Emmy Rossum in Temperley London

Posted on April 02, 2013

Let’s start the day off with something pretty and uncomplicated while we mainline caffeine and wait for our hearts to start.

Emmy? Come on out here. Don’t be shy, girl.

Emmy Rossum attends the ‘Lucky Guy’ Broadway Opening Night in New York City in a Temperley London dress.

Temperley London Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Lina Zhang

That dress is so cute that we suspect there will be some squeeing in the comments section. It’s just a perfect little modern take on a classic Betty Draper-style dress. Those icy blues look great on her and we love the deployment of the silver pump for an accent.

Unfortunately, we think that hair is totally wrong for the dress and it required something a little sleeker. Then the “clean” makeup would work better. As it is, her face looks underdone.

Still: cute, right? Are you squeeing like a dolphin right now?

totally squeeing like a dolphin. i want that!

    • Catiline

Gorgeous dress, but the hair offends me mightily.

    • Kappyapp

definitely an adorable dress, but I agree – her hair isn’t right at all for this. Pulled up & sleek would have been perfect

    • DaveUWSNYC

      My blowhole’s agape.

      • hmariec19

        Hahahahahahhahaha. Comment of the day.

      • Sobaika

        Sounds naughty.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

        Bwah hah hah hah!!!!

Ha! Won’t somebody PLEASE think of the children!

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

        there’s a salve for that.

    • nannypoo

      Woof. Great dress though.

    • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

Squeeeee! There, are you happy? I love the dress!

    • BuffaloBarbara

No dolphin-squees, but it’s definitely a cute little dress. I’m not overly fussed about the hair, but yeah, it’s a little bit of a mismatch. The dress seems to reference a more coiffed era.

    • girliecue

Somewhere in England Cathy Cambridge is cussing out the Royal Fetus because she can’t wear this gorgeous frock for another 3 months.

      • gabbilevy

Dunno, I bet Cathy could have Temperley London make her a custom-fitted version with an appropriately belly-friendly waist… she could wear it with a pretty coordinated cardigan as the weather warms up.

    • Sobaika

Perfect little dress tempered by mediocre hair and makeup. You can do better, Emmy.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

I love, crave, and covet the dress. And I don’t even mind the hair — more polished and to me it would have been too literally Betty Draper.

    • Jessi03

I want that dress. So very badly. I hate the cocker spaniel hair and I think the high-end bridesmaid shoes are silly but effective, I suppose. At the end of the day, though….I want that dress.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Isn’t this sweet? She looks lovely. I actually like the soft, undone hair with the barely there make up. Keeps the whole thing very day time and dressy casual.

      • http://profiles.google.com/ameliaheartsu Amelia Logan

I like her hair, I just wish it was all in her face, that’s weird.

        • kmk05

Definitely! If she were walking with most of it behind her shoulders, it would be perfect. As it is, I quite like it anyways.

      • Janet B

Very daytime, luncheon event ready. Aren’t “opening night” events usually at night?
        Lovely look, wrong venue.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Oh my, I see that now. This *is* an evening event. Dear, this won’t do. It’s much too Easter Sunday, Ladies Who Brunch, or Tea over an interview kind of look.

      • drdarke

She looks like she should have a sign, “KIDNAP ME”, stuck on her back.

WTF? Every other time I’ve seen her she seems like what she is – a Profoundly Gifted, multi-talented young woman who’s not egocentric, but knows she’s probably smarter than just about anybody else in the room.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/37TPKASIMXVUPYK5BNQFOL43KU Carina

So cute! And I’d rather see her face slightly underdone than way overdone as it was a couple of times previously.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Great dress! Even a basic pony would have been a better choice for the hairstyle.

    • capybara_cafe

The dress is adorable, and looks great with those shoes. It’s also perfect for her figure and height. Super cute!

    • urbanamish

i’d rather see her underdone and gorgeous, than “done.” her done has been downright criminal.

    • kalisa

      Are her shoes too big?

    • Alyssa

Super cute dress. I think a good rule of thumb for starlets is to wear the same brands Cathy Cambridge wears…stylish, modern yet classic, flattering.

    • l_c_ann

I blame Cathy Windsor for the proliferation of starlets trying to copy her lovely long hair.

Emmy’s long hair is a far piece from a Windsor.

    • aeb1986

I think she looks great. It’s pretty, cute, and fun. I love the icy blues on her as well. Hair would have been great in a pulled back ponytail. She’s one of those celebrities I would love to hang out with. She seems so cool and normal

    • fringebenefit

Cute, but her shoes are way too big for her. She looks trapped in them, knowing she can’t move an inch. Also, not to be tedious on this subject, but the belt was a necessary accessory. Some definition needed at the waist–even a self-belt. Overall, cute, but much better on the model because of styling and shoe size.

