bridal, bridal, and more bridal. It’s all I can see.

      • Heather

        Me too. Indeed, 80s bridal.

The lace seems like an afterthought, but thank heavens the illusion netting is matched to her skin. Good hair, not bad makeup but either this woman hates the movie or she is absolutely freezing because she seems to be carrying so much tension in her jaw and collarbones.

      • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

I didn’t notice the netting before. Now I can’t not see it. I’m not wild about this dress. I think her tension is a residual effect of having to deal with Tom Cruise.

        • kmk05

Between Tom Cruise and being cold I’d still pick Tom Cruise, regardless of everyone else’s coats and scarves. I am a little baffled by what she is doing in that photo before last.

          • Heather

I disagree – would choose spending several hours in a meat locker over Tom Cruise.

      • curiouserandcuriousest

I don’t understand the purpose of the illusion netting? Does it somehow give the black lace its shape? Why oh why, Marchesa? And don’t get me started on those hideous sleeves. She, however, is a breath of proverbial fresh air.

        • Jessica O’Connell

Exactly, if it weren’t for the netting, I’d like it. Or if the netting was just trimmed to the lace then I think it’d be fine. Her hair and makeup look great though.

          • AmeliaEve

Yes, once I saw the netting in close-up it was a real turn-off. Otherwise, I really like the dress in a princess-y 19th Century way. It’s romantic without being twee, and she carries it well.

Not a fan of Marchesa, but it’s a dramatic dress and she looks lovely.

Am I the only one who thinks she looks like Angelina Jolie in the 4th picture? Anyway, she’s making quite a splash.

      • Snailstsichr

I was getting a bit of a Catherine Zeta Jones vibe in the close up where she’s looking over her shoulder. But, aren’t we all happy she isn’t sticking her leg out a la Jolie!?!

      • barbarienne

I totally went “Angelina!” when I saw the second picture, and kept right on saying it as I scrolled down. AJ should be taking notes, because this is such a stunning look.

      • CT14

I was thinking this was a Marchesa I could like…if it were in a color. She’s working that Old World glamor, though, and I’m not sure many others could carry that off. If it were in red? Or a jewel tone?

    • butterflysunita

I don’t like the dress but she looks beautiful and striking in it. Way better than the model.

      • korilian

        My thoughts exactly.

    • http://www.facebook.com/CameronETurner Cameron Turner

They just stuck black lace on top of a wedding dress she already designed…

    • MilaXX

I think the whole look is very pretty. Love the hair/makeup.

      • MissAmynae

Seconded. first reaction was “…sigh…so pretty…”

    • GorgeousThings

Pretty girl – too bad she’s got to share the screen with that douchebag.

      • BrooklynBomber

Come on, Gorgeous — don’t hold back! ;)

    • teensmom99

Even she can’t save the dress which is all of marchesa’s worst ticks wrapped into one dress.

      • drdarke

I disagree, @teensmom99 – I think she’s the only person who does save that dress, which on the model looks like a lampoon of a wedding cake dress.

    • Janet B

I really like this look. It has elements that I usually dislike, but for some reason I think that Olga looks very pretty.
      (Surprising myself)

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Heavy, overwrought and generally unflattering.

I’m about ready for a really terrific Pretty of the Day. These ladies have been a disappointment.

      • Lori

Aren’t we about due for a new Vogue Korea? That would really be a nice end to the day.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          sniff..I don’t think we’re getting any pretty…I may has a sad.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000060490093 Anita Freiler Palmer

In the second to last picture she’s saying “How do I look, Uncles T & Lo?” LOL

    • conniemd

Dress would have looked a lot better in a burgundy color.

    • http://twitter.com/lolacestmoi Lola Channing

coat hanger. But we’d like the hat that one chick in the background is wearing.

    • BrooklynBomber

Don’t especially like the dress (ha! Didn’t even realize it was my hated Marchesa till I glanced at a comment below), but after all these pictures it must be said: She’s got a real Gig-meets-Holly-Golightly thing going on.

    • kmk05

…RUSSIAN PERFECTION. I didn’t even notice the dress: her makeup and hair are perfect and she can work a camera lens like no other. When I do look at the dress I am really not a fan. Definitely overwrought.

    • TAT93

Apparently the girl knows how to pick the appropriate dress for each venue, and she certainly knows what suits her the best. NOW that’s what a “Fashionista” should be able to pull off when she has the chance. LOVE.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

i think this may have been lovely in a different colour. just imagine it in a brilliant yellow, or dramatic red.

    • formerlyAnon

This is greater than the sum of its parts. The dress is borderline overwrought, for my tastes, anyway, and she is lovely but a tad colorless. Together, somehow, this works and works well.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Not a Marchesa fan by any means, but if you’re looking for ‘pretty’ this totally delivered.

    • alyce1213

      Marchesa crap.
Her extreme boneyness is off-putting to me.

    • SaoirseLee

From the neck down all I can see is a very slim, hairy-chested man in a wedding dress.

    • plinkiedoodle

      Love the entire package!

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      That is a hideous dress.

    • barbarienne

I don’t like the illusion netting above the lace, but I can see how that might be the only way to be sure the dress stays up.

    • Squirrel270

      Gunne sax.

    • lrhoff

Thank goodness she ditched Tommy boy. She looks much better without him.

    • Squirrel270

      Gunne sax.

    • guest2visits

Not a pretty dress but she looks very pretty anyway. I think I would have liked it better all black.

    • MarissaLG

I usually hate marchesa, but bitch is KILLING it. Really beautiful.

    • Imasewsure

A little too Showboat for me but she looks beautiful and it making this work

    • ankali

She’s really been working this Oblivion junket to her advantage, no? Even her less successful looks have still been interesting, and her face has never been less than flawless.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

She’s working this look. I like it; it suits her.

    • lizajane1776

She looks far better in this than I would have (if I had gotten my way) in my prom dress in 1981.

    • bluefish

Very Anna Karenina during her summer in exile with Vronksy! She looks lovely. I’m not getting Angelina here — a faint whiff of Vera Farmiga maybe.

    • Hetha Innis

She is SUCH a stunner! Even so, I totally hate that dress. But hair and make-up are amazing.

    • bd73

      great hair, pretty dress

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=884880192 Michelle Dial

gawd that is one gorgeous woman. I mean Stunning!

    • Frank Lithium

Not as great as the first two post involving her in the Oblivion film, but she still looks gorgeous though.

    • PeaceBang

I hate this dress but I’ll take the earrings. And I dig the chick behind her with the big yellow fleur in her hair.

    • DesertDweller79

She looks very pretty in it. Much better than the model. Seems a much more simple dress than I am used to seeing from Marchesa.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

      Wow; what a gorgeous dress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1405004314 Cindi Tracy Aune

I would really like that dress in any other color but white.

    • http://profiles.google.com/dorothymichael Dorothy & Michael n/a

She looks very pretty but I can’t stop thinking she should be holding a fan and some castanets.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.schoen Jennifer Bradshaw Schoen

Dress? What dress? I can’t seem to get past all of the sunken in places in her neck. They are really freaking me out!

    • warnerave

      WERQ!

    • crash1212

That’s a beautiful neckline on her. This coulda been a WERQ to my eye.

    • shelley514

What’s up with her neck, clavicles, and shoulders? Looks very strained. Her anatomy totally distracts me from the dress. Off the shoulder is NOT your look girl.
