Help! A pile of tacky fabric ate Ashley Greene!

  • It’s that punk-y princess everybody loves to hate!

  • oatmealpie

I rather like it. The makeup draws your attention to her lovely eyes. The hair is a bit tragic, though.

    • I love the dress, but it’s clearly wearing her. Send it off to someone who can wear it!
      Hair is a mess!

      • decormaven

Truly. That dress requires someone who’s been schooled in Master Class. She’s still in the training wheels stage.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

The dress is wearing her – yes, exactly. That’s it exactly!

        • Looks like it swallowed her whole!

  • MilaXX

  • Sarah

Hair looks like she just woke up in a tent on the off-ramp. And I’m not loving the booby-bunny-ear effect, either, but from the front, it’s not that bad, I guess?

    • drdarke

And then wore the tent to the gala, @disqus_uaAgd5XTr8:disqus !

Wow, that dress is unfortunate – it makes her look short, pudgy, and with weird breasts to boot. I don’t hate the hair like you do, but it’s still not all that good….

  • Hazel Eisley

Who wouldn’t want to pay thousands of dollars for a dress that can somehow add forty pounds to your frame?

  • teensmom99

Punk was not about nude lips. But my God, she is beautiful.

  • Diego!

Am I the only one who likes it? IN 😛

  • Oh, no, no. WAY too volumetric. Those boob protrusions! None of this works.

  • nacogdoches

She IS beautiful, and I don’t mind the hair and makeup. Neo-punks can have nude lips, just like goths can wear all pink.

But why does that dress make her look thick? She has always seemed like a tiny little pixie even by hollywood standards

  • These dresses do not compute. They’re like someone went to Nana’s estate sale and bought up all the frippery and doodads and had a gay old time.

  • hughman

You know, I can get how when you’re a B-list celeb whose claim to fame is a movie franchise everyone loved to hate and no one really knows what else you do, you’re invited to Fashion Prom and want to look glam. But some teensy little nod to the “theme” would have been nice. Anything. Pin the waist tighter with some safety pins for god’s sake.

  • Coolekat

Gorgeous on the model but awful on Ashley.

  • WIDE!

  • The applique looks really cheap and tacky.

  • This is Blair’s prom dress from Gossip Girl.

  • So, there is intricate bodice work AND corseting AND exaggerated hips but they finish it off with fabric that hangs around the body in such as way as to make her appear extra wide in the body and completely negate the hourglass giving details? Genius.

  • CaseyinNY

The pattern of the leaves branching outward actually makes her look wider than I’m sure she is. I think the difference in lighting between the runway and the red carpet doesn’t help etther, because on the runway dress you can actually tell where the model’s stomach is and where the dress poofing outward begins. All of the black on Ashley just kind of blends together to make a solid mass.

  • Winter_White

Not ‘punk aesthetic-cum-fashion’. This is an example of ‘how a modern woman can look just as burdened by her sumptuous garment as the females in Velazquez’ Las Meninas.’ Which might be the Met’s theme for NEXT year, and she jumped the gun.

  • Imasewsure

I think you have to wear it exactly like the model to make it work and even then it’s kind of a slightly unsuccessful McQueen knock off…. without that extra something…

She is so amazingly beautiful though. Love looking at her face!!

  • That dress is making her look short and thick-waisted and she has cat ear boobs. Face is lovely, but the rest is a disaster.

  • alyce1213

Artless, gaudy, unflattering. The gold appliqués are typical Marchesa crappery.

  • flamingoNW

How do you make Ashley Green look wide?

  • This is punk….how?

  • SewingSiren

    Mmmm. No.

  • Awful, just awful. Why would a young woman with those kind of looks smother herself in an embroidered trashbag. Tragic.

  • she looks like she is four hundred pounds. Just say no, to Marchesa.

  • VicD

I was so relieved this wasn’t Sandra Bullock – which was my initial thought, “Sandra Bullock looks AWFUL!” Can’t explain how 15 years younger Ashley Greene wound up looking like a crap version of Sandy B, but she did. Glad it’s not Sandy, but too bad for Ashely.

