Kelly Rowland in Izmaylova

Posted on April 23, 2013

It occurs to us that we probably give Miss Kelly the “WERQ!” treatment more than any other single ladystar. And it also occurs to us that we may have built up a sort of Pavlovian response now and immediately start snapping and neck rolling every time we encounter a picture of her. So in the interests of not objectifying a sister and not lapsing into cliche, we will only note in a dignified manner how impressed we are, both that her pants are properly hemmed so we can see her lovely shoes, and that…

Kelly Rowland attends the 2013 GLAAD Media Awards in an Izmaylova white matte silk tuxedo-inspired jumpsuit paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.

Izmaylova Spring 2013 ‘Daisy’ Jumpsuit

Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Highness’ Pump

SHE’S ROCKING A WHITE JUMPSUIT WITH SHEER PANELS, FOR GOD’S SAKE.

And now, we will go somewhere private, where we may quietly say “werq” and lightly snap our fingers and roll our necks and no one can see us. Sorry. It needs to be expressed. Like breast milk.

She looks fabulous. But I don’t like the booms. That is all.

  • jerseyginger

    Stripper shoes.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Good strippers can WERQ it, trust me.

      • jerseyginger

Oh, I know. Just saying those are straight up stripper shoes, only missing some lucite.

        • Melizmatic

But that’s what separates Lou-Lous from actual stripper shoes, (along with the signature red sole, of course.)

It take more than just death-defying height to make a stripper heel…

It takes a certain tackiness that only lucite can provide.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=811053804 Stacy Parker Cole

    If that’s not a WERQ I don’t know what is! :-D

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

The shoes are awful. I’m still not sold on jumpsuits, but this one does look nice on her. However, I do want to take a few millimeters off the booms. They’re driving me crazy.

  • AnneElliot

Hate the sheer panels. And those shoes are cray cray — when will this trend for uber-platforms be over??

But it’s true, Kelly Rowland can rock just about anything. Bowing down!

  • eowyn_of_rohan

“It needs to be expressed. Like breast milk.” I might as well go home and go to bed, because I won’t read anything better all day.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      agreed

    • DebbieLovesShoes

We’ll never be able to put together a sentence as clever as that. *sigh*. But at least we have our beloved Tom and Lorenzo for that.

  • MartyBellerMask

If my ass looked like that, I would probably stand with my back to the camera all the time, too.

    • Carly Warnock

That was my first reaction. Her ass looks so good. Sigh. To the gym I go!

  • Donyelle Marshall

That’s how you get the bills paid!

  • AndresB

Vulgar shoes, bangs too long which enlarges lower lip and chin to gargantuan proportions, and those eye holes in the top remind me of an Alien mask – no, it’s not a werq, so thank you uncles!
Would actually love to see the ‘tuxedo-inspired’ jumpsuit with a black tuxedo jacket.

    • http://twitter.com/DarthJaeda Jaeda Laurez

      “gargantuan proportions?” I mean…word?

  • Meg0GayGuys6

I think most of it is her attitude, not the clothes. I think this outfit is crazy; shoes are fug and you said it- it’s a white jumpsuit with sheer panels.

    • gabbilevy

Right? I hate almost every piece individually (and her booms are making me sad) but all together, through some voodoo, it werqs.

      • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Booms? I think I’ve been away too long.

I’m pretty much with you. I despise jumpsuits, the sheer panels are tacky, and the shoes are insane. But the only issue I have is that the shoes are white. I just can’t with white shoes. I’ll still give her a WERQ though.

        • AuntHo

Booms = 30 lb bangs with those weird sidestrings (I think). Her bod is amazing and she looks great, but I’d be so happy if she’d pull the hair all back for once. This bang style is just so aggressively unflattering to gorgeous faces (Biel: YRSTPD.).

    • drdarke

Yeah, @Meg0GayGuys6:disqus – but she makes it look great!

How is that even possible? It looks better on her than it does on the model….

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

The shoes are killing my soul. But man, does she make an impossible-to-wear garment work.

  • http://www.facebook.com/conysoledad Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

I don’t like it, it looks weird and those are stripper shoes all the way. But Kelly is so freaking fabulous it doesn’t matter. You rock, girl!!

