Oh my god she smiled. I think hell just froze over.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I was just going to say that! She smiled! The rest of the outfit is very “top half of a really simple wedding dress”, so it doesn’t matter. But she smiled!

      • demidaemon

I was thinking more “wedding-inspired burlesque/stripperwear” personally. It is a bit “hmm, it’s pretty, but somethinmg is not right here”, no?

  • oatmealpie

    That is some frizzy hair.

    • Louise Bryan

Perhaps the gift of a lovely comb, with instructions for use. It’s a cute enough dress, but it looks like she rolled out of bed, threw it on and caught her limo. Also not loving the bridesmaid matchy-matchy ankle breakers.

  • bertkeeter

Loose the sleeves and it MIGHT work? Oh…and that silly little bow at neck!

    • GillianHolroyd

Lose the sleeves and the bow *and* the side panels. I do like the top-stitched sheer bit around the neckline.

  • Diego!

I like it. She seems to be enjoying a lot of this red carpet since I think it’s the first time I see her laughing on it. She looks very nice even with that frizzy hair :P

    • EdithP

Yes! She’s smiling and she isn’t sporting those awful bangs. Just a little brushing of the flyaways needed.

      • Diego!

        Word! :D

    • drdarke

Isn’t there some kind of Fashion Law against A Beige Women in a Beige Dress with Beige Shoes…?

      • Diego!

I don’t know… is it? But at least her shoes are a little bit darker than her dress LOL :P

        • drdarke

          True – there’s more…lavender than beige in some shots, @diegoelunico:disqus …?

It just looks a bit too much like underwear on the red carpet to me – but not in a provocative way, more of a “Housewife’s Nightmare” kind of way.

Look, if you guys think it’s okay, then – I guess maybe I’m off-base on this one…?

  • majorbedhead

I think we should all chip in and buy the poor girl a hairbrush and a nice lip stick.

  • CPK1

yikes! those hiddy upscale bridal shoes have given me the twitching eye

  • MilaXX

Hate the shoes, like the dress. Hair/makeup just okay.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

    Oof, those hooves.

  • Jackie4g

I think the dress is delicate and pretty. Can’t say that too often of late. I don’t mind the matchy shoes, the runway pic with black shoes looks weighed down. I do think Rose needs to comb her hair, though.

  • Annarosa

    Yawning really really hard.

    Hate the shoes.

    Brush that hair, FGS!

    • siriuslover

      YES!

    • Rhonda Shore

Not just that, but is she doing her own makeup? She needs a base with a hint of green to neutralize the reddish tones…unless that’s like a junior high school application of blush…and I don’t like the dress either, it’s too tight and too…i don’t know what.

      • Annarosa

        amen

  • Janet B

The dress would look better if it weren’t quite so tight.

  • blogless

You know the weird thing? There’s all sorts of reasons I shouldn’t like this but I think she looks lovely. Except for the shoes. (And maybe hairspray down those frizzy bits.)

  • jw_ny

That is some serious JBF hair!

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

The dress is overwrought. Too many details. And she has Too Much Hair going on. A bit less volume, si vous plait.

    • ConnieBV

I think, if this was yesterday or the day before that this might be a case of girl with natural wave who didn’t prep for the crazy humidity.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Quick! Someone look for another horseman of the Apocalypse, Rose Byrne looks downright cheerful. Things are very, very wrong.

ETA – She must be so happy because regardless of this being a movie premier, she obviously just arrived from a wedding where she was a bridesmaid who just got shagged in the coat room. Not even her DTM shoes can erase the post coital glow.

  • teensmom99

The hair is wrong for the dress but I like it–it’s beach hair but cut to a reasonable length.

  • txngyrrl

She just needs a nametag on that dress to turn it straight into waitress. “Hi my name is Flo, and you can kiss my grits”. She can smile for emphasis.

  • sagecreek

Pretty — even with that stupid bow on the bodice.

  • http://www.champagnerising.com/ heather adair

you know — I sort of don’t care what she wears, or what her hair does, or how pained she generally looks when photographed: she is just SO, so, so, so, so very pretty, I put up with it all. Even watching that silly Insidious movie (because the combo of Rose and Patrick Wilson was sort of implosion-levels of good-lookingness all in one place). Total digression. She’s ever so pretty, and that dress is ever so odd…..(I’d like to snatch that bow off of the front…..a bit too twee….but then: it’s pink and swiss dot and lace, not sure taking the bow off helps all that much).

    But she’s so pretty!

    • http://www.jaimieteekell.com/ Jaimie

I agree, and I just realized why… she looks like Jane Seymour, whom I also find beautiful in an effortless, haunting way.

  • Tatiana Luján

I find the dress too twee, but she wears it so well taht I love how she looks in it.
The shoes are ugly. All satin ronded toe platform pumps should burn in hell.

