Hathaway and Schulman in NYC

Posted on June 21, 2013

We want to be really bitchy here, because this smacks of so much fakey-fakey to us, but our hearts are full of love this sunny day. And besides, the Anneiacs will swarm on us like angry bees if we say something mean about her again. And they scare us, kittens.

Anne Hathaway out and about with her husband Adam Schulman in New York City.

But her jeans (which we’ve seen on her before) are cute. And they do make a charming couple from far away, we have to admit. Very Barefoot in the Park, in a 21stC pixie-and-hipster kinda way.

I dunno, I think if there were REALLY planned, she’d be wearing a bit more makeup. That’s a lotta redness on her chin/cheek there…

      • carpediva

My thoughts exactly. I’m super cynical too, but they can’t always be faking it, right? They do actually have the need to occasionally walk down the street together I’m thinking.

    • 3boysful

I get a refreshingly normal vibe.

      • http://myriameron.blogspot.com/ Heron

Her jeans are wrinkled!! They were in a drawer and then she took them out of a drawer and put them on. Sarcasm aside, that is literally the realest thing I have ever seen a celebrity wear.

    • decormaven

This looks pretty natural and relaxed to me. Contrast it with that recent photo of Reece W. and hubby with the matching yellow/black accents. That was textbook staged “Happy Couple” to me.

    • thecitysleeps

They look cute, and I hate them.

      • largishbearishAtlish

I kind of agree, I want my OWN smiling happy bearded man on MY arm (granted maybe feed him a cracker or some soup) but…they look happy and dare we say it, many silly normal folks…happy together.

    • Jessica O’Connell

I’m just so happy she’s not blonde anymore, because that was not working for her.

    • TAGinMO

Maybe they’re playing up the smiles for the cameras a bit, or maybe the cameras just caught them in the right moment. But I agree with the commenter who says this isn’t “staged,” per se, because she’s clearly not wearing picture-ready makeup.

Also, while he’s not really my type at all, I gotta say: he’s freaking adorable.

    • TheAmericaness

Oh, this looks pretty normal to me. Granted, they’ve done a lot with robotics lately, but there comes a point where you can always claim it’s staged because a camera took a picture of them and since cameras will always follow them if they can, it’s really a catch 22. Sure they asked for it by becoming celebrities and playing it up and being in sufferable, and I know there are other celebrities that are down to earth and would never hurt our feelings or a fly, but … meh. At some point ya gotta admit we’re all part of the Annebots and their stories out there because we follow them and generate the energy that is news and gossip about them in the first place.

      • formerlyAnon

Yup. I’m not sitting here reading the New York Times Book Review section.

    • Jennifer Ford

I like to imagine that celebs photographed laughing like this are saying incredibly mean things about the paps and cracking themselves up about it.

      …it’s what I’d do, anyway.

      • majorbedhead

Ha! That’s what I was thinking, too.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

Anniacs vs. Taytor Tots… whose fans are more loyal? hehe I just wanted to use the term “Taytor Tots”.

But fo realz, these two look really cute. Damn them.

      • marlie

I think the Taytor Tots are a little more… rabid.

      • Jessica Freeman

Don’t forget the KStew fan base as well!

        • DilettanteDeconstructed

          The K-Crew?

    • dorothea_brooke

Holding his hand AND clutching his arm? Give it a rest hon.

      • marlie

Actually, my bf and I were walking down the street JUST like that the other day. Maybe Annie’s feeling a little extra affectionate today.

    • eight_of_nine

I like Anne quite a bit, but picture number 4 kind of makes me want to gag.

    • MilaXX

It’s cute and since this is a repeat wearing of those pants & she lacks an oversized designer bag I’m going to give her a pass and say it’s genuine.

    • SayWTH

The shoes. The shoes are making MY plantar fasciitis act up. No support whatsoever. Other than that, this looks like a Sunday stroll to Ben and Jerry’s.

    • Erica_Vuitton

Flipping back and forth between this outfit and the previous red pants outfit I’ve decided something. I REALLY liked the icy blonde hair and I wish she’d bring it back. Also, I never believe “out and about” photos sans purse are anything but staged pap shots.

      • marlie

See, I think it’s the WITH-purse photos that are staged (where you can always, ALWAYS see the designer label). If this were me, just running out to get a bite or something, I’d totally leave my purse behind, especially if I knew that the bf was going to be paying. I’ve actually said “Do I need to bring my purse?”

        • Little_Olive

I LOVE to find out that I somehow don’t need a purse. The sensation of freedom… how sad.

In other news, is he thinner than she is?

          • formerlyAnon

“In other news, is he thinner than she is?”

Damn close thing. Based on my own experience I’d guess he outweighs her by 15-20+ pounds, depending on how much muscle he carries, which works out to “thinner” if he’s a bit taller.

    • elirt

Her hair almost looks as cute as Winona Ryder’s in “Reality Bites”. Gawd – I wanted that haircut so bad and it just did not look anything like it when I had a pixie cut. :P

    • Austen Jane

Those glasses are swallowing her face. Make it stop. I can dig bigger glasses coming back in, but not something from a 1980’s Sunglass Hut.

    • Just Me

Awww, Barefoot in the Park!!! She wishes…sheesh. (I wish too…when I was in my twenties and newly married that my husband and I could have lived BiTP for a year or two before high-tailing out of the City to Connecticut to raise our adorable children on our mini-farm). Don’t mind me…I have a whole other life going on in my head.

