I don’t know. she looks like she’s wearing a mix between the wall and the blue carpet. I’m not saying she doesn’t look good, I mean, just that I’m a bit confused.

  • Jaeda Laurez

That purple lipstick is a no, at least with the blue in that dress. But brown girls in white always win, for me. And it helps that it’s a lovely dress, although I’d like a nice ring on her hand as an accent. Not a fan of the wrinkles, but they aren’t too distracting.

    • drdarke

So Garcelle Beauvais is wearing purple lipstick, @jaedalaurez:disqus – look at her, she’s a freaking Goddess !

She can wear WTF she wants – and if you don’t like, you can dodge the thunderbolts she’ll be shooting out of her eyes….

    • SpillinTea

And the sista is pushing close to 50. I couldn’t hate even if I wanted to.

      • P M

        WHAT?! whoa.

    • The purple lipstick is a big mistake. If she were a branch manager on girls’ night out, I’d be all over this. As movie star red carpet wear? Not so much.

  • Randy Noak

Sorry, I love purple, but no one should wear it on their lips.

    • Nancer

Totally. That’s all I can see when I look at the picture. Considering the fit of that dress, maybe it’s a good thing.

    • P M

I don’t think it’s the purple that’s wrong. I think it’s the shade of it, plus the blue earrings AND the lipstick are so LOUD together

  • Ummmm…it’s not the most flattering fit. Or silhouette. But she is so lovely, I want to like it and feel a little badly because I don’t really.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

    holy purple lipstick, batman!

  • Diego!

Mmmm I’m not sure about this one. Had she worn her hair up, it would have meant something really different (in a better way)

  • hughman

RC Rule #1 – Never eat grape popsicles in a white dress.

  • Garcia Loca

Even with the missteps others have mentioned (purple lipstick, not very forgiving silhouette), she is still striking, lovely, and OMG those eyebrows are sexual!

  • ballerinawithagun

Fabulous dress but on her it should be a halter so that it would create an uplifting sweetheart neckline to point to that beautiful face. Or T Lo need to be there to do their signature “yank up” just before the flash.

I like and have been known to wear purple lips!

    • Jaeda Laurez

Afrobella’s All of My Purple Life Lipglass was EVERYTHING- I love it, but the shade she’s wearing is pretty terrible.

      • MilaXX

I bought 3 of them. LOVE IT. I don’t hate her lips here. My guess is this is prettier in person.

        • Rand Ortega

Maybe a RC test photo shoot/full dress rehearsal should be a rule.

          • P M

you’d think they’d have a gallery of looks a la Cher in Clueless, no?

      • P M

OMG the blogger’s collection! MAC girls unite!! That collection was crazy and amazing and all good things and ….. yeah….. 🙂

  • Stella Zawistowski

I love the dress, wrinkles notwithstanding. I just wish I could tear my eyes away from that purple lipstick.

  • I think she looks stunning.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

She looks gorgeous even if there are a lot of things to nitpick about the outfit.

  • boldprint

I can’t get past the lipstick!!

  • MilaXX

It’s not for everyone, but I don’t hate the lipstick. From certain angles it looks great, others not so much. I have a bigger issue with the fit of the bustline.

    • Domo_Konnichiwa

I love that she had fun with the lip color. My only wish is that it had a gloss over it; she kinda looks hypothermic as it stands.

      • MilaXX

ITA. Afrobella’s All of My Purple Life would have been great here.

    • sweetestsith

I love the lip on her, but not the lip AND the earrings. Pick one Ms. Beauvais!

  • marlie

I’m SO distracted by the purple lipstick. It’s a pretty, dress, and I want to love it on her, but it seems a smidge too big. Or something. And I just can’t with that lipstick.

  • carnush

The purple lip distracts from the pretty. I’d have gone for a coral shade.

  • Rand Ortega

Love Garcelle, worked on her 1st commercial for Pepsi w/ director David Fincher (I was his assistant); we say hi whenever we see each other. But this gown is an example of what I call tablecloth dressing. It merely looks like the designer rolled her up w/ whatever was covering the table. The bodice is very unflattering. The styling is too heavy & a chignon would’ve worked much better w/ the dress. Man, though. She’s so beautiful.

    • Qitkat

My thought was the print looks like it would make a fabulous bed dust ruffle, in a sweet cottagey kind of way. But tablecloth works too. She is however, a very striking woman, the kind that turns heads.

