Hair and makeup are pretty, but WHAT is she wearing? *sigh*

    • PinkySlinky

      honey no…

    • hunt3002

      Literal paper bag.

    • sweet_potato

It looks like a cloth paper sack.

    • Catiline

      Wrinkly butterscotch cupcake. DNW.

    • gabbilevy

If only this dress had color. It’s thisclose to being the perfect culmination of her personal style.

    • j_anson

This would be a lovely color on someone else. As it is she looks like she’s wearing a giant sack of skin that’s more vibrant than her own.

    • http://twitter.com/Moondragonic Charlotte

yes on the make-up, oh god no to the dress.

      2 words: just her!

    • http://www.facebook.com/CameronETurner Cameron Turner

Love the headband…. why do these Fanning girls always wear colors that wash them out!?!?!?!?

    • TAGinMO

Potato-sack chic. Throw in the headband thingy, and she’s the Princess of Idaho!

      • DebbieLovesShoes

        Perfect comment.

    • Little_Olive

      Pilgrim chic. No.

    • crash1212

Pretty hair. Pretty face. That is all.

I like the silhouette on her only in theory. The dress looks like a mess, like she got dress a minute before hitting the runway, and her face needed more drama to go with it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/conysoledad Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

It reminded me of the dreadful hips of the dress Michelle Williams wore a few days ago.

    • Beth513

All i see is a black sash. Everything else is just a flesh colored blob.

    • jw_ny

that black sash doesn’t hide the fact that it’s still a big blah sack she’s wearing.

    • charlotte

      Dress equivalent of granny panties.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

The “Earth-Fairy Princess” look is really her thing, isn’t it? The dress is WAAAY too big on her, the shape is horrible, and the color does absolutely nothing for her.

    • joancarol

      Why the roots, whyyyy?????

    • MilaXX

From the neck up, cute. The dress looks like a giant potato sack tied with a sash.

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

Lanvin brown paper trash bag…..no thanks!

    • hughman

“Oh, Ophelia. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Hamlet here but the GLAAD awards are possibly the opposite of a nunnery.”

    • MK03

Why are the Fanning sisters afraid of color??

    • 3boysful

The dress is too big, the illusion matches her face almost exactly, and I hate the Guinevere tiara “circlet” in her hair.

      • Tatiana Luján

I don’t particulary like that tiara, but I love the fact that she is wearing a tiara. How old is she, 8, 14?

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Only someone blissfully young and effortlessly thin would purposefully do this to their lower half. Bless the ignorance of the uninitiated.

Sorry, is yellow hair not desirable? Just curious. Isn’t it pretty much “blond”?

        • JasmineAM

Blonde is very beautiful, but there are tons of bottle blond starlets whose hair is not banana colored. In fact, this color wouldn’t be too bad on both Fannings, if they had different skin tones. In my opinion, the color just clashes and washes them out. Ex. January Jones hair is kind of yellow too, but it matches her skin better.

Prince Ronald, you are a bum!

      • Eliza Lagerquist

Total paper bag princess!! Love that book :)

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s Lanvin. Their stuff almost always looks like a$$ off of the runway.

    • TheAmericaness

For 15, she looks lovely. :)

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Also, a little strange that she’s – at age 15 – standing in front of a backdrop that has Ketel One Vodka all over it.

      • finnishmaria

that’s pretty much all I could think of, looking at this.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

This dress looks like what happens when I give someone a bottle of booze as a gift and am forced to “wrap” it on the way to the party.

    • tonyg

      Are those panniers?

      • librarygrrl64

Hahaha! That was my first question!

      • alyce1213

I know – underneath. I saw a different picture and it’s worse from the back.

    • barbarienne

Wait–she’s almost smiling in some of these pics!

She’s too clean. She needs some ashes to go with that sackcloth.

    • appliquer

I don’t understand the hair, either.

    • Imasewsure

“Princess of Idaho” … now that was funny TAGinMO!!
I think she’s hiding her real dress under that paper bag… the big reveal must have happened off stage somewhere else

    • marilyn

Bad color for her. Bad shape for her. Touch up those roots.

    • PrunellaV

I know that dress is not cheap, but…

    • titaness25

eyeshadow! Or really shiny eyelids. I think she looks nice. She’s not wearing those godawful Prada monstrosities on her feet (that i can see.)

    • ilikemints

She looks like a bridesmaid who knows no one will let her sneak some Champagne at the reception.

    • Trisha26

Apparently she thought it was the Renaissance Faire.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Lanvin is making paper bag dresses now?

    • Louise Bryan

What is going on? Please don’t tell me panniers are making a comeback 200 some years after being flushed.

    • formerlyAnon

She’s the right age for that ensemble. Charming, if not exciting or particularly flattering.

    • ceceliadid

I can imagine making something work for her if you took the dress apart PR challenge style, completely recut it, and used the sash and circlet thing in an interesting way. So no need to burn it, which would maybe be a first impulse.

    • l_c_ann

Finally a dress that a home seamstress (with a years experience) can copy and have the same look for a whole lot less.

      • Qitkat

Hell, Anya made some prettier dresses than this one.

    • ccm800

      she’s a gift bag

    • MartyBellerMask

She looks like a gift-wrapped bottle of wine.

    • demidaemon

It’s not terrible but I despise this color on her and almost everyone else in the world.

    • Aurumgirl

I am worried about the proliferation of hip padding we’re seeing. Soon every woman in a gown will look like a toilet paper cozy.

    • poggi

For Pete’s sake. Stop wearing garlands and out on some color.

    • teensmom99

I think this dress could work on someone else–someone with their hair up doing a 50s homage with some updating.

    • Qitkat

Elle is a lovely young lady, barely more than a girl, with sweet, princess-y looks. This is far from her best choice, but give her time, perhaps she is just not ready for more sophisticated, revealing gowns, and that’s just fine by me.
Too many of the crowd near her age is more than ready to show off their assets. Now get off my lawn!

from the cropped photo on the home page, i thought this was a blousey top tucked into a black pencil skirt, and was prepared to be wowwed. what a let-down.

    • guest2visits

Although I like the idea of the little wreath, it didn’t add anything to the dress, and ended up looking too precious; it just needs
to be used with something else. I love the dress, but it would have looked much better ankle length or shorter.
She’s just lost in all this delicate ‘nothingness’ – it’s wearing her instead of the other way round. Lose the odd little bustle too.
