Julianne Moore for Madame Figaro

Posted on May 15, 2013

Sometimes, you’ve just gotta give it to the French. They’ve really got a knack for certain things; wine, cheese, looking annoyed, adultery.

Also: fashion spreads.

Julianne Moore is featured in the May 2013 issue of Madame Figaro magazine.

She is gorgeous in general, but she looks particularly fierce in black.

    • Rand Ortega

The Anne-Margaret fabulosity is killing me in the 1st 2 pics. That is an entire editorial WERQ!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Best she’s looked in ages! Wow are these great.

      • CakesOnAPlane

you werq that black, my only celebrity doppelganger I’ve been told about…

    • charlotte

Gatsby le Magnifique sounds so much more fancy.
(And she is striking as always)

    • lobsterlen

Another one who should never be allowed to dress herself. However I hate the nun dress.

      • Jill

I don’t like the nun dress, but something about her expression and pose are making it work for me here.

        • lobsterlen

I spent a lot of my formative years in Catholic school so really there is nothing she could do to get to like that dress.

      • ankali

I liked it better in Carey Mulligan’s editorial the other day. It was styled more to look stark and gorgeous than cute and retro.

    • http://twitter.com/herong Heron

She looks like she’s having fun and it makes her shine.

    • AudreysMom

still I prefer the more natural or character looks in 3, 4 and 5 over the “sucking lemons” to make me look like a model shots. LOVE this updo on her.

    • ali meowmeow

Man, that last shot especially made me want to see her in Hitchcock-esque thrillers.

      Then I remembered that horrific Psycho remake and just felt sad. ;_;

      • ankali

        That wasn’t her fault!

    • kmk05

Those Saint Laurent are to DIE for. That shot of her in the blazer and pants is divine, and made exponentially better because of her smile.

    • hughman

Every single last drop of That Jazz.

      • Introspective

was just coming here to write JAZZ HANDS bitches.

      • MikeW_Vegas

I was just coming to write Chita Rivera/Bebe Neuwirth in Chicago!

    • lobsterlen

Her legs look fantastic with panty hose on.

    • Introspective

so *loving* this. she is flawless here in a way she never is with US stylists.

Julianne time to consider being bi continental…

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Psssssttttttt….Julianne….please take note…. you look beyond fabulous, there is not a single frankendress nor bear trap shoe to be found….consider that next time you’re dressing yourself for a public event.
      Thank you.

      • VictoriaDiNardo

I know! I always wonder with celebrities; you do these shoots, you see the pictures and you look fabulous. Doesn’t something take root in you, this is what looks good on me, I should dress more like this? Christina Hendricks is another case in point. So gorgeous when styled, terrible instincts on her own. How do you detach from, well, seeing yourself? Or maybe they just see themselves differently and don’t want the styled version. They are people after all…..

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Maybe it’s part of the cost of being a better than average actress? You can be fashionable star OR you can be a sought after character actress, but not both?

    • judybrowni

Julianna Moore: the best excuse for granny panties.

    • Jean Marie Downing

willkommen bienvenue and welcome to the cabaret, bitches

      • MikeW_Vegas

Liza wishes she looked that good!

    • Lolo Andre

Holly legs woman and whoever dressed her for tonight’s premiere needs frontal lobectomy

    • eowyn_of_rohan

The Alaia is my favorite. Proof that you don’t need bells and whistles to have an immaculately crafted gown.

    • quiltrx

She looks incredible! I’ve always thought she was beautiful, but sometimes her style choices don’t show her to her best advantage. She needs to hire whoever styled her for this shoot!

    • bxbourgie

Love the first two shots. Reminds me of my long-ago days as a dancer.

    • 3boysful

It’s almost like she is much more comfortable (at least from photos) “being” a character than herself. These are gorge.

      • Qitkat

True of many creatives, I think. I actually had a professor tell me much the same thing once, when I presented a character for a speech class assignment. Best grade I received.

    • filmcricket

      One! Singular sensation!

