Love her, hate her lipstick.
this feels twee. but Ive loved Audrey irrationally since Amelie & Dirty Pretty Things. so Im here for it.
I love her so much – thanks for posting!
Perfect. I can’t imaging anybody else wearing this…but, funnily enough, I was expecting a RED dress. Dork.
A cute summer frock. She’s adorable!
Killing me with twee. At some stage you have to stop being the ingenue, surely? And I am jealous as heck because that’s what I want my hair to do when it is short but it doesn’t.
Why? She still looks easily like a girl in her 20′s.
I feel the same way. This dress should only be worn by Queen of
Pleasantvilles’s Sunflower Parade or a little girl on an Easter egg
Pretty dress, lovely hair & make-up, tragically boring shoes.
She looks adorable, as usual. Not loving the putty shoes with this. How about a delicious yellow green shoe?
You are so correct, a yellowish green thick strap sandal, something with a medium heel and slight platform (not a bear trap) would be perfect and take away some of the sweetness. I love her.
Oh honey, THAT was the best lipstick/shoe combo you could find for that fresh little dress?
I love her hair that length. She had it that short a few years ago and it looks so cute… of course, she could give a crap what I think of her hair.
I don’t like the shoes and the waist of the dress is too low and the skirt is too full, but overall she looks cute.
The hair is lovely.
I agree. There is also an issue of it being wrinkly, or something? I know it’s arranged a certain way and the model is still and stiff in the photo, but the gathering just looks messy, exacerbating the overly-full look of the skirt.
I love her.
She is lovely–I’ve had a ladycrush on her since Amelie–but that hair is not for her. Her hair is too thick for that length, and the black looks unnatural. It looks like a wig.
… Isn’t that her natural hair color? I’ve never seen her with anything other than black hair so if anyone can correct me on that, be my guest.
Her hair does seem blacker than usual.
Yes. Maybe if she were wearing a more saturated color dress, the wig effect would be lessened.
LOVE. Missed this lady. I’d go with a lighter lip color for this outfit and pick a more summer-y shoe, but those are minor quibbles. Audrey + the dress = no words, just gaping mouth of admiration.
She’s new to me – cute in the dress! But the hair? Like Jan Brady!! No!
Love her, especially the hair!
Valentino? Really? I had the exact same dress when I was 4 years old and we spent the summer in the country. I have pictures.
Her hair’s cute, the dress makes her look dumpy (mine fit better), the shoes suck.
May I second that. Whatever makes this a Valentino and not just some upscale Junior dept. summer frock, besides, of course, a heft price tag? Why would you look to Valentino for a garment like this? It’s charming, but this dress is not why a person buys designer clothes.
I sort of agree, but I have to admit that if I came into real money, I’d probably eventually wear designer clothes for casual occasions because of linings and things like the zipper set in under her left arm and finished seams and high quality buttons/other notions. (And anything I liked enough to wear multiple times would be altered to fit.) Of course, I *say* this. Barring a big lottery win, we don’t know what I’d really do.
I think if it were cut off at the knee it would help. That length is bad.
Do not like the dress.
It’s a scroll down fug for me. The length and fullness are off somehow. I love her from the top, but somewhere in the middle it gets to be too much.
I didn’t even notice her shoes because I was distressed by the length.
The print bother me most. It looks better suited for bed linens or kitchen curtains. But, yes, the fullness of the skirt isn’t helping either. It looks like a home-ec project.
That dress is just ridiculous. It’s retro to a bad time in my life, I guess.
Those shoes give Barbie Feet. Blerg.
From the neck up she is oh so “French”. The rest is bleh
This dress is oddly juvenile and totally unflattering. I don’t get it.
Love the look from the waist up.
Cute, but Valentino is reaching way back for this look, I wore it in Florida in the late 50s/early 60s. It still needs ironing!
Nice to see Audrey here. Maybe we’re all dying for some fresh faces.
Very cute and sweet. Perfect mid-May dress for a beautiful young girl.
