Chris Pine in Ralph Lauren

Posted on May 03, 2013

It has shaken out, after our mumbling, heavy-lidded, cat-infested 7 am editorial meeting, that the topics du jour Chez T Lo will be quite sausage-heavy today. Lots of boys on the roster. It’s XY Friday, darlings.

Hit it, Chris:

Chris Pine attends the UK premiere of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ in London in Ralph Lauren.

Ralph Lauren Spring 2013 Collection

Whoever’s dressing him sure knows how to play up those baby blues without being obvious about it. Nice to see he heeded our advice about not over-deploying the tweed. It’s a great suit, but we’re not in love with the fit. It’s too tight in the vest and that hem’s a bit longer than we’d like. Still, he looks great, as usual. Can’t hate on a man with a purple polka dot pocket square.

We continue to seethe with jealousy over his hair, which is magnificent.

  • The gray in the temples and beard is making me swoony…

    • mshesterp

I dated someone who had salt and pepper hair (which he really didn’t like), and he just couldn’t understand why I thought it was so dreamy. A man of a certain age with a little gray is so…*sigh* Chris Pine is seriously working that head of hair.

    • jetpackdino

Swooning here too for the same reason. Kinda took me by surprise, but… I love it.

    • drdarke

That look could make a straight guy gay.

Normally, I’m indifferent to Chris Pine – but yeah, that look is awesome.

    • RebeccaKW

Yes, I keep scrolling back to that closeup. Man, that touch of gray is so hot. Seriously, I’m tingly.

  • formerlyAnon

If someone shows up at your event looking like this, in my universe you contemplate sending him an engraved thank-you note for single-handedly raising the tone.

Beards are not my thing, but he should be giving tutorials to all the neck-bearded, hovering between stubble and beard, red carpet amateurs out there.

    • Candigirl1968

Yes. This is what making the effort looks like. I wish more folks got the memo.

    • Beards aren’t usually my thing either, but in Chris’ case, I can certainly make an exception.

  • not_Bridget

Aah, sausage for breakfast! Chris Pine sure knows when to use his “casual California guy” image–and when to discard it….

  • SewingSiren

Is this Kirk? I wonder if he reads – his – lines – like – Williamshatner.

    • (snorting coffee through nose)

    • Nicholas

Reminds me of Nic Cage doing an Adam West impression in Kick-Ass—and it’s amazing.

    • TropiCarla

This is Kirk. He plays it very well – not in the least like Shatner.
I love me some Star Trek, from classic to modern, but there’s no denying that Shatner played Kirk like a caricature – which was not inappropriate for that period of television.

The reboot is worthwhile – even for non-Trekkies. Among other things, casting Quinto as Spok was genius.

      • fursa_saida

I thought all of them were brilliantly cast. Simon Pegg as Scotty really takes the cake.

    • TheAmericaness

Yeah. They chose Abrams also because he had never seen Star Trek so the characters embody the 60’s versions, but are not cookie cutter versions of them. Spock’s human side is far more dominant for example, Checkov has curly hair and has a much harder time speaking through his accent, Sulu is obviously Korean, that sort of thing – I mean it’s an alternate universe anyway which I LOVE. Some people hate it, which is understandable. You either want the familiar universe that you know and love and can determine if the new movie is putting everything in the right place, or you can love that it’s an alternate reality where you can sit back and relax and have familiar characters but in a fresh and new place that is familiar but very unfamiliar at the same time. I’m for the latter. I know the ST Universe too well. I need to nerd out in a new one. 😀

  • He looks amazing, and given this is a guy who can be known for absolute -lack- of effort when he’s trying to hide, it’s applause worthy. It’s also totally drool worthy too and hits all the kinks. Fab way to start Friday.

  • Deac82

Loving the nubby texture of that tie. He also looks like one of those Hollywood Actors who would be shockingly thin in real life but looks attractively broad in pictures.

  • Only quibbles? The vest looks a skosh too tight, and those pants need hemming. Otherwise, a damned fine effort on a damned fine looking man.

    • Melanie

Look how tight the vest is on the model – at least he didn’t go *that* tight!

      • That’s what I just commented! And if it’s right on the model, it’ll be right on the celeb

    • It seems that over-tight men’s clothes are the thing nowadays. I wonder if any of the guy-stars can breathe during premiers.

