IN or OUT: Heather Graham at ‘The Hangover Part 3’ Premiere

Posted on May 29, 2013

Not gonna lie, kittens. Still kind of burnt out from that Mad Style post. We’re going to turn the bitchery over to you.

Heather Graham attends the premiere of ‘The Hangover Part 3’ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a red leather and lace dress.

Quick n’ Bitchy (the T Lo pancake mix): If there’s a woman out there who can make a pink leather dress with pink lace inserts look kind of okay, that woman is probably Heather Graham, who always did have a way of taking somewhat slutty elements and making them pretty; or at the very least, acceptable. Her makeup’s pretty but we can’t stand the hair and the shoes look like weapons.

Basically, we don’t love anything here but we can admit it’s all working better than it should.

Your turn:

Vote Now!

IN! I have my own life, and I am stronger than you know!*

OUT! Sometimes I’m cold and scared and sometimes I cry!*

Poor Emmy Rossum has been waiting forever to hear what the kittens thought of her Elvira getup. Rest easy, Ems. It was voted IN.

*For God’s sake, do a google search, you fetus.

I would like this a lot more without the lace accents and with better shoes – there’s a Felicity Shagwell thing going on here.

    • I kept thinking of that line from Austin Powers “And who knew Liberace was gay? I didn’t see that one coming” on Sunday night. Your AP reference has me laughing all over again. I loved those movies in college.

  • Jessica Freeman

OUT. It’s all tacky. Even the posing.

    • Rhonda Shore

It is, but at least she doesn’t have that crazed expression in her eyes. OUT.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

Agree! OUT ‘n Tacky (The Bitter Kitten pancake syrup that’s simply delicious on the TLo Quick ‘n Bitchy pancake mix)!

  • IN. You’re right, it shouldn’t work, but it all does. Even the relaxed hair style. It’s all very Dominatrix Ladies Who Lunch.

    • Anplica Fiore

I was on the fence, but you pulled me to the IN side at “Dominatrix Ladies Who Lunch”!

    • TheAmericaness

This comment solidifies it as an IN.

    • j_anson

I think I agree, IN. I just want to know how she got in to it – there must be a well-concealed side zipper, I guess.

    • RebeccaKW

Yes, your descriptor is perfect. I was thinking she’s always had that girl-next-door-who’s-also-naughty vibe. Yours is much better.

I also give her an In. This is her look.

    • Heather

      That’s a luncheon I want to attend.

    • AwwwTrouble

Yep, IN. How does she make this work?

  • itsnotoveryet11

I think she looks pretty good, at it feels appropriate for the film. I’d give it an IN

  • docholly

I’m so distracted by the wrinkles in the dress. I thought leather was supposed to fit. and no on the shoes. but who doesn’t love Heather Graham.

    • Yeah, but if it was too tight it would look super trashy dontcha’ think?

  • MoHub

“Leather and Lace”: Don Henley and Stevie Nicks are suing for copyright infringement.

  • gabbilevy

Surprising myself by liking most of this. Except the shoes. The shoes can go die. But Heather gets and IN.

  • In. It’s the Hangover premiere; I think her target audience will approve.

    • Exactly! That get up the other day did not say ‘Hangover III.’

    • formerlyAnon

  • hughman

SOMEONE is going as J-Lo for Halloween.

  • sleepycat

I think the sleeves look like they have been shredded by a cat. The shoes are to heavy. I like it but I am going to say it is an OUT.

  • MilaXX

OUT! The hair and face look better than it has in a while. I would even give the pink leather dress a pass but somehow the shoes ruin the entire look for me.

  • SewingSiren

She does look surprisingly good in pink leather, but It’s giving me a sweaty hot flash just to look at it.

  • beebee10

    In, with some reservations

  • whirligig7

In. I think she looks fabulous for some reason I can’t quite pinpoint.

  • thumbs down to shoes. calves-up = in.

  • Dan_In_NYC

If you described this dress to me I’m sure I would declare out before you finished, but I’m also in the camp that believe this is IN. Other shoes would help, but a leather dress has to fit just right, and this one does.

    Barbie Pink snaps.

  • Hate the length of this dress. And those strange inserts make her look like she has a awful outbreak of psoriasis. Out.

    • StellaZafella

I agree, the length could be an inch or more shorter (my preference) and the lace inserts are irrelevant… But I will always have a soft spot for Pink Leather anything since I wore a certain notorious pair of chaps to the Folsom Street Fair low these many years ago.
So this makes it, barely, an ‘in’ on principle.

