Termites obviously ate the skirt of her dress.

      • Darren Nesbitt

Her body actually looks like an abdomen of an insect smh. I don’t like this bodice at all.

        • greyhoundgirl

          Oh–now I can’t unsee it! A thorax!

    • Sarah Souffriau

      Iew. Iew iew iew.

    • aeb1986

Girl, that is not your dress. Wrong for her skin tone, figure, and that hair is pretty terrible

      • 3boysful

Yup–that silhouette is better on someone less busty. The color is awful on a light-skinned blond. I didn’t even recognize her–I thought she was some aging Broadway star (and was racking my brains to figure out who).

Your peeps did you wrong, gurl.

      • drdarke

Exactly, @aeb1986:disqus – the dress does nothing for her figure, and her styling makes her look matronly.

The Highlight of SMASH deserves much better than this.

      • jmorino08

My thoughts exactly! She is so much prettier than this!

      • Rhonda Shore

Is that anyone’s dress? Can’t wait for the sheer lower third trend to end!!!

    • Houseof1000fabrics

It would have been prettier if the skirt was opaque. But the hair is way too severe. this whole look aged her by 15 years.

    • Danielle West

Her eyes! Her makeup artist clearly hates her. I would say she looks stoned, but that’s just wishful thinking.

      • RedRaven617

        Eyelashes are way too heavy.

    • Mismarker

That is some horrible, horrible hair. I’ve got nothing good to say about any of this. Has she ever looked good at a public appearance? I mean, she’s gorgeous. It shouldn’t be that hard.

    • poggi

Nailed it (if the goal was to look older and rectangular).

    • IMNAngryLiberal

I WANT that clutch .. really, I want all of the Judith Leiber clutches…just can’t make myself spend the money on one.

      • l_c_ann

A lot of Judith Leiber clutches can be copied with a visit to a sparkles store and a plain clutch and a glue gun.

      • Sara__B

I can’t add a thing to this thread. You said it all in four little words.

    • crash1212

GAH! My eyes. I hate that dress with the white hot heat of a thousand suns and her hair is a mistake….(see Anna Kendrick). This is a big miss for me…BUT…that song she did with the others having cancelled TV shows was hilarious.

    • MandyM

The dress is pretty ugly and it makes her torso look thick. Her hair is horrible too. What is the opposite of Werq? Blerq? Jerq? Irq?

      • MoHub

        • MandyM

    • SewingSiren

Was the theme of the party “Bad Hair”?

    • Jeff Warhurst

      Tacky as fuck.

    • Elizabeth Phillips

Is it just me, or does her face look frozen?

    • Juniper

Scroll down fug meets mother of the bride.

    • majorbedhead

God, when will the shear skirt/panel thing die? It hardly ever looks good. And this looks especially bad.

      • kim bunchalastnames

and in that first thumbnail — what is happening around her knees? … there’s foldy napkin stuff going on.

    • marlie

Her hair is awful, and her eye-makeup is making her eyes look tiny and squinty. I hate how the dress – especially around her arms – is the EXACT same color of her skin. I could go on about what’s wrong with this dress but I’ll just leave it at “Honey, NO.”

    • annabelle archer

      Too much no.

    • Diego!

I’m only going to say this: Poor thing.

    • jilly_d

bad hair, clutch doesn’t go, and WHAT ARE THESE SHEER THIGH PANEL DRESSES??? GO AWAY!!!

    • formerlyAnon

Somehow this looked better on t.v. Maybe because the only full body views I caught were long shots. I don’t love any of it, but the sheer on the bottom really makes the top look heavy and almost tank like.

    • lobsterlen

I watched some of the Tony’s last night. From what I saw that it had to be the ugliest collection of red carpet dresses in the history of red carpet dresses. Furthermore all the make-up and hair was horrible too. Finally everyone seemed stoned. I didn’t stick with it to the end so I hope someone pulled off a decent look.

    • Patricia Gillett

Meg, this is not your dress. At the very least, it is not your bodice. And the late (and deliciously quotable) Ann Richards wants her hairdo back.

    • conniemd

Dress would have looked much better with the dress part going down to the knees and then having the sheer. Don’t know the woman, she looks about 10 years older than her boyfriend.

    • IAmJ

How can she possibly think she’s old enough for this hair?

