“Illusion” netting – I don’t think the designer knows what that word means.
    It’s a great color wasted.

    • sojourneryouth

I agree. When I mentally edit it out, I can somewhat get behind this. She is totally pulling off the color in the way few could, and I can live with the silver bling, but that netting is giving me indigestion.

      • http://twitter.com/hmbscully WendyD

Yes, the bling is lovely. It would’ve been lovely on the yellow in someway.

    • JosephLamour

The illusion netting would actually be an illusion if it were on a white person. So either she should have picked something else, or they should of changed the netting for her.

      • http://twitter.com/hmbscully WendyD

Only if that person were a ghost. That is seriously WHITE netting.

    • TAGinMO

      Looks like cobwebs.

Where “illusion netting” crosses the line into “malaria tent”

  • TheAmericaness

Oh, fug, no. Talk about overworked. I’m sure it’s very expensive, but that is one piece of tacky fug.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

It’s exhausting just to look at.

    • aeb1986

I think the back is sort of elegant (in the last shot at least) but the front, jesus, that is the definition of overworked

  • amanda lynn

    busy busy busy busy busy

    • theecstaticflash

Busy Drag Queen (youtube is your friend)

  • Deb_Lynn

aww, it could almost be there, but it’s unnecessarily fussy. I don’t think the bare shoulder jewel thingy should have made the final cut…

    • http://www.facebook.com/howard.sturrup Howard Sturrup

This gown needed some editing , it just has one two many things going on but I like even though it could have been better with some editing.

  • hughman

    Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent.

    • PetitePear

I’m confused. I mean I get the acronym, but why is this being used to describe her or the way she dresses?

      • homofascist

RuPaul’s Drag Race. TOTAL drag queen dress…

        • homofascist

A rather FABULOUS drag queen dress that would be though, to be fair.

        • PetitePear

          Thank you.

    • http://www.facebook.com/howard.sturrup Howard Sturrup

Who needs a reason to use this drag race catch phrase hunties!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=149100065 Virginia McMurdo

    NO.

    • http://www.facebook.com/howard.sturrup Howard Sturrup

It’s not a bad dress the designer should have left well enough alone in regards to the back of the dress.the color is so bold the design of the dress should have been more reserved.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Obsequious, motherfucking, illusion netting + Bargain bin material x cheap looking eye make up = Hot Tacky Mess.

  • demidaemon

This is a BF-UD or a Frankendress. I need to figure out that particular distinction.

    • Daisy Walker

I think a Frankendress is if you cover up either the top or bottom, the dress looks okay–they just don’t go together. This hot mess is BF-UD, imho.

  • SugarSnap108

That is some aggressive use of illusion netting. And general tackiness.

  • alyce1213

There’s way too much going on, far too many elements, and not much of it good (the color). Sometimes, a closer look at a garment gives me a better impression of it because the beadwork, draping, or other detailing may be great, but these closeups are having the reverse effect. The beading looks amateurish and not well thought out. Her earrings and ring are at war with what’s happening on her back and shoulders. This is one crazy mess, no restraint.

    • Jennifer Coleman

I like the color, but not really on her. She looks a bit washed out. Her usual glowy gold tone seems pink.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

The illusion netting is disastrous. The seams in the front are wonky, and there are at least 2 design elements too many.

  • nannypoo

She’s beautiful. What a shame to waste it on this crappy dress.

  • jmorino08

    Too pageanty!

  • stubbornthoughts

    What the fuck is that?

  • TSkot

Someone forgot the old adage “less is more.”

  • appliquer

    Horrible.

  • jencapture

Looks like my grandma finally repurposed the ragged mesh netting from her screened in porch…

  • theecstaticflash

Mais pourquoi? *buries face in palm*

  • macwell

I think she looks outstanding – illusion netting notwithstanding….