      • Of COURSE you had pink leather chaps. I would expect nothing less of you, M’dear.

        • Monabel

          Pink leather chaps for everyone?

      • formerlyAnon

There are some comments which make me simply pine for photos.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

I just… I just love you, that’s all! Why you gotta make me love you even more?

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

IN. Hate the shoes, not feeling the hair, but she’s working the look like no one else.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Out! Just needs to be red and a little tighter and it could have come fresh off a music video for one of those terrible 80’s bands. :-p

  • alyce1213

OUt. The fit and cut are not good, the length is too long, It does absolutely nothing for her, and vice versa.

  • Diego!

I think my comment got deleted 🙁 IN for me! She is rocking that pink leather and at first I didn’t like the shoes, until I saw the heels and they improve! It seems she is having lots of fun!

  • H2olovngrl

I dont need to do a google search! I have that entire song memorized! I have seen Stevie Nicks and Don Henley perform it live, TOGETHER!

For the record, I think Heather looks HAWT!

  • LuisaNL

Against my better judgement, I think this dress looks really good on her! The hair is so, so but the shoes are all wrong. Still, it’s an IN for me.

  • decormaven

I could almost go there, except for the putrid pink shade of leather. The lace insets instill eye twitch. Out.

    • 3boysful

      “Take from me my lace.”

  • ccinnc

Where is she, the Arctic? It’s almost June, and she’s wearing long-sleeved leather … I’m sweating just thinking about it.

(ETA) Oh, Rio. That’s different. 🙂

  • Jangle57

My first thought was yuck followed by further stomach churning when I saw the lace insets. No, just no. Not even Heather can redeem this pepto bismol horror and don’t even get me started on the gladiator shoes…. OUT

  • Garcia Loca

IN. Because Roller Girl can do no wrong by me.

  • jw_ny

shoes are hideous, but I really like the rest on her…even her hair.

  • MartyBellerMask

    Love it. IN.

  • Poeta Paz

I like it expect the lace on the arms. I also like the hair, but the shoes noooo…

  • Katerina

    In…I like it

  • OUT. The Shoes are offensive. Pink leather dress might be OK rendered in hot pink and pasted onto Liz Hurley, but not her.

  • In. I think she looks fierce and adorable at the same time.

  • Nancer

In. She is making this work.

  • Bethany Roullett

If she had kept the posing to the look in the first photo, then I might have gone in. However, since it becomes more ‘lol look at my ass’, I’m going with an overall OUT.

  • Jenna Chapman

Yeah, the makeup alone is taking this one to IN-town for me. Everything else could go either way, but… as you said, Heather Graham can make stripper togs look innocent.

  • carnush

I love it. Great color, her makeup looks great, killer shoes. Could do without the ‘look at my ass’ posing though.

  • Ashley Ellen Wilson

Oh I LIKE this so much! I find myself, oddly, wishing *I* could wear a PINK (ick!) leather dress!

  • BeeBeauNYC

This bitch has not aged one day since Austin Powers, which was a million years ago?! She is still gorgeous – hate her!! OUT – the dress is gorgeous but it needs a belt, a better hem and better shoes.

  • majorbedhead

Oooh, no. OUT. Bad dress, horrible shoes, hideous hair and makeup. Although I do like the color. I had a leather bustier in that color, which I used to wear to the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Hahvahd Square back in the day.

  • lrober03

IN. I don’t like the design, but I think that color makes her skin look very healthy.

  • I might come around to leather ‘n’ lace but the color and the placement of the inserts just do not work for me. Out.

  • Judy_S

    Out. Ugh.

  • aeb1986

    bored. out.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

As I was scrolling through, I kept thinking, “Yep, that’s HG’s dress.” Not great, but it works for her. I don’t even mind the hair but the shoes are terrible!

  • butterflysunita

IN. Somehow this works. It helps that she color coordinated with the backdrop.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

I actually LOVE the dress. the shoes do scare me a little!

  • leftcoastpickle

    IN just because

  • In, barely. I kind of hate the shoes but the dress is working.

  • Kristobel

LOVE. Never thought I would say that about a red leather/lace dress. But damn she looks good. IN.

  • LaSylphide

Out. It would be a marginal In without the Shoes from Cellblock 8.

  • phrenk

IN. She looks great, and the shoes looking like weapons is a plus for me. The hair could be more exciting but I like everything else.

  • Lisa

I like the dress, especially the color. Hate the shoes, agree that the hair is wrong. Out, but a narrow miss.

