Carrie Underwood in Edition by Georges Chakra

Posted on June 06, 2013

Ooooh, girl. We’ll give you one thing; you DEFINITELY brought some honky-tonk to the proceedings.

Carrie Underwood attends the 2013 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee in a Edition by Georges Chakra sheer-paneled top and short paired with Jimmy Choo pumps.

Edition by Georges Chakra Spring 2013 Collection

And really, we’re fine with bringing the honky-tonk to an event like this. But this outfit is just … odd. The top half is pure Golden Girl couture and the shorts look like badly hemmed tap pants. And the shoes don’t really go with the look at all.

But we do love that country gal hair and makeup. Miss Carrie can rock that look like a champ. Too bad she chose a sparkly butchered jogging suit to go with it.

I’ll take her legs and diamond. She can have the rest.

      • Allison Drury

Couldn’t have said it better! I need to put down this apple streudal square and go for a run.

        • YoungSally

After the strudel — you need your strength.

      • quiltrx

You might want to think about taking her husband while you’re at it. (he comes with the diamond, I guess)

Was just thinking: what must it be like to wake up in the morning attached to THOSE legs. And then, to get to dress them up and walk around with them all day? What a wonderful world that must be. I’d wear odd shorts all the time, too, if it meant giving my amazing, perfect legs all the airtime they wanted.

    • JasmineAM

      LOL.

    • MilaXX

I like the outfit on the model sans gold hooker shoes, but not on Carrie.

      • conniemd

The model has really long skinny thighs. I think that helps the shorts look better

        • MilaXX

No I actually prefer Carrie’s legs. It’s the stylist on her I don’t care for.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Such an odd outfit… In seafoam, no less! No. Just no.

    • TheAmericaness

“Dear baby Jesus, please give me power phrase to help me through the day. Amen.”

      “Golden Girl Couture”.

      “Dear baby Jesus: Thank you!”

“I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I’m here to party.”

        • TheAmericaness

That visual makes for a much better bread and fishes story, me thinks. :D

    • Chris

I’m loving the Farrah Fawcett do! If only she wore some 70′s style evening gown with it I’d be in heaven. It would be a total “Love Boat” circa 1977 look.

    • imspinningaround

      Sorta related to Carrie here:

It makes me angry to an unhealthy degree that women go to these country music industry events dressed like they’re attending the Oscars, and the men LITERALLY show up wearing jeans and t-shirts. It just infuriates me.

      • TheAmericaness

Considering it’s the CMA’s I’m surprised the woman glam up as much as they do. It’s the CMA’s for heaven sakes. Men are not really supposed to dress to the 9′s. Not really. It’s not that kind of show. A woman could show up in hot jeans and high heels and it would look appropriate to me. I don’t know why they, the ladies, are the ones overdoing it. It’s country music. Like the MTV music awards. Or the Grammys where some guys show up with their pants to their butts. It’s music. NOT the Oscars.

        • Glam Dixie

It’s not even the CMA’s is just the CMT music awards which is like MTV but for country.

      • RebeccaKW

They should be wearing the country version of ‘dressed up.’ Jeans and boots, but a button down and a blazer. George Strait is the epitome of that style. And I know styles change, but at least ramp up your outfit a little. If you are wearing exactly what you would wear to the grocery store, to the bar, to your friend’s bbq, then you need to step it up a notch or two for an awards show.

        I need a pie!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        Nailed. It.

    • snarkykitten

all she needs is a top hat & a pair of tap shoes

    • Coolekat

I still can’t believe Sunday Night Football replaced Faith Hill with Betty White.

    • mjude

well at least she went outside of the box?

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

That is one of the most ill considered shorts ensembles I’ve ever seen.

    • thecitysleeps

The shoes and that toe nail polish are a worse abomination that those shorts and that colour. That’s hard to get by.

    • Judy_J

Looks like somebody forgot their shoes and had to rummage around in the Lost & Found for a pair. Ugly, and they don’t fit (her or the outfit).

    • Sara__B

Usher at the Roxie, Depression era. All she needs is a cap and different hair.

    • Austen Jane

Her legs are slammin’!! Go on, gurl!

      • murt

Yes her foundation looks like it’s just caked on………

    • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

Her face is way lighter than her legs.

    • Synnamin

In the thumbnail, I thought she was wearing a tracksuit

    • Lizzy

This looks like she should be at Peter Peterson New Used Car Lot Grand Opening….

    • sojourneryouth

She really is such a mayonnaise sandwich on white bread, isn’t she? She has a good voice, and great legs, but I just can’t find anything she wears or does exciting or interesting. This outfit is unfortunate.

      • demidaemon

I actually think she has some pretty kick-ass crossover songs. Her style needs some refining. She seems like she hasn’t figure out who she wants to be as a public figure yet.

