I WANT those shoes on the Mulberry model. Want, want, want.

    • http://twitter.com/hmbscully WendyD

Lose the collar and substitute a different bold necklace, then we can talk.

    • http://twitter.com/ashleynalvarez Ashley Alvarez

Accessories! Where are your accessories at, child???

    • Vickiefantastico

I really, really hate that collar.

      • Aly Light

I love it and want to own it.

        • VioletFem

          Peter pan collars rock.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I might be on board with this if it weren’t for that collar. But as it is… NO. And the shoes don’t work in her favor. But her makeup is nice – her eyes looks beautiful here. She could use some color on her lips, though.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Just when you thought the hoof-shoe couldn’t get any uglier…

      • drdarke

Did she borrow those shoes from Maisie Williams – or does any young actress in Hollywood one one pair of clunky putty-colored high heels…?

    • In_Stitches

This doesn’t work with my perception of who she is. She’s the cool girl who smokes weed under the bleachers, not the girl who used to be religious, but now enjoys one night stands with some strange, but doesn’t want her family to find out. On second thought….

      • drdarke

Too bad, Guest – because the outfit she was wearing for the HOUSE OF CARDS screening in Washington, DC looks smashing in comparison to this.

On its own, that Washington outfit is still a damned fine ensemble that makes her look like an attractive young woman, rather than a teenager who got dragged by her parents to an event she’s so not dressed for.

      • ankali

This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I much prefer her in stuff that plays up her hard edges.

    • Spicytomato1

Twee as all get out. I love it. Except for the shoes.

      • Qitkat

HA! I thought that this redefined Twee to a whole new Tweeness. And I hate it. All. ;-)

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      SHUT UP, FORMAL SHORTS!

      • drdarke

Yes, @Space_Kitty:disqus – I guess shorts are now A Thing on the Red Carpet…?

Can we take up a donation to kill it before it spreads?

        • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Imma start a prayer circle and a kickstarter and that’s before discussing her makeup.

    • http://twitter.com/1tsplove sara

NO. The fabric looks those gross quilt-robes Betty (and now Megan) sport on Mad Men, the harsh eye makeup does not go with the easter colors of the rest of the ensemble, the shoes contribute nothing, and the hair is insultingly bad.

    • unbornfawn

She ruined it with that collar and the nude hoofs.

    • http://twitter.com/skitzfiggitous skitzfiggitous

It’s good to see Maria Von Trapp’s keeping her sewing skills up-to-date. Also: DIE SHOES DIE, and I don’t mean “the shoes, the.”

Poorly tailored shorts; don’t look good on the model, don’t look good on Kate. It takes skill to make Kate look less than heavenly.

    • alyce1213

Hideous ick from the neck down.
Old lady print, baggy shorts, hoof shoes.
The only thing I like is the collar, which should be attached to an entirely different outfit — for a 9-year-old maybe.
      Money can’t buy you taste.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I’m mesmerized by her eyes, it took me a minute to assess the entire look.
Overall, it’s fine-ish. It’s very her, I think. I don’t like the collar, but I get it’s to contrast the fact this could have been a ladies leisure suite from a decade long passed. I appreciate that the shorts aren’t vulgarly short. I can’t help but wish for a better shoe and some fun jewelry though. It’s nice to see the little smile too.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Same here. I like it, but the whole look needs work.

    • bellafigura1

I like it … the short are just terribly big. I think if they were a narrower profile and better fitting this would be adorable (of course, the shoes suck and the topknot is problematic). And wow, those eyes! Is that color natural?

    • MilaXX

prefer the model version. I hate that peter pan collar

    • http://twitter.com/floretbroccoli Florrie Brafman

I loved listening to The Duchess and The Boy discussing, on last night’s PR finale, whom they could imagine wearing Michelle’s clothes. Specifically, Rooney Mara.

    • Little_Olive

I kinda don’t get the point of wearing the same on top and bottom if it’s not a dress.

Anyhoodle… It’s cute but I could see it in a little girl, which the collar fails to fix; and the fabric is a bit bedcover-y.

