NAY! These are a tacky mess.

  • No. More. Stripper. Platforms.

    • I agree! These colors would look so amazing with a smaller platform and heel. It’s a shame, I see the shape and totally ignore them.

    • ChaCha_70

    • lrober03

If that first shoe was a flat, I would buy it in a heartbeat

    • H2olovngrl

My very first thought! When will the stripper platforms die??

      • betorah

My very first thought: perfect shoes for Rue Paul Drag Race, thus conflating two of T&Lo’s postings.

    • Amen, Sister.
In nearly every case I look and think, “Gee, that would be so much better without the platform.

    • Little_Olive

      This x 1000!

    • sweet_potato

      Thank you.

    • Folk Devil

Seriously. Yes. I really thought they were on their way out. I think they always look stripper-tacky. On celebs, on models, on “regular people”. Just no.

    • shopgirl716

I thought I was the only one. They’re hideous.

    • Mar8

When I was little my mum told me platforms were for people who had a short leg and the other one normal and from that moment it is all I can see

  • Jen

Well… they look quite refined compared to the TB mess offered up yesterday.

  • Jessica RoweRock

the platform is dead. sorry, brian atwood. it’s so last year.

  • I’m so over platforms. Yuck.

  • crash1212

Qualified YAY – exceptions are ALL the models with applique flowers and what not. What IS it with high end shoemakers with the applique nonsense for Spring? Not a fan of the trend.

    • Lori

I would really love to know who decided that people should or would pay high-end prices for craft projects.

  • Jessi03

They’re baaaaaack! Hello, Spice Girl shoes! How was your trip up from the late 90s?

  • MilaXX

Officially over platforms, and even if I ignore that the yellow and blue print ones in the middle are the only ones I remotely like.

  • I feel like I should be listening to “Groove is in the Heart” while looking at this collection.

    • I feel like we should all be listening to Groove is in the Heart just because it makes you feel so damn good. Off to YouTube….

      • Little_Olive

My fried and I were just taking a break watching Soul Train – Chakha Khan. Best mood lifter EVER.

        • Sarah

There is no better show now or ever in the history of mankind than Soul Train. It never disappoints, and is ALWAYS GROOVY. You have made me happy just mentioning it.

    • Lady Miss Kier realness

    • Qitkat

      And I just did 🙂
Not my era, but it had me bopping along and smiling.

    • Carrieanno

That song is now stuck in my head. But it’s a classic, so thanks. The shoes, not so much.

  • NO: They’re KC and the Sunshine Band Boogie shoes. I love the 70s but the Soul Train fashion forward 70s

  • If I were a stunning Latina lady, living up the high life in Miami (or a fabulously cha cha drag queen), I would love these shoes.
But I am not, and so, I do not.

  • notterriblybitter

They certainly are festive; I’ll grant them that. The colors are right for spring but I have a hard time with the concept of suede sandals. I don’t know why it bothers me but it does.

  • schadenfreudelicious

ugh, we need a moratorium on platforms…

    • H2olovngrl

  • zenobar

    “Strippers From Around The Globe”

    • Pants_are_a_must

How very Victoria’s Secret Runway Show.

  • Clomp clomp clomp. Blech. Stop already with the damn platforms!

  • rh33

    For your inner Carmen Miranda.

  • Alexandra Simons

I’m with the rest of the group here – no more platforms!! There is no way to walk in these without looking tortured. And they really aren’t aesthetically pleasing either.

  • H2olovngrl

    They are just so inelegant!

    • Little_Olive

      That is the word.

  • Hunty, I have been making over-the-top over-embellished shoes for Mardi Gras bal costumes for the past 25 years, but I never imagined that similar looks would be produced as “real” shoes. Parrots, flowers, dragonflies…It appears that crazy shoes are the new Judith Leiber pavéd bag.

    • jason

      a fellow new orleanian! yeay:)

    • l_c_ann

Do imagine the French Quarter sidewalks trapping these heels and never letting go. (Wearable art to go with the statuary at the Aquarium.)

  • Qitkat

My perfect feet self with money to burn would wear the cork/swirlies pair and the silvery pair with the same swirlies in color, and the 3rd pair from bottom in cobalt, purple, chartreuse, and greeny teal/turquoise. Don’t care for the floral appliques.

  • MarissaLG

I just wrote this whole thing about how form should follow function, even in fashion, but it got too long and ranty so I deleted it. Let me just say that these are ugly shoes.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

I’m pretty sure I owned some of these shoes in the early 70’s.

  • Trisha26

More craft projects disguised as lethal footware. Honestly, who wears these heels?

  • tereliz

Can’t the peep-toe platform hoof please die and never come back? I understand that shorter people like adding some height, but egads, these are ugly shoes.

    • Little_Olive

If you are so short that you need an extra 6-inches, you probably shouldn’t wear these anyway or you’ll look like you’re on stilts.

  • Fun and funky.