I agree, for a beautiful young girl aged 1-16. She’s 36.
This dress needs sandals! Then she can go sing in the hills!
Nope, waaay too twee for my taste…but then so was Amelie. Loved her much, much more in He Loves Me .. He Loves Me Not. And she is almost 40, people, I don’t care how young she looks, this precious little sundress is too young for her.
I was quite liking everything – her hair, face, the dress – and then I scrolled to those flesh-colored atrocities on the feet.
Why does anyone wear them ever, let alone with an adorable, spring look like that?? *sighs*
Maybe in person the dress is sweet-looking. Cute neckline. But the way the gathers fit around the waist, the dress looks very frumpy from certain angles. She’s beautiful without a doubt. The lipstick seems too dark for the light fabric.
I’m getting a strong feel of Holly Hobbie and that’s no bueno.
She’s as cute as can be, but the dress is too long and too casual for Cannes.
It’s too casual, it’s a sundress for extreme humidity. I had one like it in my 20s…i like the lipstick but hate the shoes. People: one does NOT match lipstick to clothing!!!
I feel like she’s the only person on the planet who could make this look more chic than twee. Love.
Was she in the middle of gardening or baking a pie when she remembered she had to be on a red carpet? This is too twee and uninspired, specially for Cannes.
Cute dress, boring shoes.
I swear my little sister had that same dress 15 years ago. It’s nice to see her again though. I’m ignoring the nude shoes – at least they aren’t clodhoppers.
She’s so lovely! I’ve always really liked her. I can overlook the bit of tweeness of the dress, and for silly putty pumps those aren’t too bad.
I adore her and the outfit works on all levels, now if she’d just quit slouching!
The shape does nothing for her. And I know it’s her look, but it’s a tad too twee, though the right accessories might have helped.
Not a bad dress, but it does nothing for her. Hate the shoes. She can wear sophisticated, simple lines really well. Go change, Audrey.
Like the bodice, but the skirt looks out of proportion. Love her eyebrows.
I am wondering how it can be both too young and yet so frumpifying? And the lipstick shade is awful. Fail, fail and fail. Audrey, come back to us! You’re so adorable and wonderful!
Needs a brighter lipstick. Other than that, it’s very cute. I think she can pull off twee without eyerolls.
Taylor Swift wants her dress back now. And what did you do with the cardigan?
KILL THOSE SHOES WITH FIRE.
I love Audrey, but I cannot believe this is Valentino. Cute summer dress, but it looks like Swiss milkmaid meets Little Bo Peep to me. Not for anyone over age 12.
Frumpy. Fitted a bit more through the torso, and it would have worked for me.
Her hair is beyond awesome in profile, but I’m not convinced it’s the best possible thing for her face on. (As if she or anyone should consult me on hairstyles.) I think this dress looks fine, cute, casual, not too twee – but she could have worn SO MANY cute shoes and instead chose those? Sad.
I was thinking the same thing about her hair… trying to pinpoint why… maybe the sideburns?
a little too cutesy but love the hair and makeup – she has such a beautiful face
I want her hair.
Something about the way she’s holding her mouth in the 4th pic down (including the one of the model) reminds me of Jerri Blank from Strangers with Candy.
I just needed to profess my endless love for this dress. Perfectly Southern European day frolicking around the coastal town on holiday, dress. I covet.
I’m not convinced that a grown woman should be wearing this dress, but I have to say, she might be the most adorable human on earth… you know, in her age category.
It’s a little twee, but with that cute fluffy haircut and bold lip, it works!
Demonstrating that not all French women are effortlessly chic.
What a perfect dress (and hair) for a stroll down the waterfront on the Med. There’s almost always a breeze, and she’s dressed for daytime in a resort.
cute hair, cute dress, but not a good look for her. maybe some accessorizing would have helped. though I think i’m leaning towards not a good dress for her full stop. Length’s too long, skirt ballooning but not complimented by a cinched waist. just not a tight look.
this is the only audrey tatou post on the entire site. surprising.
