Naya Rivera in Monique Lhuillier

Posted on April 11, 2013

Naya Rivera attends the premiere of ’42’ in a Monique Lhuillier dress accessorized with Christian Louboutin shoes and Pearl Collective rings.

You are serving up Kelly Garrett realness with that hair and we’re loving you for it.  In fact we love your Angel hair and fierce face-giving so much, that we almost shouted “WERQ it!” But alas, your dress (which is nice) doesn’t seem to fit you very well and then you had to go and deploy the white pump. And while we’re not opposed to the white pump in theory, we think one must be judicious in its use. It just doesn’t do anything for this look and all we can think is how much more fierce a patent leather black stiletto would have looked here.

It’s white pump week here in redcarpetland.

    • annabelle archer

Oh my sigh. This should be so much better than it is. I adore the make-up, especially her eyes. Her hair is Angel realness and her breasts are spectacular. Truly. Then it all just starts going down hill from there. Why, Naya, why?

      • AndresB

Because this is a dress which absolutely MUST be fitted personally on the wearer – and it wasn’t.
Her hair also fulfills the secondary function of covering the tit darts in most pics, which in this case is just as vital as its primary function of looking gorgeous.

    • Sobaika

DAMN she looks good. Calling this a werq from the ankle up.

    • SewingSiren

White pumps are for getting married,……………………………………… the 1960’s.

    • Diego!

I hate those white shoes but she looks fierce as sh*t!

    • Indovina

The dress doesn’t seem to fit her well, but I’m not sure that I’d love it even if it did. White pumps are also no good in this situation (whether they ever are, I leave aside).

I love her eye makeup, at least or especially in picture 2, but in picture 4, where the sparkly metallic aspect is more visually prominent, less so.

    • Kiltdntiltd

And boy howdy does that particular tone of gray do her a solid!

      • Mismarker

That gray doing all kinds of good things for her but the dress itself looks cheap to me. Like she just stepped out of the clothing section of a VS catalogue.

        • Kiltdntiltd

A great example of how important fit is. If it fits properly, an off the rack garment can look expensive, but an expensive garment can look cheap if it fits badly.

          • Tatiana Luján

I find that hole above her boobs to be quite tacky, no matter how well the dress could fit her.

            • Kiltdntiltd

Its all part of the illusion netting, cutouts, sheer skirts and panels “thing” we are working through. Hopefully it will die an unlamented death very soon.

            • Tatiana Luján

Hopefully. I hope plastic shoes and stripper platforms die with it too.

            • SRQkitten

Here’s hoping! Ms. Naya looks like she’s serving up Jlo-Jr fierceness!

            • Mismarker

That hole paired with the animal print is what took this into ticky tacky territory for me, too. It would look cheap to me even if it fit her better.

        • RebeccaKW

I agree, it looks like one of those dresses from the hoochie stores at the mall. The Body Shop, etc. Where the most expensive item is 24.99 and all jewelry is buy 2 get 1 free.

          But her head is amazing.

          • Mismarker

Yes! I neglected to mention she looks great *in spite* of the dollar bin dress! I mean, c’mon. She’s a total babe.

            • RebeccaKW

Exactly. She’s making that dress look good.

    • Laurie Landry

Werq! It looks like she has her personal wind machine along.

      • annabelle archer

        She’s like a baby JLo.

    • butterflysunita

She looks beautiful but that dress doesn’t fit at all. Can’t even comment on the shoes.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

It seems as I stand alone, but I can’t get past the part around her neck. Forgive me…

    • lobsterlen

I hate this dress. Did she buy this dress from Fredrick’s of Hollywood? The shoes are horrible.

    • Jio

i feel like if you photoshop lea michele’s face here, it’d totally fit perfectly as well XD just coz of the hair

    • Donna Tabor

That looks more like a Narciso Rodriquez than a Monique Lhuillier, doesn’t it?

    • Sara Munoz Munoz

I don’t think the quibbles make her any less hot. ; ) DAYUM girl! She knows it too!

    • Jaeda Laurez

Her extensions could use a little more blending (I don’t understand how Hollywood stars pay hundreds of dollars for weaves and yet, you could get the lady at the swap meet to eyeball a better blend), but I like the style. It’s all very “I’m the sexy girlfriend” (she’s actually accompanying Big Sean, even though he’s not pictured here), so I respect what she was doing, fit issues aside.

Please tell me we aren’t bringing back white pumps in 2013.

