Taylor Swift for Wonderland Magazine

Posted on April 09, 2013

We think Wonderland hit it out of the park with this one.

Taylor Swift covers the April/May 2013 issue of Wonderland magazine.

It’s all perfectly, nauseatingly Tay, but it feels more chic and more fun than her usual style. When it comes down to it, we don’t hate her style so much as how she expresses it. She’s built for the girly, twee stuff. It’s just that she often tips over into toothache-inducing. Lately, she seems to be doing a little better. All these editorials might be rubbing off on her.

She has a remarkable ability to make her eyes go completely vacant.

    • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

I don’t think she’s doing it on purpose.

      • http://twitter.com/carnivaltenten Ten Ten

        Touche!

    • notterriblybitter

Just imagine if she and Zac Efron had a baby. The eyes would be so vacant, it would actually look like a doll.

      • MsOlympia

It would be the second coming of Mario Lopez.

  • subwaycars

I will absolutely admit to adoring that second picture. Also, the lack of make-up makes her look incredibly young.

    • bookish

The second photo reminds me of the Banana Republic Mad Men collection TLo featured not too long ago. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was new photos from that same ad campaign.

    • NC_Meg

She looks like a completely different person without heavy eye makeup! I kinda like it.

  • JasmineAM

She annoys the living shit out of me, but these are very cut pictures. Now let me go bleach my brain.

  • Slade Thunderdragon

The second picture is AMAZING. I love how all these pictures look as though they were taken with a Holga camera. The retro style with the bright clothing really works well on her.

    • Qitkat

Her legs/feet look very strangely photoshopped to me in that picture. It may be just perspective, but her right foot and left knee look enormous. If you’re going to ‘shop anyway, at least fix this.
      Waist up it’s cute.

  • PastryGoddess

She got a new stylist and it has done her a world of good. I no longer want to eat lemons to cure the twee I get from looking at her

  • Trisha26

    Don’t like this…very 60s boring and she looks 16.

  • MilaXX

It’s okay I guess. I will concede that it looks like she is wearing clothes for a 20 something rather than clothes for a 13 year old but I still find the editorial boring.

  • MoHub

Aargh!. She’s gone back to twee.

  • http://cultureblaze.com/ @CandaceAmos

Absolutely love! Unlike the rest of the world, I don’t hate Tay-Tay. :)

    • clairellis

Me either. I love her. According to my hairstylist (one of the girls who works at the salon is Taylor’s stylist on her tour right now) she is a really nice girl. It’s not fake, she’s just a genuinely nice person.

  • Rand Ortega

    Gucci loafers make everything better.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

But I do wish they’d mixed it up a little. Same shoe in every shot makes it seem budget.

  • Mismarker

That cover photo looks nothing like Taylor. Love it. She should ease off the eye makeup more often.

  • Kristin McNamara

In the esteemed words of TLo, “Close your mouth, you goober.”

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Here is what is different: The girl in this photoshoot is FUN.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Meh. I’m bored. It’s a slightly less porny Terry Richardson shoot.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

I think this girl drips with class. Not “klass” like some others (read: Kardashian, Hilton, Lopez), but real, bona fide class.

  • crash1212

I cannot believe how much I lurve those shoes…especially since I’m not a fan of white shoes, usually loathe loafers and think tassels should all be set in a pile and burned. Must have them.

  • Sara

There’s something so on-the-nose about her being the cover girl for their “Outspoken Issue.”

  • sleepycat

    It is Hipster Taylor Swift.

  • Insidiously

Im sorry, but I just want to smack her simpering little face. Look up the word cloying, and under it you will find Tayor Swift. Blech.

    • Sunraya

Or vacuous. That word fits, too.

      • Insidiously

Totally. Or “repulsively sweet and fake to the point of being that evil bitchy girl in high school who acted nice to your face but talked shit behind your back.”

Sorry, I just can’t stand those girls.

  • Laylalola

Really? I think they’ve made her look dumber than a box of rocks in almost all these photos.

  • Zippypie

Her making a heart with her hands on the cover is more chic and less nauseatingly twee??? Oh, I’m so so sorry. NO.

    • http://twitter.com/EmFairbank Emily

Totally agree. I can’t stand her twee-ness or these pictures. It’s just painful. She looks like a vapid bitch I went to high school with.

  • MandyM

Agreed except for the junior-high hand heart thing on the cover. Threw up in my mouth a little at that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I really, really like those white shoes.

  • http://www.two-halves.com/ Michelle Le

to me, this is just terry richardson with an instagram filter.

  • hailtree

    i’m seeing a non-porn version of tracy lords…

  • conniemd

    I want those white loafers.

  • flamingoNW

That blue shift dress is awesome. She should steal that.

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

She is one of the few humans who looks okay with Terry Richardson-style lighting.

…Doesn’t make it *good* lighting, but she does better than most.

    Love the cover.

  • Anniebet

She’s pretty adorbs here. But that pic of her sitting is awkward as hell. Who wants a big clunky shoe to be the focal point of a picture? Weird legs too.

  • Coco Cornejo

She looks like she escaped from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (the Johnny Depp version) in the second photo. For that reason alone, I love it!

  • demidaemon

These pictures cause me to have irrational screen-punching disorder.

    • gsk241

Me, too. I swear, I see her face and I want to slap her. I guess it’s time for me to officially add her to my irrational hate list and stop clicking on anything to do with her.

  • JauntyJohn

You just know that “Perfectly, Nauseatingly Tay” is the name of the slam book her personal assistants pass around to each other in their off hours.

  • nancymae

I love the shoes. Anyone know who they’re by?

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Cute, but what’s with the posing-against-a-wall photography again?

  • Imasewsure

I don’t love the last shot but I love the first two and like the skateboard touch on the third. Love the blue outfit.

  • Tamara Hogan

That ‘making a heart with fingers’ gesture makes me stabby.

  • carnush

Totes adorbs, as you would say.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000088447181 Sam Smith

I think she looks great in the mod styles. She really is very pretty.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571205045 Kent Roby

She’s channeling Rachel Zoe in that second picture.

  • Flexi

I’m not really a fan, but I’m a sucker for her in mod-type stuff. She reminds me of Pattie Boyd/Harrison/Clapton.

  • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

They gave her only one pair of shoes? Otherwise, I think she looks great.

  • VicksieDo

GAH, GIRL, YOU ARE NOT 12! STOP IT, JUST STOP IT. Sorry, she makes me yell.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I’m sure that weird shadow around her was done on purpose but it makes these look very homemade. Like pictures my dad would have taken.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

That first picture is super cute. I love the dress and of course, the glasses.
