Diaz and Coster-Waldau in NYC, Shooting “The Other Woman”

Posted on June 24, 2013

Just a couple shots of two really good-looking people who look good together. Sort of like chocolate and peanut butter that way.

Cameron Diaz and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on the set of their new movie ‘The Other Woman’ in New York City.

We don’t know anything about this movie, but if it’s a rom com pairing a 40-year-old actress with a 42-year-old actor, we should all run out and buy tickets. That’s practically revolutionary in a world where leading men tend to be at least 15 years, but sometimes as much as 30 years older than their leading ladies.

Oh, who are we kidding? You’d have to hold all three of our cats hostage to get us to buy a ticket to a rom com. But you guys should! They look cute together, no? Her dress is adorable.

The last rom com I saw was My Best Friend’s Wedding. Cameron hasn’t changed much.

    • Danielle L

I had the same thought: Total Kimberly Wallace.

      • Natalie Bryan

        I CAN BE JELLO!

  • I’m happy to hold your cats hostage, although Urchin isn’t hospitable to visitors. I really don’t like Cammy, as much as I endorse the idea of romance for the over 40s. And I am not sure I can sign off on his hair or loafers.

    • Eileen Duffy

      Loafers without socks. Ick.

      • alyce1213

Yes, but it’s not really HIM. I’d rather think it was what his character would wear.

    • drdarke

We have too many cats already for me to hold anybody else’s hostage….

  • ConnieBV

I don’t know what she did or stopped doing to her face, but she looks refreshed and cute as a button. I’d hit it with a neck brace, too.

    • l_c_ann

She has to have had major work done to smooth out the acne scars she used to have, and it’s great that that sort of thing is doable nowadays.

Add me to the unreasonable dislike list; I wish I could unsee something….Mary.

    • fursa_saida

I thiiiink she usually has SJP eyeliner syndrome on the red carpet, and the fact that her eye makeup has been taken out of her hands is making a huge difference. Possibly less bronze-ing as well?

  • Totally not fashion related, but something that bugs none the less: Is that the ONLY street people are allowed to film on in NY? Nearly every romcom I can think of has that specific street. It irks me to no end. End pointless rant.
She looks great. That’s one hell of a 40.

    • I think – but cannot be sure – that the street in question is a street in SoHo that doesn’t get a whole lot of traffic, possibly in part because it’s a cobblestone street. So it probably fills a lot of boxes in a location scout’s head – trendy area, not terribly hard to cordon off for filming, has a bit of romance to it…
Yes, I see the pile of garbage – but that’s like every street in NYC.

      • i thought those bags of garbage were props.

        • I suppose they could be, but it’s not uncommon to see big piles of garbage on the side of the street in NYC. I’ve been in cars and been unable to open the door because of accidentally pulling up next to a giant pile of garbage bags.

          • actually, then, the idea of them bringing fake bags of garbage to the set is kind of funny. like coals to newcastle or something…

          • MemHey

Thank you for referencing Newcastle. Makes my heart sing.

    • MasterandServant

Films really like to use the cobblestone streets- like Bond Street in SoHo is used a lot (last summer I walked to Dick Blick Art supplies and some sort of winter scene was being filmed- complete with fake snow and Christmas tree stands!). This is being filmed down by City Hall/Chinatown

    • drdarke

It looks to me like the side street Lord&Taylor’s is on – 38th or 39th off Fifth Avenue, I think.

  • Annarosa

she looks good in that dress but a lot of white on a blonde makes everything too bright and my eyes suffer.

  • marlie

You couldn’t pay me to see a rom-com starring Cameron Diaz, BUT I appreciate the fact that she and Nikolaj are roughly the same age.

  • majorbedhead

I just found out that Amy Adams is 9 years older than Henry Cavill, which means I will definitely be going to see Man of Steel. However, I really can’t stand Cameron Diaz, so I don’t know, I may wait for this to come out on Netflix.

    • gabbilevy

All I could think about while watching Man of Steel was how pretty Henry Cavill is. It was actually distracting. And how Amy said she couldn’t keep her hands off him.

      • DTLAFamilies

Apparently even her toddler daughter grabbed his butt, or so Amy said on Graham Norton. Also hilarious was how she realized that all of her drooling over Henry was a tad creepy in person.

        • gabbilevy

That’s a smart little girl! Also, I loved that interview. And Graham Norton, in general.

          • majorbedhead

I saw that interview, too. So cute. Both of them.

  • Eileen Duffy

You’re right! It’s so refreshing to see age appropriate costars! As a woman of a certain age — oh hell, I’m gonna be 48 — it makes me crazy that 40+ women aren’t allowed to star in rom coms.

  • TheAmericaness

    He’s hot.

