Cover Girl: Kelly Osbourne for Cosmopolitan

Posted on May 29, 2013

Miss Kelly works within her wheelhouse by TURNING UP THE HEAT! for Cosmo:

Kelly Osbourne covers the July 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine photographed by Matthias Vriens-McGrath.

Could there possibly be a more Kelly O kind of outfit? Very cute, though.

Inside, she shoots her mouth off, Kelly O-style:

On her future goals: “Happiness and a Golden Globe. What? I’m fabulous. I need a Golden Globe. What is life if you’re not going to live it to the fullest? People think this is my 15 minutes. Fuck you. I’ve got an hour.”

On her father’s addictions: “I love and respect that he’s honest enough to say, ‘Yes, I did this. It was my fault.’ He’s a real man. Most people would hide, and he doesn’t. It doesn’t make me love him any less. It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now. And my mother does too. We had a TV show about this. Now people are trying to act like it’s a new story. It made me break down and cry when my parents rather than the Boston Marathon were on the cover of the British newspapers. People lost their children from a terrorist attack, and that’s superseded by this bullshit story that is not even real.”

On her confrontation with Lady Gaga: “I loved Lady Gaga. I totally believed in everything she stood for, until I realized she’s a great big hypocrite. Don’t say, ‘When you see bullying, intervene,’ while letting your fans send me death threats. If my fans did that, I would not stand for it. You can say whatever you want with your millions of monsters. I know the truth. You bells and whistles mean nothing to me. You’re feeding on the freaks and geeks to further your career? Do you really care about the gay community? Because if you did, you’d stand up for it more than you do.”

Yikes. In the immortal words of Mrs. Garrett, “Girls! Girls! You’re both pretty!” There’s no need to fight over the affections of the gays. The gays are large. They contain multitudes. There are enough us to go around so every attention whore with fucked up hair can have a gaggle of them! Hooray!

Now go work that “tits, tats, n’ giggles” look you love to work, Miss Kelly.

I’m not a fan of hers. I hate the clothes, and I think the cover shot is really unflattering.

      • JosephLamour

I’m pretty certain you didn’t need to say you weren’t a fan of hers from the following two statements. LOL

        • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Technically, I could still like her, and just not like this particular photoshoot. ;)

    • RedRaven617

I think she looks really cute. What happened with her and Gaga?

      • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

On Fashion Police, Kelly said something about Gaga’s weight. Don’t remember exactly what, but she mentioned she had gained weight and asked if she could be pregnant. Gaga didn’t take it well and started tweeting against Kelly and the show, while her fans got very angry and started attacking her as well. Even Sharon Osbourne made a statement against Gaga as her daughter’s manager.

Long story short: high school drama.

        • Sobaika

I thought that happened with Aguilera?

          • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Aguilera story began when she was still a teenager and she was on the family’s reality show. I never watched it, but, according to Kelly, she was very mean to her at that time when she was more chubby.

For the record: it’s not that I follow every single one of Kelly’s steps, it’s just that I watch a lot Fashion Police u.u

            • alyce1213

Christina called her fat, Kelly says.

            • Sobaika

Yeah, but then Kelly made fun of her on the Fashion Police too. Is that her bully pulpit?

            • alyce1213

The story — according to Kelly– is that when she was an overweight teenager doing the Osbourne reality show, Christina made fun of her for being fat. So yes, maybe she uses FP as a “bully” pulpit for retaliation. There’s bad blood that goes back several years, so the story goes.

    • Paigealicious

Is that an earring in the last picture? With all the arrows? Cuz if it is, I need it.

Also wish that 2 of 3 pictures weren’t her in the same pose.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

      Never looked better.

    • sugarkane105

What on EARTH would Kelly Osbourne get a Golden Globe for?

      • http://myriameron.blogspot.com/ Heron

        The Osbournes.

        That was some stellar acting.

        • MilaXX

No there was a teens in school sitcom that was short lived. She actually wasn’t half bad in it.

      • Adrianna Grężak

That reminds me, she did act in some unknown TV show about ten years ago. Maybe that’s still a dream of hers

      • RebeccaKW

        For being fabulous, apparently.

I honestly don’t know if she can/can’t act, but I kind of love that she wants an award for being fab.

