Posted on May 01, 2013

Charlotte Olympia Fall 2013 ‘Fairy Tale’ Bags. You can see the shoes from the same collection here (updated).

    • DeborahJozayt

I love the clock, but the rest look like something I could make.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Elaine-Lang/100000366510311 Elaine Lang

Yeah…very Etsy. That last one actually looks just like the purses a friend of mine makes and sells on Etsy.

        • Heather

Totally. They’re like the stuff you buy at little craft markets here in Asheville, NC for like $50. But I’m sure these aren’t $50. Would rather buy the craft market ones.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

They look pretty damned cute. Personal faves? The house, the mushroom, and the clock.

    • M_E_S

I would trade my first-born child for that last bag.

      • Scoobydrew

isn’t that how Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin start?

        • M_E_S

          Funny how that works….

    • VicD

The tree and the wolf! But these are rather Zooey Deschanel twee.

    • Nikko Viquiera

Who cares if these look crafty! They’re cute and bring out the little girl in me! (and I’m a 30 year old man.) hahaha.

      • Nikko Viquiera

I really wish they’d make one for men. Maybe a sling bag with a sling that looks like a sword!

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ginny-Ellsworth/534496198 Ginny Ellsworth

How about a guy bag that looks like a quiver for arrows?

          • Nikko Viquiera

            Yes, yes, yes!

    • tereliz

The mushroom is about the only one I could see myself rocking. The clock is cute, too. The rest are a little TOO cute.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Yea. I like a little whimsy in my accessories.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=647819696 MaryAlice Finley Davis

      Very, very whimsical and cute!

    • Sarah

YAY YAY YAY. I take them ALL and look like a total weirdo to my imaginary paps. HBC and I will call you later when we’re done sporting around town in our awesome ensembles with fairytale bags.

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

They’re very cute, but I can’t help but feel that I can find something similar at Etsy for half the price.

      • Guidosdaddy

I just looked up her bags. They run from 500-2000 bucks! I’m thinking Etsy would have them for 10% of the price! Super cute though.

      • Sarah

You can find something similar to EVERYTHING on Etsy for less. Moot point. You are supposed to be buying the bag AND the brand.

        • Kenisha Hill Phillips

I’m supposed to make a value judgment and buy what I want. And if that means finding the same amount of whimsy at a fraction of the price on Etsy, then that’s what’s happening, brand be damned.

          • Sarah

Easy there. I didn’t say you had to buy anything you didn’t want. I just meant that the reason why these particular bags are expensive and a similar bag on Etsy might be so much cheaper is Charlotte Olympia’s brand. I didn’t mean “you” personally, I meant “people.” I don’t buy crap for the brand, EVER, so I agree with you completely.

            • Kenisha Hill Phillips

Sure. I understand what you’re saying. I’m sorry got so defensive.

I like them and think they are fun, but not in a “covet all the things if I win the lottery” kind of way.

            • Sarah

Shoot, if I win the lottery, I’ll be lucky if there’s any money left over to buy things I covet after I dig myself out of crushing debt ;)

            • formerlyAnon

You simply are not fantasizing about winning the lottery correctly, then!!!!
First premise: I am going to win SO MUCH MONEYS that all the tedious obligations are taken care of without batting an eye, and there’s plenty left for fun & charity.

            • Sarah

HA! You are genuinely nicer than I. NONE of my lottery fantasies include charity.

            • formerlyAnon

Haha! I suspect you haven’t put enough time into this – I drove past a billboard for the lottery every day on my way to work for literally years. 5-10 minutes of fantasy a day for nearly a decade allows for quite an extensive range of imaginary spending . . .

      • ankali

Etsy was my first thought. I don’t mind these, but there’s no way in hell I’d pay designer prices for them.

    • MilaXX

LOVE them all. I wish I could afford Charlotte Olympia. She sometimes goes too kitschy, but I like a lot of her stuff.

    • crash1212

YAY! Would totally knock somebody down for the “mushroom” and “clock” bags.

    • Stubenville

Mostly too twee. The first one looks like something granny would stash her knitting in, and the one with the clock is for Flava Flav’s next girlfriend.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

The mushroom one just makes me want to play Super Mario Bros.

    • erinbinek

Yes! Love them all, but especially the clock and the mushroom. The house is pretty cute, too. :)

    • Ms. Schmidt

      Love the whimsy.

    • MarissaLG

I love the wolf, clock and mushrooms best but they’re all cute.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      YAY! Really love them.

    • Imasewsure

I wouldn’t use them but I say YEAH. These are cute. Now I’m going to check out the shoes

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

These are kind of cute. Really impractical, but cute nonetheless. YEA.

    • Janet B

      Not practical, but cute.

    • C. C. Winslow

      Yes, love.

    • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

Yes. Fairy tales resonate with me, making me overlook the twee factor. Though I wish the tree in the first bag had a gnarly old man’s face rather than a beautiful lady’s.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571205045 Kent Roby

I promise you we’ll see each of these on Suri Cruise and Katy Perry.

    • msdamselfly

Love the first bag and the concept

    • Sobaika

Yay – they have a lot of whimsy, love the clock.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I usually adore kitschy purses. But with the exception of the wolf clutch, these all look like they’re trying too hard.

    • theblondette

Cuuuute! Though I can totally buy almost identical things from etsy already.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

      I want them all

    • http://www.facebook.com/conysoledad Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

The clock, the house and the book for me, please!

    • Sally Brownson

      ADORABLE

    • tripletmom96

j’adore these! yes, they are whimsical and a little artsy-fartsy, but they really are adorable. not everyone can get away with them, but the with right person, event and outfit they would really rock!

