Adams and Cavill for Interview Magazine

Posted on June 06, 2013

Why, Lois and Superman. Don’t you two look … wet.

‘Man of Steel’ stars Amy Adams and Henry Cavill cover the June/July 2013 issue of Interview magazine.

Henry Cavill: “Getting a role like this is such a wonderful opportunity…I remember looking in the mirror and going ‘I’m Superman.’”

Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Karlina Caune (VIVA)

They’re pretty great shots, but Amy really can’t handle a dark lip like that. It does nothing for her. We get what they were going for, but it feels like someone accidentally put Kristen Stewart’s face on her.

Henry Cavill’s face is the definition under “perfect face” in the dictionary. I don’t even know anything about him, but dayum.

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

Watch The Tudors – esp. first season! :)

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Right? Bare manbooty, I will say no more.

        • Mismarker

You had me at “bare manbooty”. Presumably Cavill’s? *shuffling off to Netflix*

    • Nicholas

The worst thing about him is that he comes across as the nicest guy in the world in interviews.

I would feel a lot better, if he were a pompous twat.

      • MK03

Whaaa?? That makes him even better!

        • Melissa Brogan

He said in an interview that he used to be called ‘Fat Cavill’ and was playing World of Warcraft when he got the call that he’d be the next Superman. He seems normal for a celeb :)

    • Mrs. Julien

He isn’t, I don’t know, maybe, I’m just saying, perhaps, uh, too “pretty”? Not soap opera pretty which is when they look like they should be good looking and it’s just a mirage of hair product, I would never disparage Cavill in that way, but I find him, in spite of the efforts of his magnificent nose, almost too good looking to be sexy, (except for that eyes closed shot which just tickled my ovary), and except for maybe the fact that he does seem to possess Jackman levels of niceness. It’s crazy, I know, but when Cavill doesn’t have the scruff, he looks too perfect in that Jaclyn Smith way where you can objectively see the beautiful but it’s not quite somehow. I feel the same way about Matt Bomer, only moreso.

[Going to stand by the wall and brace for the stoning.]

      • ccinnc

Completely agree, Mrs. Julien. I told my daughter yesterday he’s verging on Rob Lowe Pretty. Doesn’t do much for me. And did I hear that he was Albert [the son] in Count of Monte Cristo? Too lazy to look up. :)

      • julnyes

He is objectively attractive, but does not make my heart palpitate.

        • Sobaika

You know what he makes palipitate? MY NETHER REGIONS.

That only sort of made sense. I still insist that one should get a look at dat ass before fully deciding Cavill doesn’t do it for them.

          • julnyes

Ha ha …my nether regions remain unpalpitated despite his butt beauty. Believe me I acknowledge the good looks, but the chemistry isn’t there for me. I’m sure he is crying into his cornflakes over this lack every morning. :)

          • http://twitter.com/Hussified Coleen

I thought you both were writing “Palpate”, and I’m sitting here like a dirty lech, thinking to myself, “Yeah, Henry can come palpate any part of my body WHENEVER he wants.”

      • formerlyAnon

Yup. I call it “too conventionally attractive” for me to be attracted. Most Leading Men strike me that way, though I can see what the fuss is about.

      • TheAmericaness

I have a friend that lives in L.A. and she got to go to the Oscars one year, so she was at the prep shows that they do beforehand and she got to meet Hugh Jackman. When she told me that she met him, after I picked myself back up off the floor and tried not to strangle her out of pure jealousy, I asked her if he was as nice as they say he is. She said he was, by far, the nicest person that she met there, hands down. He came and sat down with her and few others and shared the Oreos he had with all of them and talked to them for quite awhile and was so kind and polite. She said that nobody else that she met (and she met quite a few celebs) were as … down to earth or at least she didn’t sense any sort of Hollywood “oh my god where’s my cell phone! I can’t believe that the nanny…..If those shoes I.. yada yada yada..” kind of madness from him at all.

So, I saw you said Jackman niceness and I couldn’t resist telling you this. I going to go puke because I’m still rabidly jealous. :D

        • formerlyAnon

I will love you forever for sharing this anecdote. (Or until I remember I heard a 2nd hand account confirming how lovely Hugh Jackman is and forget both the details and where I heard it.) I have a possibly unhealthy need to believe that at least few people can be successful and attractive and usually (because no one is perfect) pleasant.

        • Adelaidey

I’m not attracted to men, but if I had the chance to share Oreos with a tuxedo-wearing Hugh Jackman, I’d probably cry with excitement.

      • LambeeBaby

yes, he is perfectly beautiful. but I truly believe that he could do dirty really well.

