita and the dress should be at different events. I’m perplexed by what is going on at her hair line. The too light foundation looks rather mask-like as well.

    • R.A.

Her makeup gays always use foundation that is two shades too light.

      • mhleta

Yes, that with the nude lip makes her look rather corpse-like.

    • conniemd

As far as I can tell, Rita Ora is a D list singer who believes that any publicity is good publicity, so she attends events and wears outfits that will be commented in, even for their strange clothes. At least people are seeing her name.

I can’t remember the last Marchesa I saw that wasn’t totally overwrought. The back is totally gorgeous. Rip off the rest of the tulle leaving only the silver patterned satin, have the skirt of the satin fuller without the mermaid pinching in and you have a really beautiful white dress.

    • Tracy_Flick

      Tablescape.

      • MoHub

Sandra Lee would love this. She might even wear it.

    • Richard

It looks like a beautiful dress that has has tissue paper stuck all over it. If they peel off some of those layers, it would probably be beautiful. They should have an unveiling ceremony!

    • silaria

The dress is ridiculously overcomplicated. Other than that, I like her makeup because it’s the first time I *haven’t* been vaguely frightened of her on the red carpet. The greyscale look kind of intrigues me.

    • l_c_ann

Miss Havisham, as I live and breathe, you’ve never troweled on the makeup so thickly.

With apologies to Jane who, about two hours ago. had this idea first.

    • PrunellaV

      Colorless in every way.

    • Monabel

There is a silver alien clutching her back.

    • majorbedhead

Remember when Donna had the huge beetle on her back, in the Turn Left episode of Doctor Who? That’s what the back of that reminds me of. The front reminds me of overwrought undercurtains in some fainting parlor circa 1890.

    • SouthernGirlRena

Marchesa makes some truly awful gowns. Why would anyone make that, let alone want to wear it?

    • Imasewsure

I actually don’t hate that overworked Marchesa on her but there’s no way to dress up that hair color/texture, etc. She should have dyed it for the event at least

      • sekushinonyanko

I feel like if you’re just not going to be bothered with touching up roots, the least you could do is have some lowlights so they can blend a little.

    • Reality TV Casting

too fussy for her to pull off. take off the top layer of veil and she might have looked great… with a dye job.

    • demidaemon

I like the back, but the rest of the dress has way too much frou-frou and fabric going on. Ugh, Marchesa. Just ugh. Why can’t you stop when you are ahead?

    • frannyprof

      She looks like she’s decaying.

    • LambeeBaby

      Dirty Beyoncé

      • SurvivorSunshine

Yep. I laugh when I see her everywhere and I’ve only heard her on YouTube (“Who dis woman, Harpo?”) but then I remember she’s Jay Z’s next protégé(slore) in the vein of Rihanna. Make no mistake, she isn’t going anywhere! He will make her a star even if he shoves it down our throats.

What pisses me off is Queen Bey seems to be taking style notes from Miss Ora. Pay attention and you’ll see what I mean. Her latest Pepsi commercial with the horribly fried platinum blonde shoulder-length hair with black roots and ugly smeared black eyes confirmed it for me. Ughhh

All that said, I’m not hating this look. Agree the hair and eye makeup aren’t working but I’m in the minority with liking the Marchesa dress. *shrugs*

    • jangma

White/pale grey/silver are just not her colors. This and that white jumpsuit washed her out, and the cool toned makeup isn’t helping.

    • 3boysful

I love the bodice (sans the solo sleeve) and the back. But that’s it.

    • SewingSiren

I’m going to step out on a creaky rotten limb and say I like it. It suits her and she seems to appreciate and respect the absurdity of the dress.

    • AndreaSkates

This dress looks like something high school drama club girls spent DAYS fashioning for Titania, Queen of the Fairies. They think it’s PERFECT and their friend will look BEAUTIFUL in it, thankyouverymuch.

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

I’ll give her this, she’s WERQ-n that fashion mess of a dress! Kudos Rita! Now go shoot your make-up “artist”.

    • Tuneful54

      Color of old granny panties.

    • marlie

I’m underwhelmed. This dress needs to be on a taller ladystar. Also, I LOATHE her visible roots. I know it’s her “thing,” but I hate it anyway.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

The hair and makeup need work, but I can’t help it, I LOVE that dress!

    • teensmom99

Marchesa: making dresses for mothers of the bride for almost 10 years.

    • shelley514

      Yes Ms. Rita!

    • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

no matter what designer pieces she is in, she looks so dodgy, never feel warm to her.

    • kolokOlchik

i really like it. I think she is just the kind of woman who can pull it off

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

This is a made-for-TV movie where the bride is the secret killer.

    • Carol

Spurned bride still wearing her wedding dress five years after her fiance left her at the alter.

    • lilazander

Too many curtains on this dress :/