    • VioletFem

YEAH. The clock and the book are my favorites. The house and the mushroom ones are also really pretty.

    • snarkykitten

These are totes adorbs fo sho. But I can probably find similar ones on Etsy for way less!

    • lrober03

Cute, I suspect when we see celebrities carrying them, they’ll be part of an outfit that is nauseatingly twee

      • Qitkat

The clock would look awesome with something elegant I think. Well, fancy and not-twee.

    • RebeccaKW

These are fun. Definitely a Yea on the right person.

    • Qitkat

The first bag could inspire a very eye-catching quilt.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bethany-Roullett/100000413803142 Bethany Roullett

Yay for cute. Not the prices though.

    • jetpackdino

Yea. The first bag is a bit Etsy, but the rest of them are lovely. I love that clock bag.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

Cute and whimsical! I like these, and want the wolf purse for myself. The house purse is super cute!

    • gabbilevy

Yea!! These work SO much better than the shoes!

    • SewingSiren

Cute, but they all look like they were created by different designers. I would not judge them to be expensive either.

    • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

I’m a bit exhausted by her schtick, but these are sort of adorable.

    • TheAmericaness

Oh, why the hell not.. IN.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

Not very practical, but I love them all. Big yes!

    • In_Stitches

The mushroom one is fantastic. The rest look like fancy urban outfitters totes.

    • myristica_fragrans

i love that clock bag, and it would be the best thing ever if it actually kept time..

    • kaycem

i love all but the first and next-to-last one… the house is my particular favorite.

    • formerlyAnon

God no. These are props, not accessories. Nay. Too twee by far.

    • Fordzo

No. They all say “Etsy” to me. Also, I don’t want to see another wolf for a long, long time. I get flashbacks.

    • notterriblybitter

Yay to all of them but an extra big yay to the mushroom bag. And the book.

    • Synnamin

OMG. I LOVE!!! the Mushroom, house, and the clock bags are wonderful!

    • maggiemaybe

I’ll take the one with the wolf please!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-Charlotte-Siewierkiewicz/503556621 Jessica Charlotte Siewierkiewi

I’m a sucker for fairytales and fairytale themes, and I have waited for aaaages for another book bag! I also want the clock and house.

    • Trisha26

      Too twee by half.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Generally,, I prefer the shoes in this collection to the purses. The sheoes are more suggestive and evocative. The purses are too literal for my taste, save for the mushroom one, which is making me sigh with lust.

    • jmorino08

I think the fairy tale concepts translates better into purses than shoes. These look charming. The shoes read either freaky (tree trunk heel with eyes) or chintzy (those flats with the clock on them look like something a grown-ass Disney fan would wear with her good Pooh sweatshirt.

    • http://twitter.com/nuanc Nancy SM Waldman

      Presh

    • http://twitter.com/ADCtheABC Annie Chen

      Yea. I’m sucker for whimsy.

    • Kimberly Southern-Weber

      YEA

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Cute, but I feel like I’ve seen these on Etsy. No big though. Better than the shoes, generally.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Mostly too editorial, but I could make room in my black heart for the Once Upon A Time version. The clasp!

    • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

YEA YEA YEA!! Can I have 1 of each please?!

    • Courtney St. Julian

I guess I’m having memory issues today…what Fairy Tales are these referencing? I don’t recall a fairy tale in which a mushroom played an integral part. These seem only vaguely connected to fairy tales. Still, the purses are “cute.”

    • SouthernGirlRena

IN. The house and clock are my personal faves but I love them all.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

For me or my nine year old daughter?

    • save_the_hobbit

I love these, especially the clock and the house. Ugh, wish I had money.

    • demidaemon

I think the less literal ones work better than the literal ones.

    • http://www.facebook.com/NicoleLittle1 Nicole Little

IN, and I will sick my fairy godmother on anyone who says otherwise.

    • http://twitter.com/Bloodisea Barbora

Yea, love the clock and the last one.

    • http://twitter.com/kendallbrunson SassyMcFrench

I want all except the first!

    • AlisonS

I only LOVED the kitten slippers from the shoe collection but I love these bags! My least favorite is probably the wolf in the woods but that clock is definitely my favorite!

    • http://twitter.com/TVcastingcall Reality TV Casting

yay, its literal whimsy, and look forward to seeing these looks deployed onto the red carpet– no super literal accessorizing please!

    • unbornfawn

      Yea. They are fun.

    • pookiesmom

As a fairy tale nerd, LOVE LOVE LOVE.

    • kathrineb

The house and the mushroom ones are really cute. I only dislike the first one.

    • frederieke

I like the mushroom one. Well… I like the little mushroom on top of the mushroom bag. I would take that minus the bag.

    • IDreamIn4D

CUTE! very cute! I can rock these everyday of the week!

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Maybe the only person on earth who could wear these is Quevezhane Wallis (the little girl from Beasts of the Southern Wild).

    • guest2visits

      Hellno.

    • H2olovngrl

Cute for certain age group . Tweenagers

    • ccm800

we need someone to encourage growing the hell up. This perpetual state of teen that is our culture is getting freaky AND tired.

    • Alyssa

I’ll fight someone to get the house purse! J’adore!

    • lilazander

I love the book and the first bag, the hose is too crafty.

    • fursa_saida

Not into it. But then I’m one of those people who likes the darker versions of fairy tales. Most of these are too cutesy for me.

    • librarygrrl64

      Yay. These are fun. :-)

    • polishpauper

I want the mushroom one, I love it!

    • Shamane Dunn Whiting

yeahee! love the whimsy! I want the once upon a time black
      heel and the emerald clutch
