    • CMCH

She really nailed the “punk” theme, yes?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1110185086 Elaina M Basabe

She needs a little more steam on that dress but yes. ugh. wrinkles are a no-no

        • MoHub

The runway version is even more wrinkly.

      • aeb1986

and for all people to love dressing for a theme, heidi!! common! we’ve seen her in way more punk than this at events when it was not appropriate

        • jmorino08

          My thoughts exactly!!

          • kmc1138

Maybe this is her way of going punk? Going matronly instead? I don’t know, I got nothin’, this is pretty but so boring.

        • drdarke

          Heidi spells “punk” “K-L-U-M’, @aeb1986:disqus .

She doesn’t go to punk – punk comes to her!

      • patticake1601

To be fair 90% of the ladies weren’t “punk” either.

      • http://www.linkedin.com/pub/anne-mccandless/1a/238/38a Anne

I was about to say – When you think “punk” naturally, Marchesa is the first name in fashion that comes to mind. I was largely disappointed by most everyone’s interpretation of this with the exception of Anne Hathaway, Madonna, and Christina Ricci.

    • Sara

Wow, did she even try to adhere to the theme? Moving on…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Victor-Beiramar-Diniz/100000152390012 Victor Beiramar Diniz

      waistless (greyish…) bride, no?

      • Introspective

this does the most awful things to her figure. if this renders heidi waistless it would make mere mortals like myself look like a tent.

and for a met gala, punk theme or not, this is a fucking mess. OUT.

      • JasmineAM

I used to think it was Heidi’s clothes that were making her thickwaisted, but she’s never really had a defined waist. That’s just how her body is. She does need to wear more flattering clothes that can actually give her a defined waist.

        • Glammie

Yeah, she’s a little straight there–and after four kids, everything’s going to be a bit expanded.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000905542323 Rhonda Shore

Weird from the side. Blah in general. This was the night to show her legs!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Clearly, she was really headed to the Opera, and just popped in to get photographed. It’s a fairly restrained look for Marchesa, but correct for the event? Not even close.

    • Melizmatic

There’s nothing to see here, folks; ‘punk’ or otherwise.

      Next!

    • Sobaika

I wish it photographed as silvery/gunmetal as it appears on the runway, as it is it looks a bit bridal? At any rate, it is about as punk as Goopy.

    • http://twitter.com/nyazgirl NYAZGIRL

I think I saw this on Say Yes to the BORING Dress

    • SewingSiren

      Heidi don’t do punk.

      • kathrineb

and yet she dresses up like nobodies business when it’s Halloween.

    • another_laura

Theme? What theme? I am bigger than your theme, b*tches….

    • Angela_the_Librarian

I’m really disappointed in this. Based on her crazy Halloween costumes I had great expectations!

      • http://twitter.com/RaankyRaank Raanky

It would have been great seeing her dressed as a mythological creature or something batshit like she does on Halloween! I’m with you!

    • mozzer0906

mien tutonic titzens do not DO punk bitches

    • http://www.facebook.com/conysoledad Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

      This is so wintery.

    • http://twitter.com/Theatrechick73 Theatrechick73

Such a typical red carpet dress, not at all what one would expect to see at this event. YAWN.

    • Andrew Schroeder

      Bride-stravaganza.

    • hughman

If I had a dollar for every time she pulled up that bustier and mentioned her “sex pistols” last night.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

Not on topic, but girl’s got nice teeth!

      • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

Also off-topic, but credit where credit is due: how freakin’ refreshing is it to see LINES around her eyes and mouth? The Klumster drives me batty, but gotta love her seemingly untouched face.

      • formerlyAnon

        She’s got great bones, period.

    • MoHub

The bodice looks as if it’s trying to detach itself from her body.

    • http://www.facebook.com/NJPag Nicholas Jude Paganelli

It looks like if I pulled on the train the whole thing would unravel and she’d go spinning out like a wind up top.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

This is almost offensive in how uninteresting it is.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

At the one event when Fraulein Heidi’s penchant for over-the-top-ness would have been welcome.

        • eowyn_of_rohan

Seriously. Why show up at the freaking MET GALA in something that looks like a bridal gown from the back room at Loehmann’s?

    • Lesley

on her way to the alter she must have made a wrong turn and ended up at the Met Ball..

    • flamingoNW

Not remotely punk but I like it anyway. I didn’t like the skirt at first, but upon further review, I do. Especially from behind.

    • roble ridge

I think she got lost on her way to a movie premiere and decided to crash the Met Ball instead.

    • http://twitter.com/skitzfiggitous skitzfiggitous

lsk;jdfdfdfdfdfdfdfjlkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk… Whoa, sorry. Fell asleep on keyboard.

