Lily Collins for Glamour Magazine

Posted on June 05, 2013

For your Pretty of the Day, here’s pretty Lily Collins showing more personality than we think we’ve ever seen from her. Granted, we only saw her in one movie, but still. These shots are fun and gorgeous. She’s flawlessly styled and working the camera like an old-school supermodel.

Lily Collins covers the July 2013 issue of Glamour magazine in a Christian Dior dress photographed by Ellen von Unwerth and styled by Anne Christensen.

On considering anyone her mentor: “My mom. It has nothing to do with acting. She guides me through my personal life, telling me to experiment. She lets me borrow her vintage. She has Chanel and eighties stuff from Yohji Yamamoto and Vivienne Westwood that she got when vintage wasn’t cool. She’d wear them to events with my dad, and everyone would ask what she had on; when she said “vintage,” they’d go, “Oh, that’s nice,” and, you know, turn the corner.”

On getting dressed in the morning with the paparazzi in mind: “Even in L.A., where everyone’s in yoga pants, I’ve never been the girl to run around in sweats. I love fashion and always have something put together, but I won’t wear anything specifically to be photographed in. I have become more cautious of making funny faces in public.”

On her BFF Jennifer Lawrence: “She’s a friend; she’s awesome. The choices Jennifer has made have been really interesting. And I loved how she carried herself after her trip [going up onstage] at the Oscars. I was like, ‘You go, girl!'”

“BFF of Jennifer Lawrence” is like, a thing that all the girlcelebs are fighting to be. It’s the hottest trend among the ladystars under thirty.

    • Sobaika

LOVE the shot of her in the Pucci and her eyebrows are perfection.

      • P M

(said in Brown bitch fashion) Really darling? I mean, yes, the brow shape is nice, but the front end of the eyebrows has been left undone, in that Vestern way, no?

      • Julie Chase

I agree, her brows are the best part.

      • Lesley

obsessed. i love a full brow, her and cara delevingne both have amazing brows

    • aeb1986

      Adorable

    • JosephLamour

This is totally not an insult, but she’s giving me Fran Drescher realness in that last picture. She’s so cute!

      • JasmineAM

I grew up watching The Nanny, and I’ve always been fascinated with Fran’s style.

        • majorbedhead

I was getting more of a Kate Bush vibe, although I have no idea why. Girl is seriously gorgeous.

      • P M

That’s right! I was trying to place the expression, and you nailed it!

    • boldprint

      seriously adorable. new girl crush.

    • hughman

Giving total vintage Suzy Parker. TDF.

    • TheAmericaness

I hated the dress on the cover when I saw it on the model, but it’s so wonderful on her! I’m sure it’s setting and lighting, but her brunette hair gives it life! Love it!

    • Denise Alden

Wow. She’s great in these. Nothing like she looks like on the RC.

    • Anniebet

Very fun retro looks. She is rock and rolling in these shots. That last dress is superb.

    • MilaXX

      Very cute. She looks great.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

She needs to channel this into her work – I had no idea how utterly adorable she is. And I need that coat.

    • ToothCake

Now THAT’S how you work a winged eye liner look…Zosia Mamet take note!

      • conniemd

She has really bright red lipstick in all her shots and well defined eyebrows tapering to a sliver at the end. I’m not a make-up person, but I expect that’s the key to her success, as well as the smiling and looking like she is having fun with it.

        • Candigirl1968

Yes, yes, yes. Doing wings with slicked back hair and minimalist makeup looks random. Here it helps to complete a look.

    • Haley Buchanan

I have no idea who she is or what movies/shows/whatever she’s in – but she’s absolutely adorable in these! What a fun little editorial!

      • Rand Ortega

She’s in this terrible vampire movie “Priest” w/ the future Mr. Ortega, Karl Urban. She’s also in “Mirror Mirror”, “The Blind Side” & “Abduction”. She’s playing ‘Elizabeth Bennett’ in the screen adaptation of “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies” which is supposed to come out next summer.

      • fuflans

        and she’s phil collins’ daughter.

        • Prudentia

Yes, but that’s not her fault.

    • alyce1213

Fabulous spread — this gal has great personality and charm.

    • Rand Ortega

Her eyebrows should have their own agent.

    • GillianHolroyd

      I love these looks but:

“She has Chanel and eighties stuff from Yohji Yamamoto and Vivienne Westwood that she got when vintage wasn’t cool”

Honey, vintage was cool when your mom was a child.

    • Latin Buddy

She’s smart to hitch her ride to Jennifer Lawrence’s star. JLaw has achieved something everyone wants, namely, be respected and liked by a broad range of demographics. TLo accurately stated she has that ability to look like a regular girl that lives in your dorm…and a mega superstar. Hope there isn’t a backlash like Hathaway (Anne was viewed this way after Devil Wears Prada…and then Les Miz happened).

      • charlotte

I used to be on the “JLaw is so awesome” bandwagon, but I’ve come to realize that this is just a public image she has successfully attained and maintained. She is a movie star with lots of money after all, and hardly an actual girl next door. Doesn’t mean that I think she is a b*** in real life, don’t get me wrong!