        • NYCGlamourpuss

I think there should be an award for being fab – how fun would that be? She really could be the first recipient of that one!

          • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

            Over RuPaul’s dead body

            • NYCGlamourpuss

Aaaackk!! True, true! I’m sorry! I take it back, I take it back! (You don’t think Ru heard what I said, do you? Cover for me!)

      • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Whether or not she deserves one, she can still want one.

        • sugarkane105

Oh, for sure. I mean, I want one too. It just seems strange to tell Cosmo you “need” a Golden Globe when you haven’t really displayed any talent that would be recognized by one.

      • formerlyAnon

I wouldn’t dismiss it. She’s young, and if she really wants it, I think she’s got the work ethic, the determination (and the connections, I presume) to learn enough to take advantage of the right vehicle at the right time to achieve beyond where her innate talent (which might be substantial, I don’t have any idea) could be expected to take her.

Or, more simply: Having watched a couple of episodes of The Osbournes, did you think she’d be an established commentator on a popular fashion gossip show?

    • Sobaika

The cover is giving me a migraine. Good lord, that is a fuckton of competing Pepto Bismal colors.

      • MoHub

I have more trouble with the lockjaw grin. Makes my face hurt.

    • Trisha26

Can’t stand the sight of her, another wannabe “name” famous for being the scion of someone sorta famous. And what celeb has control over what their fans do?

      • filmcricket

I have nothing to say for or against Kelly, but Ozzy Osbourne is not “sorta famous.” He helped invent a genre of music. From what little I saw of it the reality show was painful and sad, but that doesn’t change the fact that Black Sabbath was a pioneering band.

And thus ends the surreal part of my day where I’m defending Ozzy Osbourne.

        • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Actually I thought the show was kind of touching and pro-family, in a lot of ways. A family of freaks, but I always got the sense there was love there.

          • formerlyAnon

I agree. I think Sharon Osbourne had kids with Ozzy Osbourne intending to make a family and hold that family together with endless energy and love, or with barbed wire, grim determination and white knuckles if that’s what it took. And she did.

        • janegray

I think, at bottom, Ozzy is a decent sort of guy. Yeah, he’s an addict, but I know a lot of addicts who are decent people who’ve made bad choices and are trying to live with them.

      • janegray

I don’t know that a celeb can control their fans, but were I famous and it got back to me that my fans were tweeting death threats at people I’d ask them to stop. Whether they do or not is up to them, but I would feel responsible for trying to mitigate things done on my name or on my behalf.

        • NYCGlamourpuss

I agree 100%. We saw that going on this past season of RPDR – we lost count of the number of times Jinkx had to go on Twitter and Facebook and ask her fans to knock off the death threats aimed at Roxxxy and Sharon. I think a certain level of responsibility goes (or should go) with being in the limelight, for however long. If I were famous, and my fans were behaving that way, I’d absolutely let them know that it’s not cool.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

But I don’t really think she is famous just because she’s Ozzy’s kid. Sure, that’s how we got to know her, and I’m sure it’s opened plenty of doors for her. But she really does have a great fashion sense, and that sense has lead to a career all her own. I think that however she initially got there, she’s done very well for herself.

    • jw_ny

I’m more interested in ‘weird stuff guys think about during sex’ than I am with Kelly. I’m bored with her clown schtick.

      • lobsterlen

And why would sex tricks be seasonal?

        • janegray

Because the editors at Cosmo are trying to see how how weird they can get with their sex tips before people start writing to ask why they consume so much mescaline.

          • lobsterlen

Every once in awhile Cosmo lures me in with their titles. Then you read it and its something dumb and obvious like having sex in a pool when its warm out.

            • TheDivineMissAnn

LOL At least you can see the titles. In my state, stores are required to put a piece of cardboard over the cover. (Yes, it’s the South.) All you can see is the name of the magazine. Which is an interesting twist because Helen Gurley Brown was born and raised (and buried?) in my state.

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

      Also, 2 poses in 3 pictures…

      • jw_ny

also to mention, 2 outfits in 3 pictures…

      • alyce1213

Editor’s choice. They prolly had hundreds to choose from.

    • lobsterlen

Kelly is feuding with Lady GAGA and Christine Aguilera? It seems Kelly has issues with female singers.