    • gracedarling

Oof, so bad for her colouring, hair, and make-up. If Rooney Mara wore this, we’d all be talking about ‘Art Nouveau Realness’, but the effect on Carrie is pure ‘Home-Made Barbie Doll Glamour Tracksuit’.

      • Gwyndall

        Art Deco*

        • gracedarling

Art Typo! Too right, my fingers are going faster than my brain this morning – thanks for pointing that slip-up out.

    • SewingSiren

This poor girl needs fashion help. She’d be better off just wearing jeans or something. And the make-up ! Always way too much.

    • kipper

whew – this is going into the top 10 of forever bad red carpet…. maybe at #10, but there. It’s what a 15 years past Miss America wears on her 2 am infomercial .

    • Betsy

Switch those shoes for tennies, and head her out to the tennis court. The outfit would be over-the-top on the tennis court, but more appropriate than where she wore it.

    • Janet B

      That’s a lot of thigh

    • Allison Drury

This looks like Georges Chakra was participating in the Project Runway “use NYC as an inspiration challenge.” I see the skyline and architecture in the design. And then someone beat him to the black silk fabric bolt at Muse and he grabbed this seafoam polyester mess, ran out of time in the workroom and sent out this as his look. Bottom 3!!

    • SP

On the bright side, she now has a slutty Porter Wagoner costume for halloween…

    • newleaf1

Dang, if I had purty legs like that I would never wear a long dress. Thus ends the body comment. But yes, the outfit is a little out there.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

It strikes me as something a woman who has not been exposed to fashion nor much money would select after marrying herself a wealthy Texan who may or may not have chosen her in a mail order situation.

    • Miss WKS

It’s so nice of Miss Carrie to wear the winning design from the Project Runway “New York Skyline” challenge….

      • formerlyAnon

I totally thought of that challenge as well!

    • 3boysful

I have never liked this color–always reads cheap/old lady to me.

    • formerlyAnon

I think the aqua color drags this one south. I actively like the top, think the shorts are fine, but formal shorts (or as I feel compelled to call them, with more than a bit of a mental drawl “fancy dress-up shorts”) are Not A Viable Thing. Sorry ladies, they just never work.

She sure is happy & perky, though.

    • Monabel

Now, for me, the shorts ensemble works. Why? (Besides the absence of side boob.)

    • teensmom99

      golden girl couture–brilliant!

    • Andrew Schroeder

      HER FEET! OUCH, OUCH, OUCH…

      • Donna Tabor

But thank goodness she didn’t wear the shoes the model is wearing. Blech, ptooey.

    • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

      Loretta Lynn in space.

    • blueberrypanckae

all i can think of is Jr. Dolly Parton with the color /cut 1980′s blazer – but Dolly would never wear something this horrid

    • bertkeeter

Is she channeling the “ROCKETTES”? If so STOP!

    • BrooklynBomber

      Holy Tammy Faye Baker, Batman!

    • Louise Bryan

My take is that these are red carpet Daisy Dukes.

    • quiltrx

Carrie is SO beautiful, talented, has a hot hockey husband, and seems pretty ‘real’ when she talks. Why, Carrie, do you almost ALWAYS disappoint me on the RC?

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I’m not sure what I think of her legs….

The shorts are actually a bit too long. We need Taylor Swifts legs for the shorts. Oh, cr*p. I don’t like the top at all.

    • nannypoo

Her shoes are hilarious, but I’m embarrassed to admit that I like this outfit on her. Country singer clothes are so ridiculous anyway that she may as well wear this.

    • pattie capet

i kind of like it! esp. for a country music awards show. better than some over-the-top awful gown. and she looks happy in it, which helps a lot.

    • Tuneful54

The Betty White Collection for the gym at the senior center. Topped with a Barbie doll head and platform heels, my head is about to explode, from cognitive dissonance.

    • carnush

      Awful.

    • ConnieBV

Golden Girl couture. This is a look I will now ACTIVELY try for.

    • MarissaLG

I would have liked it better with lighter colored shoes, but this is a weird and cool look and works for her.

    • Not applicable

I appreciate that she wants to play up her strengths– credit where credit is due- girl’s got the gams…wow!! but yea, weird choice of toothpaste blue… why not just a hot sparkly mini dress?

As for the shoes- are they way too small? her arch is way above the shoe. It looks REALLY uncomfortable. Honey, go up a size and use a little slip pad under the ball of your foot. nobody will know and you’ll be so much more comfortable.

    • stubbornthoughts

I actually totally dig this on her.

    • MGMcD

Weird. Put this same outfit on Solange and I’d bet money on a WERQ. But Carrie makes it look like she’s off her meds.

    • Beverly Kozma

      Damn, that’s ugly.

    • lilyvonschtupp

A blouse and shorts. I’m underwhelmed.

    • MannahattaMamma

shoes too big, hair too big, eyelashes too big, diamond too big (yes, it’s possible). Shorts too small. Jacket too Russian mobster’s wife. Just too too too