  • VeryClaire

    Disillusioned Netting

  • CPK1

the dress had potential but went wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far. And her neck tattoo does not help.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

An explosion at a sari factory. That’s the only explanation.

  • conniemd

Call me crazy, but I actually love this overwrought dress because the color is gorgeous on the model and she is working the shit out of it. But then yellow was my mother’s favorite color (she was a dark french Canadian) and I always fall for yellow dresses.

    • sweetestsith

Oh thank goodness, someone else is crazy too! I find myself loving it, it’s so busy and interesting and yet I don’t think it pulls focus from her lovely face.

The makeup is not my favorite though. I don’t like the pastel eyeshadow on her, the lipstick is pretty though.

  • Anniebet

Wowser, that is one over-the-top gown for Miss Lemon Festival of 1997. The eye makeup is scary.

  • B_C_J

Her facial bone structure is amazing – truly beautiful. However the only thing great about this dress is the color. It is way too overworked. The illusion netting is a very unfortunate element.

  • patticake1601

Its so badly made!!! The organza is fraying, the seams are all puckered on the organza under her arms. Where the organza comes out under her boobs it is all weird. You can see the stitch points on her chest…its just badly constructed and put together. Awful.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    Too editorial for the RC.

  • MilaXX

I like everything but the bag.

  • frannyprof

    Beautiful woman, ugly gown.

  • Mona_Visa

She put on alllllllll that and she couldn’t take 5 minutes to put on a decent pair of lashes? pfft. Go big or go home girl.

  • guest2visits

That’s a lot of dress going on. But she’s so statuesque and beautiful it works. I adore all the beading and trinkets on the shoulders and back; but all those Cinderella swags need to go.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

That’s a big train as in train wreck!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

    Drag queen.

  • GoAwayKardash

    Supermodel?? I don’t think so.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

She’s beautiful and the colour is good but the dress… and if it isn’t Christy, Linda, Naomi or Claudia I can’t get behind the title “supermodel”.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

Is it weird that I like this?

  • decormaven

Very busy dress, but she’s working the back draping. And that’s a great color- definitely sets her apart. Not a fan of the eye makeup.

  • carnush

I think it’s dramatic and bold. The neck tattoo kind of ruins the effect of the back though.

  • Marinita

Dress is tacky (those sleeves! the keyhole! the wrapping!), with fit issues and about 4″ of extra fabric on the hem.
The colour is horrible – could be ok if it was deployed in small mesures, reduced the neon-ness, made more of chartreuse or any combination of the three.
The make up and Hair is mediocre and bit amateurish in design.
    Earring clash with dress.

All I can say, is thank goodness we cant see the shoes? Can you imagine what she is wearing underneath it?

  • iheartbuffy

    Deliberately-Fucked-Up-Gown.

    • sagecreek

You took the words right out of my mouth.

  • barbarienne

On anyone other than a supermodel, this would be a disaster. She’s posing the hell out of it with those Erte-inspired hand-on-ass angles and tension. But really what that accomplishes is to make clear that the woman inside the dress is much too good for that dress.

  • julnyes

She is trying to serve, but it is not getting over the net.

  • Tamara Hogan

I think that color should be permanently eliminated from the fashion palette. Forever and ever. Amen.

  • Jackie4g

That dress should have stayed in Ecuador. The color is beautiful but the overwrought design is not.

    • toastedink

      AGREED!!

  • toastedink

That dress is a shit show.

  • librarygrrl64

HAAAAAATE this shade of yellow, and the gown is way overdone, but she excels at posing and is working the hell out of it.

  • kimiakay

Well. This is an almost, for me. Almost pretty. Almost the right dress for her. Etc. I think she can wear the color. Even with so much going on here, she could carry it off if there were just a few things less-like maybe no train, or a very short one. But definitely the metallic silver eye makeup that goes into the corners of her eyes has to go. When I see her face on, it distracts the hell out of me.

  • Crystal

Love the color, love the girl, LOATHE the netting.