  • BuffaloBarbara

It’s a jumpsuit with a tuxedo stripe. All props for being able to not make it look like a complete joke, but it is what it is.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

The sheer panels are distracting and unnecessary and the shoes are stripperiffic, and the bangs are too boom. Definitely not a werq. Would I kill to look this good in all white? Hell yes.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

      Amen, sistah!

    • barbarienne

So glad to see everyone else is having the same reaction to those panels. Distracting and weird. A combination of kangaroo pocket and access panel for her boobs.

  • Janet B

Ms. Rowland (or her stylist) has an amazing ability to pick clothes that suit her perfectly.
I dislike the shoes, a lot.

  • http://twitter.com/DarthJaeda Jaeda Laurez

I love everything except the sheer panels. If you are going to wear a jumpsuit, it should fit like this. Or you should be in a pool like Fan BingBing. And brown girls in white>>>>

    • Introspective

WORD. her skin looks incredible. So here for her cause of that alone. bitch is glowing and she knows it. She somehow rocked a whole lot of hateful elements in one outfit.

      keep being fab Kelly.

  • mmc2315

I am so relieved there is no exposed zipper on the butt. As I was scrolling down, I felt fear.

    • alyce1213

I’ve prayed for the return of the invisible zipper; also darts on the inside of the garment.

  • ashtangajunkie

It’s a rare woman who can make a white jumpsuit with sheer panels look good, but she’s it. Always love her makeup too.

  • Kristy Evans

I think I shall quote the modern poet Chris Bridges and say “All white top/all white belt/all white jeans/body looking like MILK.”

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Her arms and booty are werq’ing for sure. The outfit, the hair…not so much.

  • Sobaika

Why is the hem sweeping the floor with the model? Is it meant to look like that??

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I shouldn’t like this. I know I shouldn’t like this. White jumpsuit. Booms. Starshine Stripper shoes. Sheer panels, for heaven’s sake. And yet…I too am quietly snapping my fingers. She really makes it all shine.

    • RebeccaKW

Yes, this is Kelly’s garment. Anyone else that is offered this or thinks about buying it, should just say no, for no one else will look this good.

  • schadenfreudelicious

i cannot sign off on white, mary-jane, snakeskin, open toed, stripper hooves…..can not….

    • j_anson

Yeah, those are not… good. I like the rest of it, though.

    • Louise Bryan

I actually saw someone wearing a pair of platform pumps yesterday at my local *bux. I was wondering if they were strictly for photos, or for actual wearing. BTW, they look just as weird in real life. I don’t care for them.

    • pop_top

I only appreciate them because regular shoes would have been covered by the pants and then she’d look footless like the model.

Of course, hemming could address that, but what do I know about celebrity style choices.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Hate the sheer panels, wish the booms were 1/4 inch shorter. But she does WERQ it. I want Shelly O to get something similar when Obama leaves the White House.

  • http://twitter.com/SingingPhoenixD Jennifer Bober

Whenever I become depressed by the lack of wit in writing today, I can always turn to TLo for a pick me up. She does look fabulous. I must give her props for being able to stand, let alone walk in those shoes. I could never wear them…granted, no one would want me to because it would make me about 6’8″, but that’s another story.

  • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

She’s WERQing it, and you know it. One of Kelly’s secrets is also FACE. Girl always looks flawless in that department.

    • trixietru

Wholeheartedly agree. Could do with a lot more Kelly and a bit less Beyonce these days.

  • nannypoo

Beautiful. The shoes work only with this outfit. I hope never to see them again.

    • BrooklynBomber

      Ha! Great line.

  • Tatiana Luján

She’s rocking the jumpsuit, but the shoes are abomination.

  • SewingSiren

Oh boy. White jumpsuit with gold jewelry can go Palm Springs retirement fast. But she’s a werq’n it. Expressed breast milk.

  • http://twitter.com/Bloodisea Barbora

    “Werq!” she silently whispered.

  • Deedles

I, sadly, cannot un-see all of the makeup on the neck of the jumpsuit. Ugh.

  • MilaXX

I love this look. Not too many could make this work

  • myristica_fragrans

yes to everything except those damn platforms. can people just wear normal shoes again?

