Cover Girl: Fan Bingbing for Harper’s Bazaar China

Posted on April 18, 2013

Darlings, after being assaulted by celebrities making horrible fashion choices this morning, we promised you some pretty. And if you’re anything like us, you’re so deprived of it at this point that you need to mainline it.

Well open up a vein, kittens:

Fan Bing Bing covers the May 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar China magazine in Louis Vuitton photographed by Chen Man.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Julia Nobis (ELITE), Grace Hartzel (NEXT)

Better now?

I would prefer not seeing her bra underneath. A strapless would suffice. I don’t care if she’s wet or not.

      • http://twitter.com/EmFairbank Emily

I agree completely. It’s gorgeous but being able to see undergarments kinda takes a bit of fabulous away.

        • StellaZafella

See, I’m queer and, to me, this is sexy. maybe because it looks so intentionally forbidden…and so artistically intentional, like the glimpse of nipple in a Vargas drawing.

      • KateMaryC

I feel like that contrast is what makes the dress pop instead of blend with her skin, and I love how it mirrors her hair and eye makeup.

        • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I also think it gives the neckline a much more flattering shape.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Oh yes, that’s the stuff. Making a distinctly over-exposed dress look fresh and beautiful.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

As much as I have loved this collection from LV, I am done with it now. Really done with it. They need to put the checkerboard sequined dresses away and not lend them out anymore.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571205045 Kent Roby

That echos my comment in the LV shoes/bags post, that I initially loved the collection, but that it has an extremely short shelf life.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Well, frankly its been over-exposed and promoted. Every ladystar on Earth has worn some of that collection.

        • Sarah

I agree, and what’s more, personally, I didn’t like it in the first place, so I’m REALLY done seeing it. (No offense, Ms. Fabulous Bing Bing. You’re gorgeous, of course.)

        • DesertDweller79

This might be the most overexposed collection I can remember in recent years. I feel like I’ve been looking at photos of it for years! How many more sequined checkerboard dresses am I going to see? How many more, Louis Vuitton!?!

    • A.W.

      All hail the queen!

    • eowyn_of_rohan

      She’s like fashion Prozac.

    • Lori

She looks great, but it hurts my soul when magazines get couture wet.

      • http://twitter.com/EmFairbank Emily

        In a POOL no less.

      • SewingSiren

Maybe it’s a pool of dry cleaning fluid.

      • http://www.facebook.com/mary.nease Mary Nease

        Photoshop?

      • jetpackdino

IT PUTS THE WET COUTURE ON ITS SKIN OR ELSE IT GETS THE POOL AGAIN.

        (Yeah let’s hope it’s photoshop lol…)

    • jetpackdino

If your couture looks better in the pool, you get in that pool and you take that shot. She looks beautiful.

    • gabbilevy

We need her to be featured waaaaaay more often. Thank you for this.

      • jetpackdino

        Agreed. More Bingbing please.

        • VicD

          She is spectacular.

      • NNgela

        Daily works.

    • lehen

I love it but i CANNOT believe they put that jumpsuit in a pool.

      • http://twitter.com/DarthJaeda Jaeda Laurez

I think that’s really the only place one should wear a baggy jumpsuit.

      • http://www.facebook.com/tiyuju Yuju Ti

It is possible that they just gave Fan BingBing a wet look, took the photo in a studio with green wall, and the rest is all computer work? With today’s technology I just can’t believe they really soaked her into the water……

    • Guest

i think i’m over that Vuitton line now.

    • BrooklynBomber

Thank you. I needed that. I don’t even see the checkerboard square.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

Like a cold glass of water after a desert without beauty.

    • Sobaika

Her eyes stare right at you. Such a fabulous cover.

    • stellamaris73

Question: Is the garment ruined after being dunked in a pool like that? The clothes featured in shoots like this always seem to be made of fine fabrics that surely couldn’t just be dry-cleaned and resuscitated.

      • barbarienne

Yes, but this dress has been featured so many times in so many places. Perhaps they decided to retire it permanently.

Being drowned by Fan Bing Bing is probably not a bad way to go.

      • RebeccaKW

I think the companies are probably willing to write off one dress for a
magazine photo shoot, especially the cover, for the huge exposure they
will get. Granted, this collection is overexposed, but I imagine LV
        doesn’t see it that way.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Meh… I love Bing Bing, but we’ve seen her in this dress, haven’t we? It’s gonna take more pretty than this to recover from this morning.