  • Sara__B

OUT. All of it, from head to toe.

  • thecitysleeps

OUT. what the fuck are those shoes?

    • formerlyAnon

They are hideous, is what they are.

  • crash1212

OUT. Although this could’ve been in in without the lace inserts and those awful shoes. SO close.

  • ashtangajunkie

I should hate this, and I do hate the shoes with it, but IN. She looks pretty fantastic.

  • amber.

“In,” I say begrudgingly. It’s cute and I’ve seen worse from her.

  • conniemd

In. I’m impressed that there is a pink leather and lace dress that covers her up from her head to her knees without any peekaboobie lace or cut-outs.

  • Erica_Vuitton

I love it more from the front than the back but a solid IN, she is rockin this look! LOVE the hair and make up. I have to say this looks red on my screen not pink like other comments. Annnnd I’m really glad her forehead settled after looking so… refreshed the past few weeks.

  • Sunshine16

She has been looking good during this pole dancing stint, but I may be getting the faint whiff of “trying too hard”. Still, I have to give her the IN

  • All I’m getting from this is “Oops! I Did It Again.” Anyone else?

So, that’s an OUT for me.

  • In. Mostly because she hasn’t changed a bit since she played Miss Baerly on Arrested Development and it’s kind of scaring me, so she intimidated me into it. Not digging the shoes with this though. For some reason I’m seeing some type of gold strappy sandal as being the better choice.

  • Watts

It’s in the 80s temperature-wise in Rio these days. If she’s not somewhere very, very air-conditioned, the decision will be made: passed OUT from heat exhaustion. Lace can only vent so much.

  • Blergh. I love the shoes but the dress is kind of awful. Out.

  • unbornfawn

OUT. The dress should be a good start, except it fits terribly and I’m not crazy about the lace. It is styled all wrong. The shoes are fugly. She needs a slightly stronger lipstick color and the hair just too cocker spaniel. Her posing looks like a six year old pretending to be a fashion model.

  • tereliz

Leather and Lace… The fit is good, and I love the cut of the dress. It’s not giving her monoboob, and it doesn’t look painted on. But I can’t handle the inset panels. The leather on its own would have been fierce, but the added lace looks tacky and cheap. OUT.

  • It’s a tepid “in” from me. I would have preferred the dress without the lace parts. And the shoes should be burned.

  • LibrarianLizy

I was going to say in, but only as a fall/winter dress. The idea of wearing leather in the summer makes me itchy. But then I realized this was the Rio premiere, where it actually is fall. So in, for reals.

  • in for me. that is so her color, and i love the long sleeves. i’d like it a little shorter. i’m okay with the shoes, they give a little edge and keep the pink from going too sweet.

  • Tracy_Flick

What’s with the Victoria’s Secret catalog posing? Now *that’s* tacky.

  • Monabel

IN. And stand up straight and close your mouth.

  • Anniebet

In. The fit isn’t great through the midsection, but she’s making it look good. The hair is standard photo op. Nice to see her back in the spotlight.

  • trisker

Hard one. I’m feeling IN, though. Lots wrong, but she’s working that dress better than any other living human could.

  • sagecreek

Oh, it’s an IN. I hate the shoes, too, but anyone who can make that dress look good from behind gets an IN from me.

  • TAGinMO

Those shoes are criminally awful, but based on the strong work from the ankles up, she gets an IN from me.

  • prettybigkitty

IN. Not terribly offensive. I think she looks pretty. Even if it is pretty odd.

  • mjude

i have my doubts but i will give her an IN

  • MRC210

It’s leather with lace inserts. Pink leather with pink lace inserts. OUT.

  • Considering the audience, it’s an IN. She’s in Brazil! It’s perfect!

  • applepie

OUT. Huge hooker shoes were definitely not the right choice for that dress.

  • melanie0866

It looks sort of baggy, doesn’t it? I mean, it’s not awful, but it doesn’t excite me. OUT.

  • Ronica Skarphol Brownson

Pink fart vents and last week’s dominatrix shoes. OUT.

  • barbarienne

Gotta go with TLo on this: on anyone else, this would be awful, but Heather Graham has a magic that takes tacky and obvious and puts a little sugar on it. A nod of “in” from me.

  • In. I love it. I love the color on her, and mostly, she’s selling it.

  • E. D.

  • Janet B

  • PrunellaV

    Kitten with a whip. IN.

  • TSkot

    She looks hot: IN

  • IN. It’s working. Such an improvement over – and so much more ‘her’ – than that outfit the other day.

