  • Why is she trying to look like a 12 year old in her first formal dress?

    • aeb1986

yeah, the star barrette is a little over the top twee/juvenile

  • aeb1986

She looks pretty. But how amazing would this dress be in red?? Or something bright that brought out the detailing more

  • ceceliadid

Jessica McClintock dress + Claire’s hair thingy = Blecch.

  • Sobaika

What’s with her and lint-colored clothing?

  • Patricia Gillett

When does her production of “Our Town” open?

  • kaycem

although it’s not a smash hit on her, i think the dress is a nice call-back to 20s style generally but done in a more modern, simple way. the accessories really needed to make that point, though, and one star barrette isn’t going to cut it. plus, i think that because she’s so milquetoast herself, going with a simplified nude-and-gold look with “no” makeup doesn’t really work on her. (example: she looks much better when she wears heavier makeup and striking reds or purples.)

but i do love her black heart nails. 🙂

She’s all pretty in pink, isn’t she. I like the purse and I like the top part of the dress. In fact, at first I thought it was a tunic that would look better of slim pants or something. The bottom of the dress is just off.

    • Janet B

I agree about the bottom half of the dress. She looks better up close than in full length photo.

  • Aw bless, what a sweet first communion dress.

  • sagecreek

    Emma, honey, wash your hair!

  • eowyn_of_rohan

    So much beige.

  • DinaSews

The only possible reason this could be a Whiteboard post is because TLo didn’t have enough hours left in the day to list everything wrong with this look.

  • Imasewsure

She looks like a regular person at a fancy wedding…. cute but bland…

    • 3boysful

  • I am sure the tag says “Homemade by Jan in 1982.” If not, the ribbon sure says it.

  • She looks like a ghost. A very light pink one.

  • How boring.

  • jetpackdino

ZZZzzzz. Fashion anesthesia. That dress is so boring I fell asleep before I could look at all the pics.

  • MilaXX

to quote the Fashion Queens “she looks like a band aide”

  • MEH.

  • crash1212

GAH! Hate. It. All. Tip of head to toe of shoe (even though we can’t see them…you just know they’re as awful as the rest of this Beige-Fest)…BLECH. Also…BLAH.

  • So because she doesn’t dress like a hooker, she looks like a 12-year-old?

    • Ummmmmm, no. Its the combination of a blush pink dress, and the rather juvenile looking barrette that takes in that direction for me.

    • lbl

      That escalated quickly

    • anneland

More like 1979 prom to me.

  • Snailstsichr

Whenever i see the name Emma, I’m always a little disappointed that it is Roberts and not Watson. But I’m usually thankful Watson is not wearing whatever Roberts turns up wearing. And no more so than with this sad outfit.

    • TheAmericaness

I’m always grateful it’s Emma and not Eric.

      • Snailstsichr

        Good point!

  • LaSylphide

I keep thinking how pretty that dress might be in a rich emerald or sapphire…

    • conniemd

That was my thought. The pale color makes it look bridesmaidy.

  • This would be a beautiful mini dress…

  • I apologize if I am about to duplicate a comment, but all I am seeing is Little House on the Prairie Prom. Now on to see what the other BKs think…

  • Brides Maid alert!

  • Stubenville

  • It’s her holy communion dress! And she’s attempting to reuse this dress in her 8th grade school play where she plays a virgin angel.

  • This is pretty good for her. I like it minus the clip. Love the hair color, blonde is too harsh on her. I wonder if its for her new role or if she was just tired of blonde.

  • Kenisha Hill Phillips

Bridesmaid by way of Maid Marion…

  • atelier482 .

I actually think that the whole look is very pretty (despite being so washed out). The star hairpin (I guess?) is very appropriate.

  • Is the Met Ball not enough? There needs to be a pre-ball movie?

Anyhoo – the nod to Gatsby isn’t entirely successful, I think she looks more vaguely-30s than vaguely-20s.

  • Calls back to the era without being a costume… but the colour (or lack thereof) ruins the entire thing.

  • Pretty, but WAY too washed out.

  • eight_of_nine

Everyone wants to seem so cool and hate on everything. She looks gorgeous and the outfit brings the 20s to mind. If she wore this to an awards show it would be underwhelming, but this is the right occasion for it.

  • Kirsten Kirsten

That’s a really pretty dress, but: beige much? At pop of stronger colour, like a deep rose clutch, would really lift this overall look.

  • demidaemon

Ugh, this color. It looks like it is melting into her skin, which is too bad, as this dress has some interesting details.

  • rebornalicious

  • Kristy Evans

It’s sweet, but a little colorless. Very “art chick at prom” thing going on.

  • calbear97

Late to this party but I’m glad we don’t have a close up of the nails. Because I’m sure I wouldn’t like them! The dress is fine, she looks fine, not at all exciting.
