It looks cute to me and I’m a bit of a sucker for going absolute floral, but I’m not sure the hair and makeup are doing it justice.

  • formerlyAnon

SOMEbody’s got to wear such things, right? Or poor starving designers will have their mortgages foreclosed upon them? And Ms. Gwyneth is able to look good in clothes mere mortals cannot.

The cape/stole/collar thing which must have a name, though I don’t know it, is trying to elevate this from an overly floral pants suit, and half-succeeds.

  • jmorino08

Looks like fancy pajamas with a micro-cape. Fug!

    • Griffinqueen

I keep trying to find the words for this review, but when I reach the phrase “pointy-shouldered capelet”, my cognitive functions shut down.

    • drdarke

Gwynnie, sweetie? Blythe Danner called – she said, “You bring the guest bedroom coverlet home right now, Young Lady!”

Great Merciful Gods and Goddesses, is that outfit unfortunate….

  • alyce1213

I love the colorful flowers and a she’s taking a risk here with a pantsuit in such fabric, but it’s not really doing anything for me.

Maybe I just can’t get past her hair, WHICH MUST BE CUT, recolored and deeply, deeply conditioned.

Same goes for Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston, etc. Can’t really look at any clothes with too-long, fried hair.

I kinda like it, just not sure I like it on Gwen. I think she might have done better with a solid bottom.

    • Amanda Bauch

To me, it’s on the wrong Gwen. I feel like if you threw this getup on Gwen Stefani, with her signature red lipstick and some kickass accessories, then you’d really have something. Paltrow seems way too milquetoast to pull this off.

But at least her legs are covered for a change, so there’s that…

      • MilaXX

        Exactly! It’s Not Her Jumpsuit.

    • ankali

I think a solid top. I could get on board with the pants, but not this head-to-toe ridiculosity.

  • Claire Benedict

    Oh wow. That takes guts

  • Big old shocker… I kind of love this. Her hair looks like straw, and she barely put on makeup, but I love this outfit.

  • Beardslee

A nice spring outfit that a long drink of water like her sets off nicely.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Wow! That is a whole lot of floral! I’m not sure those 2 pieces were intended to be worn together anywhere but on the runway, but she is pretty much carrying it off.

  • I would love to see the pants in a real life setting. Skinny, with a fab T and a sexy heeled sandal.
Here it’s just too much and too Gwyn. Here we all were lamenting jump suits, and wishing most of them came in separates, and then here’s a separates I just want to pair with other things.

  • tereliz

Ugh. The same print on all three pieces is just a little too too. And the cape, yikes. I know capes are her bag, but what happens when you lift your arms up?

Plus, the fit in the top of the pants is NOT RIGHT. The pockets sag and add a THIRD horizontal line beneath the seam and hem of the top which is just where ladies want to emphasize the horizontal aspect, amirite?

I like the shoulder detail on the cape and MAYBE if she’d paired it and the top with black pants and like an oxblood leather pointy-toed pump, AND wore lipstick, AND had unGOOPy hair and a smoky eye instead of that half-assed eyeliner…

    • AudreysMom

good analysis. Really, I appreciate that detail- it helps me know what all just seems wrong about this. Mostly to me, it’s too busy and makes her hips look big.

  • PastryGoddess

I have that song “look at me now” in my head

  • filmcricket

I kind of love it? There’s maybe a bit too much going on with that top, but the pattern’s so busy you don’t really notice. And her face looks great – decided to put on makeup for once, did we?

  • MissusBee

    Pepper Potts’ madcap-yet-adorable sister: ‘Flower’.

  • nannypoo

I hate the fabric and there’s way too much of it.

  • Snailstsichr

I join my fellow BKs in being a little shocked that I really like this. You work that flower insanity, Goop!

  • jetpackdino

I was about to hate this look completely, but I gotta give props for that neckline. I do like that, at least.

The print looks so atrocious on that red carpet though. Holy Hannahballs, please can we never ever see that again? I agree with Claire Benedict, that print took guts to wear.

And the hair. I have said it a thousand times on this board, that hair is just hairrible. I need a new word to describe it. I want some social-scientist types to come up with some theory, some explanation, something to help me understand the WHY of that hair. At this point there MUST be a reason, some kind of “hair objective” and I feel like I deserve to know what it is.

  • Aurumgirl

  • Imasewsure

    I love this on her

  • stubbornthoughts

Mad respect for Gwenie right here, she’s is working the shit out of this. I must say this is a WERQ to me, based purely off its difficulty.

  • TAGinMO

    I’m FIFTY! {leg kick}

    • Hey, I’m 50 and I wouldn’t wear that until I was at least 80! LOL

  • maggiemaybe

Too bad it’s not a dress because the top part is kind of cute. Also, hot oil treatment STAT!

  • newtonGOTbeaned

I kinda wish she had worn a simple top with the pants. The outfit is working surprisingly well as-is, but a simpler top would have highlighted how great her legs look.

  • marilyn

This is sad. A soccer mom outfit. It is not really flattering for her, since it makes her hips look a little thick. And you KNOW she does not have one ounce of fat on that perfectly toned and exercised body.