    • crash1212

Not sure what could be construed as fakey-fakey in this. Two people walking down the street with cameras shoved in their faces acting natural….they look cute.

      • iCouture

Seriously….. and if they looked stoic-faced, people would call them bitchy. Lose, lose.

    • marlie

This may be contrived, but they’re doing it so much better than some other couples (Emma Stone/Andrew Garfield). And I think they look adorable.

ETA: Also, SO glad she went back to dark hair.

    • moppet

How did her hair get brown again so fast?

      • Calinda_L

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess it was hair dye. Damn these celebrities and their magical access to salons.

        • demidaemon

          Heh.

    • OrigamiRose

      They are rather adorable together.

    • plinkiedoodle

      Yawning….

    • nannypoo

I wonder what is so funny. Maybe they’re laughing at her shoes, which make her feet look flat and wide.

    • Shawn EH

      She needs better shoes.

    • gubblebumm

she isn’t carrying a purse, cell phone, and nothing in her pockets…what woman walks around like that?

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

They are endearing, but I am very cynical and give PDAs like that the side-eye.

    • GorgeousThings

      “Anneiacs”
You mean the Anne-amaniacs? They askeer me, too!

    • CeeQ

If you’re not going to be bitchy then I’m going to.

“OH WHEE! Our life is so amazing and so perfect! Like our hair and jeans! Darling – wouldn’t the world be SO MUCH BETTER if everyone were LIKE US? Le Sigh mon cherie. I mean, really, my jeans – they are uber cute, no? Yes. They are. Ok time for a left turn, dear, follow me. WHEEEE!!!!”

      *gag*

      • iCouture

Damn if celebrities are not allowed to be anything more than stoic-faced. God, how boring…..If they were frowning, everyone would talk about how bitchy she is. Lose, lose.

    • bgrayduck

ANNIE HAS ZITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO DO I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh….. not that I’m an Annie fan but at least she has zits.

    • Jessica Freeman

This is less douchey than their last appearance. That’s all.

    • JeWawa

I see two people in love. I believe Anne to be a genuine , kind person, despite being an actress.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Love, love, love the jeans!

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Forget her, I weep over his glorious hair. As if I ever need an excuse for tequila or chocolate ice cream.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

That’s the most butch I’ve ever seen him look.

    • stubbornthoughts

Love this. They seem really great together.

Also love that Annie isn’t wearing any makeup. A-listers have blotchy skin, too!

    • Glam Dixie

I don’t know why, but I can just never like the look of highwater pants, male or female, casual or formal, they just look like too short pants too me. But otherwise, I think they look cute and casual.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I’m happy to see her out and about wearing flats of all things. Her pants are cute enough to wear twice. Yeah, her face looks like she just got out of bed and they decided to go out and get a paper or a croissant.

I’ve never felt comfortable with my arm through a man’s arm. Do men like this? I’d rather just hold hands.

    • kbshee

      No purse. Fake.

      • marlie

I do it all the time. Walking down the street to get coffee or an ice cream? I just grab a few bucks (or the bf, who has his wallet) and that’s it.

      • EveEve

Prominent designer purse with label front and center, dangling from crook in elbow closest to the cameras = fake.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Barefoot in the Park ref….I love you guys. I still try to make sure all my dresses have a matching slip. Happy Weekend!

    • JP

The fact that she’s wearing jeans she’s worn before seems more human and less movie star to me. I like it.

    • formerlyAnon

Hmm. They’re convincing me that this is going to last for at least two babies. Bless.

    • jencapture

Just curious…so she is sticking with the short hair, then?

    • cowper

      “Why do birds…suddenly appear?”

      • largishbearishAtlish

bonus points. good one :) Thanks.

    • Qitkat

This is the first time I’ve realized how cute Mr. Hathaway is ;)

    • ailujailuj

no self-respecting NYer cuddles in 90 deg heat.

    • judybrowni

Love the jeans, and the husband, hate that particular pair of flats.

      • DuBey2

me, too, about the flats. If they look that ugly (& uncomfortable) on Her, what hope is there for the rest of us?

    • demidaemon

Glad to see she ditched the blonde hair. I don’t think she could have worked it much longer.

    • Kwei-lin Lum

She looks to be truly in love, he looks self-satisfied.

    • JauntyJohn

Adorable. And might as well smile. Walking around scowling because they’re taking your pic will probably mean a lot of scowling in your day — and premature wrinkles.

    • bellafigura1

She’s keeping her chin up in the wake of a terrible few months, and a little clutching-and-ducking-and-fake-laughing is ok when the cameras are swarming you. I’m on her team.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Yes, it’s very admirable how she’s kept her head held high during that trying period of having an international hit film and winning a Best Actress Oscar. Such bravery.

        • bellafigura1

Geez, having the entire internet laughing and mocking you doesn’t require a game face? Y’all must be a lot tougher than me.

          • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

I don’t know what that means. I just think it’s funny that this is looked at as a trying time for her when she’s at a career and personal high. Celebrities get made fun of on the internet and by the public all the time. It’s part of the deal.

    • amanda lynn

i love that we’ve seen those pants on her before.

    • largishbearishAtlish

Glad to see the haircut is growing out. Nice to see a (gasp) beard! His glasses seem a tad ‘old person with bad wrap around shades’ to me. This is the charming, sweet smile of the Anne I fell in love with…thank you.

    • Danielle L

I like those pants but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t smack of “trying too hard”. Even as a newlywed, I didn’t want my hubs THAT close to me at all times.