      • barbarienne

NO ONE is old enough for that hair. By the time you get to be old enough for that hair, you don’t have any hair.

    • Chuck Barthelme

If this were a couples edition, the only thing saving them would be him.

    • GorgeousThings

Regardless of the dress, the minute she walked out on stage to do her number, she blew everyone away. I’ll always be grateful to “Smash” for bringing her to a wider audience.

    • alyce1213

How can someone who sings so gloriously — and she did last night — look so awful? Is no one there to help her?

      • Lori

There is something seriously wrong with going to the Tonys looking like you’re suffering from a severe shortage of gays.

    • barbarienne

It looks like you could flip the top of her head forward and there would be a little alien in there telling you “the galaxy is on Orion’s Belt.”

    • tallgirl1204

I am slightly dissenting here– I love the top half of the dress– the fabric is amazing, and she has the body to show off that neckline and shape. But some peculiar work was done in hemming it to her length, leaving a ball of sheer fabric dangling around her knees. And the hair looks like “stage hair,” not “photograph hair.”

    • ConnieBV

It’s a pity BM never finished this dress.

    • amanda lynn

again, quoting the sister wives: Scrolldown Fug.

    • MilaXX

I don’t like this crazy hem embellished, but sheer in the lower half dressing AT ALL, but on the show, at least on tv this looked pretty. In a still like this? Not so much.

    • MaggieMae

Girl, that is NOT your dress. Go rich, elegant, voluptuous. An up-do is fine, just not that up-do. You’re gorgeous! How did you get this so wrong?

    • Warrior89

Doesn’t fit the bosoms. Also, skin colored. Pleasssseeeee can that trend be over? Like, now???

    • bertkeeter

Regarding the sheer..too much of a gimmick… thats all!

    • teensmom99

I think I am dating myself by having a lot of affection for badgley Mischka as a hotdesig Eric that knows how to do red carpet looks.

    • nannypoo

      She looks awful.

    • Anniebet

Wow, this dress really doesn’t work, does it? Kinda like a bandage dress with red carpet dreams and really bad taste.
That first pic looks like her panties fell down around her knees.

I really like this actress and her freckles. Wish she’d had a better showing.

    • Miss WKS

the his -n- her hair ain’t workin at all

    • jkatkins

      So wrong. Just so wrong.

    • librarygrrl64

She’s adorable, but this is awful. Awful.

    • Synnamin

      Whoah. Country Music Awards, anyone?

    • demidaemon

    • JP

Oh man, when I saw her come on stage to sing in that getup last night, I thought it was a costume, not the actual dress she was wearing for the evening. No, just no.

    • PrunellaV

The Pat Nixon hair is not helping.

    • Sara Hottman

The hair. Did she borrow Donald Trump’s hairdresser?

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

I don’t know what to say except it worked SO well on stage that I will forgive the fact that it comes off a little odd on the rc. Let’s face it, there is nary a dress that exisits that looks good on rc AND while performing.

    • plinkiedoodle

      OUch…that hair.

    • Betsy

How come this didn’t get a “frankendress” comment from the T and the Lo? Because it looks like three or four dresses rolled into one. And one of those dresses looks like a cheap nightgown. You know which part! Then the *thorax* part (LOVE that description, BTW) looks like a bad long-line girdle with some spangles added. It kinda squishes up her body like really strong Spanxx. Not a good one. Sorry.

      • Betsy

Oooh!! And I just saw the yellow flowers from Michaels (Arts and Craft Supply) down near the bottom of the “thorax” part. Did Mischka stick them on with a hot-glue gun?? Ick!!

    • quiltrx

Bad color for her, not flattering, and aging–especially with the lifetime achievement award hair.

    • Tafadhali

This isn’t my favorite style of dress, but I saw her out that evening and thought it looked a lot nicer in person. The red carpet lights were SO INTENSE, and without them, the sheerness and the colors weren’t so overwhelming and it looked a bit less overworked. In these pictures, though? Nope.

    • Di

      Haaaate her hair! Ugh.

    • Meg

Not loving most of this, but I love–LOVE– her freckles.

    • Richard

If you are going to do a sheer skirt, do a sheer skirt. Don’t do a weird bedazzled mini dress thing, and put a sheer skirt underneath it. Go big or go home. This whole look is tacky, cheap, and it’s going through an identiy crisis.