        • Rhonda Shore

But JLaw seems to have good comic timing in RL…did you see her photobomb Sarah Jessica Parker at the Met punk gala? It was hilarious…Marion Cotillard was seen laughing in the background…Lily really is adorable.

          • charlotte

Yes, that was hilarious, especially Marion’s face!

        • Sobaika

I really agree with this. Just because an image is somehow more bearable than the rest doesn’t make it any less an image.

It reminds me a lot of Mila Kunis’ thing (I’m a real girl and I drink beer and eat food! Also I look great in clothes!’) coupled with serious dramatic chops.

          • AnaRoW

We all have images we maintain while out in public. Unless something’s happened to make it seem like it’s all an act it seems unfair to denigrate her simply because she’s famous.

            • Sobaika

              No one is denigrating her?

    • pattycap11

saw her on tv doing press for the blind side and wanted to remember her name, she was so breezy, sweet, unaffected and funny. and i liked the way she was dressed. i’m glad things are going well for her!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

She is an actor, using her skills and talents to present a character with each shot; something the majority of stars in editorials don’t bother with. Brava!

    • JasmineAM

THOSE. BROWS. This girl just looks like a porcelain doll.

    • jmorino08

That shot of her in the revolving door is magnificent!

    • Nonmercisansfacon

Love her eyebrows! She should start a club with the Khaleesi. Unfortunatly, I am not looking forward to the upcoming PR juggernaut for The Mortal Instruments. I was barely catching a break with Twilight!

    • lulukittie

She’s serving Dovima realness. Not something I’d expect from a rock star’s child!

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I have seen her in a few things and the girl has amazing presence on film. And in pictures too. These are the best photos she’s ever taken.

    • PrunellaV

That cover looks vintage. She’s become a world-class beauty.

    • katiessh

is she the one that used to be a redhead and was in that movie dr. imaginarium with heath ledger before he died?

      • gracedarling

I think she’s the daughter of Phil Collins.

      • sekushinonyanko

Nope, that person is a model named Lily Cole. But I’ll admit, the names are quite similar.

        • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

lily cole is my most favorite fashion model ever. something about that porcelain skin and round eyes in a doll-like face. sigh. too bad we don’t see her much anymore.

          • sekushinonyanko

I’m a big fan of her babydoll face as well, and I think she did really well in that film. I think it’s admirable that she went for a role where she’d really have to act and she had a lot of personality. Most models that go into acting select roles that are pretty slim.

    • elemspbee

why is this person on the cover of Glamour? Does she have a movie coming out where she does some insignificant acting? oh wait, J’Law’s bff–that’s prolly why. I like that revolving door pic.

      • Gillian Berry

She actually DOES have a huge movie coming out this summer. So.

    • majorbedhead

Wow. Whodathunk that Phil Collins would produce such a stunner.

    • Imasewsure

These are fabulous, fun and beautiful.Love it!

    • Reality TV Casting

      omg she is SO adorbull

    • Julie Chase

I love her look. She has the most beguiling of faces.

    • filmcricket

Based on the looks shown here, I think we’ve found a candidate for the pre-Burton Liz Taylor bio-pic.

    • its complicated

She’s the apple in a pig’s mouth! She’s ridiculous, and not in a good way.

    • DinahR

She surprised me! these are really cute

    • SewingSiren

She is so beautiful. I don’t think she can take a bad picture.

    • somebody blonde

I love her. I don’t know which movie you guys saw, but she was adorable and hilarious in “Mirror, Mirror.” That was a surprisingly great movie, actually. Very clever.

    • marlie

She looks *great*! I love that she actually shows different expressions and some personality here!

    • decormaven

Love that Pucci! She is working it.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I’m not crazy about the cover shot, but the rest is both chic and adorable at the same time!

    • GTrain

      Cute! Who is she?

      • Tina Power

She was Snow White in that Mirror Mirror movie with Julia Roberts

    • Danielle L

      THE PUCCI. Obsessed.

    • thecitysleeps

Look at those Louboutins I’m still coveting. FU lily. I adore the cover with the shoes.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

      oh wow. well done, girl.

    • kolokOlchik

      I see young Liz Taylor

    • PinkLemon

the posing reads a bit contrived to me

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

She’s beautiful. I don’t like any of the clothes except for the blue dress on the bottom. The blue dress COULD LOOK GOOD with different hair and without those ghastly things she’s holding. Those shoes look awful, at least from that angle. I’ll confess to not being fond of the very high and very pointed shoes of today, no matter who designs them. They’re often a weird fit as well.

    • Eric827

I have nothing against substantial eyebrows, but those don’t do it for me at all.

    • ballerinawithagun

      Very young Liz Taylor.

    • Wowitsemily

I saw this in the magazine stands and at first glance mistook her for Fan Bing Bing. I want that pucci cape though.

    • Stacy Feng

The cover shot is easily the worst, in my opinion. In fact, my boyfriend and I saw the magazine and both said “Worst picture of Lily Collins, EVER.” The Pucci cape photo is the best.
