That is certainly a Disney dress.

      • Annarosa

Thinking the same! I thought Disney’s Snow White dress all mixed up!

    • hughman

It’s like a dust ruffle for your hips.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

It looks like her pool floatie deflated.

      • Jaeda Laurez

Exactly what I thought. Of course the juvenile pigeon-toed stance in that first pic does nothing to counteract that impression either. :-/

      • Rhonda Shore

A simple sheath would have been so much better!!!

    • Gwyndall

It would actually be pretty cute without the peplum! What a shame…

      • 3boysful

        And a straight skirt.

      • fursa_saida

Turn the peplum into a skinny belt the same color and you’re all set, IMO. WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THIS to such a lovely fabric?

        • rhaazz

Kristen Ritter has to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet. I loved her in Breaking Bad and in Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23. That yellow ruffle is a CRIME.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

What lithe lady doesn’t want to look hippy? Perfectly cute dress once you remove the senseless frippery.

    • Krafty_L

Love the print! Hate the peplum and/or the a-line skirt. You can have one, but not the other!

      • random_poster

I totally agree. A peplum deployed over a pencil skirt can work, but not the a-line. I find the yellow of the peplum even more distracting. A thin yellow belt and no peplum would have made the difference.

    • Nancer

I was all set to like this, then I scrolled down and saw that ugly yellow ruffle. It skews the proportions of the dress, making her look ungainly – which she isn’t! The print is charming, and everything else works. This dress had the potential to be really cute, but then it took a bad turn. Editing, Thakoon, editing! It’s your friend.

    • alyce1213

Without the peplum, it’s a cute dress. Hair looks sloppy.

    • ali meowmeow

Ugh, hate peplums. Hate them. They’ve never been flattering and I don’t know why they’re back.

I love the pop of yellow and dig the dress otherwise, so I think this’ll just warrant some judgmental looks and eyerolls behind her back. It’s not quite bad enough to make me want to hack the damn thing off. THIS TIME.

    • Danielle L

If she had left of the peplum, I would be running out to buy it.

    • Rand Ortega

(Not that anyone asked or cares) I declare The Peplum officially over.

      • barbarienne

And I declared illusion netting cut-outs over, but they’re not listening to me either. :-(

Someone is going to make a dress consisting of a peplum, two pasties, and a lot of illusion netting, before this is all over.

        • demidaemon

Hopefully, it will only appear on some unfortunate model.

          • Jaeda Laurez

            No, just Ginnifer Goodwin.

        • Rand Ortega

That crackling sound is my eyes bursting into flames.

    • TigerLaverada

The rash of ugly peplums needs to stop, designers. Please.

    • MilaXX

Not liking the peplum on this. If the skirt was more of a pencil skirt shape it might work but as it is it adds too much volume to the look.

      • leahpapa

I had the same thought. I don’t share the peplum-hate that some of the other commenters do – on the right dress and silhouette it can be benign or even pretty – but I really, really do not understand a peplum with a full skirt. And the color makes it look like it was part of a juniors line guest-designed by Crayola.

    • melanie0866

She looks cute. It’s a little baggy. But I’m always excited she’s alive, since her character died on “Breaking Bad.”

      • Brad Watson

Hmmm… So I guess I know what’s coming in the last disk of that season.

    • Tatiana Luján

This would be gorgeous if it weren’t for that ridiculous peplum.

    • nannypoo

What a great little dress and what a silly little peplum.

    • Jessica Freeman

That peplum ruined it. It looks like her deflated pool ring float.

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

totally. all it needs is a picture of the little mermaid on the front.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I thought she had a french fry stuck to her finger, until I saw it was a really odd ring. Take away the peplum and tailor the dress so it’s not so poufy on the bottom half, and you might have a winner.

    • Emily Smith

I’m sorry but the name Thakoon just sounds like someone with food in their mouth saying “thank you” or something. I just imagine food spittle everytime I read it.

    • filmcricket

Peplum served sunny side up. What a stupid, stupid thing to add to that cute little frock. Gah, it makes me so mad!

