WERQ: Helen Mirren in Lindka Cierach

Posted on April 29, 2013

Bow down. Miss Lady is serving up … Lady.

Helen Mirren attends the 2013 Laurence Olivier Awards in a Lindka Cierach navy lace dress.

Oh Queen Helen. You’re back. Let us never speak of those dreary Dolce & Gabbana days again, dear. We don’t even mind your too-matchy accessories and too-large shoes. We are just so very happy to have our queen back; here on the island of Fuckinfantastica.

You WERQ that perfect-for-you gown, Queen Gurl! ROYAL SNAPS.

  • She (along with The Golden Girls) gives me hope for the future, and makes me want to be better today.

She is my Nicolas Sparks cliche.

  • understateddiva

glorious. I have a minor quibble w/ the shoes, but overall, stunning

  • Meg0GayGuys6

I’m. not… loving this. I hate to go against my favorite gay uncles, but yea…. not a fan of this. Everything south of the girls ain’t doin it for me.

    • I love the neckline & bodice, but the more I look at the double hem, the more I agree with you.

      • Qitkat

It almost looks like wide-legged sheer pants.

    • pssst…me either

    • Spreecord

Speaking of ‘the girls’, how is it her tits are better than mine? Woe.

  • Just GORGEOUS. So much so that I can just ignore the shoes.

  • I love that neckline on her. So sexy.

    • AudreysMom

Queen Helen also knows to leave the necklace that matches those earrings at home. Better to have the eyes go to those gorgeous boobs, then slowly glace back upward to the face, eyes and touch-of-glamour hairdo. (bowing down).

    • sojourneryouth

Doesn’t it look AMAZING! So elegant, and so SEXY! It is so perfect for a woman in her age bracket. Not dowdy at all, and yet not desperate. I wish Helen would teach all the older female celebrities how it’s done. If I could afford her, I’;d sign up for Sexy Bitch lessons myself!

  • StellaZafella

Downton Abbey…anyone….PLEASE? I wanna see what she’d do with (to) Maggie Smith.

    • MikeW_Vegas

If DA was present time England, they could have the Dowager Countess have an audience with the Queen.

      • StellaZafella

In the Dowager’s eyes…t’would be the Queen who was having the audience with HER! 😉

I was dreaming up someone buying the estate that the eldest daughter’s ex-beau is unloading…the one next door to Downton that looks like Buckingham Cottage?, though I suppose no one will ever foil the Dowager as well as did “The American Mother-in-law”…
It’s just this dress doing it, I guess, it looks like a period update of a tea dress for a very wealthy woman of a certain era…and on Dame Helen…it gives me ideas.

        • MikeW_Vegas

I support your ideas 100% and I’d be all for Dame Helen and Dame Maggie going at it. I suppose they’re both too classy for a bitch fight in the koi pond ala Krystal/Alexis?

  • Helen Mirren is a werq no matter what she wears.

  • Back and giving us all a lesson. Thank you.

  • hughman

All I know is Katie Couric does not look happy in the background.

    • zenobar

Katie o’ the blue dress and Red Gnome Hat Fella just beyond her look like disgruntled floating Wee Folk.

    • editrixie

What is the dealio with her? Helen has all these different poses, yet Angry Katie remains frozen in one position with the same angry ducklips expression. It’s hilar.

    • RebeccaKW

I see a young Hillary Clinton, rather than Katie.

    • MoHub

      Pure jealousy.

  • kipper

We can only hope that all the other ladies just hung their heads and went home…..

  • That’s a straight IN-YOUR-FACE to all who worship at the Botox altar. That woman is gorgeous and there is no denying it.

    • MoHub

I worship every wrinkle and crinkle on her face.

    • sojourneryouth

Preach and the children shall LISTEN! 🙂

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Not a fan of how the sequins look directly against her skin, and the shoes don’t work at all. But this is more than the sum of its parts and is so much better than her D&G widows’ weeds period, so I’ll take it.

