Will.i.am in London

Posted on April 22, 2013

T Lo thinks Will.i.am is A-OK.

That is so totally the kind of thing a dorky uncle would say, is it not? We are ashamed, but we couldn’t resist the opportunity. Besides, this look actually is pretty okay.

Will.i.am arrives at BBC Radio 1 in London.

Until you get to the bottom, that is. He kinda loses us with the socks and shoes. We love a good pair of patterned socks, but these are focus-pulling. Combined with the shoe, there’s too much black and he looks like he’s walking around in stocking feet. Everything from the belt up is giving us life, though. Love that jacket. Love the shades. Love the bow tie. Could do without the pants. It’s half a good look, basically.

  • It’s certainly a look. Definitely great from the waist up, and while I wish he’d worn different pants, these are inoffensive. The socks and shoes are off for me, as well.

  • gabbilevy

Better fitted pants and a different pair of socks (or maybe no socks with these shoes? Guys? How would you style this?) this could be a manWERQ. As is… 7.0.

    • JosephLamour

There is a visual illusion happening here. He looks like he’s wearing house slippers.

    • JosephLamour

PS: I would have rolled the pants down and chosen some deep blue oxfords, if he wanted a pop of color.

  • Carly Warnock

Hahahaha. Those shoes and socks are just bananas. Thx for the laugh Will.i.am.

  • I love his studded clutch! 🙂

    • sunnycalif

      Matches his belt!

  • zenobar

    Who doesn’t love a man-clutch?

    • Coco Cornejo

I think it’s an iPad case.

  • imspinningaround

    It’s a European carryall!

    • barbarienne

I’m assuming that’s an iPad case. It looks about the right size.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Everything below the waist is sad. Sad, sad, sad.

  • I thought he was wearing slippers, otherwise I like this look.

  • fursa_saida

I was SO HAPPY about this until I hit his ankles. Urban digital hologram mime basically sums up Will.i.am’s entire being.

  • hughman

    Mr. Peabody.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

At last, a male version of scroll-down FUG.

  • I feel from the waist down he’s trying too hard. If he wore properly fitted pants and not show his socks, I would really love this look.

  • Imasewsure

I’m feeling it even the socks/shoes since it’s fun… love me some dots

  • the BBC interview was, however, cringe inducing

  • ccm800

I wonder who he stole the look from? He steals everything else

    • Sarah

    • spooki C

      andre 3000?

      Can’t stand Steal.i.am

    • Thank you for saying what I was thinking.

    • That’s some Sir Elton realness right there.

  • It’s like someone slipped a tab to Urkel.

  • Despite my love of highwater tomboy femme looks, this one is passing me by.

  • MilaXX

It’s a typical WIll. i. am look and honestly he’s worn worse.

  • Nearly dapper. I could live with the pants, but really wish he’d made other choices with his socks and shoes.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

From the waist up, natty! From the waist down, tatty.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

This whole time I’ve been looking at the little picture on the homepage and thinking it was Spike Lee.

  • nannypoo

I like it all. He’s adorable.

  • Rachel

Stocking feet! So true. I blame the shoes entirely – they look far too much like your standard men’s work sock, with the white toe, so it really does look like he’s not wearing shoes at all. The socks with a different pair of shoes I would have no problem with.

  • Like he cares!

  • I have a non-rational hate for him.
    He makes me angry.

    • Alexander Peterhans

I have completely rational hate for him – I (reluctantly) pay attention to what he says and does.

  • “Could do without the pants.” Well, yes!

  • jw_ny

sorry…matching clutch, belt and shoes (toe) is a fashion don’t…even for guys. And yes, the socks are focus pulling…not an easy thing to do considering this outfit! ha!

    edit: ok…it’s a matchy ipad case…what evs…

  • formerlyAnon

The slippers/socks looking shoes bug me, and I will never get used to that style spectacles, on anybody. Even though I know I’m *supposed to* react to them. The rest is fine, I don’t even mind the pants. But what’s got me traumatized is that I suddenly realized that my son would choose this ensemble. It would appeal to both his sense of style and his sense of humor. Thank god he’s too lazy about his dress to put it together.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

burn me with flamethrowers, but i like socks + sandals together. it’s kind of hot.

  • TheAmericaness

    It’s just the socks, really.

  • JasmineAM

Jesus, he’s changed so much since “Joints & Jams”. He seems like such a fake now.

  • MoHub

    Are those Urkel pants?

  • Stubenville

Can’t wait to see a picture of the both of you in a getup like this. [holds breath]

  • Kirsten Kirsten

Is he doing five year old’s parties now? Clown suit.

    • MissusBee

Totally. The glasses look like they should have googly eyes on springs. Make the shoes seven sizes bigger, add a flower that squirts water and the look is complete.

  • PrunellaV

Newsreader fashion. No one will see him from the waist down, apparently.

  • Trisha26

He lost me from the knees down. If he rolled the pants down, and they hid the socks and fit (hemmed, not all baggy/puckery) I think the shoes would work.

  • bellafigura1

That looks like Pee Wee Herman’s tie.

  • sado

The biggest no talent hack ever lived………..puke

  • myristica_fragrans

will.i.am.not is wearing some cool socks. and that’s all i have to say.

  • pookiesmom

His shoes look like fancy, weird socks to me. Strange, strange look.

  • ankali

Is it just me, or does the combination of those pants with those socks & shoes make his ankles look preternaturally tiny?

  • Those glasses are amazeballs.

  • kathrineb

I LOLed about the ‘fake stocking feet’
