Olivia Wilde in MaxMara

Posted on May 03, 2013

We’re probably just responding to the fact that it does amazing things for her already-amazing eyes, but we like this dress for her.

Olivia Wilde attends the Whitney Museum Annual Art Party in New York City in a Max Mara Green Print Silk Chiffon Long-Sleeved Dress paired with Stuart Weitzman ‘Latenite’ sandals, a Anya Hindmarch clutch, and House of Lavande and Iwona Ludyga Designs jewelry.

Anya Hindmarch ‘Duchess Lady’ clutch.

Hate the necklace, think the shoes could’ve been metallic, think the clutch doesn’t go and hate the green sash, but the dress itself is just right.

Isn’t that always the way with us, darlings?

We think gold and black were the way to go for the accessories, but it’s not well-deployed. Gold in the shoes and maybe the clutch, plus a black belt and suddenly the whole thing gets more dressed up. Lose the pendant; add a cocktail ring and a decently showy set of earrings. You’re welcome, Olivia.

I like that she’s back to her own hair color! Olivia, darling, you’re a brunette. Please don’t forget it again.

Her eyes really are the best bit. Excellent eye-makeup!

I love those shoes and I love them paired with this dress.
I don’t hate the green sash, but I don’t think it is the right shade of green.
Hate the necklace, love the dress.

So,so pretty. You just can’t go wrong with a lovely feminine dress in a beautiful fabric. Let the other starlets go around with their good china out, Olivia. You win this round.

I kind of like the necklace. It’s very “I’m with the band” 70s glam. Plus a touch of hardness in what is otherwise such a soft look is welcome, in my humble opinion.

Metallic shoes and toenail polish would help for sure. The black circle pendant looks like she has a gigantic security tag in the middle of her chest. But, the dress is fab.

Also not sure I love the idea of walking around holding someone’s face.

I actually rulllllly hate it. And i don’t even understand why? Yick.

There’s nothing wrong with the dress, per se. It’s just that seeing her in it, my immediate thought was “Karen Valentine! Room 222″ accompanied by an image of her with the center parted long hair.

And a dress that does that to a woman is not a good dress for her.

the name of the clutch is appropriate: Duchess lady. Lovely lady.

Love the dress and color on her (agree about the accessories) and I feel like this is really pretty but still stays true to her hipster chic style asthetic

    • VicksieDo

Oh no, grandma dress. Great color. Celebs don’t get to be that comfy!

      it’s a nice outfit..but I feel it’s too pedestrian….

    • Violina23

Adore the dress and the black shoes — hate that clutch though!

    • alyce1213

That is a lovely, easy-on-the-eyes, ladylike dress.
I’m not feeling any hate for her necklace — it’s kind of unexpected vs the soft, flowiness.
The bag — cool, but with another outfit.
The shoes are fine by me.
Olivia looks gorgeous, especially since she’s returned to brunette. She did not make a good blonde.

Pretty dress with wrong accessories. I like the bag but not with this dress

Circa 1982, but I guess I have to get used to my mother’s clothes showing up on the carpet.

A beautiful woman who slipped into a nice secretary’s dress; 1970-79. Great for the next MM decade.
I would change every accessory including the shoes. Then I would change the dress – for another.
      It’s a strangely dreary-lizardly dress.

    • Qitkat

That ought to be her signature color.

    • nannypoo

Beautiful dress. Not maybe the most current thing she could have worn, but it’s pretty and the color is great on her. I hate the shoes and necklace.

    • flamingoNW

      Do not like

    • maggiemaybe

She is just so pretty. I really don’t have anything to say beyond that…

    • SugarSnap108

I like the dress, mostly because of the color — and I always like the fact that Olivia doesn’t seem to feel the need to put the goods on display all the time. Her eyes are insanely beautiful, but her hair – my god, her hair! So limp and lifeless … Girl needs to do something with it.

    • Anniebet

Dunno. She looks like she hopped out of bed, popped in her green contacts, and did her eye makeup and totally forgot about her hair. Nice dress for a soccer mom.

    • ankali

I really like the necklace, but I will concede that it might not be the best choice for the dress, and definitely doesn’t work with the sash. Ditto on the clutch. Pretty dress, though; she does well with these disco-type looks.

    • MaryAtRealityTea

I think the dress needs to just be a bit shorter, just above the knee. And with metallic sandals and a black or gold sash. Otherwise I like it.

    • kathrineb

It’s OK really dislike the shoes.

    • Hazel Eisley

The dress looks great on her. I don’t think she accessorized well, the necklace distracts from the dress. I think she should have picked a very short necklace that was similar in shape/size to the neck of the dress and that clutch is seriously fugly.

I think in person the dress looks nice. In the photo the dress (and Olivia) looks dowdy. She is so stunning. After watching her in “The O.C.,” I would have NEVER realized how stunning she is.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I don’t think this is perfect, but I really like it. And THIS is way way to do a ’70s’ vibe without looking like a costume.

    • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

I see I’m the odd one out again: I think the clutch is cool and that this dress is the perfect background for it. Dislike the hair and green sash.

    • librarygrrl64

She does these flowy 70s-inspired dresses so well! I don’t mind the accessories (the bag is a cute nod to the event), although I agree on a gold sandal. Her hair looks awful, though. This cut/style and the light ends/two-tone trend are not her friends.

    • crash1212

I love a clutch that stares back at me. Pretty look that could’ve been prettier if only she would listen to TLo.

    • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

CUTE, but I can’t get behind that clutch.