  • VicD

Something about that says “Empress Josephine in her later years,” but in a totally GOOD way.

  • I almost love this, but I find the odd hem disconcerting, as if Lindka couldn’t figure out which of two lengths she preferred, so she decided to go with both. I love everything above the waist, but don’t find the lower third particularly pleasing.

  • I want to wear the hell out of this.

  • Fantastic. And as a bonus, I’m fairly sure it was Tom Hiddleston who presented her with her award at the event.

  • Nikko Viquiera

Call 911!!! My fingers are bleeding from snapping…can’t stop…snapping!

  • Golfkat

    That’s just gorgeous.

  • Insidiously

LOl at Katie Couric in the background “HOW DID YOU DO IT WITHOUT BOTOX??!!!” LOL

  • There is nothin’ like a Dame Helen Mirren.

Such is her power that I’ll even ignore the fact that EVERYTHING matches

  • Folk Devil

I scrolled up a bit to hide the shoes, and voilá, perfection! She is one hot dame!

  • MilaXX

Love it! I think the monochromatic look works well here.

  • Tatiana Luján

I don’t like the shape of the skirt or the shoes, but that color is gorgeous and great on her skin.

  • maggiemaybe

She was born to wear that neckline. Exquisite!

  • shawnhunter

i love that neckline on her. on an OT note, do any of you guys ever see a celeb wearing something and cross your fingers that tlo will feature it? i’ve been waiting for one look, but i don’t know if it’s gonna happen…

  • Lilithcat

Points off for the clunky shoes, but still a WERQ.

  • Judy_S

The opposite of scroll-down fug. Scroll-down fuckingfantastica?

  • appliquer

I saw this photo on another site and immediately thought “WERQ”! She is gorgeous in this color and the neckline is fantastic. Time, however, to get rid of the clunky shoes.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

She’s the Queen, and the Queen can match if she so pleases.

  • fringebenefit

Oh, and the hair. Indeed, bow down. None of it should work, but it does–glorious.

  • alyce1213

Sparkly but dignified, elegant, celebratory — perfect for the occasion. That’s my favorite neckline.
    Her hair is beautifully done.
    But the shoes . . .

  • This is how it’s done, older ladies. I’m nearly her age and my goal is to look half as good. I don’t like her shoes, but damn, she’s wearing heels, for pete’s sake. If I can wear heels into my sixties and seventies, I’ll be happy.

  • crash1212

Beautiful. I even like her hair, which is unusual for me. I also love the dress on the minion photo-bombing in the background.

    • alyce1213

I just scrolled back to look – yes, very pretty print dress on the photo-bomber.

  • Hell, I’m 24 and would love to wear this

  • MoHub

OMG! She’s not wearing black hose! But the shoes have to go.

  • stubbornthoughts

    My God she is lovely.

  • hunt3002

When I grow up I want to Hillary Clinton with Helen Mirren’s style.

  • TheAmericaness

    I don’t think I can prostrate myself any lower…

  • Shoes n length wrong…. She’s to die for fabulous!

  • Lovely neck and shoulders. Thank goodness the pink hair is gone.

  • She’s got some flawless decolletage going on there. That neckline is superb on her, as is the colour.

  • Contralto

    *bowing down*

  • capybara_cafe

I think I’ve said “Fabulous!” about 15 times while scrolling along. I bow down.

  • MoHub

We need a gathering of the Dames to show us how to age. Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, and Diana Rigg for starters. And American representation from Betty White.

    • MikeW_Vegas

You could probably add Mary Louise in as a an American Representation as well.

  • makeityourself

Okay, boys, by my count that’s two navy lace dresses that you’ve liked over the past 30 days or so. What is going on?

  • I can’t stop looking at her personal Hazel Frederick, scowling there in the background in a kicky floral dress.

  • Trisha26

Still want to be her when I grow up.

  • She’s stunning.

  • And her hair! And her face! She’s radiant. I want to be just like her if I grow up.

