I like it. I wish her hair was up, just so she didn’t have to keep pushing it behind her shoulders to show off the detail. I think she needs a stronger lip…and I wish for different shoes, but I can’t come up with what I would like in place of these.

  • decormaven

Those black insets in the waist are making her appear shorter than she is. Another vote for an updo so the shoulder detailing is shown to best advantage. Her happy appearance covers these minor corrections, however.

    • Isabel

And they also cause her hips look wide, wide. Without the insets and the fugly pattern at the hem, it would have been a fun dress.

      • Rhonda Shore

must be a glass half empty/half full thing here, because my impression was how tiny her waist looks! Love the model’s Dr. Seuss hairdo…

      • As a woman with wide hips, EMMY IS TINY, and her waist is tiny. I’m going to have to disagree with you here.

  • quiltrx

I just love her, so I’m always a little pro-Emmy. But I really do think she looks great here, and this lip is so much better than the harsh shades she’s been favoring.
The dress is SO cute, and bonus points for the bottom looking like a Delectable Mountains quilt (google it, I’ll wait…)!

    • quiltrx

Hunh…I just realized that what I thought was the fabric waving in the skirt is actually an inverted pleat starting in the hoo-hoo area. It’s subtle, but what an odd design element…

      • Nicole Little

Ya, thanks for pointing that out. Weeeird.

  • Monabel

Interesting, and would look much better against another background. This looks like the work of an underage Photoshopper.

  • This is not working for me.
I am aggravated by the shoulder wings, I don’t like the shape and size of the waist detail, the fit in the bust is off, I really don’t like the pattern combo and finally, her hair is looking like a Loretta Lynne wig.

    • Mismarker

Ha! At least it’s not a Crystal Gayle wig.

      • TheAmericaness

Ha! That WAS a lot of hair. Now I have “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” in my head.

    • TheAmericaness

I want to find the dress pretty, but it’s giving me a mini-seizure because I can’t rest my eyes on any one spot. Oy.

    • barbarienne

Agreed. I like the idea of the shoulder wings, but the proportion is off somehow, perhaps because the fit in the bust isn’t right.

  • She is so dang pretty.

  • Mismarker

Oh, Emmy. The top part of this dress looks like a cat’s head and the box pleat in the bottom is giving the illusion of a split skirt/cropped culotte. So…. no. Bonus points for gorgeous hair and makeup.

  • GillianHolroyd

Those black inserts are doing unflattering things to her hips, esp with that black background. Also my usual complaint about too long, too heavy-looking hair.

  • I don’t care for the shoulder detail and it’s kind of giving her a uni-boob and last but not least, it’s making her look really short somehow.

  • MilaXX

Is it me or does the bottom of this look like culottes?

    • BuffaloBarbara

I thought it was in the thumbnails.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Wow. That design with the black side panels gives her weird cartoon hips. The side panels in general give a very bizarre shape to the dress. Love the hair, though. It looks so healthy.

  • majorbedhead

The black material at the waist makes her look like she’s wearing panniers (is that what they called those things that went under skirts back in Marie Antoinette’s day?). And I agree with the box pleat making it look like culottes. Not a flattering dress. But hey, no spaniel hair, so there’s that.

  • Richard

I love this dress, but the pleat in the middle is so weird and unnecessary It makes it look like she’s wearing shorts that are coming apart along the crotch.

  • I think lighter shoes are needed for this look. Then you got this dark-to-light thing going on, and it draws your eyes across the body. Otherwise it’s a mish-mash.

  • gurl boy

Not loving the “King and I” shoulder points! There are enough details, prints, etc in this dress for three designs….way too much for one!

  • JenJW

  • Jeremiah Capacillo

I like the idea better than the execution. Her hair looks like a drugstore wig.

  • Snailstsichr

Her smile is so lovely! We don’t see it enough, so I’ll consider it a Friday treat.