    • Qitkat

Azzedine Alaia and Julianne Moore, a most spectacular combination. More, please.

    • http://twitter.com/kerryev kerryev

I love the side-by-side layout with the runway versions.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Julianne looks HOT. Best she’s looked in a long time. She’s really a gorgeous woman.

    • sagecreek

And thank God, they put her in hose. Look, I have the same kind of legs she does. Some of us do not look good bare-legged.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=9362159 Tracy Walker

Oh, Photoshop, why do you hate hips so? The cover body is so tragically not the body in picture 5.

    • crash1212

She should always wear her hair that way.

    • aeb1986

      god damn! girl looks GOOD

    • alyce1213

I can’t see fierce. The gaping mouth poses are totally bugging me. Her hair is fabulous, her legs are great, she looks gorgeous in black, but I just can’t with that disingenuous sexy face. She needs to keep it real.

    • Judy_S

GASP. She sure does clean up nice (when not experimenting on the RC).

    • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

A black mermaid dress? Weird but nice, especially for Julianne. And she is destined for pilgrim style, always!

    • stubbornthoughts

      Daaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyuuummmmmmm.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I find her very boring, maybe because she’s an actress who works an awful lot. I get tired of the same people every time I turn around. She always looks the same. I have to say that this spread makes her interesting.

      • fuflans

what? she works because she’s a good actress.

        • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

          I can’t argue with that.

    • joything

Hot DAWG I want those jackets!

    • Maryanne525

I am LIVING for her big hair! This editorial is fabulous.

    • Geekyfemme

Did they add extra shadows to her crotch?

    • ballerinawithagun

Yes to Anne-Margaret! She is wearing stockings! It looks so much better. That hair style is fabulous. She looks like she is really enjoying herself in that YSL suit.

    • msdamselfly

No way is she that thin–major photoshopping

    • Noelle Haland

I just love her and I do think she looks gorgeous, but two things: (1) Enough with the pouty lips in the cover shot, and (2) that pilgrim Chanel dress MUST DIE.

    • MilaXX

Da-Yum girl, you look good! Two snaps up in Z formation!

      • Not applicable

i love ur avatar btw- cracks me up every day! TY

        • MilaXX

          thanks, boo

    • Anniebet

So much shopping. That first pic? Look at the line of her left inner thigh. No way in hell. And the mermaid dress? She must be in foot high shoes. Not to mention how utterly (and unbelievably) slender she is.

No matter, she’s still gorgeous. Just don’t think these pics do her any favors by being so blatantly altered.

      • Pennymac

        Very shopped. Agreed

    • Valdri8

Sorry – they are photoshopped twenty lbs too light, and that second shot is pure Patsy Stone

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

She needs these grenouilles to style her all. the. time.

    • prettybigkitty

      J’adore.

    • kimiakay

I love this woman, but what did they do to her? She would look beautiful anyway, why did they photoshop the hell out of her? She is rocking these clothes, but the shopping is so obvious it makes you look at it, instead of focusing on Julianne and the clothes. That is just wrong. Beautiful clothes.

    • PeaceBang

The cover is to DIE. And then they took a pair of scissors to her and made her into a weird paper doll.

    • formerlyAnon

      Thumbs up.

    • ZnSD

girl, but what about her toes committing suicide in Cannes? uh mah gah.

    • xmixiex

      GURL.

    • Diego!

      This is FIERCE!!! Bitch!

    • Louise Bryan

      Bien sur!

    • Crystal

      THAT HAIR. UNF.

    • http://www.facebook.com/candice.booth.79 Candice Booth

She to me is the most flawless looking woman ever. I don’t know what it is but “it” does it. I prefer men but to be Amanda seyfried in Chloe would be beyond.

    • Not applicable

If I were a skinny ginger- THIS is what I would want to look like every.damn.day. awesome JM- got ur WERQ back!

    • librarygrrl64

Really? I think the cover looks weird. Is she sitting on the edge of a stool or something? Why are her legs together like that? It looks like a bizarre and uncomfortable pose. But the other shots are great.