  • Call me Bee

That is a great dress, Dame Helen looks great in it and I want one just like it!!

  • The people approve; The duchy of Fuckinfantastica rejoices.

  • jw_ny

lovely…until you get to those clunky shoes. They’re not elegant, like the rest is.

    • mhleta

They’re funky, though, which I kinda dig on her!

    • At least it is not peep toes with hose. I will let these hoof shoes pass based on that alone.

      • jw_ny

ha! If I recall correctly, she has done that. I won’t give her a pass here tho…werqs don’t get passes from me.

      • mmc2315

        Right! Whew, no hose! LOL

  • She’s an eternal WERQ for me.

  • Not only does she look fantastic in this, but she also won an Olivier for her performance in The Audience. I saw the play last month in London, and both it and SHE was remarkable. Seeing Helen Mirren acting up close and in person is one of the highlights of my theater-going life! If you get to London, go see it.

    • MoHub

You have now officially made me envious.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

I can only hope I look HALF that good at her age. She actually inspires me not to let myself go as I get older. True story. I mean, look at figure. Shut it down!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I want to be her when I grow up. I love that dress. I am not loving the hem so I’m not looking at it and I’m also not looking at what appears to be the thick sole of her shoe, but the neckline and her beautiful skin, I’m just looking at that.

  • e jerry powell

  • formerlyAnon

I am ON BOARD! Not pretending to be a spring chicken and owning her look.

  • AnnaleighBelle

That neckline is one of the most universally flattering looks – with boobal support – imho.

  • mhleta

Regal bodaciousness x 1000. I see your Royal Snaps and raise you a “Dayuum, Gurrrl!”

  • gracedarling

    Beautiful decolletage. Wear sunscreen, everyone!

  • Anniebet

Nobody gonna top that. Ever. The shoes become inconsequential in the face of so much gloriousness.

  • sado

    WOW…stunning and amazing………

  • julnyes

  • Iroqhard

Why do I have the urge to want to like, nuzzle her neck, or something.

  • hmatz

She’s gorgeous. I don’t even mind the shoes; they give the look a pinch of divine diva-ness.

  • unbornfawn

I bow down to the queen!

  • Imasewsure

Yes!! What a relief… I thought we lost her for awhile…

  • leave_Blake_alone

Oh c’mon, this is not a werq. It’s nice, but not a werq.

  • I’m not sure what the mother/grandmother of Daenerys Targaryen (white haired princess on Game of Thrones) would look like but I’m almost certain this is the Queen Regent of the Targaryens!!

  • Nonmercisansfacon

My God, that posture. That face. That bosom. That woman. The Woman to imitate Sherlock!

  • ccm800

yeah – gotta give a Dame of a certain age a break in the shoe department

  • merciblahblah

I LOVE Mz. Helen, but I am so distracted by the creeper in the background who looks like a very cranky deer in the headlights that she pulls my attention in almost every photo. The third one down made me laugh out loud. I have to hand it to her – she is COMMITTING to that pose in every photo.

  • Tuneful54

I love everything about it, especially the neckline and color. She rules and gives me hope for me (rapidly approaching) later years.

They aren’t the shoes I’d have chosen but maybe they pull it back further from the brink of matronly.

  • At less than half her age, I am envious of her skin. One hopes their decolletage looks as impressive as Queen Mirren’s when we’re that age.

  • She’s got it!

Somewhat related… Are we going to get TLo’s thoughts on Queen Maxima and Kind Willem-Alexander and the festivities around their coronation? So many royal dresses and outfits and I need help to form an opinion!

  • guest2visits

wow – really fantastic; she looks beautiful. Blue velvet platforms…yes!

  • Cold Fire

    She wore Bluuuuuuuuuuue VELLLLLLvet!!!!!!!!! *sings*

  • lrhoff

    Oh how lovely….what a presence.

  • bellafigura1

  • and thank god, no black hoisery!

  • Fit to play the queen? Here is the litmus test.
