Carolina Herrea Spring 2014 Bridal Collection

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I think I might have found my dress. That is, if I actually ever get married…

      • Heather

And have probably $10-20K to drop on a dress? :-)

        • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

          Yeah, that too. :P

    • understateddiva

I’m gonna say “no” to the metallic tinsel.

      • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

That dress was the big mistake of the collection, IMO.

        • http://twitter.com/zbird17 Sheri Z

Well, that one and the babyhead one. Where the heck did that come from? I guess even porn stars need wedding dresses? No?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571205045 Kent Roby

I actually like the gold-splattered dress! It’s an unexpected way to get some bling on a wedding gown without the usual crystals and beading. It certainly is a very specific look for just the right bride, though.

    • hughman

Gorge. And I am a little fascinated by the wheat bouquets.

      • AngelaGreen

I was just gonna say, now I think I’d like a wheat bouquet!

      • http://profiles.google.com/h.e.waddell Heather Waddell

I could be wrong, but I think the wheat bouquets are traditional somewhere. I just forget where…

      • Derek_anny

I know! It must have been last years Harrera that I first saw wheat bouquets. I was like: that makes perfect sense. Wheat is a symbol of bounty, both fertility and money.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

I like these so much better than the Vera Wang collection from the other day.

      • SRQkitten

I think this might be my favorite bridal collection for this season (thus far)

        srq

    • ralish

      These are so lovely.

    • Catiline

I’m not usually distracted by models’ faces, but so many of these models look like they are about to murder me. Having said that, GORGEOUS collection.

      • http://twitter.com/herong Heron

UGH, I got so bored by the horrifying lips that I couldn’t even look at the rest of the dresses. Styling fail.

      • Airkisses

        Pick murderous model of choice:

Meet Genevieve, formerly hard-partying New York socialite set to marry her dad’s business partner’s son, Peyton Fitzgerald III. Genevieve is sour-faced because her former best friend Laura, also getting married that month, got the better ceremony location, the better reception, the better band, and the better guests. Genevieve takes comfort in knowing that at least HER dress isn’t exposing massive babyheads. Really. Some people have no class.

      • CakesOnAPlane

none of these women look like they are participating in the Happiest Day of Their Lives.

    • snarkykitten

      OMGAHStraps!!! *kermit flail*

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

        And sleeves! Of different lengths!!

        • Lilithcat

I know! I nearly died from shock.

If she’s not careful, they’ll take her license away.

        • maggiemaybe

I didn’t know it could be like this!

        • 3boysful

          Thank Duchess Kate.

          • http://onionjam.tumblr.com SkipperJane

Looks like at least one designer looked at the Royal Wedding and thought, “Gee, I bet a bunch of women are going to want sleeves on their wedding dresses now. I can do that…”

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

Love these. More than most bridal collections.

      • drdarke

I like just about all of these – no, they’re none of them “innovative”, but they’re all beautiful.

    • gsk241

Wow! A bridal collection that isn’t all strapless mermaid dresses. Color me impressed. There are some really pretty pieces here.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Do you think that model had her boobs done after the dress fitting? Babyheads aren’t a very Caroline Herrera look, I would have thought.

      • Watts

I KNOW! I saw that and I was like, ‘Hello, Tit-tastic!”

    • tereliz

Hey, sleeves! Cool! I also might be a little obsessed with that strapless tuxedo gown. Pic 18, with the pink roses.

      • Beardslee

Me too! It’s wonderful. I love tailored elements in a wedding dress.

    • MilaXX

Oh I need numbers. I like a lot of these. Let’s see 4, 7, 8, 10, 21 & 22 are the ones I would pick to try on were I wedding dress shopping.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

That would be such a fun field trip.

      • MoHub

        Especially 4 and 10.

    • Hannah Burrack

Sleeves! Straps! Models with breasts! I love all of this!

      • akprincess72

Some tiny arms though & some muscled ones as well.

    • Nicholas

I wonder what it must be like for a model to get to wear these on the runway. Is it heavenly bliss, or tortuous hell to get to don the white just for the fashion of it?

    • VicD

TAKE THAT Marchessa and Vera Wang. Now that’s how bridal outta be done.

    • In_Stitches

I don’t see much cohesion here at all, but I suppose a bridal collection doesn’t have the same restrictions as a normal runway presentation in that regard.

    • Alyssa

If I could go back to my wedding and pick a different dress, it’d be #7.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Nobody nails ‘regal’ and ‘feminine’ better than Herrera. With just a couple of exceptions, this collection is exquisite.

    • alyce1213

There is something beautiful in this collection for just about everyone — different body types, ages, sleeves, straps, strapless, embellished, plain, foofy, blingy. I absolutely adore it.

      Carolina Herrera is fabulous.

    • Trisha26

For me #1 – a big gown without foofoo, love the tad higher hem in front, and #5 – casual yet elegant. #21 is gorgeous, not my style, but gorgeous.