And I didnt’ have to look it up. But my darling children are angry with you because now it’s stuck in my head and coming out my mouth. You’d think they’d be happy that for once I’m not humming Edge of Seventeen.

  • I am “in like” with the dress, though I am not very fond of the color. The shoes and hair are blegh. I personally prefer black leather and an updo. Maybe then the shoes would work?

  • appliquer

  • GwenDiamonds

I think if the dress had been all leather, without those redonkulous lace inserts, it would have been easier on the eyes. But hair, shoes, silly poses, and the Sticking-Out-the-Butt thing so obtrusive it makes me want to give it a kick, I say OUT.

  • Snailstsichr

I’ve come back to this post three times trying to decide what I think. I finally decided that this is perfectly acceptable for the venue – and I give it points for being somewhat unexpected, yet not inappropriate. So an IN.
But I just hate the “show us your bum and post over your shoulder” shots. They are yucking me out.

  • Jarethee

    I think she’s gorgeous. IN.

  • Julie

  • bd73

the shoes and the dress should never have met. i can’t if she’s a femme fatale or an assassin.

  • kimiakay

I love the dress on her, I love the shoes. It’s hard to imagine pairing lace with leather, but that’s what style is about, right? I’ve been trying to think of any other color for this dress, and I just cannot picture it. She’s rockin’ it here. IN

  • formerlyAnon

Dear god OUT. She’s pretty and for all I know, this may be quite the rage in Brazil. But leave aside my reluctance to like leather clothing (except jackets & shoes) and the fact that it has lace insets and the whole thing is closer to dusty rose than to salmon or to pepto bismol pink, but nonetheless hovers uneasily neither here nor there in that color spectrum (on my monitor, anyway). Leave that aside and she’s still wearing overly heavy black sandals that look like peep-toe suede ankle boots in a dead-on front view.

P.s. “For god’s sake, do a google search, you fetus.” Y’all are going to get me inappropriately misquoting Elizabeth Barrett Browning (“How do I love thee?”, etc. etc.) if you don’t rein it in!

  • demidaemon

I am voting this OUT. The overall effect isn’t working, and none of her style choices have worked for me this entire poledance. So this is a cumulative OUT.

  • PeaceBang

All the salmon in town are swimming upstream to spawn with her.

  • Jillybean

She’s adorable and she’s workin’ it. IN.

  • DuBey2

IN. But they really should show us *more shots of this from the rear.

  • Imasewsure

Shoes are hideous but the look isn’t OUT enough for an OUT… makes it a default IN

  • Colin

  • etselec

“Hey, look at my ass! Did you see my ass? Oh, by the way, I have a PINK-LEATHER-COVERED ASS! Did you notice?” OUT.

  • Diana Giese

Odd because if I didn’t see the photos, just received a verbal description, I’d SCREAM out. However, she’s rocking it. IN.

  • MaggieMae

  • EEKstl

Ok, at first wasn’t minding it, it was working, scrolling down…down…and then…BAM! Too long and the shoes are fugly. Knees up IN, knees down, OUT!

  • Pterodactyl111

Out. I like the dress, but those shoes are just so, so wrong.

  • oohsparkley!

In. It’s an inch or two too long, but that is quibbling.

  • shelley514

Wrong shoes. But everything else is loooooookkkkkkkiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn Nice!

  • guest2visits

Actually think this works nicely for her. The fit is perfect considering most leather dresses look way too tight.
The shoes are awful. A more sophisticated heel or boot would be better.
The poses tell me she is in BRAZIL. She is half a minute from breaking into full Samba.

  • kellzzz

I’d say in just because it’s Ms. Graham, but dear god that lace is animal print. NO, even for Roller Girl.

  • maggiemaybe

Oh Roller Girl, no one works that pink leather quite like you! Not loving the shoes, though.

  • CheriCPat

    Bad hair, worse shoes. Out.

  • Louise Bryan

I’m late, I’m late…Oh my ears and whiskers, I’m late!

Well, without reading what has come before, I will vote this IN. It goes against everything I’ve always thought I believed in, but I think she looks pretty smashing, and leather and lace for The Hangover III…. Of course!

  • CatherineRhodes

  • NoGovernmentName

Chop off the sleeves, raise the hemline a few inches, and get rid of the beartrap shoes, and it would be IN. Sadly, it’s OUT.

  • lrhoff

Must she shove her backside toward the camera so much?

  • kerryev

She is the cutest but that dress doesn’t fit and the shoes are icky.