      • Winter_White

‘s okay. We thought you were cursing at Heidi in some regional Finnish dialect.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Heidi Klum married her bodyguard/boyfriend at the Met Gala????

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love how he’s always described as her “bodyguard/boyfriend.” I find that hilarious for some reason.

    • aeb1986

i like the bodice but the skirt is too messy looking for me

    • MilaXX

This one surprised me. Heidi seems to love Halloween so much I was sure she would go all out. I’m wondering if this new covered up Heidi is in prep for her new hosting gig. On any other occasion I’d be praising her restraint, but this time I wish she had gone a little nuts.

    • http://twitter.com/RaankyRaank Raanky

How did someone get Heidi to cover so much skin is what I want to know?
      Was Fraulein cold?

    • maygoon

      Fraulein, deine dress ist melting

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Boob wings. Man, I hate Marchesa. And for a Punk themed event? Go home, Heidi, and start over.

    • Kimbolina

Is anyone else kind of bored with all the Met Gala fashions? I mean, forget the theme cause that has basically been DOA, but just in terms of Met Gala in general? Mehh.

    • Jellybish

Fuck this shit. No one who makes such a big deal of her stupid Halloween party should blow off a theme like this.

    • jw_ny

Heidi looks gorgeous here…perhaps a tad snug at the hips? I wish she’d have saved this gown for another function tho and went with the theme. I mean come on…Heidi loves costume parties. She could have had so much fun with this one…

    • Imasewsure

I don’t get it. Boring and ugly for any RC – disappointing since this one was a potentially fun one – she of course looks pretty but so what

    • http://www.facebook.com/henry.maler Henry Maler

Goddammit, are Heidi and Seal renewing their vows again?!?!

      Oh wait…

    • alyce1213

      Heidi’s third wedding dress.

    • Maryanne525

      Bored.
ETA: If you’re queen of the short & tight dresses, why wouldn’t you deploy the shortest, tightest, bad-assist dress you have in your wardrobe?? The theme was PUNK.

    • rag254

If this were Project Runway she should have “auf”ed herself.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

For not sticking to the rules/theme? Yep.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

      So THAT’s Punk!!

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s very pretty, and downright simple for a Marchesa dress, but NOW is when she deploys the classy, ladylike elegance? NOW?! When she could go all crazy and cracktastic and no one would bat an eye? SMH. Oh, and she could use a little color on her face.

    • DeTrop

This is beautiful from head to toe but it has nothing to do with the theme of the night. She should have rocked the gala with her beauty. Badly done Heidi, badly done.

    • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

So cheesy. Come on, girl. You are the fashion insider of all fashion insiders, and you show up looking like the Long Island prom queen? Boooooooo.

    • Kikishua

Love the huge asymetrical earrings! No, wait – those are light fittings.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

Nah. I don’t respond to the “folded-like-handkerchief” train or to the peplum. I suppose the embroidery has merit, but the gown, in the aggregate, is too precious. Too affectedly dainty.

    • M. H. Leader

You know, wrinkles aside, she looks lovely in this.

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

Clearly she said “fuck you” to the theme and went with a dress that she wanted to wear. Whatever. It’s like that person at a Halloween party that would rather look cute than wear a costume. Sure you look cute, but everyone else is in an awesome costume.

    • crash1212

Beautiful. Don’t care about non-theme-ness of it. I think this is the prettiest she’s looked in a loooooong time. She’s SO beautiful and she manages to hide that fact at every turn. Well done Ms. Klum.

    • ojosazules

The draping on this dress sucks. Add the boob shelf and peplum and it looks like an arctic geological formation. Muchesa.

    • http://www.facebook.com/darva.sutra Darva Sutra

Project Runway = Wienstein Production = Harvey Weinstein/Husband of Georgina Chapman = Georgina is Marchesa’s Designer = Heidi has been told to wear this. Must be a “contractual obligation” event for Frau Klum. Too bad they couldn’t get her something more interesting. Bridal Snoozeville.

      • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

Thanks for the explain. I, too, was thinking contractual obligation (or maybe just : Free), as she also wears a lot of Kors and past season PR designers (beyond just when it was the ‘reward’ for the episode winner, I think). Not sure if she also wears more Posen now that he’s on the show.
I’ve also wondered if she dared to dress her own kids in that “Scrumptious” line she did for Babies R Us.

    • Crystal

      HATE.

    • Dam_Angel

      She looks great!