    • P M

Overall, the shape of the dress makes her look like a wedding cake decoration. Which is frankly unfortunate. A less wide flare to the skirt would have been nice, ya know?

    • P M

Oh, also, in the 2nd to last pic: if she had moved a *little* bit to her left, she would have looked like a good ’emblem of the Americas’ or something, no? 😀

  • I thought about making snarky comments about this, but then I saw the model pic and thought, well, at least Garcelle looks alive! So, well done.

    • Dorothy & Michael n/a

You’re reading my mind!!! Yes, yes, yes.

  • barbarienne

Give a tailor a little bit of work (not much, just…make it fit perfectly), and this would be a good look. It’s not bad right now, but it could be better.

I love everything above the neck.

  • Alli614

did she eat a grape popsicle before she left the house???

  • PastryGoddess

    I hate this lipstick

  • Jessica Freeman

No to all of the above.

  • Janet B

Orchid/purple lipstick? No. Well, maybe, but not with that lovely dress.

  • TheAmericaness

    1. Wrong color lipstick
    2. Beautiful gown except that it is made from the type of material that as soon as you flutter your eyelashes it gets those large wrinkles from movement or from sitting or what have you. What’s the point? As soon as you get your photo taken you look like you’ve been about. It’s very pretty though.

  • crash1212

Nothing in this look is serving her well. That lipstick=WTF? And the dress is just one lumpy, bumpy, wrinkled mess that looks like it’s about to allow the goods to spill out at any moment. Just….no.

  • frannyprof

  • Toto Maya

I actually really love her hair and makeup and earrings. I don’t know what that says about me.

  • love the dress on her bodacious figure, but the purple lipstick, no. in the penultimate episode of “the face”, naomi campbell just about burned coco rocha on the spot for wearing a similar color.

  • jmorino08

Ugh! That lipstick! And that hair! And why would you leave the house in a dress that makes you look significantly bigger than you are?!? I am so flummoxed by this whole look. I need to lay down….

  • silaria

I… I love the lipstick. And the earrings. How is it any more ridiculous than a white girl with bright red lips?

  • Gloriana Reginata

I’m siding with those who love her lipstick and hair. I wish the dress were less crumpled, and perhaps the length more carefully judged to get over the stiffness where the material bunches up as it hits the ground. But she’s so striking, even with the imperfections: properly statuesque.

  • Sara__B

Her lips clash with her earrings. I can’t get beyond that.

  • Anniebet

I suspect the dress looks good on her, but damned if I can see it. I’m blinded by purple.

  • kimiakay

She is a beautiful lady, but if someone is advising her here they should be fired. The dress has possibilities but when it doesn’t even fit her properly it’s hard to look further. I, too, think she needs her hair up. I am flummoxed by the lipstick. Maybe in another setting but definitely with another dress. The lipstick clashes with her nails and earrings.

  • nannypoo

I hate her lipstick. The dress is maybe not a perfect fit but it’s beautiful on her.

  • conniemd

I didn’t even notice the lipstick, after review of comments, it’s okay. What bugs me is that the mermaid silhouette needs to be worn by an ultraskinny girl like the model. I love the dress, and a different skirt with the stunning design at the bottom would have looked gorgeous. Here her hips look humongous.

    • sweetestsith

Personal preference I guess, I think she looks sexy-beautiful and has a nicely balanced shape (like Sopia Vergara) that looks beautiful in the mermaid dresses.

      • Stacy Feng

Agreed, I love that she fills out the dress and how the dress calls attention to her curves.

  • myristica_fragrans

this would be perfect to me if her lips were glossy!

  • demidaemon

To me, her lipstick overpowers everything else. It’s making her look a bit pallid and corpse-like.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

That lipstick is so wrong . . .

  • Cameron Turner

Too bridal… ill fitted….. and please take off that lipstick……

  • eight_of_nine

I love the purple lipstick, haters to the left.

    • Me too! But I’m not sure it goes with the shade of blue in this dress. But it sure looks great against her complexion.

  • Seriously, I can’t even focus on the clothes- is she immortal? Why doesn’t she age?

  • irielle

I agree about her being a goddess, and I think the blue pattern on her dress is striking, but I’m another person voting no on the purple lipstick.
