Jamie Foxx at the “White House Down” Premiere

Posted on June 26, 2013

It’s funny. We’re so used to seeing hungry boystars squeezed into tiny little suits that it took us a minute here to realize what was wrong with Jamie’s look here:

Jamie Foxx attends the premiere of ‘White House Down’ in New York City.

Nothing. Not really. At first we thought he needed to get this tailored, but it’s just a normally cut men’s suit. The pants hem is a little longer than we like but it certainly falls within the realm of acceptable.

Having said that, we don’t love the shape of the jacket on him (flares out too much at the hip), nor do we think the shirt and tie quite go together. But for a moment there, we actually had trouble recognizing that this is pretty much how most men wear their suits; so entrenched are we in the world of celebrity fashion-gazing, where suits tend to either be tiny or gigantic.

It’s wrinkly. But he looks good.

    • Rhonda Shore

and he looked better after he took his hand out of the pocket…

  • i don’t think that grey is good on him. he looks a little washed out. love that turquoise shirt and tie, though.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

He looks good. The color of that blue shirt looks good on him. Would love to see a sister rocking a dress in that shade of blue.

    • Qitkat

He does look good in that color, but my feeling is that an overall dress in the same shade tends to read slightly juvenile, or casual, or prom or bridesmaid. And I love that color too, but it’s hard to pull off successfully. Depends a lot on the fabric and style.

That crooked tie is driving me crazy. I just want to go up to him and start zushing his outfit

  • Eric Stott

He looks very good and very comfortable.

  • 3boysful

I love the aqua shirt, but this is the first time I’ve noticed a clipped collar like that? Hmmm, not sure about it yet. It’s like men’s suit-wear is pretty limiting, shape-wise, and we’ve done all the lapel versions, so let’s mess with shirt collars.

    • majorbedhead

THAT’S what’s throwing me off – the collar. Well, and the fact that the tie is a bit wonky.

    • ampg

Yes, I think it’s very odd – it somehow makes his neck look wider. I don’t like it at all.

    • It’s a widespread collar. Armie Hammer likes them, too. Not seen in a long time. I never liked them.

  • Annarosa

I must confess, I scrutinized this for a while, then I decided he’s such a handsome man, so he can wear whatever.

    Is he wearing a suit?

  • Moriginal

I actually like the color of his shirt and tie together; it’s the cut of the collar, and the fabric of both the tie and shirt that turn my stomach a little sour.

  • MilaXX

I like this and I especially like the pop of color between the tie and shirt. Lord knows it better than have little James Wilkie show you up on the RC.

  • AHEM. The only thing truly wrong with this suit, is that Channing is not standing beside him in a complimentary one.

  • unbornfawn

Not a fan of the collar on that shirt. He looks good. It is refreshing to see a suit that doesn’t look like a sausage casing.

  • Agatha Guilluame

The first pose. It’s corny yet I can’t help but smile.

    • SpillinTea

Justin Bieber/Jaden Smith realness. Gotta get that youth demographic 😉

  • Shawn EH

He looks good. There’s something to be said for simple comfort.

  • I really don’t like the shirt he’s wearing – at first I thought the suit was a skotch big but it’s just that odd collar that throws off the proportion.

  • Qitkat

This may sound like a silly question, but when men wear their hairline this stylized way, do they also have to shave to keep it tidy? or does head hair grow slower than beard hair so it’s not as much an issue? I like the hairline, never noticed it til the guy on Scandal. Someone will probably tell me now, it’s been in fashion for years, and I never noticed it, lol.

    • julnyes

He wouldn’t maintain this himself like a beard; he would go to a barber for a “Shape Up”

      • Qitkat

Thanks, I didn’t realize what the haircut actually was called.

  • sunnycalif

I think he looks Great! Nice job, Jamie!

  • nannypoo

    So hot.

  • alyce1213

I’d like a different shirt and tie, but I love a classic suit like that. His good looks are only surpassed by his great talent.

  • largishbearishAtlish

Love the color of the shirt, looks like a perfect temperature pool to soak in with a beverage of some sort.

  • maggiemaybe

I sure do hate the collar on that shirt.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

he looks like my dad in a suit.

    • calbear97

Damn, your dad is good looking!

  • conniemd

I don’t care, I’m seeing an actual colored shirt.

  • formerlyAnon

Agree about the cut at the hip. But he’s still fine.

  • SpillinTea

I love how Brothas are the kings of the red carpet “point” pose. The suit is killer and I love the colors.

  • JeWawa

    He sucks.

  • Tara Gray Burkholder

Grown men are doing that scrunched forehead thing now? Oy.

  • demidaemon

He looks a little under the weather to me. These pics seem to lack any sort of energy, no?

    • dschubba

I’m worried that he might have an undiagnosed sleepwalking problem.

  • Cathy S

    I love the shirt color.

  • sabbadoo32

You hit it right on the head. He looks like a lot of non-Hollywood, non-$3000 suit-wearing guys (even if that suit is worth $3000). He (like them) is doing the best he knows how, and for some reason there’s apparently no publicist or stylist to cram him into a runway suit. Good for him. There is a lot (and I mean a LOT) worse out there.