    • http://twitter.com/susanpcollier Susan Collier

Here comes the punk, all dressed in white…

    • http://twitter.com/UberChicADee Diana Giese

Do NOT like this. Makes her look thick. Marchesa did not have a good showing at the Gala this year…Ashley Greene also looked awful in Marchesa.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

“Do you see mein virginal titzen?”

    • MzzPants

      Bitch can work a lens.

    • Tuneful54

It’s a lovely dress, and I like it, but not right for the occasion or an Amazon like HK. Still, it’s a relief to not have at least some of the good china in my face, and, yes, I’m also talking about some of the other attendees.

    • http://twitter.com/nkk Nikki

      WIDE BRIDE?!?!?!

    • Rand Ortega

So when the theme is punk, she declines to dress as punk. When it’s not the theme, she occasionally makes every effort to dress as punk. So… is that type of “rebellion”… punk?

    • Qitkat

If ever I’ve seen a *stumble out of the bed morning after wearing only a satin bedsheet*, this skirt nails it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

      TOTAL WERQ! Screw PUNK!

    • http://www.facebook.com/candice.booth.79 Candice Booth

Her skin just glows and looks so creamy. Heidi herself doesn’t have a waist that is just her body so she does need clothes that give her a waste. This is Marchesa trying to do Westwood light and it doesn’t work but she is stunning.

    • titaness25

I’m just glad the Kluminator is only treating me to one of her sets of assets at a time. She looks lovely though.

    • nannypoo

You would think a person who loves costume parties as much as she does would have a punk outfit in her closet. She looks pretty and surprisingly well covered here. I like it.

    • librarygrrl64

Wow, Heidi got re-married at the Met Gala?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=559658750 Katelyn Page

is it just me, or does she have way more teeth than a normal person?

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

She’s gonna put someone’s eye out with that boob shelf.

    • bd73

another person i would have expected to fully embrace the punk theme. this is boring for heidi on any day.

    • lrober03

The theme is punk…..so show up in wedding gown?

    • demidaemon

I hated this dress when I saw a tiny thumbnail of it last night and I still hate it now. Although, I do get some giggles out of the fact that she is basically wearing an embellished Titsen dress.

    • elzatelzabelz

She’s more covered than usual. But, what is “Punk” about this wedding dress?

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

Punk to Heidi means not showing off the cooch?

    • embers618

I didn’t even notice how bland this was at first, because I was overwhelmed by the fact that Heidi’s actually wearing a dress the way the designer designed it. Too bad she chose to do it at an event where she could have gotten away with some crazy.

    • Call me Bee

So the whole of NYC fashionista is going punk, and Heidi shows up in a wedding gown. Of course.

    • formerlyAnon

The dress looks awkward – not sure if it’s design or fit, though I lean to design – but does it matter? She’s just so darn beautiful. She’ll be striking at 80 – it’s in the bones.

    • spooki C

If you show up to a punk themed event in Marchesa you should be asked to go home and change.

    • http://twitter.com/kitchenflails Cassidy Olsen

Heidi wears the most extravagent, thematic costumes for every one of her Halloween balls, but wears a silvery wedding gown on a night with a punk theme? I’m confused.

    • quiltrx

It’s a lovely gown (though I’m still not sure about the tit wings)…but not really in the spirit of the event.

    • Sara h

How in the hell is this punk? More like swan lake…

    • alebaby

      another unclassy lady….

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nicole-Walraven/527225623 Nicole Walraven

yaaaaawn. think i’ll take a nap. oh look, heidi brought a duvet cover with her. perfect.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

She looks stunning. For a change.

    • EEKstl

She looks beautiful but WTF with that dress for this venue and theme? Yawn.

    • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

Don’t like this dress on the model OR Heidi. Do like the coverage, but the fact that it makes her look dumpy may send her running back to microminies and slits up to there (& down to there). Too bad.

    • lobsterlen

      Wow Heidi got married again.

    • Kristy Evans

You know, for someone who has the most fantastic Halloween costumes, this is beyond boring.

    • frannyprof

I think she thought the theme was “poke,” because her boob-holders could seriously put out some eyes.

    • Mariah J

Pretty sad for someone who hosts a fashion competition show. This is like Prom 2003

    • http://twitter.com/MichelleRafter MichelleRafter

Leave it to Heidi to wear one of the most covered up, tasteful dresses I’ve seen her in lately to a punk ball. Where’s Disco Ball Heidi when you need her?

    • http://twitter.com/almcafee Alison McAfee

      mother of the prom queen.

    • bitterk

      The woman is consistent

    • kathrineb

      So boring and bridal !
I was going to say this look was anti-punk but that makes it sound too interesting.
      Like totally non-punk.