    • Lori

I can not with the ruffle, which is too bad because other that that and the weird ring (which looks like an accident waiting to happen) this is cute.

    • Kelly Sowers

Get rid of that stupid peplum thing and put that same yellow in the shoes. Done.

    • DamH

      She looks so cute

    • Richard

This is so close to being perfect, that it’s annoying me. Take the dust ruffle off, and take in the waist a little, and BAM. I’m totally in love with that print btw.

    • crash1212

I would totally love this dress and this look…if not for the yellow dust ruffle around her middle. A sentence I never thought I would type.

    • j_anson

so over peplums. can’t even muster energy for capital letters.

      • majorbedhead

I took care of that for you.

        • j_anson

Hahahah, I was like, …what? And then I saw your post above.

    • barbarienne

Such a pretty dress until the designer fucked it up with that peplum.

“I know–instead of merely making her look like she as giant hips, let’s make the peplum a bright, high-contrast yellow and completely cut her in half! It’ll be like sun shining out of her midriff!”

    • NMMagpie

Drat. Just can’t unsee that yellow peplum and questionable ring.

    • julnyes

Love the print on this dress and her make-up and hair are working for me. I am a bit put off by the volume on the dress and the peplum, but she still looks good.

    • majorbedhead

      DIE, PEPLUMS!! DIE!

    • demidaemon

If only it didn’t have a peplum. Right now, the dress has a ring of yellow vomit on it.

      • http://surelysonsy.blogspot.com/ Jessica | Surely Sonsy

my thoughts exactly, and i tend to like peplums…

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

too bad about that yellow thing hanging off her…

    • marlie

At this point, the designers are just getting lazy with the peplums. They just slap them on any old dress/shirt/whatever, with absolutely ZERO consideration for how it actually looks ON a person’s body

That is to say, I hate this dress.

    • jw_ny

switch out the peplum for a yellow belt and this’d been a really cute look…too bad.

    • amanda lynn

i miss her on my TV. glad her episodes of Gilmore Girls are in rerun right now.

    • JP

Liked the thumbnail view; hate the full view. Why a solid canary-yellow peplum with that creative print?

    • ailujailuj

      No.
But I would pay for her to move next door to me.

    • sjdestroyer

Somewhere Zooey Deschanel is screaming “bitch stole my look” at a computer screen.

    • cowper

That dress makes you look wackadoodle, honey.

    • quiltrx

This is almost cute. The peplum seems VERY misplaced, both on Krysten and the model. Bad design.

    • JauntyJohn

They can do the color pop, they can switch up the fabric, they can slap ‘em on mini’s or maxi’s or mids… but those stupid waist level peplums look like shit on everybody.

    • AnneElliot

She should be wearing Sandra Bullock’s dress. And this should be burned.

Though I love her heels — I’m so sick of platforms, I weep with joy at the sight of a classy ladylike pump.

    • LaSylphide

WHAT is that yellow…thing? Anyone? Anyone???

    • boweryboy

A really cute summer dress is otherwise ruined with a hideous peplum.

If Thakoon really needed the pop of color a simple 1″ -2″ wide yellow waistband insert would have given the illusion of a belt and the hint of color he was going for.

      Peplums ruin everything.

    • akprincess72

She’s on my irrational hate list already, this isn’t helping…

    • Sarah Souffriau

If the peplum hadn’t been there, I would have liked it!

    • Aurumgirl

      Gorgeous girl, pitiful dress.

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

      Damn, her face is pretty.

    • mickiemonkey

Is that a ring or a weapon? Could no one help her with her hair? The model’s sad face speaks for all of us about the yellow deflated pool floatie.

    • Silly Grrl

If it weren’t for the peplum, I would LOVE this.

    • librarygrrl64

Hate the peplum, love everything else.

    • andreawey

the print is just gorgeous but what is with these weird waist ruffle things….. they just ruin everything……

    • HRK

She is as thin and lanky as the runway model. Check out the sharp corners on those shoulders!

I love her and think the dress suits her.