    • Chartreusite

man she should be repping for louis vuitton considering how often shes worn then the past few months. luv her and luv the cover. I guess you coould say im a fan fan.

    • Pants_are_a_must

      WERQ.

      Two words: THAT FACE

    • crash1212

MUCH better. Thank you. Also, I think I want every piece from that Vuitton collection. Can you wrap it up and sent it STAT?

    • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

      Beautiful cover….X

    • lexilexi

Now THAT is a heart-shaped face.

    • carnush

Is she the most breathtaking woman on earth or what? Stunning.

    • MzzPants

Like a soothing balm for the eyes…

    • Le_Sigh

Ahhh – Tilda yesterday and now our beloved Fan. Thank you for these oasis(es) of lovely TLo!

      • H2olovngrl

Maybe we could get a Mirren morning, tomorrow!

    • Janet B

The colors are bright and cheering.
      Thank you

    • formerlyAnon

She’s a beautiful woman. The shot chosen did not allow the garment to interfere with that. But it could have been a top from almost anywhere. (ETA: I think the earrings provide more fabulosity and as others commented earlier, the bra straps the framing that really bumps up the visual impact of the neckline.)

    • http://twitter.com/herong Heron

It gives me life that we exist in a world with Fan Bingbing and Tilda Swinton. So different. So divine. So serene. So FIERCE!

    • MilaXX

      ah yes, much better.

    • Kate

Her tats are amazing in this photo!

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Much better. My eyes were bleeding after the Jennifer/Salma monstrosities.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

      Thank-you.

    • Judy_S

Weird. I actually don’t like that cover because she seems too photoshopped to me. She is naturally so gorgeous. She looks like an avatar of herself.

    • jerseyginger

Looks like I’m the lone dissent…I can’t with the orange lips that she always seems to be sporting.

    • Qitkat

This is the first time I have actually liked this jumpsuit. I don’t think black bra when I see this shot, it frames it so beautifully.

    • another_laura

T Lo, I need another dose of fabulous to get rid of the Morrison/Hayek double dose of dreadful.

    • CatherineRhodes

Celebs sure do love that Louis Vuitton collection.

    • tereliz

FUN! She looks beautiful, the clothes aren’t overwhelming the shot, and I really love thinking about this photo shoot and imagining at what point they just said, “screw it, just jump in the pool, Bingbing!

    • Imasewsure

I don’t even mind the LV retread since it was so sorely needed after all of that fug

    • butterflysunita

Lovely. But I need even more–aren’t we due for a Vogue Korea editorial sometime soon?

      • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

        YESSSSSS!

    • amaranth16

      That coral-salmon-vermilion lip…!

    • http://twitter.com/Bloodisea Barbora

My eyes are filled with delight. Go miss Fan BingBing!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-Charlotte-Siewierkiewicz/503556621 Jessica Charlotte Siewierkiewi

I’m a Fan Bingbing Fan officially now.

    • titaness25

I have a theory about this collection. Nobody buys it due to the ugly, so they literally have to give it away, even to be doused in a chlorinated pool.

    • TheAmericaness

What does (ELITE) & (NEXT) mean next to the models names underneath the second photograph pretty please?

      • l_c_ann

Just a guess but those could be the Model Agencies that represent each one

        • TheAmericaness

Ah! That would make sense. Thank you :)

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Forget the pool, take a swim in those gorgeous eyes, and I don’t swing that way. Pretty indeed.

    • H2olovngrl

Man, she just OWNS that LV collection, doesn’t she?

    • Anniebet

She’s lovely. Even the strange nose shadow is somewhat cute.

    • ankali

Man, she owns this particular Vuitton collection. Wasn’t it she during Paris Fashion Week who looked like a gazillion trillion bucks in one of the black-and-white-checked dresses?

    • http://twitter.com/jalae Janey

      HER PERFECT FACE

    • siriuslover

She’s so gorgeous. And that dress. swoon.

    • DesertDweller79

She’s beautiful. That’s a beautiful photo. And I simply cannot believe how much we’ve seen of that collection from Louis Vuitton.

    • Brad Watson

      She da Fan.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      So much better!

    • http://twitter.com/phreddd F. Eloy Vaughn

      Bingbing!!! Bingbing!!

    • Emily Wilkerson

      Fan BingBing is a goddess.

    • cocktailrobot

love her. NB, the mandible/jaw surgery to create the heart-shaped face (aka ‘V-line’) is typical of many Asian starlets (akin to a rite of passage, particularly amongst the Kpop set). she’s a beautiful woman with amazing style.
