Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014 Collection

Posted on May 30, 2013

Darlings, here’s your Pretty of the Day.

It’s the Oscar de La Renta resort 2014 collection and, as always with Oscar, “pretty” is the best possible word one can use. Also: “Feminine.” Whip out your imaginary gold card and head off to an imaginary dressing room with imaginary gays to tell you when you’re getting it wrong, darlings. Enjoy.

    Yup. Pretty!

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

All of them. I need them all. Now.

  • Fordzo

I like it! I really, really like it!

  • Pennymac

  • Sadie-Ann

    I love the first jacket.

  • TSkot

Bravo! 80 years old and still the master.

  • Latin Buddy

Hmmm…a little TOO derivative of Chanel, McQueen and even Donna Karan. Nothing here says “luxe” and gray? For resort? 🙁

    • MilaXX

I love gray mixed with brights like orange, yellow or kelly green.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

I decided a long time ago that I don’t “get” resort. None of these colors and/or styles say resort to me. Probably I just don’t go to classy enough places. (Although the red&white outfit in the third row down would make an interesting maternity look.)

  • hughman

“Real Housewives of Frieda Kahlo” is an odd choice but that old queen still has it.

  • makeityourself

It’s pretty. It’s feminine. Let’s all of us imagine Heidi in any of these looks, just to erase the searing aftereffects of the previous post.

    • Coolekat

I was afraid that was our pretty of the day

  • Synnamin

Oh wow. I love almost everything here and would happily wear any piece

  • nannypoo

There are only two outfits here that I would not cut a bitch for. I think my favorites are the first gown, the lime gown, and the blue and lime outfit. But if he invites me to wear them all I will happily agree.

  • MilaXX

Love everything except the red plaid suits. Would love to have that black dress with the flowers and sheer hem.

    • NOLA_gal

Gawd help me, it’s my favorite too!

      • MilaXX

        Great minds and all that.

      • conniemd

Me too. Loved that and the lime and blue dres.

        • Wendi126

Me too. Me too. And I also love the middle dress first row

  • MsALVA

GORG. I’d wear every single thing.

  • Lisa

Not quite sure what I think of that red plaid dress with the lace at the bottom. But in general, I love them all.

  • fairi5fair

    Really beautiful.

  • jmorino08

Why are they all styled to look like Zosia Mamet?

  • 3boysful

Cathy Cambridge needs the burgundy and white skirt and top in row 3, right. I, however, will take either of the blue and green gowns in the last row.

    • embers618

This is exactly what I thought when I saw it – that could be tailored to be a bitchin maternity dress for Cathy C!

  • Adibug

Hello? Yes I would like to trade my first born child for that top center grey kilt dress. Can you wait nine months?

  • golden_valley

It’s pretty but it looks straight from the late ’50’s and early ’60’s.

  • Uma NEEDS to wear that last one. It needs someone tall and majestic to carry it off.

  • demidaemon

This seems awfully heavy for a resort collection. I mean, they are all beautiful designs. But they seem unrealistic for summer weather. It reads as more of a Fall collection, in my opinion.

    • AmeliaEve

I agree. I love most of these looks, but gray and red tweed? Regardless of the season, those fabrics say “office” to me, not “vacation.” However, I would be much happier in my office if I were wearing that red plaid Chanel-style suit or the boat-necked gray dress with the draped skirt.

    • ToniMacAttack

We’re thinking too much like the huddled masses, kittens. The wealthy don’t put up with hot weather, they escape it by going to the Hamptons or the other side of the world, where it’s winter.

  • SewingSiren

Gimme some of that. I pretty much love it all.

  • lrhg

Hmm, I LOVE a lot of the dresses. (If I ever win the lottery I’m buying myself an Oscar dress to like vacuum in.) But I don’t like a lot of the separates. Or at least I don’t like a lot of the areas they are emphasizing- waist, hips. But I do love all the color.

  • matildarf

I would wear it and look good in it. Love.

  • PeaceBang

*happy sigh* Can’t pick a favorite. And he’s making me love pink again.

  • Trisha26

Please ship the B&W print 2nd row right & the two black dresses rows 4&5 middle immediately! Everything else is very pretty, but a little retro-y, no?

  • Aurumgirl

Sigh. In my imaginary gold card world, my imaginary gays would not be telling me when I got it wrong. They’d look at me and look at the clothes and know exactly how to make it all look right.

So many of them are perfect, anyway.

  • quiltrx

Had I the body for it, I would cut every single one of you Kittens for that dress second row, right. (reminds me a lot of that windowpane-ish grey/white Dior gown a while back)
    It’s all pretty gorgeous!