  • Chickadeep

So very over the cartoon stripper platform thing.

  • Imasewsure

    Hate them all

  • PastryGoddess

It’s like there are 4 different collections of shoes here. I don’t know who was in charge of presenting this collection, but they need to be fired or demoted to intern level.

And enough with the 12 inch platforms

    • conniemd

Agree. Hate platforms. Also agree it looks like more than one collection. I kinda like the ones that interplay the solid colors like the first one. The flower glued ones look like a separate collection as do the printed platforms. The rest area mishmash.

  • dgh

Huh. Maggie pretty much said it all in the first comment, but did anyone else notice that on the second pair (the only ones without the stupid platform), the floral embellishment is actually dragging on the ground? That’ll be fun to clean the dogshit off of.

  • Well, if everybody else hates them, that leaves more for me!

Actually, I only need the black ones with the gold trim flowers and the lime green/purple ones. My birthday will be here soon…pleaaaaase?

    • Melanie Schultz

lol as i was scrolling through i was like “want…want…want…OMG WANT.” i’d wear every single one & be thrilled to do so!

  • carrie

If you told me these were Jessica Simpson shoes, I’d have believed it. Not special.

  • Isabel

Not for me, only Katy Perry has enough “je ne sais quoi” to wear them

    • These must be kept away from Ms. Perry; she’s still trying to rehab from dressing like a 9-yr-old, and these creations would likely make her relapse.

  • Tracy_Flick

Those purple snakeskin ones are the most hideous shoes I’ve seen in a while. Agree with the general consensus that the platforms are OVER.

  • Ah, so apparently Brian Atwood hired all the people who used to design Kaboodles in the 1990s.

  • decormaven

    Bedazzled platforms are next…

  • marilyn

I like the bright colors. Definitely for summer and spring, but I wonder what clothes would be worn with them. No one is making retro 70’s clothing.

  • unbornfawn

This would be a fabulous collection without the platforms.

  • Pennymac

Ship these off to the Miss Universe contestants so they can wear them with their national costumes, please! They are just too much.

    • l_c_ann

And then Vegas could bet on which nations would fall on the runway when these heels and froufrau get caught in the National costumes.

  • YayaGurl

These all scream “Charo!” to me.

  • Pants_are_a_must

    Stripper shoes gone Etsy.

  • musicandmochi

Too many tickery-tackery accessories this season, it seems.

Designers, I expect better from you. *wags finger*

  • teensmom99

These do not look high end. I feel like I could do much better at Anthroplogie. The only ones that are at all interesting are the cork . . .

  • guest2visits

Sad to say – I really like half of these. 4,7,9,10,12…

  • hailtree

the 2nd shoe from the top is pretty, the rest are just stripper shoes.

  • save_the_hobbit

Love the color blocked ones, but the flower ones are pretty hideous.

  • MsOlympia

These would all be like 100x more chic without the platforms.

  • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

I love me a chunky heel and a platform, but NOT a steep high heel. I think most of these shoes would look much cuter if they took that heel down.

    • editrixie

Agreed. I have a fun pair of platform heels, but with the platform, it’s only about 3 inches, which is very manageable for the dance party I wear them to. There’s just no need for such torturous heel heights.

  • These shoes should come with a free strip of condoms.

  • I loves me a colorful shoe & playful is all well & good but these shoes are the equivalent of the idiots who think that women’s trousers don’t need pockets. Women need to function in the world, people. These are the larky embellished equivalent of foot-binding. And gosh wasn’t THAT a hoot and a half.

  • korilian

They probably look ridiculous when worn, but they’re fun to look at.

  • MoreShoes

    Chic porn star.

  • It was funny seeing this post yesterday, then watching Rachel last night go through Brian’s store (with him there, natch) and declaring that the shoes “are everything”. I also thought it was really cute (even if totally staged) when they presented Sky with a box of animal cookies on a silver platter!

  • I fully anticipate seeing some of these worn by the next crop of Miss World contestants.

  • I’ll take the first pair, and the black ones with the black/gold flower thingies on the heel, but the rest? I can’t wait to see them on the ladies of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

  • I would adore every single one of these shoes if they didn’t have that stupid, ankle-spraining platform on every single one. As is, I merely like them a lot.

  • AmeliaEve

I just love these colors, especially the first one. For me, orange and pink together are the Mod Barbie colors of my childhood dreams. I just wish they weren’t so tall and trashy.

  • lalahartma

  • editrixie

Well, they’re certainly colorful, I’ll give them that.

  • Anniebet

I’m a sucker for gaudy, colorful things as long as they’re tasteful. Heh.

  • allisankelly

As my husband just said to our son, there’s ugly and then there’s butt-ugly. These are both, IMO.

  • myristica_fragrans

i need a wealthy benefactor to purchase these for me.

  • ccm800

Punky Brewster grew up to be a stripper?

  • Platforms are awesome. I hate these shoes though.

  • TieDye64

    Perfect disco wear.