  • She is beautiful and has a slamming body but it makes her waist look bigger than it is. This is a dress only to be worn by models.

  • You’re a gorgeous woman with a perfect body and beautiful cheekbones and you say to yourself, “I want to wear something that makes me look 3 feet tall and extra wide. And then I’m going to fire my hair stylist before he’s finished.” Honey, no. Try again next year.

  • lizajane1776

I think SHE looks Punk, with that eye makeup and that attitude, but the dress overwhelms her and her styling.

  • nannypoo

If she’s pregnant then she looks great. If not, then it’s a big fat NO.

  • Blair Sylvester

Does it remind any other gossip girl fans of a sadder version of the prom dress that Blair wears in season 2? Thats what it reminds me of.

  • Once again, the most boring person to ever inexplicably inspire designers is wearing something utterly forgettable.

  • Oh great, she got a dress to go with her nose!

I would have loved to see her in punk. I think she could pull it off.

  • patticake1601

A dress for a longer torso.

  • pugluv

You know you have picked the wrong dress when it can make someone who is probably a size too look thick….

  • Monabel

    Heinous hair. Can’t look away.

  • bd73

have you ever seen anyone so pretty styled so horribly? oh wait… morena baccarin…

  • Apparently, punk= emo in a ball gown.

    Uh, no. No, it doesn’t.

  • librarygrrl64

It’s interesting, but it doesn’t do much for her. And it certainly isn’t punk, if that’s what she was going for.

  • Anniebet

You obviously have to weigh 98 pounds to have a waist in a Marchesa this season. (See Heidi Klum’s dress also.) And who the heck wants their hair to look like a cow patty?

  • Donna Tabor

    Couture punk. Glam punk.

None of that makes any sense. What a doofusy theme this was.

  • ooooooOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo…. I really like.

  • demidaemon

I don’t know what happened between the runway and red carpet, but it looks like they added forty pounds of fabric to this dress.

  • too much dress for her

  • KittyPip

she looks SO wide!! the dress reminds me of Jessica Chastain’s 2012 oscar dress.

  • formerlyAnon

    Sweet Jesus no.

You are a cute little thing and that dress makes you look stumpy and awkward from the front. I will admit the back view is effective, but you have waaaay too much to work with to settle for “effective from the back.”

  • quiltrx

That’s an incredibly beautiful gown, but not in the spirit. And I’m trying to wrap my eyes around why it makes the model look SO skinny and makes her (who certainly is not) look SO wide.

  • judybrowni

What’s with these dresses that give tiny little actresses thick waists!

  • hailtree

    most unfortunate frock.

  • Sadie-Ann

I love it from the back, but the front looks strange and wide. And boob ears are never okay.

  • It’s unflattering on her. On the model, twas awesome.

  • I love her makeup and the hair is dreadful. I like the idea of the dress but it seems like it doesn’t fit.

  • That dress is doing horrifying things to her figure. NO.

  • maggiemaybe

She’s totally getting mugged by that dress.

  • I like it better ankle length, as worn by the model. I think if Miss Greene had opted to stick with that length, she would have seemed less overwhelmed. As it is, it looks like The Dress That Ate NYC.

  • l_c_ann

Is this a warning that shelf boobs are the next bad idea?

  • EEKstl

A RIDICULOUS choice for her and the event. And not even her size! No. Just…no.

  • tereliz

She and Bey both chose dresses that wore them. Too bad. Ashley usually nails it. She should have stuck with Donna Karan.

  • Wow – she look very sad & very wide.

  • shelley514

This dress looks infinitely better on the model.

  • frannyprof

  • altermyego

It looks like her kootch sneezed.

  • kathrineb

    WOA this is not attractive!

  • Jennifer

This dress wears Ashley, and it looked better when it was made by Nina Ricci, was purple and worn by Anna Wintour’s daughter Bee a few years ago at the same event. Really, the designer gets no props for creativity.