      • I appreciate trimly cut clothes as well as the next guy. Especially on someone as dreamy as Le Pine. But when clothes are pulling and gaping because of it? NO I say, a thousand times no. Rather he would take them all off. Hey, now THERE’S an idea.

        • SRQkitten

Will join in the chorus on that one! Seeing the buttons pull on the models vest is not, IMO, a flattering fit. Don’t care what the trends are.

      • BeeBeauNYC

Corsets for men will be next!

        • zuzu

And now we come Full Shatner.

        • formerlyAnon

          Don’t think a few of ’em aren’t wearing them . . .

  • The vest looks too tight on the model as well.
I wait patiently for the Cumberbatch.

  • carnush

The pocket square makes my day. He looks fantastic, and best of all, he doesn’t have his hands in his pockets!

  • Did he have his jacket let out or something? He looks like a bit of a tall rectangular box… Though I’m totally still into this box… it’s still a point to considered. If you look at the model you’ll see what i mean where under the arm the jacket sort of tapers to the waist.

  • FrigidDiva

Very sexy professor. Thank you for putting that delightful little daydream in my head this morning. My workday just got exponentially better.

  • In_Stitches

That jacket on him is perfection. It’s snug without pulling, the low stance on the buttons elongates his torso and the width of the tie, lapel and collar gives his chest a sense of strength.

  • I think he looks really good. I love the clean trimmed beard.

Sausage heavy. You are my heros.

  • The perfect length of his jacket hems balances the over-long trousers. And beautifully groomed beard! He looks so good but I fear we are over-praising him just because so many other men are half-arsed. Wearing a nice suit and trimming the beard is kind of the least the boys should do.

  • Meg0GayGuys6

Hot damn he looks gooooood. Love the salt and pepper in his beard.

  • jw_ny

never really thought one way or the other about Chris, but dang if he isn’t starting to grow on me. He looks mighty fine here. 😉

…and bring on the sausages, boys! I’m hungry…XD

    • conniemd

Same here. I could have me some more Chris Pine in my life.

  • jilly_d

    OOOF. Magnificent, indeed.

  • newleaf1

Wow. This guy is bee-you-tee-ful. As far I’m concerned, he could just stand in my house and not say anything, so I could just look at him. Oh yeah, suit is pretty nice too.

  • and he opened the second button, just like you asked him to! Still, I’d like to see him dress a tad edgier…he doesn’t work for a bank, after all.

  • thecitysleeps

He’s so gorgeous. That suit suits him perfectly for me. Love his pocket square, hee!

  • I’m entirely indifferent to him – it’s not that I think he’s unattractive, I just find him a bit like a nice piece of art that I’ve had hanging up too long, nice to look at when I do, but not interesting enough to catch my attention very often – but I’m very amused by how disinterested the people in the background seem to be. I wonder who is off to his right that everyone in the first photo is looking at so intently.

  • SugarSnap108

He looks great. The fit isn’t perfect, no, but he looks a lot better than the model fit-wise, and by not (I assume) going sans socks.

  • Why is the waistcoat so tight on the model?

  • ovarB

If meat is on the menu today then I’m on the Atkins Diet!! Lawdy!!! I just need a cup of java to sip as I slowly scroll up and down the page as I consume my breakfast of Chris Pine. He looks delish with a side of “honey, put the do not disturb sign out.”

  • THAT MAN. HE is magnificent. What a picture of masculine perfection 🙂

  • ItsDicey

Yay for sausage Friday! Er, I mean XY Friday. This does look great, but I’ve noticed his jackets tend to be a skosh tight. Still yummy.

    • MilaXX

ya’ know I could get behind *ahem* every Friday being XY day.

      • formerlyAnon

        From your mouth . . .

  • eowyn_of_rohan

This is how it’s done. I like starting my morning with sausage. A little bangers and mash, if you will.

  • Kristy Evans

    Damn he looks good.

  • d4divine

He looks great, but my eyes immediately went to the hem.

  • zenobar

God love a man in a three-piece suit.

  • PastryGoddess

    Le sigh…

  • Nicole Chubb

I just saw Iron Man last night (the “midnight” premiere at 9pm… I can’t hang). Anyway, between RDJ, Spock, Benedict Cumberbach AND now Chris Pine on my list, my ovaries may explode by the end of the summer!!! SQUEEEE (If you couldn’t tell, Iron Man was awesome!)

  • Sandra Vahtel

  • Is it me or is the vest way too tight on the model as well?