  • charlotte

They look like vampires. Not sure that was what Interview was going for.

    • http://wipgirl.wordpress.com Kristel

I had the exact same thought, with Adams more than Cavill, but yeah, vampires.

    • AmandaG

Speaking of Henry Cavill and vampires, if I remember correctly, before Twilight was made in to a movie, Stephenie Meyer (sp? I know she spells it funky) said in her dream cast, HC would play Edward. Many fans got on board and tried their absolute hardest to get him cast (petitions and shizz) and were so pissed when whats-his-face was cast instead.

      • charlotte

I guess they had a point then!

      • http://www.celestiae.net Isy

Back back in the day before the fourth Harry Potter film came out, I wanted him to play Cedric Diggory and they cast that same git instead. Boo.

  • gabbilevy

Henry, honey, I’ll tell you you’re Superman any time you want.

  • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

    Holy fuck Henry Cavill. Seriously.

    • FashionShowAtLunch

      Well said.

    • mshesterp

It’s actually kind of gross how pretty he is. Actually, not pretty, but just ridiculously, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Stop it, already, Cavill. Just…stop it.

  • mjude

i know amy is in the movie but i had to do a double take!

  • Diego!

This is the gayer comment I’ll ever do, but if she had a better eyeliner, it would have been a winner shot! :P Both look amazing! I can’t wait for the movie!

    • Mrs. Julien

Your response to those pictures of Henry Cavill is to quibble about Amy Adam’s eyeliner? Are you sure you’re gay?

      • Diego!

hahahaha I’m gonna go and see a doctor hahahaha xD

  • Megan Kennedy

He never seems to relax his eyebrows, but that’s fine by me. What is it about clenched eyebrows that makes a man’s face so much, well, manlier?

    • Nicholas

I think he must have gained some weight at some point, which can stretch your skin and make your forehead droop a bit, with your eyebrows dropping down a little over your eyes. I experienced the same recently, and you can see the same with other famous people like Stephen Amell, and probably Ryan Gosling as well. (I don’t think they mind me saying, considering the adulation they already enjoy.) There are some tell-tale signs, but we who experience the effects are sworn to secrecy.

Clearly, this is one of the few things I have in common with those guys, but I’ll take it. :P

This isn’t aimed at you, but to anyone else who might comment on the blog for other people’s photos, always be careful with criticizing a celebrity for “looking tired” or “never smiling”, because some just look that way, which is one of the reasons TLo is so great for flagging body-shaming and its inklings.

      • lubilu

In an interview I read recently he said that he’d been consistently overweight at school and was known as Fatty Cavill… which means he’s now still super insecure about his looks…

        • demidaemon

WHAAAT? That doesn’t seem right but somehow makes him awesomer.

  • sablehunter

    Superman indeed

  • Nicholas

Henry Cavill and Mads Mikkelsen should have a cheekbone duel to the death.

    • ccinnc

Please let Mikkelsen be left standing. Yum.

    • julnyes

Mads is some next level business.

  • Calinda_L

Wow. The photographer seemed to favor him a lot more than her. They’re both gorgeous beyond belief and probably photograph very differently, but this is a classic case of one person looking terrrrrrific in a photo (him) and the other looking like they’re standing next to someone who looks terrific (her).

  • decormaven

That’s just too much lip product on her. It’s all I see in the cover shot.

  • SophiaPehawkins

He always looks really great in photoshoots, but he does nothing for me in candids or the red carpet. I just adore Amy Adams, so I love her in everything, except that last picture.

  • NOLA_gal

I don’t know what’s happening here, but I’m not convinced that’s actually Amy Adams. It looks NOTHING like her!

    • drdarke

Yeah, @NOLA_gal:disqus – that looks as much like Amy Adams as those red carpet photos of Juliette Lewis yesterday look like her….

      …as in, Not At All.

  • Vickiefantastico

I am, I am Superman, and I can do anything…c’mon, I can’t be the only one humming it!

  • acevedob

Is Amy getting thinner or is it that the blessed Photoshop?

    • Mary229

She has looked super thin to me recently. I know she’s petite but she usually has some meat on her. I don’t want her falling victim to the too thin syndrome. :(

  • Lesley

His eyes are super intense and he has that perfectly chiseled jaw. My God, if this isn’t perfection i don’t know what is.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

The “wet” jokes practically write themselves.

  • Randy Noak

    I didn’t even recognize her.

  • BrooklynBomber

    That Vuitton . . . dress?. . . is unspeakably bad.