      • alyce1213

Apparently Christina called Kelly Osbourne fat and was mean to her when she was a teen, and that’s why she doesn’t like her.

        • MilaXX

To be honest Xtina was nasty to Kelly back in the day and called her fat on more than one occasion.

          • lobsterlen

I could be totally wrong about this and I sure the bitter kittens in the know will correct me but I don’t recall Christina or Lady GAGA feuding with anyone but Kelly Osbourne. I recall Kelly saying something about Lady Gaga before the she is fat and pregnant thing. I am sure they are all divas except only 2 are actual real life divas the other one is on a fashion show.

*edit LOL ….I can’t believe I have a opinion about the Xtina, Lady GAGA, Kelly Osbourne feud. My dog is sick and I guess I need a distraction.

            • MilaXX

I think Xtina was quite the beyotch back in the day. I vaguely recall her having nasty things to say about Britney as well. The Gaga thing, I don’t know too much about. I agree with the poster who said Kelly was her biggest defender on Fashion Police. However ‘stans are a loopy bunch and even if Gaga had tweeted for them to be calm, I doubt it would have made a difference.

            • alyce1213

I hope your dog gets well soon (I know the worry of that, for sure), and that we all forget about this Kelly-GaGa-Xtina silliness, which it is in the grand scheme of things.

            • Guest

Thank you for the well wishes.

            • formerlyAnon

Hope the dog gets better, and soon. (And if we were above having opinions about things of questionable gravitas and importance to society, I don’t think we’d be fans of a blog about celebrity fashion, t.v. and pop culture. ;-D )

            • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I hope your dog is feeling better.

Just discussing the “feuds” keeps them going. I watch Fashion Police. Kelly is the Pollyanna of the show. She is frank and opinionated but sugary sweet. The interviewer probably brought up old stuff and is now keeping them current. BTW, I’m as guilty as anyone, in case I sounded like a smart ass.

            • lobsterlen

Thank you all for the well wishes!

            • NYCGlamourpuss

Yes, I hope your dog is better soon, too! Poor fur kid!

        • Susan Collier

And then Kelly called Gaga fat/pregnant? By the transitive use of equality, can’t we just take Kelly out of the equation and have Xtina call Gaga fat?
Sigh. I’ve always sucked at math.

          • Guest

            = show business drama-stupidity.

            • decormaven

And lots of drah-mah to fuel the Twitter accounts. Manufactured to the hilt.

          • alyce1213

            Simple: f(x + y) x 5x + 7y (3xy) – (x + y) = show biz drama-stupidity.

            • Guest

              Really?

      • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

She doesn’t want to share her gays, it seems.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aboutelle Ashleigh Boutelle

She looks GREAT. No maxillofacial procedures necessary.

      Disgusting remarks.

    • NOLA_gal

What a beautiful smile. And I want her lipstick…

    • JP

It’s very Kelly. Someone else could wear this and get picked apart, but on Kelly it works.

As for the Gaga thing, not that I *want* to pick sides like a high schooler, but Kelly is right that Gaga preaches all about tolerance…as long as it doesn’t involve hurting her wittle feewings. Her fanbase went apeshit on Kelly, when Kelly is mostly the only host of Fashion Police who defends and likes Gaga’s outfits. While no one can really be responsible for the behavior of their fans, they could at least speak out and say “Hey, you, it’s great that you like me, but stop that.” (I saw a similar situation unfold in the book world this week over an online poll pitting 2 authors’ characters against each other; the losing author’s fans proceeded to behave badly and the losing author took to their blog to tell them “I love how you’re so devoted to my work, but knock it off.” Whether the fans knock it off or not, that author has my respect).

Hey, who put this soapbox under my feet? ;-)

      • DuBey2

Please: name the author? That is impressive and I’d like to read his/her work.

        • JP

Ilona Andrews was the one who straightened out her/his (husband-and-wife writing team) fans. The two series they write are contemporary fantasy — Kate Daniels and The Edge series. Both excellent; I’ve never rated any of their books less than a 4/5 stars. The other author they were up against in the contest was Darynda Jones — her Charley Davidson series is pretty awesome too.

(Sorry for the long response gap — stupid work keeping me from playing on teh internets!)