  • momogus

    Oh Jamie……

  • jeneria

I just can’t with Diaz. I don’t think she’s funny. I don’t think she’s attractive, but I do give her props for somewhat defying Hollywood by still being a marketable commodity in her 40’s. There aren’t many who can do that.

    And Jamie, yes please.

  • stubbornthoughts

For being such a remarkable actor, we should really give Nikolaj a hand for agreeing to co-star with Cameron Diaz…

    • Nicholas

2013: “Who cares about that woman next to the Kingslayer!”

    • not_Bridget

      Heh. “Give him a hand.”

  • Stella Zawistowski

I am very meh about rom-coms, but I am not at all meh about Kingslayer. I may have to get myself a ticket.

  • bookish

I was so worried about the Kingslayer (sorry, Jaime) for a second there, but of course the brace is just a prop.

  • Whever

Wow, there is a LOT of cattiness about Cameron’s appearance in the comments today. :/

  • Virginia McMurdo

    Love dat Kingslayer.

  • sweatpantalternative

    That’s not Dennis Leary?

    • TropiCarla

  • Toto Maya

I just bought a dress almost exactly like that, I feel super stylish and classy and like TLO validates my existence. I’m not going to lie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau has the face and body of a Nordic god, and I will see almost anything he’s in, even if it totally sucks, which I’m sure this movie does. I might see it if it’s released on Netflix. I watched “Headhunters” with him in it the other day and didn’t like it, but damn he was FINE.

  • Toto Maya

Also, does this mean Jaime Lannister is getting a haircut? MAYBE EVEN IS GOING TO WASH HIS FACE??? I can’t wait for season 4!!!

  • hughman

Oh jeez, are all us guys going to have to rush out and buy neck braces now?

    • Kent Roby

Yes: i just ordered mine from Vivienne Westwood.

      • Donna Tabor

        Hot pink with rhinestones?

  • librarygrrl64

I have no problem spending $11 to see this man on a big screen. 🙂

  • Golfkat

Pretty sure her dress is from Zara for anyone who might be interested 🙂

  • JuliaInBlack

Yeah, not a Cameron fan, but I think she looks completely slammin’ here. Not a rom-com fan, either, but I’ll definitely go to see the Kingslayer and support the over-40 coupling… *sigh*… the things I do for love.

  • Tatiana Luján

The Holiday is another romcom with 40 something couples. It’s a very good movie.

    • Rand Ortega

I stinkin’ love that movie. Eli Wallach’s in it. ‘Nuff said.

      • Tatiana Luján

Eli Wallach is the best thing about that movie, he’s adorable.

  • Katerina

I don’t remember the last rom-com I willingly watched, but wild horses couldn’t keep me away from Jaime Lannister.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Ah, the Ovary-Slayer. Not even he is enough to get me to rom-com. Though, yay for casting like-aged actors.

  • Carrie L. Boram

Neck brace ahoy! Happy to see he has both of his hands but what’s up with maiming Jaime Lannister’s all I’m sayin’!

  • Cameron’s dress is adorable. Nikolaj’s hair is another story. Ugh.

  • cowper

Neck brace is an ugly shade of peach. Whose skin is that shade?

  • Lola Channing

her cutsy schtick is getting rather tiresome. I like her but she should evolve into a self-awareness French actresses have.

  • MilaXX

Apparently I missed the rom com gene. I’ll have to wait for this to hit cable and have a free Saturday with time to kill. Still it’s nice to see pretty people together.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Rom coms are my guilty pleasure (other than Project Runway, I guess), so maybe I will, though I usually watch them on Netflix late at night when there’s no chance of anyone catching me at it. ;p

    • random_poster

*Raising hand*…add me to the list of late-night rom-com viewership

  • “You’d have to hold all three of our cats hostage to get us to buy a ticket to rom com.”

Yeah, she looks cuter than she has in awhile, but there’s no level of cute that would make me care about this movie.

  • thanks for some cute pics of the kingslayer to make my day. i’ve been reading some fan fiction on line to tide me over til the new book is done, and he figures heavily in the one i’m into now. wish i could rip that thing off his neck and see the rest of him. cameron who?

  • fuflans

    do. not. love. ankle. straps.

love me some cameron, but they make even the prettiest legs stumpy.

  • MannahattaMamma

isn’t it weird that she seems not to age and he looks like Dennis Leary?

  • jdens

I love that you have three cats. Tell us, are they divas?

    • missinmass

oh yeah. They are in charge.

  • bd73

i’m thinking this could ruin him just when he’s got a solid shot at an emmy and serious actor bona fides. the age match is likely due to her being the more powerful of the two and getting to choose her dance partner. for my part, “knight and day” was quite a lot of fun. but i feel like diaz is getting old for playing this sort of lady. can’t she segue into a solid chick flick?

  • Her face looks like her face again. This is exciting news.

  • Stacy Feng

The Kingslayer slays more than kings….