  • ballerinawithagun

If Charlize would have been wearing this jumpsuit in black then Charlize would have been perfect also. This is the way a halter should fit! Good things the shoes are mostly covered.
Just remembered, I have to trim my bangs today. How can they stand it? Mine are just a little too long and they are driving me crazy!!!

  • another_laura

Girl can wear clothes. Even this. But this is a stunt actress on a closed road. Lady stars, don’t try this at home….

  • Lilyana_F

Miss Kelly works her magic again, I see! Kudos, girl, THIS is how it’s done!

  • stubbornthoughts

I’d say Kelly, Solange, Tilda, Queen Mirren, Charlize, and Gwen Stefani are the most consistent WERQs – and justifiably so. They’re certified P.h.D. lady stars. Miss Rowland makes no exception here. She’s simply fab.

  • formerlyAnon

“It needs to be expressed. Like breast milk.”

Y’all are having too much fun. I am wondering if this chipper attitude is building to some amazing post, or if it’s just a nice sunny day after a week of gloom.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

    DAYUM, LOOK AT THAT ASS

  • annrr

Love her, without the booms and it would have been a werq for me. and a snap

  • http://twitter.com/Glam_Dixie Glam Dixie

The hair ruins it for me, and the hooves, I mean shoes are kinda hiddy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

Those shoes are horrifying. My monocle actually popped out.

  • Tracy_Flick

I think she looks amazing. I can’t stop staring at how fab that jumpsuit looks. I don’t mind the shoes or the hair so much, overall, she knocked it out of the park.

  • Imasewsure

With different hair this would have been WERQ territory too… hard not to love her

  • Rand Ortega

I hate every single element of this look. & it’s a WERQ.
Kelly Rowland, when you & your alien overlords conquer us, be gentle.

  • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

I need those shoes more than I need air.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=14301272 Kate Gorton

Girl can work a garment. Yes, she makes good choices, but I think the attitude is a huge part of the WERQ equation, if I’ve been reading this site closely enough :) She commits like no other.

  • Qitkat

I must be out of it today, as I looked at the whole post and comments, all the while thinking this was Kerry Washington. Who, IMO, would look just as fabulous as Miss Kelly in this jumpsuit.

Is the world coming to an end, two jumpsuits in one day two days in a row that look so flattering?
(I’m a little behind.) No, strike that too. I’m a big behind. Kelly is(has) a fabulous, perfect behind.

  • lalahartma

    Yuck. This is fugly.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I never thought I’d say this about someone wearing a white jumpsuit with sheer panels, and mile-high white platform heels, but she looks GREAT! I need to find a reason to wear white tuxedo pants.

  • the_valkyrie

I think the only coherent thing I can say after that is this – DAT ASS

  • Beverly Kozma

About that hair: if your name is not Chrissie Hynde, I do not want to see those bangs on you. ANY of you. Those shoes are the devil’s work, but Kelly is truly blessed in the looks and figure departments.

  • e jerry powell

That center seam in the back is not cute. It seems like the top is impossible to fit to anyone.

Also, can we talk about the lack of contrast in the look as a whole? I’d make a comment about stars wearing looks “off the rack,” styled essentially as they were presented on the runway or in the look book, but this particular ensemble pretty much defies any other styling options.

  • http://www.facebook.com/pamela.hunt.796 Pamela Hunt

Weren’t those shoes used for torture during the Spanish Inquisition?? She IS rocking that jumpsuit, tho’.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Can I express it for you? The WERQ? Not the breast milk.

  • Guest

I actually saw someone wearing a pair of platform pumps yesterday at my local *bux. I was wondering if they were strictly for photos, or for actual wearing. BTW, they look just as weird in real life.

  • Trisha26

Expressed like b—– m— Ewwwh. I will never get that out of my head

  • demidaemon

Her ass looks FINE. And that’s coming from a gay man.

  • Eneri Zerasac

You’re all crazy. This looks like the polyester outfits the poor flag girls have to wear at the Rose Parade. Take a deep breath and settle down.

  • kathrineb

    The hair is not good.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998855370 Fatima Siddique

Ummm….nope. This is all too J Lo for me.

  • guest2visits

Very pretty from the front, and I like the shoes with it. The upper portion of the back bothers me for some reason.