  • MilaXX

    Him yes. Her, no.

  • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

He looks hot (as always). She looks too vampy for my taste.

  • SewingSiren

Second editorial in a row that doesn’t look like Amy Adams. She didn’t get some horrible procedure did she? I hope not.

    • $26351735

Her eyes and hair always help me identify her, otherwise I get her confused with Rose McAdams. Those 2 features don’t show up in b&w.

    • HengRu

Yeah, she’s unrecognizable here. When I saw the page title, I knew “Cavill” was Henry, but I had no idea who this “Adams” person was.

  • Beth513

HENRY. DOES. IT. FOR. ME. Dayum.

  • Cameron Turner

    That face of his……. perfection……

  • formerlyAnon

It’s almost as if they come from photo shoots styled in different decades.

    • Mary229

That might have been the point. Lois and Clark are 75 year old characters. Literally. They just celebrated their 75th anniversary. The characters are both vintage and modern at the same time. They call back to Shakespeare in some respects and yet can be very modern. Maybe that was on purpose. Maybe not. Don’t know. But I wouldn’t say it’s entirely out of character to do something like that with these particular characters.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

You’re totally right about the makeup throwing her into K-Stew Territory. It’s not good for her. HE looks smokin’ hot as always!

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I like him more every time I see him.

    • MaggieMae

Especially if he doesn’t talk! ;-)

I had a crush on him in The Tudors, but oy, his acting was painful.

  • alyce1213

He’s gorgeous beyond reason. I’d buy a ticket just to sit and look at that face for a couple of hours.
I don’t think Amy fared as well in this layout. The Greta Garbo shot is just not working for me. (I blame the photographer or stylist – she’s great raw material).
It’s interesting that she is photoshopped to death (smoothed, shaded, etc), but he’s not.

  • crash1212

Yeah, that dark lip is WAY too much for Amy. She’s such a strange thing in pictures. I love, love, love her in the movies and go out of my way to watch anything she’s in even if I don’t think I’ll like the movie – but – she just doesn’t seem to translate in photo spreads or on red carpets. So weird.

  • Anniebet

Tsk tsk, stylist. That lip on Amy spoils her pictures. But who am I kidding, we’re not looking at her anyway.

Him. (looking for my ever-so-delicate Japanese fan because one must be refined and couth when breaking out in a sweat over such lusciousness).

  • Erica_Vuitton

Worst Amy cover ever!! Wonky eye and undereye bags. Wow she approved this???

  • ashtangajunkie

I thought she was Kristen Stewart. Both beautiful, but not the same. Henry Cavill is frigging DELICIOUS. The whole Superman thing doesn’t hurt his case either.

  • cowper

Younger Jude Law in that second to last photo…drool.

  • pattycap11

that photo of him looking down is wow.

  • BookishBren

There are pictures of Amy Adams on this page? ;)

  • Louise Bryan

The word that came to mind looking at Amy was “Vampira.”

  • quiltrx

He’s so beautiful he’s almost painful to look at.
And I wish they’d left the (obvious choice) red/white/blue bit off the cover. That way it looks like they’re in some wet vampire movie. Which sounds hot.

  • stephbellard

I want him so bad I can barely keep my clothes on while viewing this post.

  • Lisa Dugan

I saw the thumbnail and was wondering why Kristen Stewart was on the cover with Cavill. I’ve never seen the resemblance before but she just looks so very different.

  • Adelaidey

His face looks too aristocratic for Superman. There, I’ve said it.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I didn’t even recognize Amy Adams, and I mean that in a good way. Nice to see her get out of her comfort zone.

  • Super_Red

I’m so glad you said that- I thought I was going crazy because I don’t think that Amy Adams and K-Stew usually look all that similar.

  • Mary229

I love the photoshoot but I’m a Lois and Clark fan from way, way back and always will be. The dark lip doesn’t bother me on Amy. I like that she’s going outside her comfort zone.

  • kolokOlchik

I *thought* it was Kristen Stewart before you pointed out this was Amy Adams

  • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Never let the male model outshine you (says Tyra on ANTM). As stunning as Henry Cavill is, Amy holds her own. I like the whole layout in black and white. IMO, she handles the dark lipstick (maybe not in a color layout).

You guys have introduced me to Henry Cavil. I watched the Leno interview that you provided. Thank you. The word “gorgeous” is an understatement. And thank you, Lord. The man has modesty. His face should be in the dictionary next to “bone structure.” Woweeee Zoweeeee!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

How can they let a Brit play Superman? This is what my husband says ALL DAMN DAY, gnashing his teeth.