      • makeityourself

Yes, No. 1 with the slightly raised hem at center front is just wonderful. I love the fact that a beautiful shoe can peak out with every step down the aisle. Smart, feminine design going on there.

    • stubbornthoughts

I could not get past these models’ faces. Some serious cold feet happening on the runway. And possible murder plots…

    • Jennifer L.

Dresses are gorgeous. And who is the model in the thumbnail/fur capelet? I’m not usually wowed by foreheads, but WOW!

    • MsALVA

SO MUCH Princess Kate inspiration! YAY for sleeves and straps! And no one does elegant and gorgeous quite like Carolina Herrera. Every dress, absolutely stunning. LOVES IT.

    • MrsAtaxxia

Betty Hofstat realness in a whole lot of this. Love love love it. So luscious and fine looking.

    • frannyprof

      My favorite collection so far.

    • nannypoo

Every one of these dresses is absolutely beautiful.

      • Fordzo

LOL, at first I read your comment as “One of these dresses is absolutely beautiful”, and I was like, “well…? Which one?!”

    • blueberrypanckae

The only thing I noticed was the model with the giant titties pushed up to the lord! Thats the only thing different or unique about this collection!

      • Jennifer Obertacz

I’ve worn a very similar style of dress at RenFairs, and all I’ll say is that there is a MASSIVE corset in that bodice, ’cause that looked like how anyone with visible boobs looked in that style.

And wow, my first post as a BK and I’m talking about corsetry and boobs. First impression, gotta love ‘em. ;)

    • zenobar

It’s decided then. Next time I get married, I’m carrying a tiny sheaf of wheat.

      • Fordzo

And make all your bridesmaids carry bunches of celery.

    • http://twitter.com/Hussified Coleen

      “BAZOOMS.”

That was my second reaction. My first one was “SLEEVES! YAY!”

    • jmorino08

I much prefer Herrera to Wang when it comes to bridal. These are stunning!!

    • Little_Olive

Except the one with silver stripper eyelashes (the fabric rather than the design), big bowl’o BLAH.

    • http://twitter.com/VersatileChef The Versatile Chef

This blows the Vera Wang stuff away. Also: STRAPS! SLEEVES! HALLEFUCKINGLUIA!

    • kirkyo

Granted, I haven’t looked a lot of bridal collections and I’m the wrong gender for this, but I think weddings need more capes as long as they’re as fab as this one.

      • lulubella

And I might add: More corset. More opera length kid gloves. More dainty chapeau. More lace up ankle boots. More petticoat. More blue. More bustle. More feathers. Less strapless, less white, less chantilly lace.

      • poggi

Yes. I think the grocery store and PTA meetings and the car wash all need more capes like this one.

    • TheGal

Don’t make me spend 30K on a wedding dress and then send me down the aisle holding some freaking WHEAT for chrissakes.

      • l_c_ann

Wheat, the millenia old symbol of fertility.

    • VicksieDo

      Bow Down, these are stunning!

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

10th one down (fitted bustier bodice; cap sleeves; tulle skirt) is the winner for me. I also like the one with the tuxedo style overlay but I’d have to see it full on, without the flowers in front. No big style surprises or gasp moments good or bad, but certainly true to Ms. Herrera’s stylistic vision.

      • MilaXX

10 was on my list as well.

    • BrooklynBomber

I don’t know what it is about the presentation but they all look as if they’re going to have to lie down on a stone slab and have their hearts cut right out of them.

    • Insidiously

These took my breath away completely…

    • sleepycat

Boring, but still pretty. I like Vera’s over this collection

    • Airkisses

1st picture: Alternate Universe Model Debra Messing

    • l_c_ann

And for the classic bride who will be married in a cathedral where sleeves are required (not optional, but musts), or for the lady who doesn’t love her arms, we have a designer who is smart enough to recognize the non-strapless market.

    • maggiemaybe

Hooray, sleeves! I must say, though, the bosomy first-communion bride looks like she wandered in from another wedding collection…

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

      I enjoy the tea-length long-sleeved little ditty.

    • 3boysful

Many of these are absolutely gorgeous. Altho I have always been a CH fan.

However, the cupcake liner dress was clearly conceived one day after lunch with Georgina Chapman.

    • j_anson

I try hard not to say this, because if you start saying it you just don’t stop, but my GOD those models are thin. Their arms! They look like famine victims. They’re actually too thin for the dresses, I think – half the dresses look weirdly proportioned or like they needed to go down a size or be better tailored to the model. Except for that one that looks like the designer accidentally picked a model with breasts and then couldn’t get a sub on short notice and didn’t have time to let out the bodice.Just… bad proportioning and tailoring all round.

Uh… I do like the wheat bouquet thing?

    • MissAnnieRN

90% of these are to DIE. sleeves. Short dresses. THE CAPE! I remember loving her collection last year and I love it all this year too.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I like the capelet, but I’d put it over a straighter dress. Some of these are very pretty. They’re all pretty. Some unique; others seem like repeats.

