January Jones in Pasadena

Posted on June 11, 2013

How could we possibly make jokes about JJ’s epic bitchface, like we normally do every time we feature her?

‘Mad Men’ star January Jones out for lunch with her son Xander in Pasadena.

Answer: we can’t. Because that’s some epic momface.

Fashion-wise, we are very, very, VERY not behind those jeans, but we love that top on her. We’ve never seen her with such unfussy hair. It looks cute on her.

    So, SO cute!

    • 3boysful

I’d have looked much cuter back in the day, too, if I’d had a PA to schlep the diaper bag.

      • KiwiFanGirl

Bazinga! I did not notice that until you called it.

  • Kristalbailey

Love her hair so relaxed like this. Definitely helps soften her look

  • thecitysleeps

Bawwwwww he looks so much like her. Adorable. I kinda like the jeans, they look comfortable and still give her a shape. I just severely dislike what you can see of the shoes underneath.

  • Glam Dixie

I hate those jeans but there’s no denying she looks great here. Xander is adorable.

    • cowper

“Xander” must be one of those “unique” names that the NYT says that are all the rage among hipsters. I don’t think Xander passes the Supreme Court Justice test (although Alexander does).

      • Glam Dixie

Unless they are a family name, those types of names will always sound pretentious and silly to me.

      • Maybe she’s a fan of Buffy…

      • starrika

It’s a popular Dutch/Belgian name that’s been around a while as a common variant of Alexander, much like Aleksandr, Sasha, or Olek.

I rather think it will hold up just fine, particularly when contrasted against the kre8tive names that are popular in the US today.

    • Nikki

Agreed, those are some unflattering jeans!

  • teensmom99

I actually like the jeans. Would work for very few people-but she’s one of the ones who can pull it off.

    • I love the jeans too. As some with a disprotionately small waist compared to my hips and thighs, volume on the bottom half helps to lengthen and slim my upper leg. That and the fact that I am partial to distressed, weathered, casual and boho casual looks, this is all working for me.

  • applepie

put a hat on that kid!

    • rumcg66

Really? You needed to go there?

      • applepie

i meant as in, he’s going to get a sunburn.

        • Calinda_L

From the parking lot to the restaurant? Not likely. Seeing as she’s kept him alive (and seemingly unburnt) this long, I think we can assume she knows how to parent her own kid.

          • rumcg66

EXACTLY. Thanks for saving me from having to explain.

          • applepie

            knee-jerk response – i am a woman obsessed. i’m sure she’s a fine mother.

        • alyce1213

If she’s on point, he’s already got baby sunscreen, at least SPF50.

  • Julie Chase

I’ll take the bag and the baby please.

  • majorbedhead

I don’t mind the jeans, but I don’t like them with those shoes. However, she’s toting her kid around on her hip, so I’d hardly expect her to be in heels. She looks great and the kid is a-freaking-dorable.

  • I wonder if she and Gwen are wearing distressed jeans, made to look purchased at a thrift store, that cost more than my car payment? And why, since likely so, I am irritated by it? Regardless, it’s nice see her look a little human for once.

    • j_anson

I don’t understand the current distressed jeans look. When they came through before (I was in high school, I think? maybe junior high?) they had a certain logic to them (the distressing was around natural fold and pressure points). Today’s version just seems to have randomly placed holes, like the jeans are developing mange or something.

      • I vividly remember being an 80s kid, going to see my dad for a summer break, him taking me shopping and him flipping out at torn jeans I’d bought. He also didn’t understand my need for multiple pairs of neon socks that didn’t match.

        • j_anson

Ah, *neon*. Such a cruel trend for an awkward redhead. 🙂

          • Coolekat

            What a great word picture

          • j_anson

Usually the only thing neon about me was my skin after a day at the pool!

          • ItsDicey

As a fellow redhead, I so feel your pain.

      • chowwander

        Upvoted for “mange.”

  • rumcg66

    Someone’s teething.

    • Gwyndall

Someone’s flipping the bird to the papz!

    • TheDivineMissAnn

HaHa! That’s what I thought too. And from the looks of it, it’s his back molars.

  • Leah Elzinga

holy smokes! When you slap a pair of shades on her (taking eye colour out of the equation) her and Carey Mulligan could be sisters!

  • Judy_J

Love the blouse and bag. Baby is cute, too, but I’ve been there/done that, and I’ve got grandkids, so the clothes and accessories interest me more.

  • MilaXX

I kinda dig her jeans. They have a slightly boho vibe to them. Baby Xander is adorable.

  • flamingoNW

    LOVE that top

  • Sheneve Butler

She looks so cute here, and her son looks just like his father.

    • AnaRoW

      Who’s his father?

    • alyce1213

      You know who it is???