  • BORING! Aren’t there interesting people to talk about?

  • crash1212

That’s a lot of look, but I think she’s pulling it off.

  • kmk05

Caped tapestry! I love its ridiculousness. Can’t deny she wears it well.

  • unbornfawn

Wow. That’s a lot of that print. A little goes a long way.

  • AmeliaLouisa

  • Curious3D

She looks like a fruit salad with hair.

  • It’s very strange and the print is asinine.

  • Rick

    Lilly Pulitzer, RIP.

  • MissAmynae

One of those looks that would never work in the US, but it’s smashing for Paris.

I like it! Hooray for Color!!

  • Anniebet

Yikes. I can’t improve on the fruit salad comment so I won’t try.

  • Trisha26

That is a LOT of look, especially with that “granny’s afghan” print. I just get the feeling she makes absolutely no effort – free garment that fits, no makeup to speak of, no hairstyle.

  • Lori

I’m pretty sure there’s no reason for that cape thing to exist and I think I’d like both the top and the bottom better paired with other things, but I’m can’t hate this. I think I’m just so relieved that she’s not trying to make the world her gynecologist that I can’t get worked up about the outfit’s problems. I am completely clear on the fact that she needs to do something about her hair though.

  • Top or pants, not both.

  • cowper

Laura Ashley meets Freddy Kruger! Run for your lives!

  • Little_Olive

Oh my, her feet are freaking me out there in the second picture. It’s like she’ll fall over.

This is weirdly meh and too much at the same time. All while also being wrong for her face and hair (I now appreciate the photoshop in the last magazine cover we discussed -yikes).

  • BigGirlDownNow

    Fire your stylist girl!

  • quiltrx

Girl, I hate you, and this is NOT your outfit.

  • Rroxy

I hate her Pepper Potts. She’s such a pretentious, entitled “assistant”.

  • Louise Bryan

I was thinking how pretty she looks, until I scrolled down and saw the pants, which turned a cute top into an eye-searing mess. Kind of like an extremely busy jumpsuit that is potty friendly, but ugly as sin. What a shame. And, btw, where’s the Tesla ball that’s making her hair stand up.

  • fursa_saida

Weirdly for me, I think I wish she’d have kept the pants and gone with a simpler, solid-colored top. Usually I’d do it the other way around.

  • ankali

Sweet Jeebus, what is she doing?

  • She needs those flowers so she can’t smell the crap constantly falling from her mouth

  • demidaemon

Gwyneth has attempted to sear our ears with her words and now she is going for our eyes with this suit. Please have mercy!

  • E. D.

Atrocious. The whole thing. And that hair needs some time off from being straight and blonde.

  • lobsterlen

I don’t mind the print it is just too much of it. The pant suit shape is very flattering and well tailored but that all that print is blinding. Just the top with solid colored pants and you would have been able to appreciate the print and fabric. I actually love that dogwood flower pattern very Asian. Top with midnight blue pants and it may have been a WERQ well that and if she does something with that stringy hair.

  • I can’t tell what I’m looking at here. Is that a capelet? If so, I kind of like it. I don’t think I would as much if it were only two pieces. Or goodness though- might it be a jumpsuit? Ooh, I hope not. Best not think too hard. I like it, let’s leave it before I change my mind. 🙂

  • Diego!

OMG I’m throwing up butterflies and flowers O_O

  • Sunraya

Poor Gwynnie – wearing a pantsuit in Paris. The woman as been through SO MUCH!!!

  • andreawey

what’s with the big pointy shoulders………am I the only one confused by that?

    • tereliz

It’s a “wrap” made of a rectangular piece of fabric, so the shape it forms as it envelopes her shoulders and closes across her chest is creating a dramatic angle. If you look closely you can see how open it is at the top.

      • andreawey

Oh, now I see, I thought it was just some out of control shoulder pads;)

  • At first glance I thought that they’d just done something interesting with the shoulders. Still, even with the micro-cape(?)/ fitted shawl (?), I kind of like the look. Could take or leave her though.

  • I like the pantsuit but it’s wearing her…she can’t handle that much print. Also, what is up with her hair? It’s time to give up these bleached blonde granola styles and fix that up…it always looks awful like it’s an afterthought for her.

  • She’s a Project Runway challenge come to life: “Visual Representation of Bohemian Raffia 80’s Floridian Chic.” There’s just too much going on everywhere. AND CUT YOUR DAMN HAIR.

  • butter nut

i LOVE this outfit, but i hate it on her.

  • guest2visits

Too much… the silhouette is very nice but the print looks like wallpaper. Loud, harsh, wallpaper.

  • did no one have the heart to tell the poor woman she inadvertently grabbed her jammies instead of her actual, you know, clothes?

  • elemspbee

Cute outfit. really cute. I especially love the pointed, space-age shoulders. I appreciate the attempt here to combine the flowery-springy print with futuristic shoulders design.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She knows she looks ridiculous. Look at her expression. UGH.

  • solange would rock the hell out of this.
paltrow doesnt look bad exactly, but she does look a little ridiculous.