      • Introspective

agree on the need for a belt. the belt on the model is so thin, yet makes a world of difference on the overall sharpness of the silhouette. that said the dress is tailored perfectly to emmy’s figure. which makes for something easy on the eyes. the hair is too much though. way too much.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

A belt would have been good but I am glad she ditched the one on the model, which just didn’t sit properly over the shaping of the print.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I don’t squee much, especially this early in the morning, but that *is* a cute dress. Her hair is all wrong. Why is it that she has such trouble with hairstyles lately? It’s either a younger, non-gray version of Frau Blucher (from “Young Frankenstein”) or it’s this thick’n’unkepmt look, neither of which is flattering. From what I can tell she’s got gorgeous locks. It just shouldn’t be that hard to give her a quick blow dry, a little smoothing with some anti-frizz serum, some hairspray, and send her out for the photographers.

    • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

After a series of retro hairdos, I saw this picture and thought, “Wow, I LIKE her cocker spaniel hair!”

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Could they just move the hair from the beautiful clothing. I don’t want to see your hair!
      The dress is simply lovely.

    • formerlyAnon

Lovely, lovely dress! Totally needs a sleeker – not necessarily *older* hairstyle.

    • crash1212

      Like a dolphin!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=752912994 Bernadette Ulsamer

I vote the hair should have been up. And it it me or is she standing in a really awkward pose in the first pic…

    • mhleta

“Squee” and agree about the hair. Also, I prefer the richer cobalt of the runway dress. This blue is a little too chilly for moi.

    • Isabel

Who’s a fabric expert here? Is the image fused to the white portion or does it have texture via machine embroidery?

      • Donna Tabor

It looks like a cotton jacquard to me. And the white portion would be a separate fabric.

        • http://twitter.com/Sinead_Doyle Sinéad Doyle

I’m thinking digital print, there’s a lot of tonal detail up close

    • MarissaLG

I mean, it’s FINE. She looks pretty in it, and I like the detail, but I’m not dying over it or anything. I prefer it on the model- the hem hitting above the knee and including the belt. I’m personally not a fan of the shoes either. I’m debbie downer today, I guess.

Thought this was Zooey Deschanel. It should be. With her hair up and no black tights, Zooey would look great in this dress.

    • NoGovernmentName

    • Sara__B

Cute dress, but she looks like a hungover bridesmaid.

    • Snailstsichr

She looks like she is about to cry in the third picture down. I blame the shoes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-Charlotte-Siewierkiewicz/503556621 Jessica Charlotte Siewierkiewi

NOW I have seen a special snowflake :-)

    • Pants_are_a_must

That dress needed the belt, and she looks like those shoes hurt just as much as we think they do. Gurl you better watch some Drag Race.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Very cute (though I wish she’d kept the belt)! I like the idea of a silver shoe, but I’m not sold on THIS silver shoe. Her hair is pretty, but not for this dress. And her makeup looks understated, but great. Nice job, Emmy!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=49702581 Susan Bullard Mayer

Ooh, I needed that dress for church on Sunday. So cute!

    • Coco Cornejo

TLo would you ever consider starting a series called “The Shoes Don’t Fit!”?

I am constantly amazed at the number of shoe shots we see with ill fitting footwear. Tootsies swimming in leather or an arch bulging out of the top can ruin a look as much as a poorly tailored suit.

    • MilaXX

I think a sleek ponytail would have worked better, but this is a cute look.

    • teensmom99

I was expecting something not great from Temperly and was pleasantly surprised. TLo got it on the nose. And I like her down-time hair and make up just not with this.

    • CPK1

Adorable. Love the ice blue. But why do they always remove the belt?!

    • http://twitter.com/Kate4Queen Kate Pearce

      Very nice!

    • Louise Bryan

She looks like she wishes she had a cardigan or a jacket on, really bad!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

well, i WAS, until you said “like a dolphin.” and then i stopped. cold.

    • Imasewsure

Love the dress… don’t mind the hair but hate those shoes. Still she looks great

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

Pink lipstick, and I’d be sold.

    • Folk Devil

I wish she’d worn the belt. Cute dress though.

    • http://profiles.google.com/jgonz85 Jasmine Gonzalez

TLo…you were right…I’m squeeing right now. That dress!

    • Trisha26

Just like a dophin! (hate the hair)

    • thecitysleeps

Such a pretty dress omg. I adore the small white panels at the side.

      Emmy always looks so pretty.

    • PrunellaV

Totally cute. But thanks to you guys, I now cannot unsee all the spaniel hair out there.