    • In_Stitches

The main problem in my mind’s eye is the overly aggressive princess seaming. It’s designed to give the wearer more of a curvy silhouette, but more often then not it makes them look thick waisted.

    • cmb123

I think white shoes make anyone and everyone look elderly

    • conniemd

Not only does dress not fit well, in the close-up views the material looks cheap. Also think grey is boring on this woman who should wear vibrant colors.

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

Yeah, the shoes actually bring the look down. But my oh my she looks pretty in her angel hair.

    • Janet B

At first glance she looks fantastic, but alas the dress doesn’t fit well and her shoes…ack!

    • foodycatAlicia

Is metallic hair mascara back or does she have some weird highlights in? She looks amazing even if the dress looks cheap.

      • filmcricket

Coloured extensions, I believe. I’m surprised that that little pop of burgundy suits her so well, but I guess with a face like that it’d be hard to make her look actually bad.

    • MoreShoes

What’s the deal with the bridal shoes? I love her hair though.

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

You don’t have to oppose the white pump. I will oppose it for you.

    • JWC

Don’t pay attention to them Naya, you look incredible!!

    • BrooklynBomber

She looks fabulous, yet I hate the dress. Put another way, I hate the dress, yet she looks fabulous.

    • flamingoNW

      Girl crush….

    • SapphoPoet

Love her hair (also her eyeliner) but the dress is aging. Let us not mention the white pumps.

    • kmk05

Your thumbnail actually looks like a painting. I’m floored. The face, the hair, and the relatively non-offending white pump (IMHO) make this WERQ for me. Mostly her face.

    • girliecue

Whoever picked her bra out should immediately be given every award ever because her boobs are absolute perfection. I’m actually applauding the cutout instead of lambasting it because they frame her spectacular orbs so beautifully.

And although I own white sandals and mules, white pumps are an abomination against womenkind. It even says so in the Bible. Yes, it does. In the Book of Leviathian, of course. ;p

      • filmcricket

I am 95% sure her cleavage was not designed by nature. There was a mini-plot on Glee a couple of seasons ago about Santana getting a boob job that I don’t think was just pulled out of thin air. However, what you just said remains true. Even if they’re not real, they’re spectacular.

        • girliecue

Totally forgot about that! It was so long ago, back when Glee was entertaining…..

    • its complicated

she would’ve looked great with a gold nose ring! that third photo with a shadow on the side of her nose gave that impression.

    • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

Killer look. A couple of those shots look like she brought a wind machine with, to top off the perfection. The fit is off, yes. Needs altering, not a different size.

    • jetpackdino

This girl has the power of pretty on her side though. The dress isn’t perfect and the shoes are regrettable, but her beauty is still burning through the lens.

    • marlie

Hair and makeup look fantastic. I don’t like the (subtle) vertical lines on the dress though. And Not just “white shoes?”, but “THESE white shoes??”

      • l_c_ann

Some of the seams are interesting, shame it had no seam allowances to allow for making it wider in her hips.

    • j_anson

I just can’t with tit window dresses. But it’s… a nice color?

    • tereliz

She also appears to have brought her own wind. Girl came prepared! But, yeah, the shoes are kinda boring and the dress is just okay.

    • MilaXX

I hate that white pumps are becoming a thing now. Look is okay, but those shoes are a “No”.

    • Imasewsure

I hate white pumps except on naughty nurses… she’s beautiful though even with the fit issues (and those damn shoes)

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

The dress is pretty but needed to be fitted better. All that gorgeous face and hair though…wowsers!

    • jmorino08

God, I would KILL for that hair… and that body… and that face… and whatever wind machine she has following her around. Perfection (from the ankles up)!!!

    • rloliveira

Is there anyone who can explain to me why this hair is “real” and not cocker spaniel hair? I can’t see the difference. Honestly.

      • MrsJoe

I believe cocker spaniel hair is generally used when the hair is really flat on top and then all of a sudden poofs at the bottom (usually due to extensions). Hers seems to have enough layers and volume in it to poof top to bottom, thus disqualifying.

        • rloliveira

          Thank you, oh wise one.

    • Adrianna Grężak

This is very 1990s to me.

    • Trisha26

The entire look is very cocktail lounge hostess at a place called “The Snake Room.”

    • gracedarling

She looks like a sexy block of cement.

    • Frank Lithium

    • silaria

ZOMG! Power Girl’s boob window is now a real thing! All she needs is a cape!

    • Mary Lauer

      Love her eye makeup.
