Taylor Swift in Dolce&Gabbana

Posted on April 08, 2013

Credit where it’s due; Miss Tay is serving it up on a platter with a side order of attitude.

Taylor Swift attends the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards in a Dolce&Gabbana gown accessorized with Jimmy Choo shoes, Norman Silverman earrings, and a Le Vian ring.

Dolce&Gabbana Fall 2007 Collection/Model: Lara Stone

More of that please, girl.

Oddly, we find ourselves not loving the hair. We say “oddly,” because we tend to default to “this would look so much better with a sleek ponytail” nine times out of ten when we’re hair-bitching. And on its own, it really is a terribly cute look for her. But we kinda don’t feel that this is a look that calls for a sleek ponytail.

Still. Quibbles. Girl looks hot and glamorous.

She really does look good. A bit monochrome, but the dress looks fabulous & she was wise to ditch the belt. She’s really got a great figure, doesn’t she?

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

The fit is impeccable! I think it is her fringe and those whispy bits in front of her ears that detract from the ponytail.

    • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

      That is her dress!

    • blueberrypanckae

perfect look! I love it the way she wears it – unbelted as opposed to the model. perfect earrings

    • MilaXX

I gotta say as annoying as she is, she rarely gets it wrong.

    • AlisonS

I think the ponytail works, but it’s the booms that take it into casual territory. Don’t know exactly how you would get rid of those, but it would definitely improve the look.

      • Bexxx

Okay so I haven’t slept since Saturday night so I may be losing my mind but WH A T is booms in reference to I FEEL LIKE I KNOW BUT I CAN’T REMEMBER.

        • Janet B

          booms = bangs

          • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

            Oversized bangs.

    • Eva_baby

Pretty dress. But in that second picture of her (the headshot) she looks remarkably like an Elf. All I am seeing is Galadriel.

      • kmk05

        Tay Tay? As Galadriel? NEVER!!!!

Ha, she is a little Elf-like: I think it’s the eyelashes.

      • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Huh, I went straight to Legolas.

    • TheDivineMissAnn

      LOVE the earrings!

    • Imasewsure

The fit of the dress looks better when it’s a bit looser I think but it’s a gorgeous dress…. needs some finger curls or something more 1930’s though. Love the makeup

    • siriuslover

It looks like the dress is irritating the front of her shoulder. I can see the redness in the second to last picture.

      • TonyGo

She irritates the shit out of me, so we’ll call it even.

    • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

      “Oh, honey! You’re a MODEL!”

    • SewingSiren

The shine from the rhinestone neckline is giving her an enormous wart on the chin.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

My quibble with her hair is the side wisps…they look like an afterthought. But still, she looks drop dead gorgeous.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

TayTay looks fine, but I’m fixated on how freaking depressed that model looks.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Never seen her look better. Damn but she does have a “cutabitch” expression on her face, though.

      • Pants_are_a_must

I think that’s her real face, to be honest.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Are you perhaps implying that her carefully crafted, “I’m just a really nice girl” image is a posture? I’m horrified.

          • DinaSews

            Haha!

          • Pants_are_a_must

As Simon Amstell once said: “I’ll try to carry on, but I’m shocked and appalled!”

            • Meg0GayGuys6

              WORD! Love me some Amstell!

            • http://www.facebook.com/isadora.paiva.7 Isadora Paiva

That is why I love the bitter kittens. Simon Amstell references aren’t as common as they should be!

            • semirose

For reals. That boy needs to come to Chicagoland sometime instead of always sticking to the coasts when he comes to the states.

    • Pants_are_a_must

She is the same shade of pale gold, head-to-toe. Am I the only one disturbed by that?

    • gsk241

I love the dress, and she does look gorgeous in it, but there’s just something about her face that makes me want to slap her. That’s my issue, though, and I’m working through it…

    • Carole Scofield

Just realized what I find so annoying about this young woman: she looks like Morgan Fairchild!

      • rococodada

But I LIKE Morgan Fairchild! lol

        • Carole Scofield

Haha!! Well, different strokes……I saw Morgan on something recently, and she seemed to have a sense of humor about herself, but back in the day……ugh……

    • Mismarker

That hair is a color not found in nature.

    • DinaSews

Hey TLo, did you get the manuscript done and turned in?

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

The stones around the neck are a “bit” over the top but besides that is FAB!