  • tereliz

I love this dress but the styling is sort of bo-ring! I mean, she doesn’t need a topknot and hot pink pumps or anything, but a cute flirty updo and some metallic sandals, plus a bold lip, would have been an improvement. Also bracelets.

  • Contralto

    Ridiculously pretty girl.

  • Lisser

Hair back, different shoe, stronger lip. Then maybe.

  • Qitkat

Most unusual dress, but the illusion of a toothpick waist is oddly focus pulling and unflattering. And the stylist ought to have kept the concave skirt line of the runway look.
Minus the arms and legs of the model and you have quite the winestopper with that topknot.

  • commish24

Nol Those side cut-outs are just awful. It makes her look like a badly-trimmed paper doll. She’s so cute normally, and this makes her look ridiculous.

  • Ediths_Head

The sleeves make the model look suspended. Emmy looks better but unconvinced by her own frock. Her hair is to die though.

  • Jessica Freeman

The black panels make this dress just look…strange. I think the black backdrop is really not helping. Without those, it would have been a lovely dress.

    • conniemd

That was my first thought. Particularly with the black background it looked like someone had taken giant bites out of her sides.

  • golden_valley

That print belongs on a man’s tie.

  • I like this, but the carpeting and backdrop fight with it. Not wild about the hair, but I’m glad she didn’t got with the twisted topknot of the model look.

    • demidaemon

Really, stylists and starlets should be e-mailing event planners to know exactly what the backdrop and carpet are going to be so that they can coordinate with it. Otherwise, we have clashes in clothes and decor that may not have happened otherwise.

  • Beardslee

That dress is too much of a muchness and those black panels are awful.

I don’t know anything about this young woman, and for all I know she moonlights as a theoretical mathematician, but she always looks like rather a dim bulb to me, and I find it distracting. ,

  • NOLA_gal

I’m going to have to go with no on this one. Too much going on. Side panels, front kick pleat, funky hem pattern, dizzying (but cool) overall pattern. Nope. But the smile is lovely.

  • l_c_ann

Look at the back hemline on the model. Makes me wonder if the back is predominantly black (or something else entirely).

As said already, way too many ideas here.

  • Tatiana Luján

Those black pannels kind of ruin the dress.

  • marlie

Her hair and makeup are gorgeous. Relatively simple and clean, but classy. The dress is interesting, but I don’t particularly like it. I think I’d like it better if it didn’t have the black color-blocking on the sides of her waist.

  • crash1212

This is a great look. Interesting dress – well fitted. Gorgeous hair and make-up. Love the earrings and ring. Could’ve used a bracelet and I wish she’d done orange shoes – maybe? – just for a pop of color. Even with black shoes – nicely done!

  • Julie Chase

    Gorgeous. Her makeup is stunning.

  • Very pretty. And very different. I like it.

  • maggiemaybe

I almost like this dress. I wish they’d left off those weird black side panels, though.

  • NomadicRose

There is a giant X marking the spot over her bits. Huge. I can’t evaluate any other part of it because I’m staring at the bits. I don’t want to stare at the bits.

  • stubbornthoughts

She always looks great, but I don’t care for this dress on her. It borders on “Girl, that’s not your dress”. The bottom just doesn’t do it for me.

  • jmorino08

The bottom of the dress is giving me seizures.

  • Anniebet

Wow, that’s…different. The top half fabric is pretty. The rest is fug. She’s darling.

  • This is really cute, but I can’t get over the fact that the base pattern looks exactly like a tablecloth my mother bought recently. Sorry Emmy.

  • kimiakay

There have been quite a few dresses with these “panels” or whatever you call them, lately, and they usually are on the side, or side/front of the dresses. In this case it is so distracting it’s the first thing you see. Then you see that pattern, and as you eyes move down there is yet another pattern that is jagged no less with a pleat cleaving it down the middle. Whew! A lot going on here. Oh yeah, and the cut out at the front of the sleeves. Sorry hon, it doesn’t work.

  • E. D.

The top of this is too small.