  • Judy_S

    Good morning, and thank you.

  • To be fair, it looks quite tight on the model as well.

  • Le sigh. He does look pretty fantastic.

  • Kenisha Hill Phillips

Chris Pine has helped me realize my love for suit vests.

  • Oh, he looks like the sun’s in his eyes. Little squinty. Here, let’s soothe you with essential oils that I’ll delicately massage into your temples.

  • Handsome dude who isn’t afraid to dress up. Gotta love it!

  • Nikko Viquiera

Clothes? What clothes? But seriously, how adorable is this man? He waves awkwardly at people, then he takes cellphone pictures of his fans?? Add the fact that he’s always smiling and you have a very sexy man.

  • RinPauler

I’ll give this a WERQ despite the hem length. And holy crap, ever since reading TLo, every time I look at someone wearing a suit, I immediately look at their pants and judge them if they’re not hemmed.

  • MarissaLG

He looks fantastic. The only complaint I can muster is that the tie looks a little heavy for springtime, right? Or do I just not know enough about how menswear works? But everything else? Baby, don’t change a thing.

  • Pterodactyl111

If you’re gonna have a beard, that’s how to do it. Nice.

  • guest2visits

Did you say something about fit…. oh whatever TLo!

  • MilaXX

I just happy to see a male star consistently putting in the work for his pole dance

  • msdamselfly

    Hair and beard perfection

  • Must not fall into screen staring at those lips. I love that his grooming extends to his skin as well. He IS the memo.

  • TropiCarla

I involuntarily made a little growling noise in my throat at the sight of him.
I gotta stop reading TLo at my desk – my office mate is going to snitch.

  • appliquer

  • stubbornthoughts

As a straight female, of all the things for me to comment on here, I just want to say I really appreciate his tie. That’s a good tie.

    I’d like to grab it.

  • TheAmericaness

    I haven’t smoked in years…..

  • padma sallah

He looks so neat! And perfect. I LOVE IT.

  • Imasewsure

Not in love with the suit but I appreciate the effort and the professionalism … and he’s a hottie so there’s that…

  • JuliaInBlack

My fingers are poised to punch out an intelligible comment, but my brain is just stuck in an endless loop of Beavis & Butthead giggles.

  • It fit bad on the model too, maybe this suit is just owning “bad fit”

  • yethica

Isn’t that a pretty classic length for a men’s jacket? I mean… isn’t a jacket supposed to come down to about mid-thumb when the arms are relaxed at the sides? I personally feel that the trend in menswear jackets these days tends to make most men look like they’re wearing their little brother’s clothing… I think he looks pretty perfect here.

  • Zaftiguana

You’re absolutely right about the vest and the hem, but…damn. He looks amazing. And the effort! The visible effort that went into this! It warms my heart.

  • Sunshine16

  • Eclectic Mayhem

    *purring noise*

Kinda lovin’ the salt & pepper greys creeping into his beard and temples. He looks more and more like his dad the older he gets.

  • Rand Ortega

    He Purdy.

  • littlemissstrange

    God DAMN.

I am a Quinto fangirl, but my love for this man is growing at a frightening rate. He is perfection. No doubt about it. And with that I have joined the Pinto clan.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

    Mhhh come here Kirk!

  • Hello, Captain! (*sigh!*)

  • I don’t like knit ties. That’s all I can think to say because perfection!

  • berkeleygirl

Bradley Cooper, this is how you should have styled your hair for the Oscars.

  • H2olovngrl

He is like the most adorable banker I have ever seen.

  • Insidiously

  • capybara_cafe

He’s not my cuppa at all, but that’s a fanfuckintastic suit, and he looks great in it. Well done I say!

  • steeg of their own

You see? This is why Captain Kirk can get it anywhere in the galaxy.

  • maggiemaybe

The hair IS magnificent, right? And that beard and the eyebrows. Damn!

  • ccm800

WHAT is going on stage right that NO ONE is looking at this fella?

  • MartyBellerMask

WOW. This boy has never done it for me, but he’s looking great here!

  • That beard makes him precisely 46% hotter.

  • Patricia Gillett

Grooming to die for, looking like a grown-up and ready to earn his star cred. Take note Brad Pitt, here’s how you show up looking on the RC. NOT looking like you slept on the floor of a Greyhound bus station.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

It’s too tight in the vest but so is the model’s vest. Why do the do that?
