Hayden Panettiere in Black Halo

Posted on June 05, 2013

This is actually quite cute. If we give the impression we’re surprised it’s because we are. Miss Hayden is something like a slightly earlier model of Julianne Hough; a kind of brassy blonde who always came off a little honky-tonk on the red carpet; never quite getting it right and dressing to look decades older than her age.

Hayden Panettiere attends the 2013 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London in a Black Halo dress paired with a Helmut Lang jacket, B Brian Atwood booties, a Jimmy Choo clutch, and Kara Ackerman jewelry.

B Brian Atwood ‘Figara’ Bootie

And sure, this isn’t perfect. Those booties are kinda wrong for the look, but aside from that, she’s styled well, and the whole thing is sharp and cute. Love the jacket. The silhouette really flatters her, and she’s had some trouble with that in the past because she’s so tiny. If the worst we can say about a Hayden Panettiere outfit is that the shoes were a bad choice, that’s a major improvement on the style front. ABC must’ve hired someone to take care of her.

See Julianne? There’s hope for you, dear! Find out who’s doing Hayden and then lure them away in a backstabbing scheme worthy of a nighttime soap opera!

The thumbnail looked promising, but the whole picture made me sad.

  • JosephLamour

I wish she wasn’t wearing the jacket. The dress seems like it would be really cute. And those shoes make me sad sad sad.

  • Julie Chase

The dress looks adorable, BUT I CAN’T TELL. And I hate the booties. This could have used some fun earrings.

  • marlie

I hate the shoes, and I think the jacket doesn’t work with the shape of the dress, but overall, she looks cute, and she looks her age!

  • aeb1986

Those shoes are wrong for this outfit but they are AWESOME

  • Sunraya

Boots with no stockings? It just seems absurd! Or I am very old!

  • mmebam

I’m not a big fan of most booties to begin with, but these make me especially sad.

  • Rand Ortega

Maybe I’m influenced by Christian’s collection, but if the jacket had been shorter to accentuate her tiny waist, or leather or a color like blue or yellow, I would’ve given this a WERQ.

    • conniemd

A yellow jacket would have been awesome, or perhaps a light turquoise.

      • Rand Ortega

        Ooooh, light turquoise FTW!

  • hughman

I could totally get behind a flask that size.

  • I love that whole look, especially her hair which is usually set on ‘Miss America’ vibe. Very cute jacket and dress.

  • Charles

Think I’d prefer the jacket to be smaller, and agree on the booties but best I’ve seen her look in quite a while (if not the best overall).

  • I agree, everything except the shoes looks really good.

  • Anniebet

    Tres cute.

  • Glam Dixie

Booties, go away forever. I hate you. The rest is cute.

  • Spicytomato1

She’s so pretty. Which is not something I’d really noticed before, but the last couple times she’s been featured that has been my first thought.

I feel like whatever she’s doing, stylewise, is showcasing her true beauty better than ever before.

  • charlotte

She looks like her Nashville character trying to be a good girl after some nasty incident. Cute outfit, but the shoes should be burned in a ring of fire.

    • MilaXX

No matter how bad she looks, nothing is as awful as the way the actress who plays Charlotte looks. Now that’s someone in need of a fashion intervention.

      • charlotte

That one does look dowdy. Her name is Scarlett, though.
I would intervene if someone with my name dressed like that.

        • MilaXX

*facepalm* Of course it is. I watch regularly and know that. /brainfart

  • MilaXX

Less is more. I’d lose the jacket and the shoes.

  • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

I love those shoes but not for the Red Carpet.

    • l_c_ann

Those shoes….not in June with temperatures in the 90s.

      • Gloriana Reginata

You wish – try 22 degrees less than that. (If London was generally in the 90s in June, I would even consider moving back there.)

  • TheAmericaness

I want to see what the look without the jacket first.

  • carpediva

The booties cut me real deep, but otherwise I think it’s the best BY FAR that she’s ever looked. Hair and especially makeup are lovely, though I do wish she’d saved the jacket for another time; that dress looks like it would be BAM! on its own. Adore the neckline.

    • l_c_ann

We’ll see that jacket again and probably not recognize it. It is a staple she can build on.

  • Still looks like something out of a Talbot’s petite catalog. Fashion for the shorter ladies is depressing as hell.

    • shirab

Sing it, sister. Would you prefer to look like a kindergartner, or like Estelle Getty on Golden Girls? There is no in-between.

  • pattycap11

nothing spectacular, but nice. i used to make the same mistakes she seems to make sometimes, wearing things i liked without caring that they belonged on someone a lot taller. this is more like it.

  • Crystal

She looks fresh and pretty, but she needs to ditch the jacket and wear different shoes. But fresh is not a word I’ve used to describe Hayden…. ever. So attagirl!

  • bertkeeter

Looks like Armani from around 1990….

  • Hmmm…I dunno…I think her crazy is showing a lil bit.

  • Faerie Nuff

Booties with bare legs like that will never not look like hooves to me.

    • Lizzy

      YES!! THIS!!!!

  • demidaemon

Agreed on the shoes. I don’t know if there is any hope for Miss Hough. I tend to think that, even if she could find an awesome stylist, she would sabotage the look to add ten+ years to her age.

  • frannyprof

ditch the shoes and the jacket. Then we’ll talk cute.

  • shorty j

She looks super cute but her posture and the way she tilts her head for extra twee just makes me think of a confused puppy. It’s the exact same face my dog makes when my partner puts on that Instant Chewbacca website and the dog can’t figure out where the hell that sound is coming from.

  • Lesley

i’m so over the bootie with a dress it makes the legs looks so short, and take that jacket off!

  • Cathy S

I don’t like the booties, but I’m down with the rest of it.

  • decormaven

Those of the petite persuasion should always look for shoes that elongate the leg. Booties just stumpify a look. Too bad- this had such promise.

  • Danielle L

I wish that jacket was left in the car. I want to see the dress!

  • Chuck Barthelme

Dress is too light and summery for those booties. But otherwise, not bad, especially for her.

  • Erica_Vuitton

To cop the term from your female counterparts: Scroll down fug all the way. Wow those shoes just ruin the look.