      • Wellworn

Bert, Quacker Factory made many sparkle and shine t-shirts with stones like that. (Don’t ask how I know this.) Jeanne Bice = Dolce & Gabbana? Who knew?

    • kmk05

I like the ponytail, I just don’t really like the bangs. She looks good: a little monochrome, but good.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Nice job, Tay-Tay. Gorgeous dress, and she looks elegant and sophisticated.

    • YourLibrarian

I very much hate her hair color. I don’t know whether it’s natural or the work of a professional, but either way I think it’s dull and does nothing for her.

      • Donna Tabor

One of my daughters has hair that exact shade, and it’s natural. I like it. Of course.

    • marilyn

I think her hair, makeup and styling are what keep this dress from being cheesey and tacky. The makeup and hair are minimialist. The styling is too. They restrained themselves from a Dolly Parton hairdo, pounds of eye shadow and pounds of jewelry. It looks sleek and sophistocated. Brava!!

    • crash1212

She looks beautiful. This dress is so much better without the belt. What is it today with the adding and subtracting of belts. I sense a theme.

    • Janet B

I am surprised how great this looks on her.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

The ponytail, I do not mind. The cheap-ass hair elastic holding it up, I mind. With such a blingy dress, THAT’S what you use?

That being said, this is a good look for her. And I can’t stand her, so that’s like me saying, “That is a fierce Stella McCartney dress.”

    • decormaven

Credit where credit is due- she is working this look.

    • urbanamish

taylor swift werq. she manages to look like charlize theron. and the dress is stunning.

    • GorgeousThings

      She’s got stink-face down pat.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Monzerrat-Ontiveros/100000216133922 Monzerrat Ontiveros

the pony tail makes less severe the look!

    • http://twitter.com/Glam_Dixie Glam Dixie

Her makeup looks great, I’m so glad her red lip faze is over, love the hair, dress is beautiful, no complaints from me. I’m loving this on her.

    • MRC210

This dress is fabulous. I like it better worn without the belt.

    • RinPauler

My favorite part must be the fact that the dress comes from Dolce Fall 2007 instead of their recent hideous offerings.

    • oldbobbydraper

if barbara eden was a really snotty teenager in 2013 – this is what she would look like.

    • http://twitter.com/Glam_Dixie Glam Dixie

Would it be awful to say that my favorite part of the night was that Taylor didn’t win anything?

    • musicandmochi

I know I’ll probably be shot down on sight, but honestly, I think this is a WERQ.
She irritates me like no other, but I’m not one to withhold credit where it’s due either.

    • thecitysleeps

I love everything, including the earrings which are adorable and the fact that her ponytail has a visible hair band. BUT I CAN’T STAND HER. UGH.

    • formerlyAnon

With a loose updo, I’d nominate it for a WERQ on a T. Swift curve. I like the ponytail better than I would hair down, I think.

    • poggi

Whatever iron bra Taylor is wearing, should come standard with that dress. The model’s chest looks low and squished in that dress. Good choice on the undergarments Taylor and Taylor’s team.

    • kalisa

Those are some weirdly shaped bangs. Why do they start in the middle of her head?

    • Trisha26

The dress looks old-fashioned and way too mature for her, hate the stale hair, and she’s just very Stepford-y.

    • understateddiva

serving gorgeous bitchface! I like this new Taylor. (not so much the new music. PLEASE, stop playing her most recent song 8 times a day, local pop stations)

    • guest2visits

I could do without the chunky ‘crystal’ neckline of the dress or the elastic band; but she looks amazing anyway.

    • bd73

i wish she’d done the hair up with some pizzazz, big and curly

    • lrober03

The dress is better, but I feel like gold and glittery is an award show default for her.

    • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

Pushing irrational dislike aside, I give this a WERQ.

    • Bakerlooline

Am I the only one who thinks she’s better off to stick with the virginal white for a little while longer? She looks a bit like she’s playing dress-up in this.

    • FrayedMachine

      She looks great.

But I still don’t like her.

    • Frank Lithium

Well ‘allo ‘allo, we seem to have a saucy little minx at hand here.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Perfection. Just perfect. I don’t care if it IS Taylor Swift. It’s perfect.

    • kathrineb

Oh look another gold dress covered in bling on a young starlet. Yawn. Next!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

That hair looks EXACTLY like whatever doll you would pull the hair to make it grow. And then suck it back into the head? I mean, it has the same icky scruffy yet too smooth polyester look to it. 8-(