    • lulubella

So much more interesting than Ms. Wang.

    • Qitkat

This collection has some of my favorite gowns ever. Numbers 2, 5, 7,11,14,15,18, 21, 23, 26, 29, 30, with my “mostest” favorites being nos. 21, 23, and 30 (the cape is to die, and she is one of the few with good face).

However, The Bride of Satan Facial Finishing School has several new graduates.

    • PastryGoddess

      Pretty…Floofy…White…BABYHEADS….Pretty…Floofy…White
      Also bitchface

    • http://twitter.com/Lily1129 Lily

I love this collection. best one so far. And yay for dresses with sleeves!

    • Contralto

Here’s something novel. A bridal collection that’s – GASP – pretty and bridal! I am, however, still over the whole strapless bridal gown thing.

    • Carrieanno

      I suddenly feel very serene.

    • http://wipgirl.wordpress.com Kristel

Wedding dresses really are kind of boring, aren’t they? I mean, yay sleeves and all that, but yawn. (And I liked this collection, on the whole, more than either of the last couple we’ve seen.)

    • Deedles

I had a furry capelet with a big-ass bow when I was a toddler, too!

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

      Oh my gawd. Drop-dead gorgeous.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Gorgeous textiles, but none of these silhouettes set me on fire – they all feel sort of dated to me (1950s and 1980s feel to me), I don’t know why. GOOD THING I’M NEITHER GETTING MARRIED NOR HAVE THE MONEY FOR THESE GOWNS.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

      Wow, SLEEVES. It’s a miracle!

    • formerlyAnon

If you removed the tiny bit of pointless tulle ruching(?) at the “V” I love #18, the one with the sort-of-faux-duster effect for the fancy ass wedding I didn’t have and wouldn’t have if given another shot.

Overall, this has lots of choice for any girl who loves being a girl and beats ol’ Vera all hollow.

    • http://www.facebook.com/conysoledad Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

Some of the models look like Princess Leia.
      It’s a gorgeous collection, there’s a dress for everyone.

    • quiltrx

Wow, Herrera always brings the elegance. I have a few quibbles here and there, but overall these are absolutely heavenly.
I particularly like the interesting details–not-run-of-the-mill laces, interesting trims, variety of bodices and silhouettes. Nicely done.

    • save_the_hobbit

The 5th one from the bottom is beautiful, but that’s really the only one I like.

    • Mimi

Agreed – some of the models look like serial killers and would it kill them to eat a damn sandwich?! Some look like Corpse Bride without the Tim Burton charm.

    • CommentsByKatie

Favorite bridal collection of the season (a mostly underwhelming season, including this, but all the same!) So happy to see: 1) Sleeves 2) Boleros 3) CAPES. There are only a few strapless. THANK YOU CAROLINA

    • http://twitter.com/TVcastingcall Reality TV Casting

what is going on with booby baby heads halfway down
      seriously those globes are lopsided
      gagola

    • demidaemon

These are all staid and standard. Pretty. But standard.

    • http://twitter.com/DarrenNesbitt Darren Nesbitt

      Dress #8 is a Downton Abbey wedding dress. . . I don’t like.

    • ccm800

Well she has “virginal” down. The little gold doodads are, well tacky

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=9362159 Tracy Walker

My favorite of the collections featured so far, though I could do without that plush cape at the end – looks like a Christmas-themed historical romance novel cover.

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

I love that second dress. In fact, I think I should stop looking at wedding dress collections between now and my actual wedding. I already bought my dress, dammit!

    • Sunshine16

So nice that CH designs at least a few dresses that a girl can wear a bra with! I sound like Joanna C!

    • lobsterlen

I would have loved the fur caplet for my ….. First Holy Communion when I was 9. My mother would have had to hit me with tranquilizer dart in order to take it off me. As an adult woman say no to bowed fur pelts on your wedding.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Monzerrat-Ontiveros/100000216133922 Monzerrat Ontiveros

      Sleeves!!!

    • librarygrrl64

SLEEVES!!!!! Keeping it classy as always, CH. :-)

    • mznormann

      Sleeves!!! Beautiful!!

    • TheAmericaness

Would someone PLEASE let the models take a poo before they are forced down the runway because having to watch some of them hold it in is a bit unbearable.

    • PrunellaV

I like this collection because each dress has a distinct personality: casual, ostentatious, princess-y, minimalist, romantic, etc., yet strongly feminine in the CH way.

    • Heather

Pretty, and TASTEFUL. Never thought I’d say that about a wedding collection.

    • MissusBee

Gotta love the usual model bitchface in the context of wedding gowns. Keep imagining what would have to happen for a bride to look like that. Groom shows up drunk? First wife shows up in a bikini? I suppose no carbs since the engagement would do it…

    • LaSylphide

Lovely, as expected from this designer (and they aren’t all strapless!). Love #5, and give me #17 in contrasting shades of green and I’m ready for the RC.