  • ankali

Oh, the cocktail dresses are so lovely! Especially the boat-necked black lace one (though something about it makes me think that someone is going to fuck it up on the RC. Someone awkward and/or lazy and/or habitually really twee).

  • Janet B

I wasn’t prepared to love so much of this; pretty and feminine is right up my ally.

  • kimiakay

I love ODLR, so I love almost all of this, except the ones that look a little like maternity tops. But even those are pretty. And the lace thing is still going around, but here it’s not too much. So I probably need 2 black cards to get what I want here.

  • Anniebet

I guess it’s unrealistic to expect that one of each of these will fit in my Christmas stocking? Seriously, this is a stellar collection, not a single dud in the bunch. Gorgeous and sensual clothing.

  • Glammie

Love the color palette. I can steal the color palette at least. (Schedules visit to local yarn store.)

I covet the second dress. No one else needs that little grey dress, right? Just leave right here. That’s right.

  • Nicole Little

Meh. I mean, wow! and super pretty and did you see the fabric treatment on the blue number?, but for Pretty of the Day, meh.

  • That pink dress at the end of row 5 screams Michelle Obama to me.. 🙂 It would be gorgeous on her.

  • I love this collection!

I was over peplums the last time they got popular. Everything in this collection is stunning–except for the peplums.

  • marlie

If only that imaginary gold card were real. I’d buy just about everything!

  • Annarosa

OMG, as an Italian I must say: love everything. EVERYTHING.

now I’m fighting with my best friend, she also wants the second one of the first row. damn copycat.

    • buffythekid

I want to wear the second one in the first row to work every single day.

      • Annarosa

I would do that even if my job was “cash machine operator” at mcdonalds.
        so stylish.

  • Annarosa

    I really want everything.

  • Annarosa

I need money. Why do I have such a stupid job?

(just kidding. I’m happy that I have a job. But I need more money to buy the whole collection)

  • hailtree

not really loving the floral prints.
Reminds me of the gingham+flower prints that was so prevalent in the 90s. ugh.

  • Vainte

A collection almost perfect for a Mad Men RC event, just working out who to put In what…

    • Annarosa

That’s the point! I love that style! So elegant and chic.

  • Contralto

Most of the shapes are appealing, but could we PLEASE stop with the sheer-skirts-over-one’s-drawers look, already?

  • Kathy_Marlow

I’ll take one of everything in my size. Honestly, that first dress and the one in the last row left needs to be on the red carpet, like NOW

  • clairellis

SOO PRETTY! I want to wear them all. Especially the first one!

  • MoHub

    Love. It. All.

  • Jessica Freeman

As with all Oscar, I’d like one of everything, please.

  • Carol

I actually gasped when I saw some of these pieces. How upset do you think the husband would be if I spent a couple month’s salary on a new wardrobe?

  • Jessica O’Connell

Oooooo. I swear, pining after clothes on this blog has drastically changed my taste in clothes so that I dress so much more “feminine” now. I think my teenage self would look at me in all of my dresses and just be utterly confused.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Ohhhh, it’s ALL pretty! That’s rare for me!

  • mjude

  • FashionShowAtLunch

I love it all, but goddammit am I done with sheer skirts. Et tu, Oscar?

  • RebeccaKW

Wow. One of the rare collections that make me want every piece. Especially that first dress.

  • tereliz

God bless Oscar for keeping the full skirt alive and beautiful. That navy trellis dress? *dies*

Is it just me or does this feel more classically OdlR than recent runway shows? I’m thinking that the lack of the hullabaloo for the in between seasons really helps keep the focus on the clothes and what the line does best, rather than the drama and desire to be unique that accompanies the spring/fall fashion weeks (months).

  • Denise Alden

Wow. I had no idea I was such an Oscar fan!

  • BarbaraAnnBruch

  • joything

The prettiest Pretty of the Day is the model in the thumbnail.

  • Qitkat

    Random thoughts:

I had a picnic table cloth like #1 once. But this is definitely prettier.

Some of these look like (cute) maternity wear.

I would beg, steal, or borrow that long blue number with the field of black flowers. LOVE!

The sleeveless black and white top with pleated skirt is so very chic.

The colors are singing to me with the final two piece dress. I could decorate a bedroom even prettier, maybe throw in the green with black floral accents from the same row.

  • anotherkate

I adore the first gown so much. Love that pattern juxtaposition. Also, I feel like Swinton could OWN the last gown.

  • Louise Bryan

Don’t know about wearing these to a resort, but I’d sure love to wear some of these to the places I actually go.

  • Esz

They’re all gorgeous but theyre very derivative of a lot of 50’s and 60’s prom dress styles. When are we ever going to see anything NEW? The New Look was new when it happened – will there be a new New Look?

  • Darren Nesbitt

    Row #7 looks like Dior-lite.
