Looks kind of like a Filipino terno.

    • Nicole Chubb

Haha! When you compare it to that, I actually think it’s cute. Maybe I can get one made to look like this for the next Filipino wedding I attend so my (white) husband isn’t just wearing a barong solo!

    • Looks like an homage to Imelda Marcos.

  • It doesn’t read as punk to me, but the dress is pretty, and a little different. And I kind of love her makeup. The shoes wouldn’t have been my pick, but they’re fine.

    • gabbilevy

Exactly. She found a cool dress and went with it, rather than worrying about hewing to the theme.

  • It’s either too long or too short – can’t figure out which.

    • Melanie

Based on the length on the model, I think too long, but I wouldn’t be mad if it was floor-length.

    • Molly

That was my thought: what an awkward length.

  • Tablecloth. I can’t.

    • 3boysful

      That is EXACTLY tablecloth lace.

  • KateMaryC

I was going to say “nothing says punk like white lace.” Then I saw the runway look, which would have been fantastic for this event. She looks lovely but her styling took it away from where it could have been.

    • UGH. The runway look reminds me of Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange.” WAAAY too disturbing for me.

      • Sarah

I’m pretty sure that was exactly what the model was supposed to look like – disturbing. Methinks that was to give the dress non-frou-frou-ness. I love how you said “Kubrick’s” Clockwork Orange. Is there like, a Disney Clockwork Orange? Or a Rob Reiner? That would make me feel better 😉

        • Heh, I meant Kubrick’s movie version, since there were a couple of theatrical interpretations of the book. 😛

    • formerlyAnon

Yup. Even just the runway eye make-up alone would have pushed it into the correct zone.

  • Introspective

this one makes me double take, but im not sure if that’s good or bad. some details (the eye makeup & where the hem hits her) seem like a no than a yes, but somehow, overall she paints a pretty picture.

    so i guess it works?

    • drdarke

Why, she’s just a little Kewpie Doll!

  • crash1212

Love the cat eye. That is all – oh – except Heidi preening in the background.

    • Hah! Just noticed it. It’s probably for her own portion of the step-and-repeat, but it’s funny in the background.

  • teensmom99

Fun shape but the material is wrong. Just doesn’t work in lace. But she looks great as always.

  • Qitkat

Am I wrong, or does the model look more punk? Pretty, pretty dress though, with very cool sleeves and back.

    • formerlyAnon

      I agree. On all points.

  • MilaXX

She should have copied the model’s eyes and headpiece. The look she has just looks like she’s dressed as a fairy for halloween.
Honestly I’m surprised none of the actresses except for Elle Fanning even attempted any sugarpill style eye looks. Most defaulted to some variation of overdone liner or black shadow.

    • Sarah

Speaking of copying, how creepy is it that she is mimicking the exact same pose as the model in that first pic?

  • Rand Ortega

Ok, she just turned up for a pretty party.

  • I am all for taking a prim dress and raunching it up for a punk theme, but this did not do that. Yawn.
She should have had that skirt hacked to gynecological levels, and then worn some latex or fishnet tights and beartrap shoes. And zhuzhed her hair into something more interesting, like the runway model (to echo other commenters, the runway model is more punk than Bella is here).

  • Whenever she comes up I’m like “Who is she again?” Anyway, the dress just seems very matronly to me, and the length hits very awkwardly. Also the shoes are all wrong. The eye makeup is a bit too much too.

  • hughman

    Napkin holder.

  • steeg of their own

It’s a pretty dress? I suppose? But hey, if she’s going to a Jane Austen theme party, she’d be the punkest gentlewoman in the sitting parlor!

  • where is the fucking punk???

  • another_laura

  • mjude

i think its just sad they dont know what punk is. jesus christ GOOGLE IT.

  • j_anson

It really is like EVERY STYLIST INVOLVED looked at the event theme and said, “Ehhhhhh… screw it.”

  • Valdri8

Gosh, TLo, your must be exhausted today.

Someone should have gone for the crazy bootie at this event.

  • SewingSiren

Well, part of the problem is, lenders of dresses tend to want to have the borrower of dresses model gowns from the lenders latest collections so they at least get advertising time out of the deal.

  • Shoes are all wrong.

  • Meh, for such a pretty girl all kinds of things are going wrong here. Her poor posture is looking even more horrific given the stiffness and shape of this dress, her head, somehow, looks to be photoshopped onto her neck, even though that is not possible with these kinds of pics and those shoes are just wrong.

  • Had she done her makeup like the Chanel model that would have added a little punk. She really just looks like a doll to me. I also love her eyes even though it’s not punk.

  • It’s punk by way of Baby Smiley’s chola tutorial, maybe. Punked-out quince!

  • quiltrx

Was she going for the Pretty Pretty Princess of the Met Gala title? It’s a pretty dress, but she should have had some fun with it (like the runway show) and gone a little fun/punk with it.

  • jmorino08

Looks like she was paper mache-ed into that dress? It doesn’t look like she’d even be able to sit in it!

  • msdamselfly

    She looks gorgeous

  • Pretty, unique, somewhat boring. Her makeup seems to forced with the eyes. The shoes and the hem were both TERRIBLE ideas.

  • I love everything except the shoes.

  • frannyprof

    Aurey Hepburn wannabe

  • MandyM

She looks like a little china doll. The styling on the model looks better for the event though.

  • Imasewsure

Wow that is an interesting dress but much better shorter (and at a different event please). She is so gorgeous though and I love the makeup (but again, how about a different event!)

  • l_c_ann

And in the background, we see Heidi with her dress and its boobshelf on the edge of a major titscrapancy.

  • This is only punk in the sense that she is Margaret Thatcher (minus handbag) and punks are yelling at her.

  • TheAmericaness

OH MY GOD IF I READ ONE MORE COMMENT SAYING: THIS DOESN’T LOOK PUNK TO ME I’M GOING TO GOUGE MY EYES OUT!!!!!!! Jesus tap dancing christ. Gah. Whatever. So it’s not punk to you. Or to YOU. or to that person over there. I think maybe one celeb got it. I hope they did it on purpose just to drive you all mad cause you are all driving me CRAAAZY! *pant pant pant* I know it’s a Punk event. Whatever. It could be a “show up as bland as you could possibly be” event and they’d F it up – someone on here would be: “I dunno… That pop of color isn’t really helping the whole “bland” thing”… Celebs are F ups. Ok? Sorry. I’m sorry. I really am. I didn’t take this all in small doses today.

Ok. Anyway.. I think it’s rather cute outfit and I like the cat eyes.

  • golden_valley

I have no idea who she is, but she has an awesome name. With different makeup she could be a Victorian punk. Maybe that was sort of the idea she went for.

  • altermyego

What a beautiful dress to get married in.

  • Melissa Brogan

Proportions of this dress seem really off. It’s a pretty concept though.

  • shelley514

Beautiful dress; looks like a piece of art, but . . . . It’s way too stiff, bordering on straight jacket dress. I love her eye-liner.