      So no.

    • jmorino08

      Twee-dle-dee-twee!

    • Cathy S

I wish she’d take her hands out of the pockets. The way she’s holding them out, they look terrible. But maybe if they weren’t sticking out like that I’d like them better. I can’t tell.

ETA: I do like the top though.

    • jw_ny

      ok…now this girl is 15 years old…right!? ;)

      • drdarke

To my shock, @jw_ny:disqus – Kate Mara’s thirty years old.

        I guess she’s like David Spade – she’ll look like she’s twelve until she’s in her Forties….

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

She took Grannie’s house coat and made it into a shorts set.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I thought they were Granny’s curtains. Or couch cover. (Though I do still sort of like it.)

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1594250515 Kim Brightman

From my seat in the audience at the event, she looked great on stage. Very fresh – perfect for Spring.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aliza.mansolino Aliza Mansolino

Her make-up has gone beyond “smoky eye” into “consumptive” territory. Also, only Peggy from Mad Men should be permitted to wear a Peter Pan collar.

    • barbarienne

What the fuck is that around her neck? It’s like a project I made in Girl Scouts when I was 12.

    • lobsterlen

WTF is with 12 year old pixy posing? I know she is tiny thing but she is grown woman. Hands out of pockets and no pigeon toes.

    • crash1212

Those are some alien eyes right there. Haaaaaaate the shoes. Not crazy about the rest of it either. Is that neck thingy something she bought at a craft store and just decided to sling around her neck? This out fit has the crazy.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

If we have to do formal shorts they HAVE to be tailored. These couch-fabric boxers will not do at all.

    • Carly Warnock

Don’t like the collar and those weird gems. Reminds me of a bedazzler. Absolutely OBSESSED with House of Cards though.

    • Tracy_Flick

I think it would work better with a different bottom – a skirt, or pants, or even different shorts. It’s too matchy and twee the way it is. Not terrible, but not really great.

    • Tracy_Flick

Oh, and the shoes are hiddy.

    • smallgirlsaretrouble

That eye makeup is way too heavy for this look, although her eyes themselves are beautiful

    • decormaven

VBS craft collar and putty pumps. Aaaerrghhh…..

    • conniemd

I have a cat with the same orange colored eyes.

    • nannypoo

I’m not sure what would be an appropriate occasion for this outfit, but for some reason I find I like it. Not with these shoes or this eye makeup, but it’s oddly cute.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=720582671 William Thill

Don’t care one bit what she’s Wearing. She SHUTS IT DOWN on House of Cards. She’s the best part of the show, among a flurry of good actors. She can wear WHATEVA she wants.

    • TheAmericaness

      This outfit gives me gas.

    • H2olovngrl

I think the one on the model would’ve worked better with Kate’s coloring.

    • http://www.facebook.com/abby.t.tucker Abby Turner Tucker

This feels nostalgic but in a bad way. The whole thing looks like ‘I wear yo grandmas clothes, I look incredible.’

    • demidaemon

I’m glad she didn’t wear the original peach version. That said, I still think it is hideous, unflattering, and poorly accessorized.

    • Anniebet

Dang, clodhopper nude pumps are still with us? And is she really wearing contacts lenses to match her eye color to her hair color? Oh well, she’s cute, and talented.

    • Cousin_Rose

Looks like Stanley made it but he would have used a better fabric.

    • librarygrrl64

      No. Just, no.

    • lesmaha

      Romper room.

    • Trisha26

Not a fan of the shorts-outfit in general, but plus the Peter Pan collar? Twee-city.

    • GorgeousThings

Mulberry makes beautiful bags. I want one of their bags.

And that’s all I have to say about Mulberry.

    • ms_kat

Why is the nap on the top a different direction than the nap on the formal shorts? Sloppy.

    • TheDivineMissAnn

Her hair color and eye color match!

    • guest2visits

She’s very pretty but this short set just looks so old, so tired.

    • Kristy Evans

As the great T-Lo have said, this is Twee As Fuck. No ma’am.