    • decormaven

Bringing some matches to start the flame. Those shoes need to burn, pronto, and never be spoken of again.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

You know, I’ve hated most every incarnation of the inexplicably popular sheer/lace/solid combo that we’ve been assaulted with in the past–what? year? only 3 months but it feels like a year?–but somehow this dress is not bothering me nearly as much as I would expect. The seaming on top is a tad fussy but the whole thing sorta works. (I am a sucker for dotted swiss.) Don’t care for the dyed-to-match shoes and it looks like she took an eggbeater to her hair, but the dress…..not so bad!

    • marlie

I love the eggbeater imagery. :)

  • joancarol

Haven’t we seem this dress somewhere else?

    • Tatiana Luján

everywere else for the past 4 months.

  • marlie

Her hair looks like she just woke up from a nap. She could have used a little more contrast on her lip, too. Also the dress is pretty enough, but SO bland. And I LOATHE the shoes. This would have been the time to deploy the strappy metallic sandal.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

What’s with this designer apron thing that is showing up? Is this the couture version of the “nesting” movement?

  • MoHub

What is it with this new trend of apron-bib bodices? It’s like trying to put paper-doll clothes on a Barbie. Two-D doesn’t work on 3-D.

  • kimmeister

That is much more sideboob than I would expect from her!

  • Jessica Freeman

When will the sheer/lace/flesh colored nonsense stop? Its’ like Cerulean Blue, in the bargain bins already…it must go.

    • deliadee

I always think of that scene when I see that color blue!

  • Alex Palombo

Good to see that the stars deal with frizzy summer hair “just like us!”
A ponytail with this dress could’ve done her a world of good, but the dress is cute.

  • carnush

    Pretty.

  • stubbornthoughts

Pretty dress, though it’s far more “Ladies Who Lunch” than movie premiere.

  • conniemd

I can’t hate the dress. I was loved dotted swiss in my childhood. I had dotted swiss curtains in my bedroom. LOL I should hate it, but I think it would work on a tween or even younger and be very precious. Needs the hair up on whoever wears it.

    • guest2visits

I luv dotted swiss too. Makes me mad they ruined it with this cheesy apron-flap cutout. Still; you’re right –
this would work ok as is on a tween.(as long as the back’s not too low).

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

rip off that damn bow! there, that’s better.

  • Chuck Barthelme

Shoes are wrong. If they’d been peep toe, fine. But they look damn odd with that dress.

  • barbarienne

Things haven’t been the same down at Mel’s diner since Vera and Flo went to fashion school.

    • Not applicable

      lmao! perfect!

    • rajf

EXACTLY! All I can see is an apron. She just needs one of those little cap thingies (at a jaunty angle) and a name tag.

  • crash1212

I love everything about this look – except the shoes. I totally hate those shoes. Her hair and make-up look great.

  • Richard

The only element of this that I like is the triangle details around the neckline. It’s like the dress doesn’t know if it wants to be precious, sexy, or, edgy; It has a severe case of bipolar disorder. The lace sleeves and that color..it’s all giving me a headache. Let’s not talk about those shoes.

And your hair gay hates you. You in danger, gurl.

  • Anniebet

    I give the hair a 2. Face 8. Shoes -5 (yeah, that’s a minus five). Dress 6. Legs 10.

About the shoes – in the US there’s a hog nosed snake that has a snout just like those shoes. Eww.

  • kittenwithaquip

Illusion netting, tit bow and vagina shoes. Stoppit, Rose Byrne. Just. Staaaaahp.

  • julnyes

I want to stand outside every theater playing this movie and drop kick anyone who buys a ticket for it.

oh, her outfit – she is gorgeous and funny – this look is head to toe bad.

    • demidaemon

This is the interns at Google one, right? The trailers do make it look really stupid and not that funny. Which means my dad would love it.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I like her hair SO much better. Better color, better cut.

Again with the heavy cheeks. sheesh!
And I have no idea why this is working for me. It’s everything I hate. The lace the bow the color. But the color is wonderful on her and so is the cut.

  • ankali

Love it. Not the shoes, which should be burned (I know we’re not into copying the runway look exactly here, but the shoes on the model are just amazing and perfect), but I love everything else. Personal best for her, I think.

  • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Pretty dress, but lose the bow. It could be a tad longer.

  • Ummy

I think she looks good in the dress, but I hate the dress. The whole sheer part is just a mess. The triangle part is cool but the sleeves look like tights I had when I was 8. I also want to take scissors to the peekaboo bit at the bottom… it’s like someone couldn’t cut lining right.

I dunno. I hate the dress, but can’t deny that it fits her well.

  • bd73

pretty, but a non-platform shoe would be crisper..

  • Mona_Visa

This dress looks like a little pink apron from the front. I’d give it to an anime character.

  • The Lady

She looks better in the dress than the model, though I am not a fan of the haven’t-brushed-my-hair-in-days look. She does look a bit healthier, which also helps.

  • librarygrrl64

This is head-to-toe awful, IMO. Pretty woman, awful choices.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Maybe if the background was a darker color…