          • DuBey2

Thank you JP. I’m not into contemporary fantasy, but there’s always a first time!

      • LauraWL

Co-signed. I’ve seen famous authors syc their fans on businesses that they felt had treated them badly via social media. It’s just despicable.

    • etselec

“ARE YOU TOO SELF-OBSESSED?” You’re buying Cosmo. QED.

    • TheAmericaness

      Oh the drama! Very cute.

    • Susan Collier

Very early-’80s Madonna look, which I happen to love.

An hour of fame? Doubt that anyone’s gotten that except Princess Di and Elizabeth Taylor. Harumph. These kids…

    • MilaXX

Love how they color coordinated the spread to match her hair. As for what she has to say, I tend to ignore that. She always comes off a bit full of BS to me. Just like she looks at her earlier days and goes “what was I thinking?” I’m sure she’ll look back on these years and realize what an obnoxious brat she sometimes comes off as. Regardless I find her amusing.

    • tereliz

Glad to see her hair looking well-suited to the outfits and not clashing with the layout colors. These outfits are all very her, very fun and bubblegum-y, but I would really love to see the ‘do in another color for a change.

    • Introspective

hate the pics, as the styling seems uninspired, but her face & bod look good… and i do love the honesty of her answers.

as much as i thought she was entitled and her landing that fashion police gig reeked of nepotism… she does seem to have cultivated a smart approach to fashion on the show. she really has grown into knowing fashion and what works on different body types.

    • quiltrx

Really cute pictures, very ‘her’ instead of trying to go against her image.

    • Sheneve Butler

I can see Sharon in the last pic.

    • crash1212

There’s gonna be a “Devil Wears Prada” sequel? Who knew?? Oh..right…carry on Kelly.

      • DuBey2

        This!

    • MissAmynae

      Love. Huh.

    • http://thatswhatthemoneyisfor.wordpress.com/ lizlemonglasses

That hair color… I just *hate* it.

    • Nonmercisansfacon

Please go away, you talentless idiot.

    • nannypoo

I kinda can’t stand her so I admit I’m not the best judge of her talent, but what would she win a Golden Globe for?

      • Howard Sturrup

Sure she could win a Golden Globe if they had a nepotism category.

    • formerlyAnon

I admire how she works what she’s got. I attribute that to her mama’s home training. (I am not sure if I admire Sharon Osbourne’s cast iron determination & ability to set goals and meet them more or less than I am sure that it would be absolutely terrifying to work for her.)

Doesn’t hurt that I think the cotton candy color palette hair works for Kelly way better than it should.

    • silaria

The clothes are cute and all, but that smile is killer! Lovely.

    • Sweetpea176

I think she’s got an appeal almost in spite of myself.

    • LusciousJones88

“The gays are large they contain multitudes!” Is that Whitman? Thoureau? You guys…

    • PeaceBang

The Power of Nepotism. Let me know when her hour is up. She can wear clothes. That’s her one talent.

    • DuBey2

Definitely her wheelhouse and the whole editorial screams “Fun!!”

    • Anniebet

She’s a breath of fresh air, to use an overused cliche. I adore the hair color, the attitude, and the fact that she’s a shorty and looks amazing in the clothes she chooses. She’s styled with exuberance and wit here. I love the swan that she’s turned into.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

      Super cute. Sexy. Not slutty.

    • Howard Sturrup

She is hella annoying!!!. People who want to be famous but have no talent are the worst kind of people, they are a waste of everyone’s time.

    • carnush

I think she looks really cute.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I love her. Love her love her love her, love this look, love the hair, the makeup, love the interview, love her.

    • Pterodactyl111

I think everyone on the cover of Cosmo should smile like that. It just seems very fitting.

    • guest2visits

Cute Cosmo-type cover. She definitely has a pretty face and figure. Never liked the tats.

I really like the polka-dot blouse and blue skirt (when she’s not showing off the boobies).

    • miagain

” People think this is my 15 minutes. Fuck you. I’ve got an hour.”

      What a great quote….

    • save_the_hobbit

I’ve always liked her, she’s never been afraid to be herself and call out people on their bullshit. Plus I love her freaking hair, I want mine pastel purple so bad (but I’ve bleached it too many times, don’t wanna go there again). And I love her tattoos!