  • decormaven

Don’t think she’s too happy to be photo’d with the baby- that’s a death grip on the valise. Thumbs-up on the hair and the overall relaxed look. He’s a cute child; it’s got to be tough to keep children from the media’s gaze.

    • Vickiefantastico

Yeah, as a mom, these pictures make me extremely angry. He didn’t ask to be famous. And I know, I know, she has probably purposely been photographed by the paparazzi before, but you can tell she’s not happy about it here.

    • charlotte

I agree that she probably hates being photographed with the baby (I would, too), but at least she seems to spend a lot of time with her little one. Some celebs are very rarely seen with their kids because truckloads of nannies are taking care of them.

  • crash1212

Cute outfit. Cute kid. Epic mom face.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

    mom jeans! u_u

  • Guest

JJ always has the best poker face, but that’s probably because she was a former model. Still, fierce as hell. Also love the fact that they both dressed casually and look comfortable, instead of the “baby as accessory” fashionista move. Frankly, I just can’t with the parents who would put their kids in comfortable designer clothes just to coordinate with their own.

    • sleepycat

Personally I can’t stand the idea of designer kids clothes. True it might just be another luxury excess, but no. Even if I become wealthy that I can afford to replace designer kids clothes (not that I would ever make that much as a public health official/researcher) my kids are getting clothes from a mid-level department store. Maybe when they have their own money they can. Although I doubt their allowance and job would make them enough.

      • Nappysue

My 10 month old grandson is is one of the best dressed babies around because his mom buys adorable, very gently used outfits from consignment stores. The prices are ridiculously cheap.

  • OrigamiRose

My mom’s “momface” was more like the ones made by Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest.

    January looks pretty cool 🙂

    • Wendi126

Mine was a lot like all the people in the church at the end of the Graduate when Benjamin shows up at Elaine’s wedding

    • Cordelia_Gray

My mom’s “momface” includes a raised eyebrow like The Rock’s. She would have January shaking in her boots, errrr, sandals.

      Baby Xander is a cutie!

  • Contralto

She looks good! I love that top.

  • marlie

I love everything she’s wearing except the jeans. They should be burned.

  • She looks adorably 70s. I dig it. Groovy.

  • bellafigura1

I love every shred, plus the kid plus the mother plus the JEANS ARE FIERCE.

  • anotherkate

Those jeans make me angry (and fearful that they’ll come back and I’ll be surrounded by stumpifying, bottom-dragging bellbottoms as I once was in the late 90s/early aughts). But SHE looks cute.

    • You and me both.

    • Heather

Stumpifying, bottom-dragging, and WAY too low-rise (plumber crack/muffin top).

      • anotherkate

Oh yeah. Gotta have the muffin crack!

  • jmorino08

I wish my Mom hair looked that effortlessly chic.

  • Jennifer Ford

I love this outfit. I love the jeans. I love her hair. I’m not sorry that I never stopped loving 70s hippie jeans. Imprinting is just hard to overcome and I do not want to overcome it!

  • Lauren Schneider

i love this look unapologetically. i remember when i was in like, the 7th grade and “flare” jeans were in style…this was always how i imagined myself looking in them (note: i did not look nearly this good in them).

  • Megan Kennedy

This looks like a 70s Halloween costume to me.

  • Susan Velazquez

Good Lord, she is so fab.

  • par3182

Just say no to paparazzi shots of people’s children.

(Surely this one’s not stage managed?)

  • MandyM

I love her jeans! And her hair! Super cute mom look!

  • judybrowni

I’m only against trippy hem of those jeans — I’m seriously worried mom will trip and drop baby!

And what’s with the trend of tucking a blouse in the front of pants, but not the back?

Other than that: cute, cute, cute.

  • ankali

I love it when babies try to eat their own fingers.

  • golden_years

Love that bag. She looks so different with that hair. Her son is so cute!

  • AutumnInNY

JJ is one of those very blessed girls who manages to look beautiful-effortlessly almost all of the time. Hair is very cute on her and tho I don’t love those jeans she can pull ’em off. And yes, the top is great.

  • MaggieMae

Love the jeans + belt + blouse. Cute!

  • shelley514

Super cute look!!! Love the handbag with it too. Looking the bomb without even trying. Go JJ!!

  • jackiecoh

    love everything, especially the bag.

  • ZnSD

lol whatever. those jeans? You obviously don’t live in SoCal. They’re totes fine, babes. Promise. XO

    • They’re about a decade out of style, babe. Promise. XO

      • ZnSD

lol Touche’, epic bitchface, *snaps* (but I will say, they’re suddenly everywhere again here, so maybe making a nauseating comeback?)

  • Jenny O

    That is Sudeikis’ kid.
